Strictly speaking, the weirdest that I did was a near-immortal robot in Eclipse Phase that got betrayed by his team by another PC(On accident, we didn't know we were working for the same people, and he was infected with a TITAN virus), died from having a good 20lbs of C4 thrown at him, got reuploaded, and then successfully sued the company that killed him for blue-on-blue and got a new body and a large enough settlement to acquire a number of upgrades. And picked up a complex where he became obsessed with never dying again, because thanks to over-preparedness, he could feel and remember every second until he fully died, thanks to an advanced Farcaster that uploaded his mind to the transfer place.

For Shadowrun, I've just got a Vampire PhysAd Sniper I'm working with right now.

So i heard EP got a second edition, is it an improvement ?

Absolutely no idea on a personal level, I haven't checked it out at all.

On a non-personal level, I've heard that it split Moxie into multiple situational-use pseudo-Edge stats, that it made two major factions NPC only because of political issues(Because in the setting where there's a sentient spacestation made of meat that wants you to eat it, a morph made explicitly to take EVERY DRUG and then still be able to sexually function, CANONICAL loli sexbots, and a world where EVERYTHING is legal, anything remotely resembling rightwing opinions needs to be NPC Only), and that it's generally managed to do such a bad job that most players abandoned it.

Where are the rules [in 5e or elsewhere] for using a shotgun to breach a lock? I've been looking all week and haven't found out how to resolve attempts to blast doors and containers open in this manner.

Stats for specialized breaching rounds would help too, if any exist. Wikipedia says that breaching rounds are frangible to minimize risk to people on either side of the door. However, in SR frangible rounds face double armor against barriers, so I'm wondering what to do about that.

Would it make sense to treat a breaching attempt as "explosive in contact with barrier" (x2 DV), or as a penetrating weapon so it simply deals its damage and automatically breaks the lock? Should I treat a door's bolt or hinge as having a different structure/armor or thickness from the door itself? Should I just stop overthinking things and rule that shotgun-blasts used this way automatically render most doors unlocked?

One of my fellow players was gonna make a pixie rigger that used a drone like a mech suit. The dm and I are the ones who know the system the most, but neither of us read up on drones yet. She ended up not being able to show up consistently, so never saw it in action.
Sort of glad i didn't have to crash course everything about rigging to help, but that character would have solidified my position as the most normal character in this weird group.

Different materials have different stats. I think this is filed under the last sentence you put. That is unless you want to figure out how much of the shot penetrates through the air/metal lock/ metal door frame/ wooden door. Its not impossible to do, like you said with barriers, but from a DM standpoint screw that. Maybe just keep it at cheaper made lock = less damage needed.

Sr 4e had ShockLock rounds or something

Making a decker and not sure what I should prepare myself for when it comes to combat. I'm guessing I should be aiming for something with the biggest bang for the least amount of investment? What would that be? Pistols?

I like to give my players scenes when they purchase really outlandish items. For my street sam, he was looking for some heavy duty gear, so our fixer gives him the location of a very powerful smuggler.

It turns out, he's an obese naga that is rolled around by a really bored assistant to manage his crime syndicate. It's too bad the game fell apart shortly after that.

Get yourself a Arm of God and a Steyr TMP and then Spray-and-Pray

Pistols works if you're getting a 'Hand of God' which can fire pretty well.

If you don't have a hand of god, automatics are the obvious overpowered choice, covering semi-concealed machine pistols and powerful rifles, and allowing easy burst fire to compensate for your mediocre-to-crappy shooting skills.

Longarms are also a good choice. If you get a shotgun: A low limit goes well with low skill, they hit pretty hard, and you can use choke settings to cut down peoples' defense or attack multiple gangers at once.

So it's shadowrun all over again ?

Is that in the core book?

"Arm of God" or "Hand of God" is internet slang among shadowrun-players for a single cyberarm with agility (and possibly strength) much higher than its owner. They usually have agility 9, armor 3, and strength 6-9. That allows a character to make one-handed attacks which are highly effective. They are a common way for deckers to pull their weight in battle. Characters with cash and essence to spare can get two if they really want to use two-handed weapons.

It's typically a used obvious full cyberarm, agility customization, agility enhancement (3), strength customization, armor (3), and can be tricked it out with other stuff as your heart and wallet desire. A decker may decide to store his cyberdeck in a smuggling compartment in the arm, but this is optional.

Arm of God is a Cyberarm with AGI enhanced up to maximum with AGI Enhancement and Customization. Since you only use the stats of the limb you use you can now shoot one handed weapons with 9 AGI (or respective maximum).
Steyr TMP is a cheap machine pistol that can do Full Auto, costs 350n¥, has a magazine size of 30 bullets and does 7P damage
So if you fire it you roll 9+1+(Automatics skill), which can give you 12 dice with ease.
Then you use Suppressive fire (you roll your Automatics pool, note the hits, declare a space in which you fire and force everyone in that space to either keep their head down or make a REA+EDG(your hits) test or take 7P damage) or just attack them

Does anybody have a copy of Shadow Spells they would be willing to share?

i own that razor on the right

Nevermind, I found one. Here it is for anyone interested.

chummer, have you checked the OP Pastebin?
At all?

That text in the OP isn't just for show. There's a link to a whole trove for shadowrun books and resources for all editions.

fuck me sideways, i have brain damage apparently

I have a similar one.

Delete the PDF before it becomes an issue, mate. Only share open source stuff directly.

>i have brain damage apparently
It's okay bro. It took me a while to notice those links and learn how to access them properly.

Do any of you have suggestions for which supplements (if any) to use in a game full of players new to 5e and shadow run in general?

SR 2e and related supplements

What sets 2e apart from the rest ?

2e and 3e were made by people who gave a shit about the setting without being the mechanical clusterfuck that 1 /4 / 5e are.
Granted it's Shadowrun so it's still a clusterfuck, and 2e and 3e both have strengths and weaknesses but they're better then the rest by far.

eh, not the original user but i'll take a look too since 5e is giving me a headache from time to time.

Just take any drone and slap a rigger cocoon in it, done deal.

If you want a lore crash course, use 20th Anniversary and/or Sixth World Almanac.

For 5e itself, standard splats will be Run & Gun (gear), Run Faster (qualities), Street Grimoire (magic), Data Trails (decking), Chrome Flesh (augmentation), and Rigger 5 (rigging). The gear and crunch bloat is very real, however, so you might want to limit it to Run & Gun plus qualities from the various books.

Thanks for the advice, here's your reward you probably need it

Are you by any chance defending CGL?

Thank you. I'll look into these.

looking into it, the art is alot better than 5e, it's not like i need a poorly choosen color palette.

>3e
>not a mechanical clusterfuck

Wanna know how I know you're wrong?

uh uh uh, i know the answer
ever tried to drive through a wall?

Just because what we have now is shit, doesn't mean past editions become retroactively not shit.
Hell one of the reasons I get so mad a CGL is that the core of 5e is solid, it quite easily have been very good if CGL had actually out some fucking effort in or bothered to playtest or edit anything. As opposed to 2e/3e where the core dice mechanics are just terrible to the point of being unfixable.

>without being the mechanical clusterfuck that 1 / 4 / 5e are
>Granted it's Shadowrun so it's still a clusterfuck
Reading is hard

Dude, in 5e we have a different rule sub-system and new rules for nearly every chapert.

All of them. If you're gonna jump into the deep end, then jump on in.

Yeah, have the awakened summon the spirit of a B12 and do all the lifting.

Regardless of what edition you use, there are problems with it. Best thing you can do is have a look through the books, see which one you like the best, and play that one.

My group settled on 4e simply because we were all game newbies (me and the GM at least knew a load of the lore), and priority-gen made his head hurt. That's it.

Since then we've acquired Chummer, and a couple of second-hand 4e books, and we're enjoying ourselves. If he'd figured out Prioritygen, or I'd found Chummer quicker, we'd probably be playing 5e.

TL;DR Read the rules, find a set of rules you like, and play them. Fuck other peoples opinions.

So how would you go about building an Overlord?
I'm thinking a Mystic Adept that specs into conjuring, but none of my builds in Chummer seem particularly satisfying.

Maybe a hermetic elementalist? Lots of dumb elementals could work, but I just don't have much experiences with spirits.

>couple of second-hand 4e books

If you want to go a Conjurer go full mage. Mystic Adepts are primarily best when your going for support magics and spells.
My recommendation. Go full mage get lots of summoning and binding. Then spend all your points in metamagics.
Go Invoking so you can make extra beefy spirits (seriously invoked earth spirits have a power that can literally level a city block.)
Ally Conjuration, just fuck Ally spirits are super good.
And if you want to go get Channeling, Cause nothing says "This isn't even my final form" than you allowing your bound spirit to possess you and having all its powers and force BUFFING YOUR STATS.

>seriously invoked earth spirits have a power that can literally level a city block.

what?

's called quake, it's in street grimoire irc. It's pretty crazy.

So an inoked force 6 spirit can throw an entire sprawl block into chaos,
CGL

QUAKE
Type: P Action: Complex
Range: Special Duration: Instant
The spirit can create earthquakes with potential-
ly devastating effects. The quake affects an area with
a radius of (Force) kilometers, and the shaking persists
intermittently for (Force) minutes. Areas especially vul-
nerable to earthquakes are usually not areas that receive
them frequently, as people in vulnerable areas tend to
build dwellings with earthquakes in mind. The spirit
makes a Magic + Willpower Test and the number of hits
represents the magnitude of the quake, as noted on the
Quake Table.

pic related.
So if you have a F5 Invoked Great Form Earth Spirit the spirit rolls MAG+WIL (both equal to force) so 10 dice in this case, gets 3 hits on average and thus causes minor damage and car crashes in a 5 km radius
If instead you pumped a higher force spirit (say F7) it now rolls 14 dice, gets 5 hits on average and has long lasting effects in a 7 km radius
and these are just the averages. if your Spirit has at least F4 he could roll 8 hits and devastate the entire area

Come on, step it up mundies!

Okay a less munchkin-y answer.
Summoner aspected mage will get the job done, i would suggest a possesion tradition like egyptian, psionic, voodoo or that weird hebrew one whichs name i forgot, or make on with your GM.

Then you can either create host bodys for your spirits to posses.
clay dolls
Wood dolls
corpse dolls
Plasteel constructs
Will all do the job, but just to consider, add some form of blade to the body so it might count as natural weapon as far as your GM is concerned.
Or go voodoo and give your new golem friend an AK 47.

I made a Sharkman but I never got to play him.

It's a completely horrible build and it's so shitty but I love the idea.

As a GM I've made nartaki nagas, SURGED cyber-werewolves. I don't want to send em at my players yet or it might just kill them.

I would think that it would be easier and better as an normal biosamurai.
Bigger jaw, horn removal and sharskin are already things and are probably considered fashion statements.

Quality (Sharkman) Poser

distinctive style (SHARK!)

Must have cyberpsychosis, after all he combines the best of troll and shark.

Phobia (Nets).

Natural Immunity(Cancer)

Why didn't you make him a changeling?

>not female

Oh derp you did
Best character then

Why not both?

Good point...
Had Your shark been a female she would have been twice the size and twice as aggressive.
She also might have had that thing that Nurse Sharks have, where there unborn children cannibalize each other in the womb.

The #1 feature of playing a Sharkman would've been the reason to draw Sharkman porn.

>shark
>>not female

Would not he/she/it be just a really commited furry ?

Remember folks, Spirits DO have Edge!

question is whether or not it'll use it

wait, why shouldn't I buy cgl books?

Embezzlement, unpaid editors, shit quality, bad practices, political alignments, and generally just shitty ideas.

The system is decent enough, but it's not worth paying for, and the sooner CGL dies the better for everyone.

CGL needs to be starved of cash and disappear, so that Shadowrun can find its way into more capable hands.

Rules question: during an opposed test, who wins when both participants have the same amount of hits?

For example, someone is sneaking up on someone else?

Ties go to the defender

Depends on the test
Initiative? REA, INT, EDG, Coin flip in that order
Attack tests? counts as a grazing hit (doesn't do damage but counts as touched for poisons, touch spells and special damage like electricity)
Otherwise either to the defender or (if there is no "defender") a coin flip

Yet another inconsistency, because certain effects are based on net hits, while other tests are "meet threshold" and so on

You are clearly stupid.

Oh we have those, plus a laptop and a couple of tablets in use at the table between us. Sometimes it's just nice to have a physical book. We're old and crotchety like that.

Alright, build question time, 4e style.

Attempting to make a physical blade adept that uses a spirit-slaying sword. How ould I go about making a sword that can touch and kill spirits without it being expensive or something various magical lodges would try to steal?

>unpaid editors
Can't pay someone who doesn't exist

Don't tell me they made Jovians NPC only.

Make it a weapon focus, that's it, you can use weapon foci in astral combat. If you're asking how do you hit something that's on the astral plane without going astral yourself, I think your only real option is become dual natured, and that's a function of you not the weapon.

Jovians AND Ultimates, user.

Nothing wrong with a little hair chummer.

>political alignments
?

Damn, I loved playing Jovians. Guess I'll just stick with 1e...

...the fuck? One of my favourite PCs was an Ultimate (If one considered a bit heretical by other Ultimates). That's really disappointing.

It was Ultimates.
Although saying that Ultimates are "NPC only" is a bit of an exaggeration; faction is literally just a collection of motivators in 2e, so its easy to make them playable. Hell, they'll probably come back, just in a supplement.
I agree with almost all of the writers political views and i still think the labelling of the Ultimates as "Fascist" is fuckin stupid. And even if they were fascist it wouldn't stop them from wanting to stop existential threats.

all you need is a weapon focus to bypass spirits hardened armor. unless its a crazy high force focus, its not going to be that expensive or so valuable that groups of powerful mages are going to come after you for it.

much of your damage will comes from critical strike and martial arts. strength scales poorly in 4e, so dont worry about getting it too high.

4e adepts usually benefit from grabbing a bit of augs to cover what adept powers are less efficient at (or geas cheese)

Dude. Their literally in the playtest. Jovians are still a player option.

At least we can still play Scum!

Well, they are one of the most relateable factions, also come with the premise that death kills you dead.

you do need one? Just wondering since you only need a non-mundane attack.

Nearly done with the weapon mount branch, just need to implement something for converting existing weapon mounts; I'm not particularly sure how to manage that though, since everything's loose mods.

RIGGERS OF /srg/: Would you be okay with having to remove and re-add your own weapon mounts?

That's fine

In 5e i meant.

Personal favorite is: Get stick, get stick possessed by spirit with elemental aura, now hit series with your new lightning stick you found on the side of the road.

Yes.

Please, god, help us with it. Make it better. It hurts.

reddit.com/r/Shadowrun/comments/7e4a3l/vehicle_and_drone_catalogue_mk_ii/

Neat.

Give this a try: a.safe.moe/Mcusc.zip
Note, currently only guaranteed to be working in create mode, I haven't tested career. Rightclick on the vehicle, click Add Weapon Mount.

Current TODOs are to implement the corebook weapon mounts, do dataentry for all the rigger 5 vehicles that have the new mount types, and have the Vehicle attributes update with the extra mounts, they're currently free and don't consume mod slots. i think I set the Minotaur to have one as a test.

SOmething is fucked with that folder.
