death guard army iv'e been working on (Any C&C is much appreciated as iv'e only been painting for around 6 months )
Jordan Barnes
looks like it's coming along nicely. the armour needs a bit of touching up where you've overspilled the metallics but that's easy enough to fix
Thomas Roberts
what a shit time to run out of gold. also aside from the missed things like the purity seals, is it ok? I love this model, its probably my favorite humanish sized model.
Joshua Sanchez
I'm looking at doing a nid army in a hornet color scheme like pic related. Any one got recommend list of paint colors I'd need to achieve a similar result?
Kevin Sullivan
"better" quality photo
Julian Parker
I like the face, very experssive. Not to keep on the thunderhammer though, something looks a bit off but I can't quite place what.
Bentley Perry
its niloxide to kind of copy the ghostly look. Its probably drybrused white too heavy
looks decent from 8 inches away, but my camera was about 2 away.
Michael James
slight update on the ork. just got the other axe andthe rest of his cape to do now
Noah Stewart
I'd clean up the eye and plasma vents a bit. Otherwise pretty good.
James Parker
i like it. I hope orks aren't has horde-y as in fantasy. That much detail could drive you insane on 100 rank and file dudes.
Jaxson Hill
It's just for shadespire so fortuneately it's only 4 boyz to paint. Painting an actaul horde army would be hell with my glacial painting speed
Nathan Bennett
I really like your work.
Parker Richardson
My Tau Armored division is making progress. One more Hammerhead and the 1000pt core is complete.
Grayson Adams
Finished the stormcast dudes. About to start my barbarians. I'm worried about acheiving a good flesh. The face on steelheart is the only flesh I've painted yet. I've only got Rakarth, Cadian, Kislev, and pallid Wych flesh paints. I've got lots of other colors, just not much in way of flesh. Also I primed them brown so hopefully that will look good for flesh. It was great for the gold's on stormcast.

>Do I receive a confirmation after signup? Yes, I send 'em out as soon as I see the email, shouldn't take longer than 1-2 days. If you got none til then, resend a mail.
>What shall I include in the email? Well, your address, obviously. You also can include what you are collecting etc, but don't expect to get something related to that 100%
>What shall I gift? I don't know, use your imagination! You can check last year's SS here: imgur.com/a/1fxhq
>How much should I gift? Well it should be at least 10-15$ in value, so that it is worthwhile all the hassle. But you can also go higher and nobody will say a thing if it's only 7.85$. It's the gesture that counts.
>When do we get our matches? The matching will take place Dec 1st and after that, you'll receive an email with the address of your match
>What about shipping costs? I try to do continental matching, so they shouldn't be too high. If you specifically want someone from another continent, I also try to aarrange that!
>What do if I get grinched? Email me and I'll try to contact your match. If we can't sort it out, he'll get put onto the naughty list. Often, we find kind anons jumping and sending something to you in this case!
>Why the fuck are we doing this? Because /WIP/ is literally the most wholesome online community.
>Do people sign up from country XY? Most people sign up from NA and EU, but also from Australia, Japan, whatever. If you only want to participate of someone else from your country registers, you can ask in advance, just shoot an email.
Elijah Hill
looks really nice, only bad thing is the gap/rough shoulder pad on hammer guy, it really could have done with being filled before you painted it
Asher Fisher
Love that turquoise! Do you still work on the silver? It looks a little unfinished to me
David Butler
I know I screwed it on the modelling. The push-fits weren't friendly to sub assemblies. I fucked up the paint at one point trying to push fit them to bases. For next warbands I'm probably fully assembling (except maybe the bases). For the Reavers I've already filled the huge gaps in a few of the guys
Michael Myers
Does anybody know where I could find some 28/32mm katana bits, either sheathed or drawn? I’m looking to make some elves even more weeaboo.
Cooper Jackson
Proceeding slowly on my Retro Marines test model. Fuck yellow is hard to paint, even over Averland Sunset. Still, got a good result. Now we're getting to the fun part - highlighting the armor.
Alexander Howard
yellow and black
Matthew Richardson
Let's give it one more go!
Beastmen Regiment box got.
Dubs decide what I try to make out of them. Still NO guard regiment.
Logan Ramirez
That’s beautiful!
Daniel Ortiz
40k chaos beastmen
Austin Wilson
It's be cool to inject a tiny bit of warmth into the skin tones on the extremes like the ears, nose and lips. People usually do pink, I don't imagine that would work on your scheme, a hint of the mauve you used inside the mouth would look good though.
Joshua Bennett
BeastKroot. You gotta
Nicholas Clark
thats dope
Cameron White
WINRAR
And actually pretty dope idea! Thanks! We'll see what I can come up with.
Matthew Gomez
First GW tool I've bought in about fifteen years. £5 is actually cheap too.
Christian Wood
Don't you mean 5 pounds plus shipping? :V
Camden Scott
But does it fit a picatinny rail?
Elijah Parker
Is it that cheap? I was thinking of using cork + poster tack but if the handle is that cheap I'm gonna get that instead
Christopher Lopez
There you go. Now stop posting the same thing over and over and do some hobbying instead
Anthony Perry
Here you go.
Zachary Gonzalez
I'm waiting on the final rathcore handle reviews and see what they're like before blowing 5 on that handle. Seems like the first GW product tool that has a decent quality and price.
Robert Moore
this desu. I want the meme bar thing.
Lucas Rodriguez
thats actually really cool user, looks good too
Thomas Morales
Somebody try and post pics. Citadel manufactured stubby grips now.
Ryan Reed
Tamiya varnish finally arrived. This means Johnnypharius is finally done. Enjoy.
Ethan Harris
...
Luis Anderson
Great! Now go and take a decent picture
Michael Sullivan
Fridgeposting incoming then.
Jason Powell
The color on the hammerhead seems way out of place with the rest of the model. It's also pretty flat from what I can see. Has it been washed?
Zachary Phillips
That's an amazing paint scheme, what's the battlesuits/infantry loom like?
Sebastian Myers
I presume the hex effect is airbrushed. Do you mask it off each time, or have you built a template that you can reuse?
Ryan Thompson
...
Evan Cox
Here's something I just turned in for a small contest in my LGS. Freehanding that shit was hard. I'm used to much more forgiving techniques.
Anthony Long
Ok, never seen these before. Fugging expensive, but they don't require you to have the mini already on a citadel base. Hmm
Samuel Martin
doesn't look much more elaborate than a wooden dowel and some poster tack. Always did that and I must have spent less than a buck. Ugly, but cheap and it works.
Daniel Diaz
Did you post the method for the turquoise in another thread? It looks really nice.
Colton Gomez
wow, love the checkers
Jordan Robinson
Better. Well done for the armor.
Austin Miller
Its actually amazing
Brayden Lopez
It has the cork thing for grabbing pins, so no drilling every time, which is maybe nice?
I dunno, still not seeing the price.
Bentley Robinson
Thanks! Any suggestions for highlights, shades, primers?
Brody Hernandez
Looks fantastic user. You make a really good Lamenter.
Liam Cruz
The model needs more cleaning up.
Dylan Nelson
>metal white lions
HNNNGG
Connor Nelson
The weathering and the OSL effect on the eyes are especially good on those. Well done lad.
Gabriel King
Have to admit that I'm tempted to buy one as well. How does it compare to blutac and a cork?
Dominic Phillips
Is the base weighted at all? Or is it likely to topple over if I set it down for a moment?
Ian White
As a white tack and paint pot person, I prefer this new tool, less chance of moving or falling off over time.
It's hollow plastic so fairly light but it shouldn't fall over as the handle is quite bulbous.
Nathaniel Gray
Awesome!
John Nelson
well meme'd
Parker Johnson
Its white drybrush over nihil oxide. Should I do a wash of nihil over that?
Evan Clark
Still working on putting together Spire of Dawn, starting with elfs. They are really lovely models, it's a shame they'll be destroyed if I my spastic ass chooses to paint them. I'm more of a builder/modeler than a painter. What are some really fun and challenging kits you guys have built? I have been tempted to try a Baneblade or something from Forge World like Death Korps. I have not tried working with resin besides some shitcast a few years back.
Jose Cox
How is this any better than gripping it from the base like I have been doing for 20 years?
Christian Harris
2nd ed Ultramarine scheme is best
Aiden Nelson
Hello lads,
What do you use to protect your dudes once you have finished them to stop chips and such?
I imagine gloss varnish is not useful for anything apart from windows etc.
Thanks.
Evan Moore
Were you able to get ahold of the organizer and get the naughty listers from last year?
very nice conversion, very nurgly. I would personally give it a light wash of reikland fleshshade or something to that effect on the fleshy bits to give it a more sickly look.
Blake Brooks
Vallejo matte varnish for infantry. On vehicles I mix it 5/1 with gloss varnish.
Landon Thomas
I can give that a shot!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
Aiden Reyes
straight paint thinner wont damage old metal models will it? i wanna leave em to soak while i'm away for a week
Ryan Ward
Floor polish. It's like hard wearing acrylic gloss varnish, but instead of getting a 17ml dropper bottle of the stuff for your £2 you get a litre of it. Plus it imparts a pleasant perfumed aroma to your minis.
Once you've put a coat or two of that on (or another gloss varnish if you really are intent on wasting your money) they'll stand up to a bit of punishment, then you can apply a matt varnish to any parts you don't want glossy (or a mix of the two if you want a more satin finish). AK Ultra Matt is the best I've encountered, it's like the matt-est stuff you've ever seen; not even the slightest hint of a shine, and you don't have to shake it for half your natural life like some other brands.
I'm a big fan of using the level of gloss as a final touch of realism, it can really help to make a model more convincing if the different materials it's supposed to be made out of have the right sheen to them. It never seems to get addressed in painting guides, but I think that's because it doesn't show up in pictures. On a three dimensional model it's the tits.
Josiah Green
I bought some random shit at a swap meet.
here they are, so far.
Jackson Ward
No but it'll fuck up plastic bases, and plastic components you've stuck onto the metal( eg space marine backpacks)
Christopher Kelly
>gripping it from the base
Jack Peterson
Yeah. It looks better IRL than in the picture. Cameras always seem to make my models look like ass. :c
Chase Hill
thanks! i have already removed all the bases. they are all single piece metal blood bowl and guard so nothing else to worry about.
Connor Gomez
>Cameras always seem to make my models look like ass. I know your pain
Jason Bailey
Come at me bro?
Adam Hernandez
Granted neither of us is using a lightbox. Still, these super-mega-pixel cameras pick out details that we would normally miss.
Carter Bell
>ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!
Cameron Turner
the mold lines!
Christian Evans
Yeah cameras always make my face look like ass too user.
Yep.
It's the cameras fault. I mean if you view my face from 6 foot away with the naked eye it looks fine.
Juan Ramirez
Nigger, the camera didn't fucking miss painting those parts or correcting mistakes.
Parker Thomas
Racist language is not allowed outside of /b/ and /pol/.
Gavin Taylor
Sounds like you belong here, grognard.
Christian Wright
You will not post any of the following outside of /b/: Trolls, flames, racism, off-topic replies, uncalled for catchphrases, macro image replies, indecipherable text (example: "lol u tk him 2da bar|?"), anthropomorphic ("furry") or grotesque ("guro") images, post number GETs ("dubs"), or loli/shota pornography.
it's not actually allowed on /pol/ either
Jordan Rodriguez
Hey, could you please tell me how you did the skin? This tone is my most favorite and I'd like to copy it for my orcs!
Austin Robinson
Can i see a pic of one of your dudes?
I think this is a ruse
Jose Rivera
Future Floor Polish (knows as Pledge these days) is something that's used quite frequently as a varnish in normal model building (not wargaming). It's also used to coat transparent parts to make them clearer and more shiny (like full dip and drip dry).
So it's not inconceivable that user is using the stuff for his models.
Gabriel Hill
WELL, WHAT IS IT?
William Hill
That camo is fucking sexy so far
Jaxson Morales
It would leave your models really shiny though, which usually looks like shit, I think. I'd use matte varnish, either in stead of the shiny stuff or on top of it, if you want it extra safe from chipping and the greasy fingers of players less gifted in the art of sanitation.
