Pathfinder General /pfg/

What was the last game you regret signing up for? What was the last character you regret playing? Why?

All of them and none of them, respectively.

tamamo is better than tamamo cat

You and the other OP who keep making threads on page 4 are complete shitbirds

Again I'll ask you why it matters, and again you'll fail to reply.

both tamamos are besto

Not the same person, so I'll actually respond.
Because it's considered poor form and a form of spamming to create a new general while the old one is still on the first 6 pages, and does nothing but encourage bunpfagging, thread spam, dueling threads, and other shit that clogs up the board with more and more redundant shit and thus decrease it's overall quality.

You fucking retard.

Shit, even /twgg/ has the common sense and good decency to not make new threads until post autosage at page 8-9

It kills off other threads early, and Veeky Forums moves slowly enough that /pfg/ can get a lot more discussion out of the post-bump-limit thread. Even the now dead thread might have been able to get more out of its life. Page 4 OPs is wasteful behaviour and clearly shows a lack of care for other people on the board.

So that's why you're a shitbird.

I regret signing up for NotR. Tuv bit off way more than he could chew and you could tell that Halae actually getting into a game went to her head. Glad I could jump away before the shit really hit the fan.

Hey, I wanna fuck those foxes.

What happened?

user, now's not the time for jokes.

Wtf I like Pathfinder now

Was that the only game you regret signing up for?

Tuv always seemed to be a few pages behind on everything. He didn't understand how our abilities worked, he didn't understand how the monster's abilities worked. Seriously, one monster turn took 10 minutes AT LEAST. As for Halae, she had a major attitude problem. She thought she was solid gold and was constantly trying to steal the spotlight. Talking over others, breaking into conversations she wasn't a party to and the like.

Well it's the only game I've made it into so far. So yeah it was.

WotR is more than any DM can chew, it's horrible. The idea is okay, but the execution is horrendous. The opening of book one should be a memorable even that gets the PC's invested, instead it's two paragraphs and then you're in a cave fighting bugs.

Once the PC's are fighting in the first keep to the wardstone, that part is not bad. But there are serious issues then in book 2 which is a huge boring slog through mass combat. The books also feature something like seven or eight NPC's, which is way too many for a DM to juggle. The end of book two is a big keep, again which is okay but with mythic on the table now the mechanics are falling apart. Past that it just gets nonsensical. WotR is horrible, and to be honest I'm beginning to feel like every single AP I read or play is horrible.

Did you play that half-giant character?

The person who played the half-giant made it into Overlewd as well.

What about the other players?

Oh, God forbid we lose a "what if this thing from another setting was in 40k" thread.

STOP

Did you put meaning behind your character's name? What was the meaning?

i watched some anime and stole it

What anime my dude?

macross frontier and chuunibyou

I'm playing a Mindblade Magus who has a background in blacksmithing, so I named him Waylon, which is a shortened form of Wayland, which itself is an English form of Völundr.

Kobold Samurai named Makroo, goes by 'Mak'
I wanted to give him a joke name, and it works out alright for 'Little Mak' and 'Samurai Mak'

MANLETS, WHEN WILL THEY LEARN

stop posting, succula

I feel bad for succ because he's kind of the new cabal whipping boy, ever since Rory got banned, and he doesn't really do anything to deserve it.

don't be. that drunk deserves it.

He's really boring.

Bullying is just a form of affection

Not everybody takes it that way, though.

I know I don't.

Yeah, that's why abusive parents are the most loving people of all? Every cigarette scar is a mark of love!

exactly.

boring isn't even his worst sin. i can't wait until they bully him out for good.

Tbf you have to be pretty retarded to get banned for good

All you have to do is get Broodie fussy.

thats why i said 'pretty retarded'

I understand why people don't like most of the cabalists and ex-cabalists. I don't understand why anyone could hate Succ.

What's the best way to build a secret mage? Say I'm in a country where magic is punished by death and I want to fight with magic without anyone knowing

Is anyone else making a list of names you see in these threads, so that when you run your own game you can avoid these "celebrities"?

How broken would it be to give somebody a second swift action on their turn at the cost of a feat?

Is PoW or SoM in use? If so, then extremely.

Which celebrities are you trying to avoid the hardest?

I did that ages ago

Honestly? Don't.
Be a mage, a full-fledged wizard. Summon elementals, cast fireballs, make alarm spells. Then present yourself to any faction and say "I'm a mage, a very rare and valuable commodity in this country. Protect me, and I'll work for you."

>implying you'll ever run a game

You're a fool if you think that even half of the names thrown out aren't just people flinging shit for literally no reason; just because someone is named doesn't mean they've actually DONE anything, just that someone decided "you know what, today, I arbitrarily hate this person". Granted, sometimes they do actually do something worth noting, but for the most part a Cabalite or a Discordian is just... there. They're another person in the crowd, watching what's happening, doing nothing of note or value or worthy of ridicule/adoration like some people seem to think they deserve.

He loves it. They all love it. It's the most attention any of them have ever gotten.

>Cabalite or a Discordian
>Tfw we will never develop a setting of /pfg/istan where these two people are at war
What other things would a /pfg/ inspired cancersetting have?

Slaanesh.

Depends a fair bit on what level you are, what material is allowed, and what classes are in play.

If your characters are 3/4 6th-level gishes, then extra swift actions could make their features work a lot nicer, providing a modest increase in power.

If your characters are high-level spellcasters then that's an extra Quickened Spell per turn, even more rocket tag.

If your characters have access to PoW and Spheres, which are balanced around a hard limit of one swift action per turn, enemies are utterly fucked.

>Being a 40kiddie
I know we're cancer, but we haven't metastasized THAT much. We aren't forcing new boards into existence.

5e: We’re exploring the wasteland of a dragon attack as we escort a bunch of rescued slaves back to civilization. We managed to reach a fort, so hopefully the people will be safe now.

Upcoming Weeklies: We’ve got: A) the party attending a Masquerade ball with powerful and frightening guests, hosted by an immortal, disembodied mage, B) a trip to the big city to get a new job from some powerful people, and C) Betrayal by a party member in an impossible labyrinth.

Lots to chew on.

I usually just pick a culture and steal
Names or make something up if it’s elf stuff

>Born of a Yew tree
>Perfect, Genuine
>Long-lived
>flash of lightning
>Joy
>Pearl

Yea, I go hard into name meanings even though I know nobody else will care

Sleep, Succula, Slow, pretty much anybody else who's only joining to try and get their imaginary dick wet.

Which currently recruiting /pfg/ games should I look at?
Which should I avoid?

app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/93553/a-wizard-tower
app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/93719/welcome-to-north-high
app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/94678/from-gallows-to-gridlock

Like it or not, this is what you got.

Okay, to the point:
Between wizard tower and gallows, which one is more likely to happen?
Should I just wait for another game?

Both seem pretty likely

Seems like there's more to those three specifically if you need to give them special mention.

Both seem likely to start. As for which is likely to carry through to its conclusion, Wizard Tower.

Those chucklefucks are the most notoriously thirsty namefags in the /pfg/ community.

If I use disguse self as a tiefling, asimaar etc, I can only disguise myself as another outsider, right? Can I look like a very humanoid one? If not, what outsider are more human-looking?

What potions would you recommend at lvl 6?

You can disguise yourself as a humanoid, you just take the penalties for doing so as per usual for disguising yourself as another species.

Fly, if you don't have some method of flight already.

A potion to boost your most necessary physical stat, or just Bear's Endurance if you're a caster or you already have a belt for Strength or Dex.

And at least one emergency potion of cure serious wounds, or at least cure moderate.

All these depend on whether you have the money for them, or someone in the party who can craft them.

What do you do when you end up as the designated whipping boy of your gaming group? When everything you say is stupid and every suggestion you make is wrong, just because you made it?

Just fucking leave. You don't need to stand for it. No game is better than a bad game.
If your group is as toxic as the average /pfg/ game, just tell the fuckers going "PFFT LOL YOU'RE DUMB!" that you're done.

Personally he's always been my absolute least favorite personality

When your player character dies, what do you do? Do you try and find ways to rez yourself? Or do you say fuck it and build a new character? My group is doing a module and basically we are very close to finishing. My character was the last remaining original member of the starting group. Normally I would say fuck it and start making another character out of my growing list of backup characters I have theory crafted. But since we were almost done and I was the last original member, I wanted to at least one character finish something from start to finish.

tl;dr Do you guys prefer rezing your character or just building a new one when a player character dies?

Depends on a few things. I'd make a new character if it's too costly for the party to rez me, if it's a good end for that character's arc, or if I'm just tired of playing them and want to try something new.

>succula is so bad that satan finds him to be shit tier
how can he ever recover?

I'm working out the final details of another game to add to that list, could be worth waiting. Shouldn't be long.

have you guys ever accidently killed someone important that you didnt' actually mean to? I feel bad for killing an npc, like I had noting personal against him, he was good, I just made a mistake.

We just ban ressurrection. We prefer that death have more weight.

This Seriously, the "it's just a prank, bro" mentality of /pfg/ makes it fundamentally hazardous to your mental health.

Take it from someone that was in that position with the GM and his roommate, if they don't respect you enough to make you feel welcome in a game that's all about working together, then do what's right for YOU and ditch them, preferably in a way that lets them know that it's their crappy behavior towards you that caused it.

UW Ranger and Barbarian archetype scans ever posted?

What's the best way to compute DPR?

Also, is there a way to get bonus to hit on kineticist's blasts?

Add up all your damage, compare attack rolls with average AC/etc per monster CR tables.

Anyone tried running a campaign playing as members of the glorious reclamation or another faction attempting all out rebellion in Cheliax?

I don't think so. But that's an interesting idea...a sort of "Reverse Hell's Vengeance." At least do it in a way that would make sense, like if the Worldwound was already sealed like at the end of "Wrath of the Righteous," that would mean the church of Iomedae could divert more resources to unfucking Cheliax. Add the circumstances surrounding "Theives Council" and "Hell's Rebels," and it would be a pretty logical conclusion.

For certain classes (like anything from PoW) it's insanely broken. It actually works really well for 1 - 4 casters. Yeah it favours the Paladin due to Litanies and LoH but just add some more swift/immediate spells to their lists. That and having 1 - 4 casters actually start as casters (as in their caster level = their level) go a huge way to improving those classes if that interests you.

>Take build CR equivalent
>find out the median AC
>[Hit chance*average damage per hit+Crit Threat chance*Crit Confirm chance*(Crit Multiplier-1)*Crit Damage]
>Weep as every time you do the math you forget some sort of modifier

Girlfriend wants to play pathfinder, I'm happy to DM but don't have time to make my own campaign, just going to run an AP.
Issue is that we're having trouble getting a table together, so considering just running a solo campaign.
Any advise on running a solo campaign? Ways of making making her character strong enough?
I was thinking of making her gestalt and starting level 2 or something.

Perhaps Rory left the cabal so spectacularly because he wanted one last fuck you to pfg

Makes you think don't it.

user do you remember the 800-post autism chain that spawned because no one went to a new thread

> At least do it in a way that would make sense, like if the Worldwound was already sealed like at the end of "Wrath of the Righteous," that would mean the church of Iomedae could divert more resources to unfucking Cheliax.
That would be rather exciting to follow up a Wrath campaign with, especially if you continue as your old PC's and mythic veteran crusaders.

When you say the circumstances of hell's rebels, do you mean that Kintargo would already be independent at the start as if that path was finished or something else?

>like if the Worldwound was already sealed
Then it would just be a new Shining Crusade. Pretty great.

I often run solo campaigns for a friend, just give her a dedicated healer if she is a fighter or a tank if she is a caster, and never forget she the solo player is the focus of the story. Combat gets really grindy, well it always is, but it is much more noticeable with just one player. You get to focus more on the narrative part and roleplay much more than with a typical larger crew. I ran through wrath of the righteous, as a solo player (paladin) you basicly get tot be the Chosen One TM which is fun if you like over the top fantasy

I want to play face of the party and I have already done bard twice, recommend something cool? I'm not too experienced

Int or Wis party face.

Inquisitor or Alchemist

Nailed it like the Romans. With Kintargo as a newly independent state showing that rebelling from cheliax is possible, and the revelations in Theives Council, Cheliax would actually be in pretty dire straits.
