I'm personally not a fan of any deathwatch bolt weapons without the additional charge packs on the sides.

Though I'm not sure how you'd get more "deathwatch" bolt pistols, aside from casting the ones on the librarian and chaplain from overkill.

Let's compare

10 shots with Str5, 4+ BS vs 10 shots with S4, 3+ BS

Against a T4 Target:

S5 BS 4+: 5 hits, 3.33 wounds

S4 BS 3+: 6.66 hits, 3.33 wounds

Changes at 8/9 as well (Where Str 5 isn't dealing with 2x Strength and Str 4 is)

to be honest though at that point you're shooting the wrong target

Yeah but still different and hey, sometimes you don't have a good target in range.

How is it acceptable for S6 to be so worthless? There are not enough T5 units for it to be worth taking over S5 weapons with more shots or S7 weapons with less, and T3 units are not nearly as common as T4 and are more easily killed by massed S4 fire, which is simple to come by.

Looks like a nice start. At this stage, you're best off just using whichever paint scheme you think is coolest.

I love the simple bronze the Minotaurs have, but Ultras seem to have the most broken skillset

Ditch the forgefiend and get a predator or helbrute. Forgefiends are trash. And I guess it's not really an issue of being fluffy or not when you've just checked nearly every box on the 1ksons very limited army list. You'll struggle against more vehicle heavy lists with only 2 exalted flamers, a hellfyre missle rack, and BS4 forgefiend with the suicide plasma gun to deal with them, but that's a problem in general for thousand sons. If you're looking to shave off some points, I doubt 10 melee Tzaangors will be all that effective in such small numbers. Either figure out a way to get that number to 20-30 or swap them with Cultists for a cheaper third troop. An instrument is also mandatory for Tzaangors, as it's free anyways. A Demon Prince would also really make things nice for you for the added melee support and reroll 1's to hit. As is, you only have Ahriman who will likely need to baby sit the Forgefiend with prescience to make it at all effective. You could also consider more horrors for objective camping.

Take the above for what you will.

Playing an army you like is much more important than playing an army that's powerful.

Choose one of their successors then. Black Templars are pretty sweet and fit the general Angry Marine mold if you're into melee.

Depends on your opponent. Since that would double their number of attacks, for now cost, I doubt many would be cool with it.

called proxying and alot of people i know dont care for example i run beserkers and the models have half chainswords and chainaxes and i proxy them all as chainaxes

I find that bolters are more effective than chainswords on large Crusader squads - they do most of their work before you reach the target. Unless you're running them out of a Land Raider Crusader.

Best way to build lots of Chainsword marines is the Assault Squad kit - it comers with normal backpacks, not just jump packs

If you have extra combat knives those do the same thing as chainswords. You could even use them as a bayonet for easy modeling

Melee is pretty good this edition, for many armies it's better than shooting. Deldar is not one of these armies.

Yea. It's a shame. A lot of units that were bad last edition became better in 8th, but wyches are just bad all the time apparently. Meanwhile, Reavers are overcosted and largely ineffective, and hellions are also kind of meh for their points even if D2 is nice.

So the Chaplain would deep strike with the terminators, shoot some niggas. The Emperors champion, Lieutenant, Apothecary and Crusader blob run hard at a squad to chop up. Backline fire support stuff does backline fire support things.

You might get more use with an Ancient than an apothecary.

Orks can still melee, though. Even shoota boys get a ton of attacks and can still shoot within 12". Orks will beat a Wych cult every time, especially since we don't have the -1 to hit without a Codex besides the venom, which isn't even that great because splinter weapons suck ass against 90% of the game.
