Serious answer: in my experience it's that the gaming/rpg community offered escapism, then after transition you just end up staying in the community since you're now involved with games and have stuff you like.

It's because many tabletop games involve putting oneself into the shoes of a fictional person, often very different from oneself, and trans people have already passed that barrier to entry by virtue of their identity. Furthermore, games create a space where only certain, well-understood rules are important, meaning all the political and religious bullshit they don't want to deal with gets left outside. Lastly, people who play tabletop games tend to have more experience putting themselves in others' shoes, and so are more open to accepting people who are different from them.
Of course, ttgs also attract a lot of insular /pol/-tards because they like feeling smarter and more capable than others, and tabletop games offer a low stakes way to do that. So it isn't perfect for them. But that's why trans folks are frequently into tabletop games.
