Rolled 82 (1d100)

Alright senpai. Let's stumble into this shit.

Rolled 61 (1d100)

Let's get supernatural.

No updates in months to Trove, but Lost Tales of Myth Drannor shows up!? Cray

>I stayed away from Simulacrum because the GM out some very strict limits on them (Only ever 1 at a time, Simulacrum can't target myself, and a simulacrum can never summon anything for any reason)
>GM hands out a spell book on a dead wizard with Simulacrum
>Copy it, not sure if I'll use it
>Banter at the camp fire, as I am copying the spell and testing it as per the scribing procedure
>The Rogue, a Swashbuckler with high Charisma, jokes about making a clone of her to "double her *performance*"
>Nervoussweating.jpg
So my virgin wizard got bullied into simulacrum'ing our Rogue.

But God damn, our party felt like it would drastically ourscale a Rogue, but her having 2 identical Rogues is pretty terrifying. Written off as "long lost twin sister" in social situations, which is just as well when the GM murdered her entire family with Fey creatures at level 5.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Simulacrum is just a copy, straight up, right? So it isn't unreasonable to let her control both, right? I sure as hell don't want to bother controlling it, I am not reading up on 17 levels of features for a Swashbuckler Rogue. I just want to make sure we are using it correctly.

Last thread died, so I'm going to ask again!

>How viable are mounted builds in Storm King's Thunder? I'm aiming for a Horse-into-Pegasus Fighter (Cavalier) and while Cavalier's fine and dandy on foot, I'd like to use the mount.

>Written off as "long lost twin sister" in social situations

Made entirely out of snow and ice?

>Appears the same as the original
I assumed the description means that it looks actually identical, colours and everything.

Rolled 64 (1d100)

Life Event Rollan

Of all modules SKT is probably the most compatible with mounted combat. Large open hallways meant for giants gives plenty of room.

Wide and very tall, I bet! Thank you so much, user. I’m going to have a lot of fun building this character.

Wouldn't be surprised if OP is that avatarfag who keeps posting images of her each time he posts.

We had no real mounted combatants, and I'd estimate we all used mounts 80% of the time in that campaign. I'd say go for it.

Since your Gm is houseruling a ton already, just ask him.

But yes, normally it is just a clone of the target, with a lot of limits on regaining spell slots and shit. A Rogue wouldnt give a shit, so that seems like a solid choice honestly.

Just let her control them as identical twins with similar opinions and way of thinking.

So the party is now heading to stop a Lich from unveiling arcane secrets to a long-term villain of the theirs. The thing is, they don't entirely know this is a Lich nor do they know what he is capable of.
Party is around level 11, might be 12 by the time they go. I want this Lich to be a menace when they try to confront him. I've heard some tactics for running a Lich like giving him magic items or adjusting his spell list to be more thematic. What have you done with your Lich, 5eg?

So did you fuck?

Because of how action economy works, one of the best things for any boss is to give them minions.

With a lich in particular, make them revived heroes of legend of something, make a lich who's been "collecting" for awhile.

Your simulacrum follows your commands.
>virgin wizard
Is the rogue cute?
You have a perfect copy that does whatever you tell her to do.

Let the rogue control her on your turn. And then cast true polymorph so she can become permanent living clone.

My autistic wizard is too much of a scaredy cat to ask.

>Is the rogue cute?
Pic related

>Your simulacrum follows your commands.
Good catch. I have to keep that in mind.

new barrows armor looks worse than old barrows armor

I don't think it'd be unreasonable to just give the simulacrum a command to follow somebody else's orders as if they were you.

>What have you done with your Lich, 5eg?

My Lich is basically the architect of most of the world's troubles. He has intricately planned much of the current crises plaguing the world, especially involving the cults and barbarians that have been pillaging the continent that the adventurers have been facing. The Lich is mostly doing it because he and another villain are pretty much aware that the world is a dream. So they take an nihilistic approach to magic, with gist of: "Nothing really matters in this world, we do what we want for our own sake. Everyone who can't use magic like us is a filthy casual and deserves to be ruled over." Since the campaign is coming to a close(unless the players want to go again), this last dungeon is going to be especially deadly.

In regards to creating a challenge, this guy has the right idea. To those impressive people who are able to actually face the Lich without be killed by its traps or minions, should have the glorious honor of serving them for eternity as a thrall.

>Let the rogue control her on your turn.
We have so far let it have the same initiative as the original, letting them act simultaneously.

>And then cast true polymorph so she can become permanent living clone.
Oh, would that remove the Dispel Magic weakness?

>would that remove the Dispel Magic weakness?
I don't think so, the spell will linger until dispelled.
Which is interesting, because you don't need to have an identity crisis when true polymorphing self, you can just ask someone to try dispelling you after you're done saving the world.

>Elf subraces
>Shadar-fucking-kai
Is there absolutely nothing 5e can't fuck up?

Oh damn.

Is there any way to protect against dispel magic? I mean, the Rogue has no real magical aid normally, so it isnt really a prime target between a Wizard, Druid and Paladin, but it would still be nice to have some kind of aid to prevent the simulacrum from getting removed with a dispel.

Concentrate on this spell for the full duration, the transformation becomes permanent. The only thing unsure about it is if it personality as a simulacrum carry over.

If 5e is so caster oriented, why is there no mystic theurge?

Nvm, It retains its alignment and personality. Just focus for 1 hour and you have a permanent loyal rogue.

Make sure to find cover between turns?

Reminder that Dispel Magic can be Counter-Spelled if you can see it being cast.

Wish + Simulacrum

Kinda wish Scanlan went full crazy with this....

Have you missed the Theurgy?

But... there literally is.
media.wizards.com/2016/dnd/downloads/UA Non-Divine Faithful SFG.pdf

>follow somebody else's orders as if they were you
>simulacrum immediately starts bullying rogue

Now, we are here to have a discussion, so feel free to give your honest hard-hitting opinion.

the Lich has a ring of three wishes

>Not wanting two beautiful and charismatic rogues bullying you

You've already fucked it, considering the Lich can now just literally wish the party out of existence.

I'd seriously consider re-thinking this part.

You can't dispelled a true polymorph. You will have to true polymorph them back

Like the Wish spell explains, wishing for something that outrageous tends to only become a teleport or time travel spell.

When the bad guy is on the brink of defeat, have him use his last wish to wish the party out of existence, and then vanish with no explanation. The Lich time-travelled into the future. Next campaign hook.

sageadvice.eu/2017/01/15/when-true-polymorph-is-done-can-it-be-dispelled-anymore/

Like the wish spell explains, it's extremely vague and up to some pretty subjective interpretation.

Are you going to waste level 9 dispelled x amount time on true polymorph on a single creature?

I like it. Brings more emphasis on the otherworldly-ness

>Wishing for something outrageous becomes a time-travel spell
>Somehow this is less outrageous.

Okay, my players are smashing through my encounters at a lightning fast pace. Today's session was 5+ combat/social/skill encounters an hour, for 6 hours. 35+ encounters just got demolished out of my prep. I had 5, maybe stretched into 6 encounters left when we ended. My local map is depleted and I need to craft up a large province map.

They've been the ambushees, and then they were the ambushers. They fought a storm off in a windmill, and negotiated with a hostage for the hostage-takers life. They tracked down themselves as a bounty, and decided to save a dog over saving a woman bitten by a werewolf. They've fought crabs with clubs, swarms of fish with greataxes, giant octopus almost swam off with the healer, and sahaugin riding sharks attempted to kill someone they were escorting. They've boasted of their feats in pubs and taverns, cartwheeled through traps of fire(well, some did, others certainly did not), hired cows to carry their treasure, and prayed at temples. They've hunted Ankheg the Tornado and fought off swarms of bees with longbows. They've chased an archdruid halfway through a forest, torched their way through Blights, and coerced a Nereid to serve them. They've commandeered the ghost ship, searched ancient libraries for ancient secrets, eaten the forbidden vegetables, wrestled fire snakes, found a Phoenix to resurrect the Bandit Captain of Devilish Insight and Distrust, and spoke with the Treants.

More stuff happened this session but I don't remember it all.

-I'm-out-of-material- the only thing I have left really is a Wyvern that's a moving portal to the Feywild in a game of hunt-or-be-hunted. I've got group of mystical beings merely posing as players, because I've never had anybody fly through so much material. Not one time they need a rule clarification, get off topic, or delay on their turn. I feel like if I were to run out of material, they would show their fangs and eat me. Help.

Is true polymorph still temporary hp thing or permanent everything after a hour? Stacking on true polymorph.

Is there any way to play a character both decent with a Longbow and Greatsword? I'd really like to play Grugach Elf who uses both but mechanically seems meh. Considering I'll have to specialise in one, should I go Bow or Greatsword?

What's the point of war magic for the EK if you have access to green flame blade and booming blade?

>>Unearthed Arcana: elf elf options
>media.wizards.com/2017/dnd/downloads/UA-ElfSubraces.pdf

One of the most useless and boring UAs ever.

How many character backstories have you made with the new "This is your Life" Section in XGtE?

Whats your favorite? Do you have anything you wished was added to this section of the book? Do you think something does not have enough options or has too many?

...Because you can cast GFB or BB, make an attack with it and then use your bonus action to make a normal attack?

You basically get to use GFB or BB as one of your extra attacks, it's really fucking good. Falls of toward level 11 though.

Sweetness, does this also stack with action surge?

Kinda, not really in a good way though. With action surge at level 7 you could do one of three things with an EK.

>4 normal attacks
>1 GFB/BB/other cantrip, 2 attacks with your other action and then a bonus action attack
>2 GFB/BB/other cantrip and then a bonus action attack

Most of the time option 2 is the best.

Better come up with new stuff fast man. I suggest looking at the new XGE encounters as a start.

Does your campaign have an overall story arc or end? What are all these events leading up to?

Very, very nice. Thanks heaps, bro!

And EKs are considered subpar gishes for what reason?

Paladins do their job better. Being limited to Evocation and Abjuration with no equivalent to Smite spells is pretty weaksauce for EKs. Not to mention Paladins have a bunch of cool magic auras as class features and their casting stat helps all their saves.

Then again, every gish in the game that's not a Paladin is inferior to Paladins in the gish role.

Because your average Gishfags demands it also has:
1. Full caster progression
2. Better spell selection
3. At will teleport (No, EKs ability is not good enough)
4. Ability to permanently fuck over any 1 enemy in the fight, making it useless for the entire combat, with no save

They want some broken shit class from 3.5, or a class from 4e, which is such a different system both mechanically and balance wise, that it will never work. They refuse to listen, and so keeps complaining about a "lack of a proper gish".

Thankfully WotC hates them as well, hence the lack of a stone sorcerer.

Hexblade is a far better Gish, balance wise, anyway (MCing aside).

>hence the lack of a stone sorcerer.
I fucking hate Gishes, and I wish they had included Stone Sorcerer in XGE, but just nerfed the everloving shit out of it. It would stop faggots from pleading "m.. muh UA" after WotC clearly gave it the axe.

Could someone please shop a PHB in this gif?

Me too.
>No alternate AC calculation
>Remove all smite spells
>And slightly "tweak" all other features to be worse in general
I would have loved to see that make it into XGE.

Yeah Grimsby but
Made of ice

You could go Kensei Monk for Longbow and versatile Longsword. That's as close as it gets.

>it's the "Party uses spells and grapples to rape a fellow PC" episode again
Why the fuck does this always happen on roll20?

It doesn't even matter what gender it is, someone will invariable decide to paint another PC as "basically looking female" before rape ensues.

Jesus fuck, I need to find games in real life.

True polymorph.

Maybe next time we'll get a player supplement focusing more on martials.

I hope you called them pathetic virgins before you left.

The ferryman who ferries souls to the afterlife is bored, how would you entertain him enough to let him grant passage to those who still live?

I don't even care who it focuses on. I like Martials and casters equally well, and as a group, we supplement the game with items and situations where casters will never insanely outperform martials.

The problem is that Gishfaggots want their Mary Sue snowflake, who is just as good as a Fighter in close combat, and just as good aa the wizard at casting spells, with the added ***flavour*** of at-will teleport and the ability to no-save shut down any boss. Not even the shithole that is Dandwiki has anything this fucking broken.

...

>B... But it was possible in 4e and 3.5!

Has anyone used the FFXIV conversions for 5e? Are they any good?

>Mobile cancels out the speed drop from wearing Plate with low strength

I think I found a 5e hack

Please respond.

Is Gloom Stalker really cool or is that just me? Name aside they have an awesome burst damage ability for the first round and being invisible in Darkness most of the time seems handy.

Only thing I hate is their lame high level abilities compared to Hunter's Whirlwind Attack or Horizon Walker's Teleport.

"Man, would it be fucked up is someone drilled a hole in this boat or what?"

It's very real HP, you drop to 0, things are looking bad.

>He didn't know this
This is literally how most people circumvented it with shit like wizards for a long time after SCAG hit. Just bladecantrip them with booming blade, and run away with your Str8 heavy armour faggot.

*if

They seem like the type who would have an autistic fit without reading the book.

Gloom stalker just seems really cool all round, it has amazing flavor and terrifying abilities.

I mean Stalker's Flurry is pretty big. There's plenty of rounds where you're going to miss at least one attack so chances are it'll be nearly as good as a third extra attack a lot of the time.

Good to known. I will dispell myself when the time comes. Revealing a wizard with all spell slot fresh underneath.

You don't have spellcasting while true polymorphed, so I'm interested in your solution.

What 5e domain for a cleric of Shaundakul? Nature, knowledge, forge, trickery?

Okay, guys, help me out.
I've made a dungeon, an ancient, lost, undead-infested temple that hasn't been robbed for the last few thousand years for some reason.
Yet NOW I want the party to invade and clear it. What are some reasons for it, beyond "There is treasure inside"? I want to give the party at least a couple reasons to enter every dungeon, to make sure they'll never miss it.

On a Paladin/Hexblade should i go for 13 or 15 str?

What's the party composition? Level? What's your world like? An elevator pitch for the temple would be ideal.

They're contracted by archaeologists who want to put stuff in a museum.
They're contracted by evil potential megalomaniacs who want to use the potential artifacts within to rule the world.
A supernatural call from within is calling for help, is it genuine, or is it a ruse?
All of the above.

As long as my form is capable of casting I can do it. I true polymorphed into myself as I am of equal level. Dispelling it reveal me with full hp before the polymorph and all my "unused" spell slot.

The party could go after mooks who're using the upper levels as their base but never bothered to explore deeper and the undead don't care.

I don't think you're intended to true poly into something with a character sheet.
Technically your character sheet doesn't have a listed challenge rating, either.

How do you get through combat that quickly?

>Group might run OotA
>Gloom stalker stood out as a fun class
I am conflicted. I don't want to powergamer this shit but man I like the flavor and abilities.

I'd go for it, not really powergaming, just picking a class appropriate for the game. Like if someone says you'll be running a game based around swashbuckling and politics no one will get angry if you play a swashbuckler.

Wouldn't a satisfactory gish just be an INT half arcane caster mirror of the paladin? Take away the healing and add a bit of evocation. Maybe replace the smite with something less damaging but with a choice of elements. Ez

I plan on the party entering it on levels 5-6.
The temple is dedicated to a long-dead god, whose followers were using it as a base of operations for conquering and converting the region. Upon the news that their god died, they all commited a ritual suicide to serve him in the afterlife. Upon dying, however, they have learned that he is not actually dead - only defeated.
So they were raised as revenants and stayed at the temple, waiting for their god to return. A couple of thousands years he did return... And immediately died, this time for real. This time, however, they did not believe it - so they stayed at the temple, forever waiting for their patron to return again.

The temple is incredibly hard to find, is thought to be a fairy tale, and it's defenders can come back to life infinitely (unless a certain condition is met) and don't ever leave the dungeon's premises, so this makes for reasons why it's not robbed yet.
It does make, however, it very difficult to come up with a reason to clear it, outside of "Their treasury has a magic item we need, let's go".

What's wrong with a regular bladelock? I fucking hate Hexblade. What's the point of being a gish if you're a SAD fuck anyway?

Love the full generation. Two of my players (group of 4) went for it, so now we have:

>Kenku kid, born in a palace to servants, low class
>Falsely accused of kidnapping a courtiers daughter
>Runs away, gets adopted by a rogue on the streets
>Needs to steal shit for him, one mission involves him being tasked with stealing a magical shield from an arcanists vault
>In the Vault the character stumbles into a portal to the Shadowfell due to being a clutz
>Is abducted by a Dragon there
>Saved by some Shadowfell monks
>Trained in their monastery to become a Shadow path monk

>Eberron Drow middle class weaver, son of weavers
>Falls in love at young age
>His love dies of jungle fever sadly
>He proceeds to become a good artisan in his own right
>UNTIL THE DAY HE GOT STRUCK BY LIGHTNING
>THUNDER AWAKENED HIS SPIRIT
>AN ELEMENTAL IS NOW LIVING INSIDE HIM
>THUNDER AND LIGHTNING!
>BECOMES A RAGING WARRIOR
>FIGHTS IN A WAR
>BEST FRIEND IS NOW A HALF-ORC GLADIATOR
>THUNDER! THUNDER! THUNDER!

Xanathar is fucking great.
