Plains X20 (100)
Water X16 (180)
Mountains X6 (270)
Volcano X2 (300)
Wasteland X100+

Aeons ago a meteor slammed into a lifeless surface, creating the life sustaining world you see before you in the crater.

D2: The Empire of the Black Sun
Capitol X1 (15) [15-20]
Black Harbor X5 (90) [15-40]
Fallen Empire X1 (100) [15-45]
The imperials claim heritage of an ancient civilization, their true connection is suspect but they prefer it over just being conquering, enslaving assholes.

C4: Mountains of Peace
Mystics X5 (100) [50-75]
The hidden library is located here. The mystics protect their secrets against the imperials zelously, even when their own children are used as fish bait.

E3: Dark Halls
Tunnellers X8 (80) [8-40]
Deep Dwellers (100) [10-50]
Vassals of the imperials, they offer up yearly tributes of virile men. In return they are left more or less in peace.

D4: Dragon's peak
Riverfolk X10 (100) [10-50]
The water is constantly steaming yet it's the coolest thing around. Land is not safe here.

C6: The Far Reaches
Highbuilders X3 (90) [45-60]
Those that live on this landmass think it's the end of the world.

C7: The Big City
Hubtowns X20 (100) [20-100]
There's casino's here

D7: The Ridge
Hermitage X10 (100) [50-100]
The trek anybody that's from the humble beginnings must make to reach The Big City

D8: Humble Beginnings
Husbandry X7 (70) [7-35]
Barbarians X6 (100) [7-65]
This is the starting town.

Now for the monsters.
E5: Tritonia
Immediately make the minimum pressure for all areas except the mountains of peace, the far reaches and the ridge

the mountains of peace I'll deal with by throwing wild merfolk in the path of the imperials (C3). That'd be anywhere between 10 and 18 units. I'll stay in-between with 14.
The Dark Halls also get offered as fish food with 5 units of wild merfolk on E2. They also have 15 units of Devil Bugs infesting their sewers.

The Far Reaches have 10 units of harpies and 3 units of domestics to bring them over the minimum

Optional content with rolling

Additional setting info and we're done.

I think freedom is one of the big perks the "media", and I like it when authors take advantage of it, e.g. using them to explore an actually original setting; going meta ; not caring about IP, or making them extremely long (see Traveller's Tale for both).
I like it when they're fun (pic rel), I like it when they make me think or feel.
In other words, I like it when they have a soul.

The Ridge can be kept down with an endless horde of goblins, 40 units to be exact

then there's monsters that aren't necessary but fun to include
like the 4 dragons and and 2 units of dragonkin at dragon's peak
and the 10 units of domestics at Humble Beginnings (7 of which don't exert pressure), one unit of naturalized domestics and 1 unit of lamia
or the Big City having a Danuki unit running the crooked casinos and 10 units of amazons that find jobs as enforcers

the empire of the Black Sun isn't safe either, they have some pressure left and I'm filling it u with 3 units of Cancer

Events:
Plague of Wrath at the Dark Halls. Not with the expectation it'll be triggered, just in case.
Hell and High Water. Because it'll flood everything except for my castle and my army of merfolk. (and the starter town, but it'd have to be a pretty darn impressive sea adventure to get to me then)
Turbulent Skies at the Far Reaches. Would Hell and High Water trigger it? It's happening everywhere. That would make for a great army of Sirens.
I'll take some extra husbandry stacks on the plains next to Humble Beginnings so I can set the Monster Famr event. Just because I think it's cool.
I can also make sure not to fill their pressure up too much, just so the black harbor can have a slave rout to one of the lower ones, crossing E5, which I can then fill up with sea slimes and set up the Sunken Atlantis event

Anyway. My castle is at D1, the farthest possible from anybody heroic.

Design, Lore, Characters, and Choices. Long ago the four elements to a cyoa lived in perfect harmony in /cyoag/. Then, everything changed when the Tok attacked, only an authorfag a master of the four elements could stop them, but when the /cyoag/ needed one the most, they vanished.

>Design, Lore, Characters, and Choices
CYOA cyoa: pick only two of the above.

Repostan for 3_tankista

Mostly because if you want a few laws you pretty much have to nuke your stats into oblivion, which means the only way to actually reach an outcome is Willpower. Let's look at the math real fast, the theoretical maximum for each of the stats is

Glory: 14
Honor: 25
Will: 40

Already pretty slanted, yeah. Now let's look at how much stats you could potentially lose:

Glory: -32
Honor: -32
Will: -21

That's....less than ideal. But that's just surface level stuff, when you get into it the picture becomes worse for non-Will stats. First off, maximum Honor requires you to both take Maiden (already the most unpopular start iirc), then choose the extra land and stat boost abilities, the Pagan religion, and then give up all seven of your non-Capital holdings to Nikita Popov. Not to mention one of the allies encourages negative honor and Vladimir being hard to secure an alliance with even with positive Honor. Glory is already handicapped in terms of how much you can get, but it limits you to a total of 5 laws (4 if not Oligarchic). The bonuses for the laws aren't bad (Orient Company, Sudebnik, Collect Tribute, Zastroyka Edict, and Trade League), but they aren't something great like Sanctioned Spellcraft. Of the companions that take negative points from Glory, Helgi will likely hate you if you pass any laws regardless and has a high alliance threshold, while Vasiliy is easy to ally with even with negative Glory. Glory also basically requires your Bogatyr to do pointless shit instead of something useful like kill glaciers or Koschey

There is a metric fuckton of Will available, and the drawback for it (strained or hostile relations with other nations) aren't that bad. Two potential allies encourage bad relations with foreign powers, and the penalties for Strained (not being able to hire their units) is situational at best, pointless at worst.

Lore and Choices

Choices and Choices.

I'll take these

Hello. I searched the impressively organized archives for this one CYOA, i could not find it.

It was about moving into a new town that was isolated. You can choose how it's isolated: two of the choices I can remember were the paths winding in on themselves and an infinite wilderness. You could choose an occupation, two small items, and a mentor. But you can choose one more of a small item or a mentor if you choose an additional mystery at the last section.
If anyone remember something like this, can you please post it?

You can use power to safely get high stats without losing out on army strength while also becoming a bogatyr all your own. My old build finished out at 6 glory, -1 honor, and 9 will and I don't think it would be that hard to tweak it to focus on glory instead. As for honor, you would be hard pressed to get it with power but a lot of honor points seem better suited to one of the merger endings rather than thrice ninth tsardom making 9 honor rather redundant. The real problem is how building and some laws have no mechanical value, an infrastructure stat or something similar needs to be implemented to make them a reasonable choice beyond flavor.

...

Power doesn't give you stats. The fact is there just isn't as much Glory as there is Will, and Glory is required for more things. Plus maximizing your power limits the amount of Glory you can collect.

You can get 9 Glory, I'm not denying that it is possible, I was just providing proof on why High-Will negative-everything else builds are so popular.

Focusing on having acceptable relationships with other rulers all around let me focus on purging the taint of Koschey from the nearby lands, as my bogatyr searches for the needle that hides his soul. I'll lead the troops myself, and I assume it's mostly the risen dead I'm fighting so I'm not worried about things like guns. Also because my units tend towards defense and I'm not attacked by my neighbors I'm in for a good long campaign without taking too much damage.

Afterwards I'll occupy the lands the dead ruled and create infrastructure so that the future republic has a good start, hopefully becoming the future breadbasket of the region

Well i think i will do nicely until there is a power cut or something and everything blows up.

Changing the stats earned for having each nation as strained or enemies or perhaps giving bonus glory for every nation/kynaz you are at war with beyond one you have and changing some of the laws so that they give honor and take away glory would balance things quite a bit. Glory is probably intended to be harder to get than Will while Honor is just something that most won't bother with due to it not fitting the theme of an ambitious knyaz seeking to rule all of Svetlania that the cyoa pushes.

This was exactly it, thank you very much.

Basically the gameplan is to stay out in the wild for extended periods of hunting, learning and looting. Only returning to town when in need of resupply or repairs (or help, if I'd ever need that for some reason).

Teleport back to town when out of potions/poisons/arrows/food/whatever then sell what I can and buy what I need at the market, then after some drinks and relaxing it's out innawoods again.

As for the servant an exta pair of hands can't hurt, and some company would be nice on long hunting trips. If I get to choose what kind of monster the servant should be I want a dragon for that "supreme intelligence".

I would offer myself but i have stuff to finish.

Underwater volcanoes are actually safer than aboveground volcanoes, as the water forms an insulating envelope around the lava via evaporation which prevents the surrounding water from becoming dangerous hot. Air has no such mechanism, so the air around exposed lava is often too hot via convection for you to survive.

...

I still say it's a dangerous place to go hunting for dragons.

Water may insulate but the absense of air causes its own share of problems for most people.

We got ourselves a winner

>Not having a leviathan soul ready for the occasion
What a fucking casual

Seems like a lot of effort to slay a leviathan just so you can challenge a submarinal, volcanic dragon.

I'll just be over in the woods, killing tigers and slimes and playing some chill tunes.

The master of the hunt is (probably) disappointed by your lack of bloodlust

As I see it, as long as I can reach my quotas and survive the culling he has no right to complain.
Heck I say I'm much more dedicated to hunting than the town-dwelling, culling-skipping luxury addicts who only meet their quota and then live it up with parties and fancy food until next season.

Good point.

If buildings gave things like Glory/Honor or had their own stats then it might be worthwhile.

According to the sheet, your build should be:
STR 3
DEF 6
AGI 7
INT 10
SKL 6

Added to sheet.

This build is running a -10 Tribute balance. Might want to fix that.

This technique is applied over a number of clones each with four arms who can all access my near endless pockets of spells, and actvated them at full power as they were stored by me, as well as summon there own beatle hoard to distract the enemy or bomb them with spells safely. This makes a fight with my hunter more like a fight with an army, pelting monsters from all sides with fists and explosions.

And my stats are pretty balanced which is nice.
