I like to imagine Dreadnoughts who have been repurposed by civilians to be farming equipment

I like to imagine Dreadnoughts who have been repurposed by civilians to be farming equipment.
They're just as intense as normal Dreadnoughts, but about the harvest, and crops and such.
Shit like "OUR BROTHERS RELY UPON THE VITTLES WE GENERATE HERE"
"THE IMPERIUM HAS MUCH NEED OPTIMIZED CROP ROTATION"
"A BALANCED DIET MUST BE PROVIDED TO COMBAT THE ENEMIES OF MAN"

So instead of plasma guns they have ferilizer guns?

And big scythes instead of power fists
Or maybe pushing a combine along, loudly humming old Imperium chants.

>Or maybe pushing a combine along, loudly humming old Imperium chants.

Nice. I'll have to ask for this in a drawthread.
Have a breadnought in the meantime

Think also of the farmer sitting on top of his massive frame as they walk to market, using a long bamboo rod to guide the xenoducks at they walk in front of them, chatting about his campaigns

You can make a chapter outta this idea

Just imagine, a chapter forms and is given a world which according to imperial documents is pretty decently populated, upon arrival, some 100 marines and 5 dreadnoughts discover that the intel was wrong and barely anyone is alive, as a result they end up having to farm their own supplies in the harsh enviroment, the dreadnoughts take up gardening and tend to dispatch pests with extremem prejudice such as killing ants with flamethrowers and destroying birds with storm bolters

I sorta imagined it would be like settlers of a soon-to-be Agri world find an ancient battlefield, where a half buried Dreadnought was fixed up and given a plow, but an entire core would be hilarious as well.
Agri Marines.

Why is this Deathwatch wasting time fighting heretics?

>fighting
He's obviously helping that poor fellow by picking him up to assist him in getting over that rubble.

>"Watch out, edgy brother! I need to carry you away or the aliens will get you!"

>COME, BROTHER. WE WILL PUT YOU TO WORK IN THE FIELDS

What would the colors of the Dreadnought be?
I'm thinking John Deere green and yellow

Because the orks were a distraction used by Chaos like always.

Black and green with yellow reserved for their chapter logo: the noble deere

Great idea, boss.

>using a long bamboo rod to guide the xenoducks
This is a thing we do? Without the xeno?

>literally Salamanders colours, with a yellow deer as the chapter icon, and wheat iconography instead of fire

It is, actually.
Walking behind them walked them forward, and the you tap any ducks that wander to far left or right

Same reason why the chaos marine isn’t breaking that arm with his power fist.

No. Chaos was a distraction by orks.

Works for me

Clearly that's a harlequin. A really dedicated harlequin. Maybe a bit on the heavy side too.

The pointed ears give it away

THE EMPEROR IS MY SHEPHERD
I SHALL NOT WANT
HE MAKETH ME DOWN TO LIE
HE LEADETH ME BY THE FLOWING RIVERS OF FILTHY ALIEN BLOOD
HE RESTORETH MY BODY AND MIND
HE LEADETH ME IN THE PATHS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR MANKIND’S SAKE
YEA, THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE IMPERIUM’S CROPS
I WILL FEAR NO WEEVIL
FOR THOU ART WITH ME
THY BOLTER AND THY FLAMER, THEY COMFORT ME
THOU PREPARETH A TABLE FOR ME IN THE PRESENCE OF MY ENEMIES
THOU ANOINTETH MY SARCOPHAGUS WITH OIL
THE BLOOD RUNNETH OVER
SURELY MURDER AND FURY SHALL FOLLOW ME ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE
AND I WILL DWELL IN THE BARN OF THE EMPEROR FOREVER
AMEN

...huh, hadn't notice that. Good catch.

Written upon the parchments sealed to his frame.

Oh cool, looks like it is from the same series as pic related

it is!
Jakub Rozalski is the artist.
He actually did the art for a Veeky Forums called Scythe (I actually play tested that), and is the inspiration for the RTS Iron Harvest that will come out one day.
I don't mean to shill I'm just a fan of the guy.

>big scythes instead of power fists

So death guard dreadnoughts are already multi-purpose?

no, that job belongs to the Salamanders

Well, Mortarion used to be a farmer

...

Please actually make Farmarines a thing.

Wasnt that the original purpose of Emperors Scythes Chapter.
Aggressive Farmer Chapter up until Nids Locust came and devoured their crops.

Turns out this is all due to a massive accident.

A marine support fleet got lost in the warp, and crash landed on an agriworld, on a relatively peaceful frontier of the Imperium.

The agriworlders, having only a bare knowledge of the galaxy at large, didn't realise the crashed materiel was intended for marines... since they'd been long overdue for a shipment of farm equipment from a forge world.

Well, those rhinos with dozerblades made excellent plows, and they did a great job of the fields. Likewise the flamers had the prometheum replaced with fertilizer, and pressed into service.

They even got the power armour working (their artisans were nothing if not industrious (and a little heretical))

By the time the Imperium found them, they mistook all these power armoured farmers as an actual Chapter, and told them about the nearby incursions of Hive Fleet Locust.

Naturally, the Emperor's Farmers were aghast... locusts would eat all the crops!

I like where this is going.

I like to imaging the chickens have evolved into Chocobos and the pigs giant princess mononoke boars.

Their terminator squads have power claws, which they use as rakes. And of course they're veterans, so they're the most phlegmatic of farmers.

>"Looks like we've got more nids comin'"
>"Well.... 't'least it ain't corn blight."

Every year they have a huge Harvest Festival with a bonfire. It's now tradition for him to light the bonfire with his heavy flamer.

>I WILL FEEL NO WEEVIL

What would be the notable characters in the "chapter"?
Captain Trevor?
Venerable dreadnought "Old McDonald"?
Ideas people

I figure the dreadnought could also be a scarecrow.

They should have cyber-sheep (using the rules for cyberwolves). The MC sheep would be called Shaun and get into all sorts of close shaves.

I'd imagine that this would be the role of the Contemptor pattern dreadnoughts mostly, the original type being too busy and the wrong shape.
YES. BRILLIANT.

And you can also use them to scour off bloodstains with their steel wool.

Any ideas for chapter-specific weaponry and/or artifacts? Nature of weapon, where used, significance?

This could be nid infested world so regular humans no longer can fulfill their farming duties. So a special chapter is formed. Maybe they have some flaw that makes them unusable for real combat.

Obviously, they're at constant war with both a nid splinter and a death guard warband, i'm thinking hive fleet Acrididae, but im pulling a blank for the death guard
Scythes, obviously. loyalist chemsprayers, lots of apothecaries, custom dozer blades on their rhino-chassis, power weapons include sickles, threshes etc

Mostly what's been said; power scythes, power rakes (claws), fertiliser launchers (flamers). Their Chief Librarian could use a relic force stave called "Bo of Lady Peep". House rules give it special bonuses to the aforementioned cyber-sheep.

dude, thats sacriledge.

As snow melts and winter ends brother start to plow the fields on their landriders. Plowing includes instantly shooting nids that jump from their burrows and holes.

Chapter specific chants are wide and varied, tending to be a more collection of sayings and specialised dialect of gothic. One of the rare longer and more sonorous chants being a poem reading reading... "Sister Mary had a cyber-lamb, it ran into a pylon. Six thousand volts went up its ass and turn'd its wool to nylon" Many of the documented cyber-sheep seem to have augmentations to the nature of the wool they produce, suggesting a basis in reality to this saying?

OP here.
Love what you're all doing with the place

>Dang nabbin' 'nids out here
>Varmits, everyone of 'em
>Them "Death Watch" fellers ain't so rough and tough, ol' MacDonald takes good care of 'em

Forgot image lol

Plenty of uses for retired Dreadnoughts...

Even in death they still serf.

Kek

Rhinos are now open topped, and carry twice the occupants as previous, and all the occupants can fire their weapons even while the Rhino is moving - at their modified skill of BS 2

Reminds me of this

Can I have Imperial Guard like this plz

Death Korps are pretty close.
