Face. Shadowrun lets you talk your way through so many more things than other games I feel. It also tacks onto other roles so easily, like a cool headed squad leader type sam, suave B&E, etc

Doesn't matter.
If it doesn't have a foregrip in the rules, it doesn't have one.
Artwork might simply show a different configuration.

Yekka:

As said above, both the Walther PP110 and the Marpingen Pro have fucked-up stats in Chummer.

Correct Stats for the PP110:

Acc 7, Damage 7P, AP 0, SA, 16(c), 7R, 325€
Metahuman Adjustment, Flashlight (standard), Advanced Safety System.

Chummer has Damage and AP wrong and is missing the Metahuman adjustment.

Next gun in the next post

Marpingen Pro:

The rifle barrel has

Acc: 6, DV 11P, AP -4, SM, (1) RC (

How do you guys handle gun acquisition for your games? Do you let contacts acquire any gun or do they have lists of specific guns for sale with others they can get?

Metahuman adjustment isn't a modification for weapons, as far as I'm aware. I'll sort out the other stuff.
I do Connection + 12 as stuff that they'll have readily available; anything else takes time.

To conclude this, the Mannlicher Dirmingen SX BD is also wrong:

Shotgunbarrel (uses shotgun ranges):
Acc 6, DV 14(f) AP+1, SS, RC(1), Ammo 1(b)

Another one:

Is melee Arm of God a thing? I want to run a street sam with a melee hand and a gun hand.

Sure, doable.
But probably not wise.
Arm-of-God is for people who don't want to spend much on physical stats. Having low BOD will fuck you in Melee though.

Could still be viable.

Well, what's the best/most accepted way to be interchangeably shooty and choppy? I've only played awakened characters so far.

Standard arm of god has max STR for recoil comp, so it also works for melee.

The problem is that you also need to get heavy mods to gofast, both in terms of initiative and covering distance, to make melee viable. At that point it's not the Arm of God so much as it is a street samurai with cyberarms. As said, the whole reason it's an Arm of God is because you bolt an amazing machine to some /robot/ so they're not useless. If you go all-in on already being physical, your cyberarms are only better than the rest of you, rather than being transcendentally above.

Your preferred initiative booster, skimmers/skates, Bilateral Coprocessor for cheap disregard of offhand penalties, and a GM who fixes melee by allowing simple attacks and attacks of opportunity that actually mean something. Two cyberarms isn't terrible.

I like being a decker and I don't care who know it. We're here, we're a pain in the ass, get used to it.

Forgot to mention the Nemesis Arms Praetorian, the only pistol with integral bayonet. Not the best gun in the game, but if you want to run into a group of corpsec and do your best John-Woo-by-way-of-Tarantino impression two of those are tickets to the top.

My nigger.

Other than that?- Just a sammy, I guess. I find it very cool to bust out your tricked-out burst-fire pistol when you want to shoot some guys to drek.

Face/Sam is one of the best combos for screentime chasers.
By nature of your Attribute distribution, you have basically always something to do, except for matrix and maybe magic shittery.
Sneaking, talking, shooting, everything easy to do.

nice digits, omae.

My favorite character so far was an italian-american cybered face with pistol skills to rival Han Solo. He automatically became the party leader, despite his horrible decision-making skills. The group was in shambles whenever I roleplayed him with an overdone brooklyn accent.

Anyone else give their character an accent when roleplaying?

pic related, one of my other characters!

Gave my russian rigger the most obnoxious russian accent.

>Grab Maneuvering Autosoft and WTLM as advanced programs.
Just to point out; you have to take Maneuver as a karma-bought program for this to work (and the GM has to accept that its rating == depth), otherwise your Depth is limited to your Maneuver autosoft rating.

>The Maneuver autosoft rating must be at least as high as the AI’s Depth for WTLM to work.

I'm inclined to piss on advanced programs entirely, and only use Disguise / Impersonation skills, because they're already just that good together.

Because he's an idiot who set up the bloatware so that the items are hidden if they're beyond the legal availability limit.

Mentor Spirits are no longer even adding their Mentor's Mask extra PP, and Dragonslayer/Wise Warrior are erroring out. Both do the same, both of the above errors.

user, I'm not retarded. I've checked it with that checked and without it checked. I've had it inconsistently show or not show on the same version of chummer, on the same saves at different instances of opening them.

I'll look into it, should get it sorted before the next build.

I dunno if it helps, but for Dragonslayer, the skill it effects is also saying "Mentor Spirit source not found" but still giving the bonus?

Cyberlimb StreetSams and razorgirl/boys.

Well, then the explanation is just plain old incompetence.

Rigga is da Nigga... Beep Boop Army of robutts to do as you please and if sone dies you strap some C4 on and Boom! Aluakbar that shit into the moon while you all get away!

You can have A resources and B attributes, (or even A and A sum to ten). Have cyberlimbs for strength and agility, dumb your meat stats for them and focus on intuition, willpower, body and reaction with your stat points. You'll only end up with mediocre amounts of initiative dice without drugs (you won't really be able to get over 2d6 - barring burnout adept shenanigans) but your base will be solid you'll, decent defense and high armour form the additonal points in the limbs.

If some type of equipment is immediately needed for the run the fixer has it, most of the times with a fatter price tag. If it's something that a player just wants for his character and it's very rare, that's most of the time some kind of side quest, like when our rigger wanted one of the laser weapons for her newest combat drone.

For an infiltrator/street sam, what skills are absolutely necessary?

I'm taking Assensing and Perception, Sneaking, Palming, and Longarms at minimum.

Hey Yekka, how did you make Chummer? What programming languages and everything?

>Assensing
Are you magic? Because that's a magic skill.

For a small business that wouldn't really have a host, what would its devices be slaved to?

Does the improved reflexes adept power increase matrix initiative?
which magic type bro?

Physical adept, be it an athlete type, a swordsman, or fist of the north star, all of it is cool and fun

I'm a Vampire PhysAd, using normal STT without any houserules.

I'm basically starting out as an ex-military vet that lost their SIN, and life, in the Crash 2.0 event, and recently had shit go down while fighting infected. Character loses, gets most of his shit stolen, goes "Fuck. This is bad." and hits up an ex-military buddy of his who's a fixer to try and get himself back on his feet and figure out what the fuck is going on.

Codebase is mostly C# with XML data, some .Net 4.7 features but mostly .Net 4.5. Easy as hell to pick up, you can basically just set a breakpoint and step through the code to figure out what it's doing.

I picked it up about... 2,3 years ago because I wanted to use Point Buy from Run Faster and the current dev had disappeared. I got kind of lucky in that most of the old code from Chummer 4's karma system was still in the code, so I could just follow the bouncing ball as I learned how to code.
Initiative, unless otherwise specified, is always meatspace.
Yeah it's something janky with how it generates the source. Mentors are fucking weird, we're still working on decoupling them from being as hardcoded as they were.

How different is C# from C++, if I wanted to contribute? All I know is C++ and Java...

Syntactical difference mostly, C# has automatic memory management and you don't need to faff about with pointers and such. It's easy enough to figure out what most things do, provided you don't get involved with some of the deeper sections of the skill displays and such.

Simpleish starter issues would be

How do you avoid astral detection as a mundane in 5e? I struggle with some of the language about how astral perception works, and it seems like there's no particularly good way to avoid detection spells without being guarded by the group mage all the time. I want to make an infiltrator character who can hide their signature in meatspace, the matrix, and the astral plane at the same time, but I'm not sure how.

Is this garbage? Are there any major fuckups?

Any way you could shell out to smartlink your guns? If nothing else, it might let you reinvest the power points you put into Nimble Fingers since smartgun systems make free actions out of a lot of the same stuff.

Another vote for face/sam. gets it, you make everyone's life so much easier that they're more than willing to share their scenes.

Nah, I'm going for minimal wireless and a longarms build. That's why I've got Hawkeye and Improved Sense(Vision Mag), so I won't need smartlink as much.

I wish I could do accents well, I just sound like a sperg no matter what I try.

I'd like to get started with a project similar to Chummer some time in the future (e.g. never). It'd be for D&D, which is much simpler than Shadowrun. Is it feasible to learn C# and undertake a project like that? How much time would I have to invest?

Any tips or motivational pats on the back?

even bad voices are good for roleplaying
1, it lets your fellow players know when you're talking in character vs out of character and 2, it helps with staying in character
there's only one way to learn
if you're talking about 5e I wouldn't bother
character creation is already so simple and there are plenty of apps and in browser things that handle it already
if you're not, then god speed

Words are more important than acting. When my old crew was starting out playing SR, our Face couldn't choose the right words and questions and missed out on pressing some dice advantages. Picking the right words can also overcome a poor roll or replace rolling altogether depending on the GM.

Treat the Face as a people-hacker rather than a slutty bard - do your job, and you'll have your table's respect.

Just wear a thick wool coat. Any walls sight is blocked by also blocks astral. So your stealth score applies to the astral plane as well.

A thick wool coat is as stealth in astral as it is in real life i.e. not very

And RPC applies only to material senses, not astral

Anyone know if the street scum campaign rules are going to be added into chummer anytime soon? It shows up as an option, but is currently fucked. It still forces you to choose one from each priority instead of BCDEE or CCDDE. Also it has starting money all fucked up.

Use Sum-To-X for it, I'll get it sorted properly at some point but it's a relatively low priority.

Did you get your charisma 2 & logic 2 through attribute points or karma? Considering you're already impressively shit in social situations, I'd consider charisma 1 & logic 3, buying up charisma if you ever make an effort to not be a vampire slob.

>Consummate Professional
It's common for runners to talk about what they've done previously to some extent - that's how they get Street Cred and (to some extent) how others know they're good for hiring. If you take this, then you don't talk about your work, and pick fixers who like to keep their mouths shut, too. That's a negative, even if it's not a mechanical negative before you think about social modifiers and who is going to like your presence. Combine that with your general offensive personality (cha 2), poor appearance, intense hobo-ness, and nonexistent social presence (impassive) ... you're running a theme where you're more of a dislikeable hindrance than a help when meeting anyone - and only the fact you don't talk shop bumps you up slightly with Mr Johnson.
That can be ok, provided you and your GM know where you're putting yourself.

>longarms and pistols, vs automatics
I'd go with automatics for the purposes of saving skill points for . May not be as exciting as a burst fire shotgun or rifle, but they're more common and you probably won't be sitting in a sniper nest very often anyway. It also means it's a little more ok to go with tracer rounds when you're not firing from a km away, and that means you can manage all three range penalty reductions.
YMMV.

>no fully covering armour
Get a HEL suit or something to break up your severe daylight allergy. (full covering + radiation proofed means you drop to Mild) Include a medkit in the 5 capacity it comes with. (even tho you're not infectious, no one else is going to want to do your first aid) The gas mask in the ballistic mask is a good idea for dormancy, but I'd keep it in the clothes you're wearing so you don't risk not having it at the right moment.

Thank you.
Also, the Ares Matilda drone has a few wrong values. Its availiblity is listed as 2, it should be 12R, and its price is listed at 4000 nuygen, and it should be 18,000 nuygen. Unless there is a rigger 5.0 errata that im missing.

>ow do you avoid astral detection as a mundane in 5e?
Simplest answer - solid snake your way through known astral perception zones. Inanimate items show up as shadowy and dark on the astral, so you stand some chance of not being noticed.

Stick to groups of other people. Assensing can identify someone that's been assensed before, but it has dice penalties when picking out individuals from crowds.

Hide behind anything that's alive. Plants count. It's not as good as people, but with distance and cover you can possibly scrape through.

Use background counts. If you can cause any kind of intense emotion or kill any living thing, that's worth a small penalty.

Create distractions. Drawing people or animals into the patrol zone helps, but even getting the assenser to do something mundane while they're working will lower their dice pool.

What was his fucking deal anyway? What was he? No way he was just a regular metahuman. I kept waiting for an explanation in Hong Kong, but he only had a cameo there.

How would your runners react if they got into a car chase and ended up in one of those dashcam footage compilation shows?

Aside from costing an assload and becoming a war criminal is there any reason not to use an armtech MGL loaded with alternating kamikaze and nitro grenades and using a semi auto burst to incapacitate/kill anything that breathes?

An Immortal Elf probably. Or a powerful free spirit.

Do you care about the melee-users in your team?

In general, area-denial goes both ways of your not careful, although, I don't know the rules for things like cloud dispersal rates.

Let's say there's a really low security business, like a glorified mom and pop store, that my players need to break into.

What would their security be connected to? A really low power host? A decent commlink? Or would they just be on the grid itself?

Loremaster. I love the setting, so I make characters who also know the setting and can introduce it to new players. I max out knowledge skills such as Magical Theory, Magical Threats, Matrix, Matrix Threats, History, Literature, Religion, Philosophy, Shadow Community (Rumors), Sprawl Life (Rumors), etc.
This sort of build merges very will with a Face, since he knows enough to bullshit being part of loads of organizations.

I mean, the way I understand it, any Matrix Science student who attended class half the time could set up a host. Chances are they'd just have a rating 2 or 3 host running on four Mac-minis or something.

>somehow set up a Foundation
Uh

Transys Avalon costs 5000¥ has a device rating of 6, and I imagine is comparable to the brand new iPhone or whatever
device rating 6 means 18 slaved devices, that's more than enough for a small shop, especially considering the commlink serves as your "eftpos" machine and phone (and probably management/accounting computer)

So can newly awoken adept teenagers kept their new powers hidden from their parents and teachers? just not go to school?

strictly adept characters don't look or act physically different in any way
they might run faster, jump higher or be smarter than they were before, but they probably don't know themselves that they've awakened for a while

Oh good.

just skip yearly med exams

I was thinking 3.5, actually.

why do you have enhanced accuracy automatics, when you don't have any automatic weapons

>I'd go with automatics *6 for the purposes of saving skill points for
*Gunnery. (0 in other firearms skills, ditto on picking between blades and unarmed)

So you can still find outlet for heavy/exotic/other weapons, just without splitting points into all the different skills.

>What is your favorite?

Razorboy/girl.

What do you do for the climax of your campaigns, /srg/? Do you have "final bosses" planned?

Depends on what the players do, they might find a way to avoid the climax altogether. I tend to come up with a general run, then just ad-lib everything because my players are unpredictable.

Ran a custom Arcology Shutdown once. Instead of organizing an airlift from the top of the arcology, defeating the AI, or fighting their way out floor by floor, they instead broke a window and escaped by surfing the team's minotaur down the outside of the building.

It wasn't a pink mohawk campaign.

Hey Yekka the new nightly crashes if you add the Prime Datahaven Membership quality.

>So can newly awoken adept teenagers kept their new powers hidden from their parents and teachers? just not go to school?
Can't hide it from anyone astrally perceiving; it only takes 1 hit on assensing to notice.

Mundies would probably feel the presence of a MAG 6 adept using his powers, since any form of magic triggers everyone nearby.

People are supposed to be formally screened for magical potential, but there's a laundry list of reasons why your character might have gotten around that.

>Mundies would probably feel the presence of a MAG 6 adept using his powers, since any form of magic triggers everyone nearby.
Nah. That's for spells.

>"Any form of magic (conjuring, spellcasting, enchanting, maagical lodges, spirits, etc.)"
?

>... changes the world around it.

>Sometimes it’s obvious through a magician’s gestures or incantations (magicians seen by non-Awakened people are sometimes called “twitchy fingers”).

It's spells.

>Noticing magic is a Simple Perception + Intuition [Mental] Test with a threshold equal to the Skill Rating of the being performing it minus the Force of the magic, or 6 – Force if there’s no skill involved (minimum 1 in either case).

Note that there's no option for noticing magic without force being involved, the examples are all about mages and spells, and it finishes by telling you that obvious mage magic is obvious.

>Obviously, if a magician is throwing fre from his fngertips, you’re probably going to notice without making a test. But if the magic is subtle, then you have to pick up some dice.

It's fucking spells.

*yes, I should have allowed for other stuff that has force.

Stealth is not about not being seen, it's also about blending in.

This is why Innocuous is so good, mingling in crowds is a perfect way to slip past guards.

Social stealth is best stealth.
Because it's so much harder to to notice somebody you do not mind.
Somebody in a latex catsuit in a dark room will have some serious explaining to do.

that's actually a great character.

Also the a truckload of datasofts and those memory improvements and at some point you just KNOW stuff to a degree others make a degree for.

Fixed, will be in the next build.

Yup, there's a load of bioware that really helps (the advantage over cyber is that it's undetectable, so you appear naturally smart).
Adept powers also help, especially analytics.

There is also that weird nanoware that let's you relive your memories as if it just happened to you.

>I think you got the wrong locker room

Do different traditions percive astral space in different ways?
So does a hermetic mage see Astral space with the same mechanical efffects, but instead of ,maybe, animal persoifications a shaman would see he sees auras as complex runes and formulas ?

About to start a Miami campaign, had an idea for a mid-campaign adventure where the party 'wins' free tickets to Disney World in Orlando. My idea for Shadowrun!Disney World is that they really upped their special effects game with animatronics on walkabout throughout the park and magic used in conjunction with animatronics to bring the Disney characters 'to life'. I'm trying to set up a Westworld scenario for the party to get stuck in with no weapons and I need some help- what would be the most dangerous/terrifying Disney movie to have come to life to try to kill you?

An awakened Bambi going berserk and screaming about his mother.

The cast of Toy Story chasing you, screaming along the lines of "stop moving before Andy sees you!" and trying to make you stop moving, for good.

Shrek mumbling about onions, trying to capture people and peel them to show off their layers.

Since Disney owns Star Wars now, I guess Ewoks capturing and cooking people would count.

That's all I got. Sorry that my ideas are kinda shit, I lack imagination.

Eidetic Sense Memory does that as well, and they can also get that weird Blade Runner image manipulation magic VR memory power.

I would love to play something like this, but I am the forever-GM, and the only player to express interest in running a game knows almost nothing about the settingand i'm the only one who has cared to read into it, so I feel like I'd be dictating what the world is like to him from the backseat.

Actually, I have half a dozen characters in mind, but I feel like I should be gming instead.

I'd had no Karma spare, but honestly, I could probably bring Reaction down a bit and just put that into mentals.

Been out of the loop for a little while. Is there anything in the new German releases that make heavy weapons viable as a primary weapon stat?
