Have you ever recived gifts from people out of the blue related to 40k?

dark angels convert checking in

I got some poorly primed Space Wolf terminators that were blue once.

THREAD CLAIMED BY BEST ARMY

I once got a huge batch of Tyranid and Tau models. It was like 150 gaunts and a bunch of other stuff.

Anyone got Heart of Decay?

So, /40kg/ how has chapter approved changed your army lists?

I will keep searching for of runs conversions another day, thanks for the sugestions.

What kind of music do they listen to in Commorragh?

Also - is the stunclaw on a Helliarch a good idea or am I better off leaving him with a hellglaive? He has 3 attacks, so 3 chances to roll a 6 and do a mortal wound is pretty cool, but unreliable.

eisenhorn omni. i read a lot, and got it as a random gift for christmas so many years ago, its what got me into the game

>Thousand Sons
Barely, should have been more.
Hopefully that means the codex is soon, they desperately need more powers, nerfs to Magnus and buffs to everything else.

I don't use it

there are actual bargains with ukrainian recasters on ebay, but yeah it always amuses me when I scroll further down and i see blatant anvil industries minis being sold for krieggers

I once got a box of Gretchin and some paints as a gift from a family friend. I don't play orks and it was oil paints, but still I really appreciated the thought.

I also once gifted a friend an Imperial Knight out of the blue. I had bought it on the spour of the moment but then realized that I probably would have played it once or twice a year, so I gave it to him as he play IG.

it made my repressors more expensive but thats balanced out my exorcists and inferno pistols getting cheaper. So err, not really no.

>What kind of music do they listen to in Commorragh?
Peturbator

Basically reduced my usual Repressor spam from 5 to 4. Including the squad that goes inside.

Now there is a reason to give the Canoness something else beside the power maul.

So good I can only afford 3 HWTs in my army.

It made me give up hope of R&H ever being usable so now I am making a soup list of CSM with R&H vehicles to maintain some semblance of usability.

My man. I’d bet that Reavers have Carpenter Brut - Turbo Killer blasting in their helmets during races.

>Repressor

Immolator is the one true tankfu!

Why?

Gesaffelstein, aka "this music makes me want to go over the top and die anonymously"

My Sicaran Battle Tank is now considerable cheaper and far more viable for its points.
Inferno Pistols went down a lot. They're still shit but I love them anyway.
Between those two I can fit an entire new Skitarii detachment in my soup list.

user good SoB players use both.
Dominions and Retribution in Repressor, while Battle Sisters Squad ride Immolators

Getting a real shin chan vibe from that little guy.

audiobookol.com/?s=warhammer 40k

It should be here but I don't know if it's trustworthy. Can you post it here if it works?

Made my Plagueboys cheaper so I can bring more Plagueboys

Think I'm about to bite the bullet and finally get into the table top. Trying to decide between the CSM or DEldar Start Collecting boxes, since both seem to give me a ~500pt army to start with on their own; any advice/shit to bear in mind for either choice?

AdMech was already good, now things are great. My troops are cheap as chips, HQ point decreases across the board, and still no nerfs on Kastelans mean I'm able to field all my big bots and still have the points to fill up the ground with bubblewrap

You guys make good corpse walls.

CSM are way better supported and have an up to date Codex. So they might be easier to get started with.

That picture puts them in a bad light. I hear they're all pretty swell guys.

>Hopefully that means the codex is soon,
It's a filler codex that is 99% done. So yes it probably is.

>they desperately need more powers,
Ah you mean 6 Witchfires that are statistically worse than Smite?

>nerfs to Magnus
Loses access to Dark Hereticus. Along with all Thousand Sons

>and buffs to everything else.
If buffs you mean leave exactly the same as index? Then yes. Buffs all around.

DEldar have gorgeous minis and people won’t give you shit for playing them. But CSM/Chaos in general get the most releases second only to Loyalist Marines.

i can't stand the old minis, and if you're going into non-TS/DG CSM then your minis will be as old as the fucking sun, so DEldar for me

>inb4 CAAC

pick an army you prefer the aesthetics first and foremost, since you'll be spending hours and hours fidgeting with it and you better like it

Parasite's Kiss is pretty great - 2+ to wound, -2 AP, 2 Damage and it's free.

Is it viable to run 120 Khorne berserkers with Khârn? I mean that as in that being the only units I'd have on the table

Well I wrote my own Thousand Sons Codex for 5th through to 7th, guess it's more of the same for me.

in terms of points or cash? if cash then yeah my wallet weeps for thee

>losing doesn't phase me since dying is what krieggers are meant to do

pretty good feel

One time back in 5th edition, some random guy walked into the store with a massive box of 40k stuff and told me and the other guy there that it was ours, he never wanted to see it again.

So I got an entire dark angels army and a shit ton of poorly built space marine vehicles. Used em as trade fodder for years. Finally traded the last bit away a year ago.

Dark Eldar is 40k on hard mode and people will give you respect for playing and winning with them.

Some of the best looking models in the game. One of the few armies to have a cohesive design theme, and all the kits are interchangeable - want a punch dagger from the Wyches box on a Kabalite Warrior? No problem. Want to convert a unique HQ, easy.

That said, Dark Eldar are hard to play and we are an NPC race - we are never the main characters and we don't have that much importance to GW so don't expect a lot of love. How we got a plastic redesign in 2010 while Sisters are still metal I'll never know.

Our start collecting is probably the best one out there since dark elder NEED transports.

Seriously, when people make joke armies to see who can come up with the worst possible army, footslogging Dark Eldar is usually the top pick.

>taking regular battle sisters
>8th edition
what are you doing?

Thinking about it, aren't GSCs kinda like Dark Eldar?

Except without Dark Lance spam.

But with more melee and psychic shit.

Does one go for the Bolt Pistols on Space Marine bikers, or Chainswords? The pistols seem like the more reasonable choice, but bikers swinging Chainswords is just so much cooler.

Colonel Schaeffer's last chancers, usable in 8th?

GSC need to be souped with nids or IG to be effective in any way

Why Not power lances?

Or better yet, Power Fists on Bikes.

Are we likely to see a Dark Angels pdf tomorrow or the day after?

That would be neat, but I guess they're index options. And I kinda don't have the points, they're mostly for filler/harassing.

Got a PDF?

Saturday

Chainswords, 100 times out of 100. If you shoot the pistols you can't use your other weapons, and 1 extra S4 shooting attack in your shooting phase after at least 1 round of combat is almost always worth less than 1 extra S4 CC attack every fight phase. Also chainswords on bikers is metal as all hell.

I got the Gangs of Commoragh box is any of it usable. I love the reaver bikes theyre really pretty

>GKs
Its fucking nothing
>Nids
Its fucking nothing

/Our King/ fucking when?

Getting obsec units and CPs?

Bullshit, 5th ed deldar were easy mode. Blaster-bikes for tanks, raider-warriors with blaster and cannon for everything else. Sliscus and haemonculus for HQ.

Index options are still valid, and a couple extra points can make them a lot deadlier. Also, what legion are you running? It might make a bit of a difference, particularly if you can still fire rapid fire weapons or assault after advancing.

DEldar aesthetics definitely appeal to me, along with the general style of hitting as hard and as fast as possible. White Scars were also something I was considering, but would be a more expensive starting point.

That said, I don't hate the older Chaos minis. I DO dislike that I'll need to buy upgrade parts for Noise Marines (was planning either EC or Red Corsairs).

and Though considering what these anons say, there's possibly hope for new Slaaneshi models.

After seeing the new power and relic in Chapter Approved, I think we're pretty likely to get a Grey Knight tier codex.

Tomorrow

t. a Chaos Marine player

I just take a vangaurd detachment of marauders alongside CSM shit.

even then, my plasma guns got more expensive

CP and Objective secure
Also run out of models for Dominions

Dark Eldar are beautiful, but they are bad for beginners for a number of reasons-

Hard to paint, hard to assemble, hard to transport, hard to play.

CSM on the other hand can be as easy to paint as loyalists, but they have enough optional detail and conversion opportunities to keep a veteran happy. Most of their range is good, but they also possess, BY FAR, the shittiest looking models in the game. Berserkers, defilers, possessed, obliterators, and even Abaddon are old piles of dog shit. My advice- play CSM but use loyalist kits for those.

Yes and no.

GSC is all about ambush tactics and unpredictability, they also have plentiful access to tanks and armor.

Dark Eldar is all about speed, overwhelming firepower, and offense.

However, if you mean that both armies have a lot of 5+ saves and are fragile - then yes, they are similar in that respect.

This ain't 5th edition is it? You're like 8 years behind.

>that's not true, 3 editions ago they were really good!!!

I have a lot of vehicle and I really enjoy them so I don't want to get rid of them.

>GKs
We weep together, brother.

This was a 7th ed revision drive.google.com/file/d/0B0MRTi-bPUKcNVM1YUJidEJWVlU/view?usp=sharing
And this was a 6th ed revision I think drive.google.com/file/d/0B0MRTi-bPUKcbWRsUi1yUl9xbTF0dHZtaXhZTjBnN2o0WWNn/view?usp=sharing

I haven't read through these so I don't know how final these iterations were, I play tested a lot of crazy things when working on them so don't be too surprised if you see something that seems totally broken.

As someone who plays both CSM and DE, I kinda prefer playing dark eldar. The models are some of the nicest on the table, they aren't super common, and they have lots of fun (efficacy not guaranteed) playstyles. Red corsairs, to be fair, are also rad as fuck, and can include lots of bits from regular CSM and loyalist space marines, so you can easily set up a nice looking force. Also a bit more forgiving to paint and to play, and the bits are a easier to come by. Either way, do what you want cause a pirate is free, and either way you'll be set to loot across the galaxy.

GSC are sneaky, DE are speedy

Minotaurs, so I'm free to choose, but probably either Black Templars or White Scars as Chapter tactic, to go full on melee.
Also, I just realised that I have 11 spare points, and at the very least the sergeant has the options for the sergeant equipment, so he could take something else. Maybe I can shave that one point somewhere off and give him a powerfist. Powerfisting drive-bys sound like fun.

Everyone else fights for stupid bullshit reasons.

Play the army who's only goal is to cause havoc and take captives back to torture so they can stay beautiful and immortal.

So a while back I wanted to get into the tabletop, and bought that bundle thing with Dark Angels and some Chaos Space Marines. Haven't touched it since, but with the new Da codex coming out soon I'm reconsidering actually committing to the tabletop this time. So I have a question. Are Primaris Marines as retarted a concept as they seem? And how viable is it to ignore them and just play SM without them? Because if I can run a DA army without worrying about these faggot then that would be nice.

Yeah, I'm actually taking Power Klaws now. Even have been experimenting with MANZ squads.

They're still overpriced, but have been performing better than I had thought. Klaws are definitely viable for Nobz leading Boyz squads now.

I was taking Kustom Mega Kannons already so the reduction there was nice.

On the other hand, Morkanaut and Deffkoptas are still hot garbage, and the Killkannon remains a sick joke.

I take powerklaws and buggies now, instead of playing orkperial guard with green tides and big traks.

Deldar and Orks are the only people that are having fun in 40k

I'm a bit confused by the Mordian doctrine, looking at their uniforms they're clearly based on US Marines but there doesn't seem to be anything that represents the Devil dog's penchant for fratricide or sexual assault

What does that even mean?

Look at this bad mother fucker.

Look at him.

I rest my case.

>Started this year, went Dark Eldar
>Painting looks like shit
>Don't really know how I'm supposed to play them
>Force is unbalanced (I have 1000pts, but it only fits in an Outrider detachment at the moment)
>Currently shifting them around in tupperware, but I don't take my full force anywhere as I'm still painting them

If I'd known they were a shit beginner army would I have still gone with them? Probably, I like the models and theme, but I made things hard on myself.

I can't recommend KR Multicase enough. They literally build custom trays to protect your Raiders and whatever other big-awkward sailboats you guys have.

I've already been working on more psychic powers but It's early days yet.

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1phHpntB0u1P2UXWWaaik4abqbJ4biyaXtvUQbTnZ188/edit?usp=sharing feel free to add comments on what could be changed or any ideas you might want to see.

...

Sure enough, but Orks at least don't get murderraped by Slaanesh when they finally die. I'm imagaining WAAAGH!!!lhalla exists, and the ladz krump each other every day until they're big and tuff, and Gork and Mork decide to lead da biggest WAAAGH!!! ever.

This is a pretty good read,if anyone is looking for a decent short story.

Jesus Christ! Can you make The Brave Little Toaster ANY DARKER?

Yes.. I friend has spoiled me with old school deldar twice. The first was a bunch of old plastic sprues along with OG metal Lelith and Drahzar. Then again he bit me with a Ravager and a few lance scourges, both 3rd Ed era models.

The Toaster has a butthole. But he's not a virgin. Not anymore.

Thank me later.

>hard to paint

This scares me the most and is the biggest reason for the indecision; I have legit not painted a thing since, like, grade school watercolors or some shit.
That said, an argument can be made for "trial by fire", and there's always Daily Duncan.

what do think the firing squad order is?

it's how they deal with the victims

cute!CUUUUUUUTE!!

Tzeentch's Firestorm should work on 5s goddammit.

It's kind of up in the air, but not terrible since hellions should be getting +1A drugs, which brings it to a 2/3 chance. Shame it's on the wound and not the hit.

FUCKING BATTLESCRIBE STILL HASNT UPDATED!! IWANTPICTUREBUILDER! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

But he isn't plastic.

You'll have more fun when you learn to use them than if you'd played something boring like Marines.

>Painting looks shit
You'll improve, or be like me and learn to just not give a damn and make 'em look okay at a distance

>Don't know how I'm supposed to play them
Generally speaking, raider party boats flying around, isolating opposing units and gunning them down.
What do you usually use? Might be able to give tips.

>Force only fits in an Outrider detachment
This can be solved pretty easily, but playing in specialised detachments (especially at 1k or less) is fine. I'm basically forced to play my Saim Hann eldar in Outrider and Vanguard detachments too, and it's not really a big deal.

>Currently shifting them around in tupperware
KR Multicase is pretty decent for cheap foam, or you can go to a hardware store and buy a case and foam insets. You might find stuff on ebay too.

Regular marines suck, just use Primaris for green wing and supplement with Ravenwing and deathwing
