Roll for 5e class and stats

Roll for 5e class and stats

Using Colvile Method: 4d6, drop lowest. 1st stat rolled is Str, 2nd rolled is Dex, so on for on for Con, Int, Wis, Cha. Restart if you don't have at least two 15's.

Rolled 11 (1d12)

Yeah aight.

Rolled 5, 4, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 4, 6, 5, 3, 2, 6, 1, 2, 4, 4, 4, 1, 4, 1, 3, 4, 2 = 87 (24d6)

Rolled 5, 4, 6, 4, 2, 6, 3, 2, 6, 1, 5, 4, 5, 4, 5, 2, 1, 1, 6, 2, 6, 3, 5, 4 = 92 (24d6)

Well fuck, looks like I gotta roll again.

Rolled 2 (1d12)

Sure why not

Rolled 4, 2, 3, 6, 5, 5, 6, 5, 5, 3, 1, 6, 1, 3, 1, 1, 6, 6, 1, 4, 1, 3, 6, 1 = 85 (24d6)

>Bard
well okay

Rolled 10 (1d12)

Rolled 2, 6, 5, 6, 2, 6, 2, 6, 1, 6, 5, 3, 5, 5, 4, 4, 4, 4, 3, 3, 1, 2, 3, 3 = 91 (24d6)

Rolled 4, 5, 3, 6, 4, 6, 5, 5, 6, 1, 4, 1, 2, 5, 2, 6, 2, 1, 5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 5 = 96 (24d6)

>rolling for stats
>not just using point buy
There's a reason why the Adventurer's League mandates the use of point buy, and it's not just the "I rolled 4 18s, honest" guys. It's also the fact that it can easily break the game's balance assumptions in both directions, and result in characters that are both overly strong, as well as overly weak.

But sure, rolling.

>17 STR
>13 DEX
>14 CON
>14 INT
>11 WIS
>8 CHA

Perfect. No better stats could be had. I would have to try and convince the DM to let me got Favored Soul v1

Sure, it's valid complaint. unless you see someone throw down an all-13's character(it was wild) or something, no way to verify.
Standard array is also pretty munchkin-proof.

For the purpose of this situation, it's just a way to randomize your stats without them being complete trash

Strength: 4+5+6=15
Dexterity: 6+5+5=16
Constitution: 6+1+4=11
Intelligence: 2+5+6=13
Wisdom: 2+5+3=10
Charisma: 5+6+5=16

See, this is the sort of thing I was talking about. 2 16s, a 15, and no scores below 10; the 16s alone make this character overpowered if Dex or Cha are your primary stats, and you pick a race that gives you a +2 bonus to either.

What I think I'd do with these is play a Half-Elf Hexblade Bladelock, and put my racial flex points into Intelligence and Constitution, giving me Str 15, Dex 16, Con 12, Int 14, Wis 10, Cha 18.

Rolled 2 (1d12)

Rolled 1, 3, 6, 1, 3, 5, 5, 4, 5, 3, 5, 5, 4, 4, 3, 1, 1, 1, 3, 2, 5, 6, 6, 6 = 88 (24d6)

not if you randomly rolled into a wizard or a cleric

>Colville method
like fuck it is his method, it was first used by Gary fucking Gygax you mongoloid pleb

The Colville method just means rerolling until you have two stats with 15 or more.

1+3+6+1-1= STR 10
3+5+5+4-3= DEX 14
5+3+5+5-3= CON 15
4+4+3+1-1= INT 11
1+1+3+2-1= WIS 6
5+6+6+6-5= CHA 18
Yeah buddy. I was all set up to post something like "this is why the editions that made you roll told you to pick class after rolling stats.", but that works out.

And doing it in order, the AD&D version lets you freely assign the stats.

Lets see the class.

Rolled 12 (1d12)

That's wierd... try again I guess.

Rolled 1, 3, 2, 3, 5, 3, 5, 2, 3, 1, 4, 6, 1, 6, 4, 1, 5, 3, 6, 4, 3, 5, 5, 6 = 87 (24d6)

Ok, Wizards are cool and I've never played one before.

Str: 8
Dex: 13
Con: 13
Int: 11
Wis: 15
Cha: 16

Not ideal but I like a high wis and cha.

>+0 CHA
>5 INT
neat, guess it's time to make some BAD BUILDS
Probably would make a Firbolg College of Swords Bard. Grab some spells that don't rely on my Charisma.

Rolled 6 (1d12)

Class

Rolled 1, 4, 6, 5, 3, 6, 1, 4, 3, 1, 6, 2, 5, 2, 3, 5, 4, 5, 1, 1, 2, 1, 6, 6 = 83 (24d6)

stats

str 15 dex 13 con 9 int 13 wis 8 cha 14
It's fine, but low wis monks are boring. Suppose I'll take some sort of wisdom boosting race and just have an okay but unexciting character.

you're a fighting game character in training. You've got some decent muscles, but you weren't exactly born for it.

Which is why any sane DM will require stats to be rolled at the table.

I don't even allow people to bring already made sheets, everyone is given blank sheets and we quickly roll up characters there

Rolled 1 (1d12)

I am curious.

Rolled 5, 2, 3, 1, 5, 4, 3, 5, 3, 4, 6, 3, 2, 1, 2, 5, 3, 6, 1, 1, 2, 4, 2, 5 = 78 (24d6)

Barbarian it is then.

Str: 10 (ugh)
Dex: 14
Con: 13
Int: 9 (fits the character theme i suppose)
Wis: 10
Cha: 11

And it's a restart.

Rolled 5 (1d12)

Okay, although I think rolling for class first is stupid. Either choose the class for your rolled stats or assign the numbers you roll to appropriate stats for your rolled class.

I, however, can see the appeal of playing a flawed character like that occasionally.

Rolled 3, 5, 4, 6, 1, 1, 4, 6, 2, 5, 4, 6, 3, 1, 6, 3, 6, 3, 2, 2, 6, 1, 1, 2 = 83 (24d6)

>Restart if you don't have at least two 15's.
Doesn’t this make for significantly more powerful characters than normal? Standard array is based on the average result for 4d6d1, and it has one 15 and one 14.

Str 15, Dex 11, Con 15, Int 12, Wis 11, CHA 9.
Pretty good for a fighter.

Makes an interesting character, just not necessarily a very adept one.

It's to balance out the fact that you're probably not gonna be very suited for the line of work you're in.

Rolled 11 + 24 (1d12 + 24)

Okay, sure

Rolled 4, 5, 6, 2, 2, 6, 5, 5, 3, 5, 3, 4, 3, 5, 2, 1, 4, 3, 3, 3, 3, 5, 2, 4 = 88 (24d6)

>Warlock
>Str 15
>Dex 16
>Con 12
>Int 10
>Wis 10
>Cha 10
I was never so smart as to think that I could take on the world. Strong, sure, but brains and charm I outsource.

Rolled 6 (1d12)

What's behind door number 1!

Rolled 5, 1, 5, 5, 6, 3, 5, 6, 5, 3, 6, 6, 2, 6, 5, 4, 1, 6, 6, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3 = 97 (24d6)

I already hate this...

Str: 15
Dex: 17
Con: 17
Int: 15
Wis: 13
Cha: 8

Good stats but not into monks so... anyone wanna trade?

So Colville only uses random class when he uses thi method?

Lets roll dice+1d12

Rolled 4, 3 = 7 (2d6)

I fucked up

Rolled 7 (1d12)

And once more

This link is already in the 5e general you stupid faggot, stop shilling your shit game everywhere

Rolled 9 (1d12)

Class

Rolled 6, 2, 2, 1, 4, 5, 1, 5, 1, 3, 6, 6, 4, 1, 4, 5, 2, 4, 5, 2, 2, 1, 3, 1 = 76 (24d6)

Stats

Rolled 5, 6, 2, 1, 1, 4, 3, 2, 2, 5, 4, 1, 4, 4, 3, 1, 2, 2, 2, 6, 3, 6, 1, 2 = 72 (24d6)

10 14 15 13 11 6

So I reroll

Rolled 5, 5, 1, 2, 2, 6, 5, 5, 2, 6, 4, 6, 6, 5, 3, 2, 6, 4, 6, 4, 5, 6, 5, 5 = 106 (24d6)

13 9 11 11 10 11

And again

12 16 16 14 16 17

So pretty great for a Rogue ultimately, but random stat gen definitely works better for editions less dependent on modifiers.

Rolled 4 (1d12)

Alright

Rolled 1, 4, 2, 4, 1, 4, 1, 6, 3, 1, 6, 1, 3, 5, 2, 3, 6, 3, 4, 6, 5, 3, 6, 4 = 84 (24d6)

Druid huh? Not my favorite class, but, so be it.

Rolled 4, 5, 6, 1, 3, 1, 3, 5, 4, 6, 1, 2, 4, 1, 1, 3, 6, 2, 1, 6, 6, 2, 2, 2 = 77 (24d6)

Hm, rerollan.

Fuck, check 'em faggots.

1st stat rolled is Str, 2nd rolled is Dex, so on for on for Con, Int, Wis, Cha

> Str: 16
> Dex: 12
> Con: 13
> Int: 9
> Wis: 15
> Cha: 12

Decent stats, could be worse.

>Warlock
>Str: 12
>Dex: 10
>Con:12
>Int: 13
>Wis: 16
>Cha: 18
Might be interesting. Will honestly consider this as a possible character.

Rolling is bad enough, rolling in order is just taking away a player's ability to choose what they want to play.

Rollibg for class on top of that is just asking for a shit time.

I like the method, but I believe in allocating the points myself among the six stats and choosing my own class. While relying on dice entirely forces you to be creative with RP, I personally enjoy picking what I want and allocating the stats I've rolled for accordingly.
