What's in the box?

You know exactly what's in it, user.

Like 50 years of collected SOX-related research, evidence, data, and other materials that my team is going to deliver to LuxIA so they can purchase/hostile takeover the area so that the Luxembourger diaspora can return home.

Then you open it and find something, or rather, someone, much different from what you expected. Guess you should've looked at the packaging more.
What do you do then, user?
What then?

Every new wii looks weirder than the last

Hopefully a whole fucking lot of Orichalcum.

Wizzer, my modular cyberdong subscription. This month's theme is "neon sunrise".

If its from /k/ then its probably full of dragon dildos.

If there's a person, I dunno, my whole team has gas masks and knockout gas grenades. Pop one of the grenades in their face and look for a data vault then deliver anyway.

American-san blowup doll.

Is this like outlaw star? Is there an organic gynoid in there?

20 kilos of Rating 25 Explosives set next to 10 kilos of Napalm. I like to call this one the "Contract Nullification Fee"

How do you just get napalm like that?

You make a jank version of it - Gasoline and Styrofoam.

But realistically, in game turns, our team's unofficial chemist synthesizes it.

All the commlinks I ordered to give out to my friends

I remember making that shit as a teenager during a boring summer vacation. My friend almost burnt his face off when we were playing with it.

The SAS still exists in the 2060s right?

Since the United Kingdom still exists(just sans northern Ireland), they would still exist in some form or another.

I sure do love GMing shadowrun over the internet and having to use 5+ cheat sheets to get my brainlet self to comprehend the rules

At least my players seem like they're having fun

share cheat sheets?

They're in the same place all the other rulebooks are, in the 5e section under "Summaries".

I'm a player in an online game.

The rules to shadowrun fucking suck, but the setting is nice. If I had a system which did this in like, One Roll Engine, I'd hop on it and never look back.

Check London Falling

I'd like some opinions, chummers.

Yekka, when is that weapon mount thing being implemented? Please, man, I'm trying to make a Rigger.

+/- 48 hours hopefully, I got annoyed at a certain implementation aspect that I wanted to deal with first but it should be fixable.

Fixed.

Get a more recent model, omae...

All my boxes turn up empty but my old model seems to be getting new parts she's calling subscription hardware updates. I'm not sure what's going on.

My character is a minotaur and was taught a minotaur specific martial arts as an unarmed specialisation that was invented to utilise their reach and horns, any ideas on how that would work? I was going to make it wrestling heavy as they are of Greek origin.

Probably some kind of wrestling/grappling, in which you get hold of the opponent and use your horns to inflict damage. Occasional head-first charging also is part of it.

Personally I think it sound kinda impractical.

Am I missing something or are all the combat spells for mages kinda butt?

So for direct the opponent can resist the damage with Body or Will, and then it only does the Net Hits in damage. That seems super situational, and really piddly even at high Force.

And then, for Indirect spells, the mage has to make a ranged attack AND only does Force+net hits on top of it.

So shooting somebody with an Ares Predator is the equivilant of casting a Force 8 spell at them? Omae, that sounds pretty weak.

Consider the troll with 40 Armour. That troll, when hit with a Stunbolt, only gets to roll his WIL for defence.

Like
Said, Stunbolt and Stunball are good for your troll killing. But combat spells are good not for their damage but their side effects. Napalm is knockdown and burning. Electricity takes away initiative etc.

Direct spells can bypass armor, and are great for taking down tanky targets. Indirects are good for elemental damage effects especially as area spells. You can also do nonlethal takedowns very easily like this.

But for raw DV in general, no, they're not great.

What sort of nonlethal takedowns can spells do? Stunballs and the like?

Welcome to the club, I'm playing out for the setting and the people in playing with.
Certainly not the rules.
Was thinking about buying cyberpunk 2e.

agony also has the ability to incapacitate, but you'll probably have to pile on the hate in other ways to get it there

Would add some knowledge skills of personal interest, like Fashion (tracksuits).
How has wandering horse 9 connection points spend on him ?
You might want to buy one of those fancy high accuracy hunting shotguns, just in case you need to clear a room, sniping sith SA is pretty situation dependent.
Missing Motivation x Personality = Character2
Otherwise 8/10 would let it hit my table.

Chill causes stun damage as elemental spell and reduces initative.
Turn to goo is just a fucking mess of a spell
The unarmed and/or poorly motivated can usually be kept put by a simple physical barrier.
There is the rosebush family of spells from FA.
Confusion is fun for mid combat debuffs and can be a serious action denial of properly focused on.

Damn, I honestly hadn't thought about that. I don't know if we're going to be running into any cyberzombie trolls, but I'll definitely keep that in mind.

So you're saying that mages are more for their utility and such? Or are they more useful for summoning spirits?

Both, depending on how you build. The best thing a mage can do in a fight is summon a spirit if hes good at it. But utility mages are worth their weight in gold; invisibility, trid phantasms, initiative fuckery, levitate the numerous fun things you can do with that physical wall spell like use it as a ramp to go full Dukes of Hazzard. Use your head and you can do some fun shit.

what's the point of neuro stun 9?

To be Neuro Stun 7's lunch

Mages themselve are mostly for utility, that's right, but if you start summoning it get's crazy.
Then you can do stuff like weather control, or murder an entire group of security with your force 6 fire spirit or just assume control of any critter you like.
Then again, foci are rather cheap and there isn't much stopping you from edging the improfe reflexes spell, summon your mana blade/club and fight together with the sammy at almost face value.

Or brownies... don't eat the brownies

Since you brought it up, I've got a couple of questions about foci as well. I know they cost karma to "bond" with them and that makes sense if the mage is looting them off a dead corpse. Is this karma bonding also required if the mage is buying them from a talismonger or a 2070 Spencers? And how common are these shops, are we talking 40 in a big city or all underground?

Yeah, but rather than a generic military force they're basically the Lod Protector's personal murdersquad for getting rid of subversives. They're pure tech (no mages) and no metas, with rumoured links to human supremacist policlubs (some of their former members have also turned up as far right politicians). Not friendly dudes basically.

Yes; no matter how you acquire it, it costs Karma to bond a focus. As for talismongers, they're quite common, but the level of foci they could make or sell may be limited.

How does everybody approach the challenge of designing runs, in general principles? I can spend hours world building a world, npcs to populate it, and even individual runs. But whenever I try to think up some basic narrative to guide players along my imagination just clams up completely.

Thanks for the advice! Any other basic stuff I should know about playing a mage? I'm running kind of a seat-of-my-pants type game, where we all know the most basic parts of the game and we learn as we go. Hacking and fighting I've got a good grasp on but the numerous things that mages can do is still a bit tricky.

My ones usually start with a McGuffin and i start building around it.
Who could want it firm himself/destroyed/found out and hire runners for that ?
Who owns it ?
Why can't the dude that hired the johnson just walk upon it by himself and take it ?
What are some personal problems/twists that could happen to the runners ?
How much is the run worth and how much do people want to pay for it ?

kek
I clicked the 'ignore character creation rules' cause this was more intended to be a prime runner npc than an actual character.

I appreciate the feedback.

There's more to doing runs than just working for Megacorp#412. Before I run a game I like to have a list of all the different potential bosses in a particular city. So in my version of New York, there are about 5 different megacorps, the NY government and the feds, the NYPD which is a corp in and of itself but provides great pulp fiction style runs, and the different criminal syndicates. Think up a simple run for each of them, and try to make the individual elements (Johnson, McGuffin, Location, Twist, Escalation, Rewards, Follow-through by Johnson for good or evil) all different. The average corp run should be very, very different from a run from the Mafia, who should also be distinct from the Irish Mob.

Work from the big picture in, basically. And rip off plots from Law and Order.

And also keep in mind that runs can be done for different deparments of the same company. open.edu/openlearn/money-management/organisations-and-management-accounting/content-section-4.1

Maybe an Evo R&D needs the players to retrieve a data dog that's got a neurological bomb inside of it. Or HR wants them to retrieve a former mage who they suspect has gone toxic.

>Any other basic stuff I should know about playing a mage?

-Freaking out and overcasting an F12 fireball is a great way to decorate the mission area with the contents of your skull
-Pay attention to your defense and soak pools, think carefully about how to reach respectable levels. If you wander into a firefight with only 17 soak and 8 defense, then you're in trouble if someone shoots you. Stay in cover.
-Don't look like a mage during runs. That's how you get geeked. Manage your appearance.
-Reagents are your friend
-Spirits are great

How do you get better defense pools?

How did he get elected? Why were the UCAS citizens so unbelievably cucked to the point where they actually elected a dragon to be president?

they are 'mericans and canadians
look at what they have now, Trudeau an Donnie

you expect these guys to make resonable decisions?

Want to get into shadowrun after playing the games. Have experience on _______5e and have already read the core rulebook, want to find a group on roll20 but they all lack a gm or are exclusively kraut. Wat do

learn German?

I cba learning another language atm. I already know spanish, french and english. I'm spic What are my options, pen and paper scene is ded where I live. The only working group is mine where I'm foreverDM

Who's your leader?

.... i dont wanna talk about it Merkel

Not him but I imagined so

i mean
this is /srg/ so a solid assumption

What makes Shadowrun big in Germany?

S-K has a Great Dragon in charge and they're the most powerful entity on earth. Dunkelzahn also had the best press out of all the dragons, he was downright famous and hosted the equlivent of a popular late night talkshow with Wyrm Talk.
>They had a choice
If a Great Dragon wants the presidency he's gonna get it. Even ignoring the above how is a politician supposed to compete aganist a giant fire breathing lizard from before the dawn of human civilization?

I Honestly dont know, one thing might be that the German Publisher isnt shit like CGL

Also tabels, germans fucking love tabels.

What happens when you bite the big one in the Sixth World? With all of metahumanity's tech and magic, did they ever figure that one out? And what about how you die? If you die in the Matrix or on the Astral Plane is there a chance you could "live on" in some form besides other people's memories in meatspace?

Just wondering if there's a splatbook of any edition that goes into it.

There's e-ghosts, brain in jars (though those are really hard to do), and actual ghosts (though there is some debate in universe whether or not those are actually ghosts or just spirits who think they're ghosts.

This nigger knows what's up.
Tables and spreadsheets and anything organized

Have E-ghosts been created wthout jackbnimble?

I don't think it's ever confirmed anywhere in the lore.

But that shouldn't stop every two-bit cult leader with a MAG rating from claiming that they saw the answer in a vision, initiation, or metaplanar quest.

Lots
There are even two type of E-ghosts
One where you brain burns out while jacked in but the signals manage to stay in the matrix and continue "living"
The other is more like how AIs sprout in the matrix. The data trail you have left in the matrix coalesce into an e-ghost that thinks its you and acts like you but with big chunk of memories missing(the part you did not put on the matrix)

>The data trail you have left in the matrix coalesce into an e-ghost that thinks its you and acts like you but with big chunk of memories missing(the part you did not put on the matrix)
>an e-ghost based on shitposting
how horrifying

Bleak setting with lots of fetish potential and neon everywhere? Not to mention plenty of counter-culture and anti-authoritarian vibes? I mean its like crack for modern Germans.

Has anyone else having a problem with using skillwires/skill jack. I can add one or the other, but as soon as i add both it crashes.

>>anything organized

So not shadowrun at all

Its sufficient if we can bring Ordnung into the mess.

Anyways, Shadowrun is a huge system that allows you to build characters like with Lego, that appeals to many german players.

Seems like overkill for anything that wouldn't be out of your league.

everyone should be doing this anyway

Did the UCAS drop that whole natural citizenship requirement for presidency?

Did the UCAS carry over the American constitution? In Canada you don't have to be a natural born citizen to run for Prime Minister. They probably frankenstein'd the two systems together and removed the clause.
>In June of 2056, the UCAS Congress formally recognized the great dragon Dunkelzahn as a legal citizen, boosting the Technocrats to the top of the polls (e.g. pandering to the Awakened vote, and people who thought adding a great dragon to the tax base would be great for the UCAS).
Course less then a year later he ran for president. Which seems incredibly fishy, but nobody could contest the Big D since he was legally a citizen.

Why?

Well, the first US presidents weren't natural citizens either since they were born as British subjects. Maybe D argued that since he was alive back then he fell under the same rule that allowed those presidents?

That's... actually kinda brilliant.

How much better is German shadowrun?

>that image
Why are Dr. Wily and Owen Wilson hosting a show about power rangers with deformities?

Cause the Germans take much better care of the game.

About 20%

Fixing the biggest stinkers and gettign some interesting new gear.

the five characters at the bottom and the old one on the top are from GitS

>Cause the Germans take much better care of the game.

Possible solution to shadowrun woes: End 5e, give 6e to the Germans, let us play English translations of their work.

Plot twist: All the translations are done by FFG, with the same quality as their Prometheum Exxet translation.

It's super sentai Ghost in the Shell

...

According to some sources on stackexchange the clarification qa list for the translation into french/german was 140 pages long for kreuzfeuer (run & gun) alone.

Holy shit, what zhe actual Fick ?
