He brings a shield, which is really nice to have on an important support element.
Not yet sure it's worth trading in the shooty cloak for it, but it is a very good option even if it's just a reroll of 1s.
Mind you, a upgrade kit would have been perfectly fine for that, too. Or at least a model without that awful a head.

Terrorgheist is generally more useful than the dragon, a mounted ghoulking grants it regen, which is useful but costs a fair amount of points.

I recently rediscovered my 7e/8e 2000 point dwarf army with 110 models, and two cannons. Mostly Warriors with great weapons and shields, 20 miners and quarrelers and some Ironbreakers. I shelved it with the End Times killing my interest in Fantasy.

Can I still play AOS or do I need to buy one of those new shiny airships?

You can totally still play. Old Dwarf stuff is now called "Dispossessed". They even got traits and relics in the new General's Handbook.

Cannons are under Ironweld Arsenal (as well as any gyrocopters you might have) which can ally with Dispossessed, which is what your dorfs are called now. You can find their new stats on GW website, just click each unit in the online shop- there will be download link in the details.

Thinking of getting into Sigmar. I'm trying to diversify my painting so maybe something with less Armour and more skin? What would you guys recommend?

So I'm trying to shoot for my first list for 1500 points. I only have a start collecting box, I was just playing around and trying to see what I should take. I didn't choose general abilities or anything (and the auric hesrthguard confuse me, I can just take them as a non-battleline and still be legal right? Not like my friends would really care regardless), I have 0 idea what are good abilities and special artefacts or what have you. Still, is this halfway decent or what should I do to change it?

How do the Dispossessed perform against recent armies, or against some that have plenty of options (ScE, Seraphon)? I love the models but the lack of unit diversity seems a problem to me (i come from Skavens...)

old armies don't play well against new armies. This is by design as GW want to incentivise buying the new models.

Old armies are still fun though, just don't expect to win much. The new armies dominate tournaments.

I played a game with my Dwarves vs. Skeletons and Daemons the other day with some of the new skeleton models and they held up pretty well.

The most consistently high-placing tier-1 army in the game before and after ghb17. So dominant that the other high tier armies start changing their lists to answer the question 'what do I do against tzeentch?' when considering what to play. Tzeentch has the best spells, can compete in every phase, and gets to literally cheat at dice as their main faction ability.

I gotta agree here; don't get me wrong I enjoy the Stormcast so far, but they already have a good lineup, giving them a bunch of variant heroes and leaving most factions with only one and most factions barebone is aggravating.

A good Death release would make sense about now; what with the story shifting to Nagash and Mannfred's machinations

they are great fun, look awesome, and kill some of the top factions quite easily. They don't excel generally though.

Would still recommend playing them though.
