I'm 18. First time on Veeky Forums. I don't want to become a millionaire, ideally I'd like a salary of six figures. My parents are blue collar workers. I'm entering my third semester at the second best university in my state. I have a 3.95 GPA studying Cyber Security, $800 in savings, and currently work in retail for $9 an hour. I'm have about $6,000 in loans taken out. I own a used car and have paid it all off.
It doesn't have to be financial advice, it can be any general life advice you've picked up in your journey towards success, that would be very kind if you could share with an ambitious young lad.
my advice - build an attitude where you DO want to become a millionaire.
-then become one. pay attention to Veeky Forums, DO NOT MISS OUT. 1 CHANCE MOTHAFUCKA

if you want to do security stuff, study up on x86 assembly, learn how to use ollydbg/x64dbg/IDA Pro, keygen some crackme's, etc. Learning that stuff will give you a large competitive edge in your field. Also learn Excel really well, it's handy in every office setting.

>get a job >live frugally >contribute 10%+ to a 401k starting from your first paycheck >continually look for other jobs which leverage your experience and pay more >keep moving up but no not allow lifestyle inflation to take over >keep aggressively saving and investing >ride out any crashes while you are young >as you get older (40s-50s) start moving to less risky investments that's it
you are in the top 1% of americans and retire at 55 congrats

I'm setting a realistic goal. Few people become millionaires.

Kek it's not about the age. 20 and about 4.6MM, you?

Is it possible to become a millionaire in 2 years?
Carson Adams
>Few people become millionaires not true if you have a white collar career and contribute to your retirement
this may not have been true to the pension generation, but as 401ks and IRAs have replaced pensions, it is not uncommon to technically have 1m+ net worth even if you live on 50k/year during your retirement

Here’s my advice:
Recognise you are doing all of this to be happy. Everything you’ve just posted Is something you’ve decided at some point will make you happy.
There are 4 aspects to happiness: > achievement (dopamine) > exercise (endorphins) > social (oxytocin) > enjoyment (serotonin)
Your focus in this post is on achievement so I’ll tell you what will help along your journey so you don’t actually kys. > don’t devalue positives because the underlying belief of “if you let yourself feel accomplishment you’ll get lazy” > recognise when you develop an inability to enjoy success because standards are way above what should be acceptable. A good reality check is “would I think positively of someone else if they managed this?” - if the answer is yes you need to make sure the same applies to you. > you need a balance of the 4 aforementioned neurotransmitters. Focus on achievement will not make up for deficits in the other 3. You wouldn’t try survive on a diet of Just rice, no matter how much rice, and expect to feel healthy.
t. I work in therapy so this is the only type of advice I have. Also all in VeChain faggot or be poor forever

you're only setting that goal because your parents are poor so you have ingrained poor-mindset. Most people on /biz are becoming millionaires, you just aren't aware of whats happening right now in cryptoland. Stop making excuses.
nvm you're already too weak.
Nicholas Williams
Most people your age fuck up and don't start putting their lives together properly until they are in their early-mid 20s. In that sense, anything you do now to get yourself ahead works in your advantage.
You should want to be a millionaire. It doesn't mean you have to live like one. It does mean that you can pay your bills, turn the heat on, and buy food for quite some time.
I did some work for a wealthy business owner who lived in a $2.5 million mansion. He was surrounded by people and many fountains of wealth. Friends. Family. Young women (mind you, he was in his 70s). Aristocracy (politicians, local celebrities, etc).
He reached a point where he ran out of money. Shortly after, everything and everyone disappeared. He was alone in a house that cost over $1000/month just to heat (property taxes were easily $12k+). He eventually sold it and left the country to live overseas. He's doing ok now.
The reason I tell you this is to give you a real example of a man who made it. He had people come at him from every angle for his wealth. He fell for it. He spent too much too fast and got swindled. After the money disappeared, so did all the vultures.
Keep your wealth under your hat. Don't leave crumbs out for the vultures.
