Girlfriend wants to get army. Picking between Sisters, tyranids, or demons. She really likes the Saint Celestine and Mangus the Red models. She likes the general looks of tyranids. We currently have Harlequins and Tau and Harlequins require a little too much finesse to play for her right now. She wants to do something in every phase (tau is just shooting with the occasional movement).

What do you guys think?

That's about 750pts and that army does something in every phase. Genestealers are crazy in CC. Broodlords are speedy and have psychic powers. Tyrannofex is nuts in the shooting phase. Mawloc a fantastic model and good fun. It's also included in the Start Collecting! box.

The next 250pts you could add whatever units she thinks look neat. I like Zoanthropes so I always bring those.

I don't know if the picture of him that gets thrown about is official or not. But giving him ladybits seems appropriately Slaaneshi.
