DO SOMETHING NOW

Tell me about your custom chapter/clan/craftworld/cult/dynasty/fleet/masque/order/regiment/sept/warband

>Letting your government impose archaic regulations on your companies
>Believing the astroturfing
>You have to go back

Our Chapter Approved updates got leaked, and it's garbage. The stratagem is okay-ish (9/10 I'd rather just use a command re-roll after if I really needed a particular power), but the WL trait, Relic, and spell are all shit.

>Have you ever played a TS player?
I have not.

Why are Acid Maws free for Genestealers

What's a good loadout for a standard Space Marine Assault Squad?

Is the Eviscerator still good?
Should I just go cheap and have five bolt pistol/chainsword marines?
Should I not put jump packs on them and run them as a 10 man squad assaulting out of a Rhino?

I haven't used Assault Marines in 8th yet and I'll be building two squads of them tonight.

Yeah, honestly. At the very least some interesting powers or fun rules is all I really want to satisfy me, don't even need much more to be happy.
Oh wait, haven't been paying too much attention to leaks and stuff. What all do we get?

Fuck off.

Aww, darn. It sounds like a matchup with a lot of potential for funstuffs.

What is everyone working on?

I just finished this captain, now I'm having a break before painting my Redemptor.

I remain unconcerned.

did anyone save the epub for Devastation of Baal and mind sharing it?

Power is WC7, 18" pick a unit, roll 9D6, MW for each six. Attached is the odds for various MW counts (note that WC7 means it either fails or does nothing the majority of the time).

WL trait is re-roll denies, relic is powers can't be denied on doubles, stratagem is 1CP for +2 to cast if within 6" of two other TS psykers.

It's in the last thread, just ctrl-f devastation

Don't worry about it, man. I'm going to fix it. Just shut the fuck up, OK?

Derp.

How many people are still starting non-primaris marine armies?

Looking great. Is that a smiley face on his shield? What chapter?

19th for th-
*out of synapse range*
SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>warriors
>ever out of synapse

What's the penalty again? You can only shoot or charge the closest enemy?

Anyone know a good place to get cheap Lasguns?

Those are Warriors, they have Synapse.

Yeah i fucked up.
Have a jeanstealer

It's now -1 to hit if you don't shoot at the closest enemy model iirc. Can't remember if they changed how it effects charging in the codex.

Fresh OC to mine some salt

What are you using them for? They are good killing squishy models like conscripts/poxwalkers and the like. Anything toughness 7 or less with no armour save is a good target - however, as soon as you throw an armour save on them, they become significantly worse at kill them, since they have no AP - ie, don't throw them against terminators or vehicles etc.

DESU, the fight phase is in a pretty shit place ATM. Fallback combined with how much shooting you face just getting into range to charge kind of kills the idea.

They would be ok if chain swords were S+1 AP-1 Dmg 1 +1 attack, but the static one plus attack means their basic attacks can't dent anything worthwhile.

-1 to hit and -2 charge range when targeting anything other than the closest unit.

>How many people are still starting non-primaris marine armies?

Nobody! Why would you? Manlet marines have been replaced, didn't you hear?

Is all seriousness, I am. I'm running all mk3 and 4 armour. But I think most are going the Primaris route until they work out that they are shit.

mars-one.com

-1 to hit or -2 to charge to a unit that isn't the closest one

It's pretty forgiving really

I only see the pdf copy, no epub

just neg one to hit when shooting an enemy thats not the closest

Yeah it's a smiley face. I haven't come up with a name for my chapter yet.

Working on the first of 3-4 highlight layers on my Hellions. Going through the skyboards right now.

That blending and battle damage is fucking delicious, user. I'm jealous.

that stratagem should be a rule for every ork infantry not just a stratagem

Huh. I mean, I guess the + to casting could be good for using a full exalted sorcerer box, things like that but outside of that eh. A bit unfortunate but at least it's something.
Any legion traits or something? Is the relic at least cool fluffwise or something or do we not know?

nevermind, I'm retarded. I didn't see you asked for the epub.

>Have a jeanstealer
No, I don't want it.

Grading exams. Really I should invest in a big red "F" stamp.

Those are looking awesome. The hair gives them great contrast. Post pics when you're done.

That's what all the hive worlds say~
at first~

>could be good for using a full exalted sorcerer box
"Good" and "using a full exalted sorcerer box" should never be in the same sentence.

As far as we know, no legion traits (on the whole Chapter Approved is looking like a massive disappointment when we compare it to everything that General's Handbook 2017 has). The relic is almost certainly just the Athanaean Scrolls, given that "can't deny on doubles" was what it did in 7th.

Ah, didn't mean actually "good", I should have worded that a bit differently. I guess convenient for the purchase or something would probably be more fitting for the line of thought I had.
Unfortunate about no legion traits yet, hopefully CA redeems itself in some different aspects. Thanks user.

I'm thinking as either a deep striking distraction unit to keep my opponent tied up for a turn while my Dreadnoughts stomp closer.

Either that or maybe going for going for midfield objectives, I'm not really sure.

>hopefully CA redeems itself in some different aspects.
Land Raider rules are Open Play only (read as "useless"), Guiliman is going up by like 30 points so it's clearly not going to fix any major balance issues, and the new missions already look like a complete shitshow (hey, what if we made a mission that rewards character-spam and heavily punishes melee armies!). At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow reveals that Grey Knights/Thousand Sons/Warlocks don't get any sort of work-around for the 3-Smite-per-turn cap for Matched Play.

It should just let you re-roll failed hit rolls

Ah well shoot. I guess all I can do is hope.

Hope for what? At this point the only things Chapter Approved might do for Thousand Sons is fuck us over even more (no Smite work-around, Magnus gets his cost jacked way up).

Swarmlord Deluxe

Tell me about your main army.
Do you play them because you love their lore/story or for their competitiveness?

Is there any way you could meld the tiny sword arms into the big ones like the Stone-Crusher, they look a bit puny now

So, is it better to run two 5 man tactical squads, or one 10 man squad?

What's the difference?

Aspect Warriors lore was the first bit of 40k that I really enjoyed.
I start thinking about competitiveness after I bring what I like and realize that I need certain compliments to make them effective/survive.
I still don't have a single jetbike or Wraithknight although I pack a few wraithblades in a wave serpent

Lets say you decide you don't want your army anymore and want to try something new out. Do you trade, or do you sell and buy? Where would you do it, Kijiji? Is there already an established community for something like this?

You trade the ability to take a heavy weapon for another special weapon and forcing your opponent to shoot two targets instead of one.

Which is better, idk, don't play Marines.

MSU is almost always better, since it gives more cp and make basically ignores morale. However if you have an idea for you squad to commit to, and need buff/stratagem/ other, then a big squad might work, but then it needs lots of support so it better work out in the end, no half-assing it.

I have a Genestealer Cult army and a Renegades & Heretics army. Sometimes I merge both forces into a huge force. I like them because they are sectors of 40k that I feel are overlooked for Space Marines - the common man turned to darkness, the ragtags and rebels fighting for a strip of decadence offered by these cults; away from a grueling Imperial machine. Besides that, both armies other great converting opportunities, my heretics army is all made up of converted cult guys with forge world renegade bits, head swaps, a huge mutant force made by the old school Eye of Terror method etc.

Out of the two armies I like Genestealer Cult more these days, mainly because I am beginning to find Chaos and their story arc dull and one big trope (plus, its been written into the ground). Something more appealing to playing the big baddies goons rather than their big dudes, and its always fun to ally your force with Chaos Marines / Tyranids to really show off the elite of the elites per say. Sometimes I'll field a small attachment of chaos marines (noise marines, lord, more cultists etc) for example, or all the big beasties you get from Tyranids.

I've played Nids for the last three editions.

I play them because I love what they look like and their whole cosmic locust thing.

I use the Dakkadakka Swapshop and Bartertown. I usually try to trade, since that can net you close to the MSRP of your stuff, especially if you aren't super picky.

Been playing Inquisition/Guard/Ministorum/Assassins since 2003 and still play them. I love the lore of Inquisitors and assassins. Love the aesthetic of the church melee units. Guard have always been fun since I love the idea of a rich Inquisitor having a private army.

two 5 man squads because the marines who know no fear are bitches to morale. Even worse than conscripts.

>double down on a heavy/spec weapon
>Extra combi weapon
>Fill Battalion tax better
>Easier to hide in cover
>Never a morale test

VS
>All 10 benefit at once from single target abilities (psychic power, stratagem, "choose 1 unit" etc.)
>More leeway to daisy chain auras
>One less drop for deployment
>One less kill point
>Bigger board presence
>Bigger threat to charge

See what your army needs.

What should (as EC) I stuff in a LR to make use of its points? It seems to be too scared of AT to get in close, yet anything long range will have penalties to hit from moving

thoughts and/or criticisms on this one? meant for semi-competitive play but not meant to be too ball-busting.
I feel like it's fairly well rounded but might suffer against proper horde armies
Vostroyans Regimental Doctrine
2 company commanders, 1 with kurovs aquila
1 primaris psyker

4 Infantry squads with heavy bolters
2 infantry squads with lascannons

2 platoon commanders
1 salamander command vehicle
1 tech priest enginseer
2 squads of shotty veterans with 3 meltas

3 lascannon scout sentinels

2 defense searchlights
2 Wyverns with heavy stubbers

Hellhammer with 4 heavy Bolter lascannon sponsons

3 Gryphonne Chimeras(Heavy bolters+storm bolter)

Land Raiders suck. You're better off just nabbing a Rhino and a Predator and having an extra hundred points to throw at something else.

I play Thousand Sons because I've always loved their lore and as a kid their original kit look amazing to me.

I've been planning on doing a Feudal World IG Regiment as a labor of love though. Gonna be using Bretonnian parts for it. Have then be lead by a Knight Household and paint them up in my Family Crest colors.

Whats a good unit to slap a chaplain on with codex space marines?

I love these skull face monsters

I'm having a hard time disagreeing with you.

But I feel like if I take a predator, I may as well take havocs instead and a chance for them to shoot twice.

What would make a predator > LC/ML havocs?

Vanguards vets are solid

2k brigade detachment, by the way

I dunno, i kinda like the tiny inner arms, I wanted to go for an 'Alien Queen' kind of feel to it, big sweeping shapes with smaller frantic shapes layered inside

I don't like Valkyries, so do you think double heavy flamer Chimeras are a good substitute for 2 squads of 4 Bullgryn?

My main army is Imperial Guard. Picked them up in the twilight hours of 5th edition after learning 40k with CSM. I love Imperial Guard as an armored cavalry force with some tanks and artillery support, fast and elite moving in. I enjoy them due to while I do have numbers it isn't a swarm like conscripts or unmounted veterans or infantry squads are, they feel like an armored bulwark of humanity unaltered fighting to preserve human life even if the system they serve under is monstrous. They fight against foes that out number the stars with bravery that makes the Emperor shed a tear when they fall in combat. With a detachment of Stormtroopers dropping in as well for added fire support and valkyrie to give close fire support it is fun at my LGS. The only two weak points so far in it are my Hellhound and Leman Russ, but, that was when dealing with Khorne Daemons and they got to just nom them. The fluff for IG really gets me, humanity fighting for survival without augmentation is something I enjoy in fiction. Augmented humans always feel lazy when they are like SM and handled as badly as they are by most authors. At least BA in Devastation of Baal are interesting.

Plus I got into 40k via the Ciaphas Cain Cain books so IG has a special place in my heart. As I start a nid army (probably GSC eventually as well).

Do we have any CA leaks otger than what's on the community site and that one from a couple weeks ago? I'm dying to know how GW try to make my army playable.

How to load em up?

I currently run some with plasma pistols with JP and a captain as a fuck you unit

What army is that?

I’ve been putting together a blood angels army with the start collecting box, death company box, 2 more boxes pf 5 death company, 2 boxes of sniper scouts, a stormraven, a rhino and a handful of finecast HQs.

Waiting on the codex to see if i add primaris.

Ultramarines

5-man is tough to use. I'd say keep em cheap and put a power sword or axe on the sarge, and maybe melta bombs too.

Are there any guys out there who used to favour Khorne but now are into Slaanesh as they grew older? I remember being edgy and loving all that blood god shit, but now I find the porngod more appealing. Honestly beyond the sex appeal I just find them more old school devilish compared to others, compared to Slaanesh being the youngest - so not necessarily the most powerful.

Purple is also a good colour.

It already exists, his name is Robute

Fuck no, I'd kill myself.

Dark Eldar. Supposedly we're getting rules buffs and points cost reductions but all I've seen is stupid CC shit and a Warlod trait that is 100% useless.

Only the armies with no codexes are really getting anything beyond point changes.

I'm into Nurgle.

Well i know its going to sound silly, but i ended up stumbling upon the Blood Angels thinking they were related to the Blood Ravens in some way or form but then i fell in love with them because i really am into Vampire and they just had that Noble but with a dark secret thing i love also.

Orks.

They're fantastic for converting, have great fluff, a decent, if dated, model range. In particular I love speed freaks, I feel like they're the pinnacle of the Ork lifestyle.

Even though speed freak lists aren't that great these days thanks to overpriced trukks, it's all I ever run.

I had the opposite transition.

God i fucking love those fuckers i hope some form of them gets ported over to 40k

Getting older and going through HH and other books made me truly appreciate Undivided legions/warbands.

That's a good question. I play Thousand Sons, so that's not really an issue that I face.

I suppose a Predator is more resilient to small arms fire, and if you're going to take three then Killshot is insane.

The Natfka ones are confirmed as of this morning.
Yeah, Dark Eldar got jack shit. Most of the CA updates are garbage.

>Feudal world
>manoftaste.jpeg
I actually want to doll up some Sydonian Dragoons like this, but the head is already so great I'm not sure what's left to change.

I'm thinking of putting a lass from the coven throne on the side of one as his "damsel", but stuffing her full of guitar wire and prosthetics as is 40k.

>40k starts using Necromunda's alternating unit activation, like how the fight phase currently works
Does the game become better or worse?

I had kinda the opposite transition. At first I thought Slaanesh was pretty cool but as I got older the themes wear on me. While Khorne's a lot more one note than Slaanesh there's also a lot of room for nuance in how you wanna take them. Khorne daemons also look the most like classical daemons from antiquity.

Chaos lords used to be able to take Juggernauts as mounts, and technically still can if you use their index entry, but they weren't ported to the codex proper. It's pretty clear they're gonna stop supporting that particular option going forward. Hopefully Daemons will still have their bloodletters on juggernauts option like they have for a while now.

You would be better off taking obliterators over either of those.

Nothing is preventing you from taking stuff from regular CSM codex in a different detachment. 3 predators is also not a great idea since they die or get tied in melee fairly easily nowadays.
