entirely depends on the army. horde army, up to 45 min depending if player knows rules properly, but some smaller high point cost armies can take less then 10 min a turn

Okay, /40kg/, I need advice. So, I've been into 40k as far as the lore, games, and RPGs goes for quite a while now, but I never owned any miniatures. I have little interest in learning and playing the game itself (if I did play it would be casual), but I do want to get and paint some of my own minis for shits and giggles.

That being said, I don't give a flying fuck about official Jews Workshop minis and would rather buy bootleg and not give them money for anything unreasonably priced. My questions are these:

What's a good source for the cheapest unpainted models (Chineese knockoffs or not)? I know you can find a decent offer once in a blue moon on Ebay but I'm thinking someplace more reliable and less prone to retards. I don't care about the material they're made out of, they will be handled with care.

Ditto for paints. Would they carry something usable at the nearest Hobby Lobby?

And are there any mistakes that most first time 40k buyers/painters make a lot?

Rather than give us more special characters, I'd prefer that they start printing more interesting relics that aren't just "+1 Chainsword" or "Artificer Armor with ITWND." Give us an Iron Warriors super mechatendril relic that lets you assume direct control of a nearby tank, give us an Alpha Legion relic that lets you swap the position of two units, etc.

It would be neat if they got a special character that works like the ultramarines tank commander. But I definitely agree that we don't really need more named characters especially with 2 more daemon primaries and 3 loyalist primaries coming out eventually

Ravenguard seems the most fitting out of the chapters you listed. The others are too ... unstable to really fit in with a policing focuses IG regiment.

Luckily, my chapter colour scheme is desert themed, and scorpions are found in deserts, so I can probably fluff most of the decorations as personal heraldry rather than chapter heresy.

At this point Horus's rebellion was 100% justified, which also means every primarch that rebelled alongside him was justified. Which isn't a good thing. It means the final conflict between the Emperor and Horus doesn't matter, because both sides are thoroughly unsympathetic assholes who aim to turn the Imperium into a dystopian hellhole. It means that Erebus is no longer a treacherous snake, he's a valiant hero trying to warn his brethren before it's too late. It means that every loyalist primarch got duped into aiding a man who planned to stab them in the back.

They're also removing all emotional motivations : the Emperor has been turned into a calculating, stone cold intelligence that barely understands the concept of humanity anymore, and most (if not all) primarchs have been turned into insecure teenage autists that don't know what to do with themselves and sprout daddy issues the instant he isn't holding their hand

I know Heavy Bolters are god's gift to Havocs right now, but are Missile Launchers bad? I've heard mixed things about them. I run EC so being able to either shoot a potential 12 missile shots from long range (plus my other anti-tank) with two full squads is appealing, as is the ability to get 12d6 bolter shots to kill crowds if I need to.

I generally don't go out of my way to fuck up my models during assembly, so not really.
