Describe the last time you put it on the line and went all out.

get a large smuggling compartment in your cybertorso in case you need to allahu

So how do children with magical talent awaken? is it just a sudden 'oh shit I can throw fireballs now' thing or is there some sort of trigger like a stressful or traumatic event that forces them to fly or die?

In most cases, puberty is the trigger.

>be twelve
> almost fireball your dick off when you loose a fireball
> never masturbate again and become extremely pent up and repressed

What if I wanted to play in the SR-verse but don't want to deal with the clusterfuck that is the system?

We should add them to the pastebin

So how old can elves get?

Can it happen in little girls?

Do you believe in magic?

It can, but it is rare even amongst the 1% of magic-users. There are even a few extremely rare cases of metahumans being Awakened from birth.

Suck it up or leave.

Yeah but it's rare. but it can also happen to people after puberty, so you could play an soon to retire office drone who recently realised that he can shoot icecycels.

"No Margarethe, i'm one of those shadowwalker kids know... yes Maggy, i will be home for dinner, love you :"

>"No Maggy I cant stop and get some soy-milk we're busy bringing down the corporations"

Yes dear, it's perfectly normal to own a gun, all my friends own guns, why don't you?
Here, i'll give you mine, I need to buy a new one anyway

IN A YOUNG GIRL'S HEART

"Several hundred" is the official line, so around 1000 with good medical care. Times that by 20 if they are a Drake. Infinite if they are an Immortal Elf.

I saw this in the last thread, but it archived before I could ask: what is a Deep Run?

As worldwide mana levels increase a larger and larger proportion of the population become Awakened, and Awakening can trigger at any age as long as the mana reaches a high enough level for their particular genetics.
The Atlantean Foundation suspects that eventually EVERYONE will have magical power of some kind. They're actually correct, as long as CGL doesn't throw Earthdawn lore out of the window.

A run where everyone follows the Decker (or Technomancer) in the wild, unexplored depths of the Matrix.

The back end of Matrix Hosts is a normally-inaccessible Foundation that's essentially its own UV host. Deep Runs allow you to hack directly into this Foundation and extract data from archives that you would otherwise have no access to or alter the parent Host in some particular way.

In practical terms, they're Inception.

And if nothing goes Horribly wrong in the meantime...

Ha.

I've always thought it interesting that you can never start out throwing fireballs. You don't know any spells until you learn them, which means you can be Awakened but not know it (part of why people screen schoolkids, to find those with latent talent and start exploiting them).

Wait, don't awakened often have weird things that tip them off to their nature? Seeing things other people don't, or unintentional acts of minor magic happen around them.

Imagen how people can freak out with their new and unstable power when suddenly firebringer is talking to them, or worse, someone like shark.

Imagine being in the 5th world where those voices in your head are actually your totem attempting to speak with you.

>shark talking to you
>bad

How about no?

Hey, rules question: what's the max you can raise an attribute with cyberware in 5e? I'm remembering 1.5x natural limit, but I can't find that anywhere in the book.

+4 is the augmented maximum no matter how you go about it; cyber, bio, magic, whatever.

Except when explicitely stated otherwise (which, as of now, is only the case with wireless-active Wired Reflexes + Reaction Enhancers which could theoretically allow you to go up to +6 REA).

Why did old SR books have such superior art?

Do you think your licensed shrink is testing people if they awakend before they start diagnosing schizophrenia ?

I don't think it's right to let a girl in that age undertake metatype reduction.

Because artists got paid.

>Do you think your licensed shrink is testing people if they awakend before they start diagnosing schizophrenia ?
If the patient has never been screened for magical potential and the experience is consistent with a known tradition, it couldn't hurt to have a magician look at them for five seconds to tell if they're magical. Assensing can turn up all kinds of stuff.

On the one hand, it could help enrich the shrink's awakened friend (and add to the shrink's fees). On the other hand, it's a cyberpunk dystopia so he might shunt the patient into an institution just for a payoff from the prison industry.

So, say I'm Human Joe Wageslave with a 3 Agi and max of 6. Does that mean (ignoring essence) I could get replacement muscles to 7 Agi, or until 10 Agi?

7

Agumentation has two limits. You can't have more than +4 in bonuses total. You also can't go more than 4 over your unaugmented maximum.

+4 total per attribute, yes?

Yes. Each attribute can be augmented 4 points higher than it's meat-level.

Thank (You) guys!

Yekka, that attribute problem is purely a display thing, not an actual expenditure problem. If you save, close, and then re-open, it displays correctly.

I THINK it's somehow attached to being a Vampire/other infected, but I don't really know coding shit at all.

Have any of you operated in/visited Lagos in a session/campaign? I just finished its feral cities entry. I'd rather take my chances in Chicago or Redmond if I were transported into the world of Shadowrun and given the option of one of the three as an insertion point.

>You also can't go more than 4 over your unaugmented maximum.

Actually thats nowhere written in 5e and something that People seem to carry over from 4e.
So you could actually go to REA 12 as a human bean. with 3 WR and 3 RE wireless.

Someone made an 18 REA street sam using 5e rules and standard equipment in an unofficial fluff/gear sourcebook.

Sounds like a fun thing to abuse ripose/counterstrike with, since you are throwing REA instead of AGI for that.

whait what? so i can be as agile as an troll in the porcelain shop and still stab people to death ?

Would there be a use for a wagemage in the financial sector?

I don't think there's a tradition for Judaism.

on site chi flow/dragon line/fung shui specialist to keep the office in harmony

Divination is a thing. It may not be perfect, but people will try literally anything to see if it makes them filthy rich.

Sorta, Riposte/Counterstrike will cost you 7 INI per use, but yes, it theoretically allows you to ultrastab people with very low AGI.
Going with the build above (3 Levels of WR and RA, former Alpha, latter used, Bioware Compatibility Quality and restricted gear for l3 WR), you could go for 12 REA, 6 in you meele skill of choice, +2 from specialisation and +1 from SYNCH genewar (when you use the Riposte, the enemie will already have attacked you).
21 Dice for a combined Attack+ Evasion maneuver seems quite nice.

Should I build my adept to use dual semi-autos or dual machine-pistols?

No Point in dual-wielding machine-pistols.
Akimbo Semi-Auto at least gives you more ammo before you have to reload.
Dual-wielding except for melee+ranged is pretty shit in SR du dum kof

I know Dual-Wielding isn't exactly the best but it has flavor. I've built my dude around Gun-Kata, just doing some finishing touches now.

It's best used with flechette, since they reduce the defense pool, also with another teammatelaying down godlike suppresive fire with 15 dice or more.

>wagemage in the financial sector

-Analyze Truth or Compel Truth when receiving stock tips or dealing with complaints.
-Crank for all-nighters, if you can't get away with just giving them Long Haul.
-Alleviate Addiction + Detox, to quickly get an overdosed wageslave back to work. Rapid sobering-up can also save the holiday party from Carol's attempts at singing.
-Increase Ability (Logic, Intuition, Charisma). If you can nail four hits, then people would pay big to have that sustained on them through the working day.

Flechette only reduces defense by 1 in non-choke weapons. If you want this, go full shotgun with burst mode.

Mystic adept would be better. There's powers that can raise your knowledge skills, like Economics.
I made an investment banker as my Friend in High Places, had almost 30 points in economics with standard chargen. Money out the ass.

Mystic Adepts are pretty much always better, but they're even more rare than other kinds of magicians.

>using economics skill to make money
>in game about violent crime
NPC / 10, wouldn't even have him make a cameo

He was literally a contact, his whole point is that the PC can make use of him.

>Rich high-powered banker
>In a game about criminals working for powerful people to fuck with other powerful people
>'That's dumb'
Can't into Shadowrun/10

Why are elves so unfair?

When you put it like that, a game of social combat, white collar crime, and intrigue sounds like fun. I want to bankroll a pet runner team.

Oh, you mean the *banker* had 30 dice in economics and money out the ass. I had read it as the runner himself having the economics dice and making money. My bad.

Not the guy who posted it, I could just read:
>I made an investment banker as my Friend in High Places

Got it in one.
I never hit the NPC up for free money (because that would unbalance the game), I instead used the NPC's money to help with runs. Outbidding toffs at auctions, crashing ritzy parties and belittling the other guests with his bank account, intimidating Lone Star (my mate could buy and sell your sorry ass), unbalancing local market prices, etc.
Loyalty 6 is great, especially when your contact is a member of the idle rich and will do anything to relieve the monotony of his pampered existence.

There's plenty of ways to become immortal in Shadowrun, and they don't involve becoming a dragon's failed offspring.

>player's history for meeting their fixer is that they're actually trying to help their drug addicted wannabe fixer out by running for them
This is cute

What methods are available for non-awakened? Leonisation doesn't work indefinitely, does it?

What are some examples of bullpup firearms in Shadowrun?

I'm really tempted to give my ghoul gangleader NPC a full facemask with no eyeholes. Is this too edgy?

No, it slowly chips away at your Essence. Roxborough might have figured it out, but he's a brain in a jar. If people work out voluntary e-ghosting, that's a possibility (and leads directly into Eclipse Phase).

Not at all. Anyone who saw it would probably think, "guy with electronic sensors giving him data about the environment." Using meat-eyes is overrated.

Ares Alpha
Ares HVAR
HK XM30
Nissan Optimum
Any bullpup rifle in real life

>If people work out voluntary e-ghosting, that's a possibility (and leads directly into Eclipse Phase).
I'm okay with this.

I was thinking something more like a char clone (one of my players fucking LOVES him some gundam) but daft punk style mask sounds cool too.

>Eclipse Phase

>Humanity stood on the cusp of a new age, with accelerated technological growth converging toward a singularity point, promising an undreamt-of future. Despite the ecopocalypse and social upheavals on Earth, humanity had conquered the solar system and partially terraformed Mars. Advancements in biotechnology, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and cognitive science transformed our lives. Everyone was wirelessly networked with the world around them, AIs processed vast amounts of information, and nano-fabrication enables people to print complex devices on the molecular level at home. Biotechnology allowed people to genefix, enhance, and clone their bodies, while others pursued body modifications to adapt to new environments or make themselves into something no longer quite human. People's minds and memories could be digitized, uploaded, transferred over long distances, and downloaded into new bodies (biological or synthetic). Death had been defeated... for those who can afford it.

What's the setting of your current/most recent game

Toronto, which has become the new Hollywood and Silicon Valley of the UCAS. Ask me about it, if you want.

There are three types on Leonization, A, B, and C.
Leonization A is from the research stolen from Shiawase by Ares. They managed to rush it market and create the first rejuvenation treatment, however it absolutely shreds your essence (we're talking minus 5 essence or more).
Shiawase brought their original research to market several months later. This is the method given in Chrome Flesh, it rejuvenates you and only deals 1 point of essence damage.
The third type of rejuvenation, Leonization C, causes NO ESSENCE DAMAGE AT ALL. Naturally a load of CEO and other rich bastards ran out to get it, because it's an extremely costly process that only they can afford. Trouble is a couple years after it hit the market it was discovered that Leonization C causes massive psychological issues. It sends those who use it insane.
So yeah, there is a way for mundanes to live forever, but unless they keep buying off those mental issues with karma they're going to go completely batshit insane.

Qabbalism is in Street Grimoire.

Well your mind breaking is another form of death isn't it?

So the answer is as of current technology, mundies are fucked unless they're elves.

Dual wield Remington Roomsweeper

Elves don't live forever. The only metahumans that are immortal are Immortal Elves, which are a different breed from standard keebs. I don't know if all of them are Awakened (the ones from the 4th World are, because everyone is an adept); it's possible there are some born in the 2000's that are mundane.

Jane Foster and Sheila Blatavska are 6th world immortal elves.

Aren't there conspiracy theories about immortal human members of the lodge?

Practitioners of magic from previous worlds are mentioned and essentially confirmed by their sourcebook descriptions.

They're enemies of the great dragons and immortal elves, so they're playing in that league.

What would be the most up to date source book to get info on the lodge?

Pretty sure that's an Oni.

If you have a way of generate karma Leonisation C is still a good idea. That might explain why Damian Knight isn't monstrously insane, the guy lives life to the max and generates karma. Otherwise he would be bonkers, because the lore states that he likes to undergo Leonization every decade at latest, often sooner.

And yes, karma is an in-lore phenomena, not simply a gameplay mechanic.

Shadows of Europe and Conspiracy Theories. Seriously, CGL has barely touched them. Maybe we should be thankful for that.

>fuckin Doom is screaming in your head every night about destruction and genocide
New character idea. I'm taking insomnia for it.

May i wake your interest for the apprentice ?
Not a power creep but still definitly something you can build a character around and do magic stuff.

Is aspected magician worth it if I just want to sling spells?

>Is aspected magician worth it

No!

I think some of the best stuff coming out is the apprentice, since it's not terrible broken, easy on new players and has the need to specalize like any other mundane runner.
And the cyberspine, not because it does anything new but rather because it shows how the same idea can be a great concept once you put good fluff and a minor rule addition (upgrades) on it.
Unlike CGLs 24/7 adverisment streaming office drone cyber packages.

apprentice is technically an aspected mage, just doesn't suck, can cast one group of spell and summon one type of spirit, but that makes them also easy peasy to specalise.

Your imaginary friend is actually a spirit

>how do children with magical talent awaken?

Like all the SR lore relating to magic, the answer is "however you want it to, it's different for everyone"

Here's a secret jackpointers don't want you to know: Everyone's immortal if they don't die. In shadowrun.

so what tech from today (dvds, books, and stuff) still exists in the world of 2079?

killed a bunch of hellcows in tir na nog today lads
