What are some ideas or monsters unique to your setting?

oh my god this fucking art

There's no point still linking to the ToC and player options.
The full pdf is on the trove.

Zombie generator set up for Necromancer and pals? Asking for a friend.

Warlock vid on patrons.

Gotcha covered.

4e is pretty fun, and more balanced. 5e does have really fun casters though.

Is he fingering that racoon?

Well that is a porn artist.

When you just know

thoughts?

Extending my reminder as always, if you want a monster from 3.5 edition converted to 5e I will give it a shot. Just check my blog in about a week and it should be done. I think I've failed to post some requests but I never got any feedback on them so I couldn't complete them.

I'd unironically take this over the CR 1/4 Monstrosity in the OP image.

that bitch is wearing levis

"bladerager"?

and apparently it's that time of the month for Rocket too

It's the name of the creature in 3.5. Don't ask me, some of the names were pretty lame, but I want to do straight conversions to avoid confusion.

are you like going to put a pdf together or what

List of natural weapon when? I want to make a beast warlock.

>Weapon (greataxe), very rare (requires attunement)

>This greataxe scores a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20 (If you're a champion or hexblade, it instead extends your critical range by one). When it scores a critical hit, it deals an extra 2d12 slashing damage.

>This weapon has 3 charges. You can expend a number of charges to cast elemental weapon on this greataxe (1 charge - 3rd level version; 2 charges - 5th level version; 3 charges - 7th level version). It regains 1 expended charge every day at dawn.

What name do I give this weapon?

Eventually I hope to. I have that thing that someone put together where you can code PDFs in 5e's formatting and style. Hopefully I can make a third-to-fifth monster manual.

XGTE full PDF when ? the OP contains only a preview doesnt it?

You're doing god's work user.

give it a historical background, was it used by a king? did a legendary blacksmith make it? are there rumors or myths that follow such a weapon?

Yep, it's just the catgirl pdf again. You're very clever for not falling for it.

i apologize for posting, ive read your post too late

When you learn to look

everyone's saying that avariel are bad because they lose the secondary stat up, but i feel like elves get a lot of shit already and flying is PRETTY good

Elemental Weapon only works on non-magical weapons champ

He's a homebrewer, he can't be expected to actually read the book.

Level 3 sorcerer planning on taking 2 levels of hexblade bladepact warlock so i can cast spells with a talking sword. DM's keen on letting me cast sorc spells along with warlock ones with it once i have improved pact weapon in exchange for dropping the +1 to rolls.
I can't understand something though, hexblade means making a pact with a sentient weapon that you use. Blade pact says "You can’t affect an artifact or a sentient weapon in this way.". This sounds like the exact opposite of what should be happening. Does it only refer to the "pulling it out of thin air" part or can i just not make it my pact weapon at all?
Also, will having fire bolt, eldritch blast and fireball be enough to cover damage dealing so i can fill the rest of my known spells with more utility?

well you should publish them as you go either in small batches or as versions (0.1) because unless people are playing with them you aren't really going to get useful feedback

I've read the spell, this magic weapon trumps the nonmagical restriction. You may notice it doesn't have any permanent +X bonus.

english

>a force that manifests
in sentient magic weapons carved from the stuff of shadow

manifests and in "gets created"

you cannot make an already sentient weapon sentient. you also can't woke an artifact.

Autism test: can a battlemaster use his maneuvers in a person shaped rock? On an immobile person afflicted briefly with the petrify condition? On a rock that doesn't do anything but for whatever reason the DM has a creature stat block for?

If no to any if these questions, explain yourself.

There is no point in taking firebolt if you have eldritch blast

Just use a two handed weapon and you can cast sorc spells with your free hand

Also any DM who sperges over foci and free hand mechanics is a twit

He's been posting each monster here for feedback, so I think he's aware to not just bukkake his shit everywhere.

I've got them on a blog, I am hoping someday someone will use them and give me feedback.

OK whatever bro its your game

Starting at high level. Waking from sequester spell sound to be a good start.

>You may notice it doesn't have any permanent +X bonus.
You may notice that wasn't the issue.

>Be Half-Elf/High Elf Swords Bard/Fighter with Booming Blade + War Caster
>Cast Steel Wind Strike
>Teleport behind surviving target
>ACTION SURGE
>Whisper nothing personal kid...
>Cast Dissonant Whispers
>Hope they fail the save and run
>Cast Booming Blade
>Inspire my buddies who saw that.

This is now the plan and you can't stop me!

>person shaped rock
Not if the maneuver specifies that it must target a creature such as Distracting, Goading, Menacing etc etc
>petrified creature
It is still a creature so maneuvers still work
>rock
Is it a creature or is it an object

Just don't call the axe a magical weapon and you'll get around the restriction.

You have autism.

So long as you pronounce it "nothin personel" then go for it. If you're gonna meme at least do it right.

Then how do I explain its power to allow the wielder to cast elemental weapon?

depends on the setting

"The DM didn't thought this through."

...

You are the reason we think homebrewers are retarded.

Not really, its pretty clear which maneuvers must target creatures and which ones need not

...

resposting my monster stats pls give critique

>mastercraft weapon
>gnomish artifice
>dwarven super-smithing
>elven shenanigans
>psionics

>Designing magic items for own campaign
>Homebrew faggotry

This isn't an absurdly imbalanced wish fulfillment class, it's an axe that isn't in the DMG. Lighten the fuck up

>psionics
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>in a person shaped rock
This is a trick, right?

Here's a real question for /5eg/, and it's not a retarded one.

For the purposes of being a high-defense magic-assisted martial "tank", what is superior: A Valor or Sword Bard, or an Eldritch Knight?

Examples and math are important.

Have you guys already discussed the good, the bad and the ugly of Xanathar's?

a hexblade with a 1 level dip for heavy armor

Could you post the monster math you did to get to CR 5? I am worried, especially because of its Skinspawn ability.

>it's an axe that isn't in the DMG
Does that not make it homebrew? Is he still not completely retarded for not knowing how the spell he wants to give it works, or being able to come up with some sort of explanation for why it isn't magical?

Legendary resistance

You could rephrase the item's description to mimick the spell's effect, without casting the spell itself. I think there's some precedent for that, but I could be wrong.

Coming up with items is "typical homebrew scum?"

You can expend a number of charges as a bonus action to empower it for up to 1 hour. You gain a bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon equal to the number of charges spent. Also, choose one of the following damage types - acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder. For the same duration, it deals extra damage of the chosen type when it hits. This damage is a number of d4s equal to the number of charges spent. You must maintain concentration, as if concentrating on a spell. It regains 1 expended charge every day at dawn.

You autists happy now?

Refine the rules regarding the Skinspawn feature, and give Skin Slap a different name because holy shit that's not spooky at all.

All according to plan.

EK. Higher AC through plate and shield, fighting style, and can cast Shield just as much (but won't have to as often because of the previously established higher AC).

Hexblade isn't an option. Even if it was, it'd still probably be wrong.

The removing hit dice thing seems a bit strange but I have mostly run 5e, only played a little, so I don't know how much it matters to lose a hit die for regaining hp. Nice idea though. I'd make the thing outright immune to necrotic in some ways.... but in other ways perhaps not. I'd maybe say the envelop ability should give the blinded and restrained conditions, but that's just me. Look at something like the roper for advice on how to phrase it. Overall the monster looks pretty good, imo. Pretty close to the original's CR, so that's nice.

>Bear Totem Barbarian

No, really. For a certain definition of Tank. You gain resistance to everything but things that attack your feelings, and through reckless attack you can accrue 'aggro'. I challenge you to find a DM that won't be tempted by advantage on attack throws.

But, please define 'magic-assisted martial tank'.

>Shield
I wish this meme would die. Shield is great for a Wizard who doesn't want to die. Shield is terrible for a melee who's trying to oppress the enemy.

>Hit Hexblade on first attack
>Hexblade casts Shield
>Creature takes its two other multiattacks and runs away from the stupid Hexblade now and whallops on the mage.
>Second creature also does the same. Seriously, no Attack of Opportunity from the Adventurer with 25 standing AC? Ignore him.

>Coming up with items is "typical homebrew scum?"
Yes?

The save DCs, and HP are much lower than they should be for a CR5 monster. A CR5 monster should have a save DC of 15 for it's abilities, and at least 130 HP. I tuned the damage and to hit bonus up to compensate, but I'm open to adjusting all the numbers.

Noted.

Before you posted I actually added those conditions, and I'll look into the cloaker.

In your group, what's of a higher priority, the game or real life things such as work or studying for exams?

especially on a hexblade, using one of your two slots for +5 ac is completely retarded

>You autists happy now?
>Veeky Forums
>happy
You ARE retarded, aren't you?

>Ugly

Serious question:

Can I actually get a Tortle to work as a Bear Shaman?

Understood will do!

Real life things, not worth someone risking their ass just when we can do shit next week.

>Red Mage
>Not Arcana Cleric

>Bear Shaman
What's that?

Yes, glue on some fur

Couple questions:
Does Swashbuckler 3/Hexblade-blade pact X work well?
Does anyone else find Xanathar's quotes a little annoying? He's meant to be a narcissistic criminal mastermind but the writing makes him sound like a Borderlands character.

If a game is more important to you than real life you need to get some help my friend. :3

I just returned from a one-shot where a female player named her genderless wizard Gandalf, and a super-ultra non-passable tranny played a genderless character too, and started off with talking about how the PHB doesn't specifically say you need to pick a gender.

Damn boys. Game was fine otherwise, but it was Red Flag country for a while there.

What you call a Barbarian when you are drunk. Sorry about that.

>Borderlands character
He is narcissistic and insane. So, mission accomplished.

Good thing I said EK and not the meme garbage that is Hexblade. The high standard AC of 20 takes care of most things while keeping some enemies in a state of "maybe I can still hit him", and you only need Shield for the clearly hefty attacks or if you're in a bad spot.

>Damn boys. Game was fine otherwise, but it was Red Flag country for a while there.
Wait for it.

Fuck
Even adventurers league doesn't get weirdos that bad
I mean where I go we have one non passable tranny (I think, he might just be ugly and have long hair) but at least everyone can choose a fucking gender

>expecting Californians to not be "funny," quip masters
I will say a couple were okay and most ignorable but the fucking barbarian one makes me wanna tear that page out.

Other than mentioning it, did it really effect the flow of the game? Another player in my game has a halfling rogue called Frodo.

Refluff bear as a turtle with the same mechanics and you'll be fine, if I recall correctly both PHB and SCAG recommend swapping animals for fluff.

Best healing class aside from Life Cleric? I have to fill for my upcoming game.

Oh cool.

You don't worship bears, you just like what they simbolize: resilience

What's the best Bladesinger build. Do I go high, wood, or drow? What if my DM lifts the race restriction?

>Homebrew
Definitely. I personally find making custom items to be one of the mildest and most common examples of homebrewing, though, and not warranting the same screeching as a shitty class or something.

>Completely retarded for overlooking something in the spell description
Not really, it's a minor mistake, unless it made the thing horribly imbalanced. In this case it's pretty much just semantics- the original spell's wording prevents stacking effects, but the additional effect is built into this weapon's design. That and it's one of the tenants of the edition's design that "exceptions trump the original rule."

Druid with that one XGE spell

Which one? Because:
>You know one of the great benefits of living underground? No weather. Don't mess this up for me.
on the storm barbarian was actually kinda funny.
