How do you deal with them?

I'll repost it here:
My players just destroyed a few billion in AAA subsidiary assets and got caught on camera, and escaped HTR because I fucked up the vehicle armor rule. How can I stop being such a shit GM?

>How do you deal with them?
>How do you use them?
Are you familiar with the x-com term for rookies, 'tactical ablative armour'?

Like that, while disguised as other runner teams.

Have you read the Hayek sheets?

Yeah, I still forgot how armor worked with vehicles (DV below Armor rating = 0 Damage).

How long ago is the session?
You can basically:
>Rewind to before that and correct the mistake
>make the characters get the Wanted Quality
>kill them off
>[options I can't think of currently]

Last Friday.

Was it planned or a string of coincidences that led to all that?

Planned. They bought Rating 25 explosives and placed them on structural supports in the lower levels of a corporate shipping facility.

I want to port this species to Shadowrun 5e. How would I go about doing this?

Changelings, run faster book.

Kill yourself.

More seriously, just use Surge at character gen with balance tail, celerity, pelage, etc.

Then those are some forward thinkers you have there

Ok thanks and for your info I am not a furry. I just like their designs is all.

Forward thinkers, but they managed to collapse about half this total complex. I would think Ares would be pissed off, especially since one of them got caught on camera executing a security guard on his knees.

You get in, you get out, maybe do some damage, the company probably won't bother tracking you down unless what you've got will require a long time to hand off. They know the score.

You kill bob the loveable accountant who bakes (badly) for everyone and execute Sam, the surly veteran security guard who took a bullet for shirly in accounting because "It's just my job" two years ago, they have to find you or take a massive hit to their reputation. Wanted quality for them.

Wanted(50k) or (75k) for everyone
All of them get two points of Street Cred and 5 points of Public Awareness
Have Firewatch teams be following every step of them for the next month
Have them be known as the Decked-out Dock Destroyers

You ain't foolin' anyone pal, certainly not your players.

I'd honestly be surprised if there isn't a canon incident of a bunraku doll being made into an animal-like being for furries to fuck. Child porn is an acknowledged part of the setting's seedy take on sex work, why not bestiality?

>bestiality
you mean orc and troll porn?

Fuck off cunt

Whoa hostile. Haven't heard an elf say that yet omae? Stay away from the Tir Nations if you can't handle a few "troggs" thrown your way either.

Reading through everything, it was completely planned from the start of course.
An Ares suit is currently tackling his rival in the break room because that fuck just wiped all the video from that incident to make him look bad.

Except it still exists in a remote upload site manned by three guys and a dog named Rufus. Both suits want that fucking data badly. They're willing to pay more than average for a crash and snatch job.

Dual wielding at all salvageable?

Like most things in SR, unless you go full ham on it you don't even need to try.
Dual wielding is still the more practical form of multiple attacks.
get an dicepool of 18 with 9 agility, 6 ranks in pistols, focus in your favourite type of pistol and reflex recorder.
Now put a smartlink in each pistol and get the brand loyality quality.
Not your pool for one pistol is 18/2+2(smartlink)+(1 brand loyality)=12
which is the pool size you should have at least to call something your profession.

Except don't dice pool modifiers apply before splitting? So all the boosts are largely moot.

tHATS NOT HOW THAT WORKS, sorry, thats not now that works. You make the pool then split, all modifiers go in pre-split unfortunately.

If you are looking for dual wielding that works, the closest you can get is smgs and full auto, if you can make their dodge pool low enough then your shitty attack pool doesn't matter as much. of course even then the damage will be mediocre, but hey, that's just a good excuse to cheese the fuck out of your pools.

youtube.com/watch?v=iO7MKx5UkJs
Eh, you are right chummer.
So what remains is either over focusing and getting a 20+dice pool.
Or whipping out remington room sweepers with as much spread as needed and firing three round bursts, still needs a 16+something pool to matter

Actually, dual-wielding shotguns sounds like it might a good idea, it's a similar principle to using a full-auto shotgun. Put as many rounds downrange as you can without care and inflict mass cones of defense penalties for anyone who doesn't GTFO.

How do I make bows viable as a primary weapon in 5e? I've been wanting to make some kind of Scythian inspired Hobgoblin horse (see also: motorcycle) archer but it seems pretty difficult to get bows up to snuff for damage. Do I go adept or ware? Is it always gonna be a handicap?

Enjoy being required to pump 10 Strength to be relevant.

Be a Troll

Since you're already going to pump your Strength to the max in order to have any hop of being relevant, it also isn't a terrible idea to try Nartaki. Since you end up with a boatload of Str, you can actually make use of it to carry a shield or what-have-you without having to worry about Encumbrance.

Yeah, but then you have to justify playing a Nartaki.

Or maybe just surge with an extra pair of arms to play an Not!-Nartaki.
Or have an GM who isn't a complete stick who let's you buy additional cyberarms in a world where there's a lag free interface that allows for real time translation between any possible body, be it robot spider, a kraken or any goddamn animal, and human brain impulses, talking about the rigger interface of course.

>letting a player get addition cyberarms
>not instead arbitrarily limiting them to being able to get horse-bodies or snake-bodies on their lower half while but not extra cyberarms
REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

You want to sign up with Runnerhub? Everyone I refer gets a free commlink. Don't mention it to anyone, though, they don't like being connected to the chans. Null sweat, chum.

Retarded CGL dumbfuckery

I still wonder about that
Whats the difference between a surged human with shiva arms and striking skin pigmentation and nartaki?
Or surged ork and ogre?
Or surged elf and dryad?

>Whats the difference between a surged human with shiva arms and striking skin pigmentation and nartaki?
One is a stable metavariant. The other is an unstable and damaged metagenetic expression.

So, since nobody seemed to have that new SR enhanced Fiction, i gave in and bought it myself.

And damn do i wish i had this book available at chargen.
The Incendiary Rockets are hilarious and even chargen legal.

At least i can sooth myself with those beautiful Stick-n-Shock flechettes

The molotov Cocktails are also pretty rad.

Wait. What? There's incendiary rockets?

Oy, krauts. What's this thing do? Does it have a price and stats in the German Rigger 5 book? It seems to have been left out of the English version.
Yeah, Seattle Gauntlet added some shit for Halloweeners. Stats are in Chummer.

Probably, I'll check after eating. Munching olives and i don't want to soil the books.

Can someone give a nigga the list of books where I can find the gun mods for 5E? I'm trying to minmax a good gun for a shit stats but wealthy runner.

Just check the chummer for that. Besides the Core book, most are in Run&Gun and Hard Targets

Both the Horizon-Doble Revolution and the Entertainment Systems Cylops come stock with it.

Finding it remarkably hard to come up with a decent name for a Japanese Infiltrator/Archer for a Shadowrun 4e game. So far I'm leaning Daikyu or Yumi (The latter having the stealth advantage that someone overhearing it in the street could easily think it's just her name)

Pics?

I did a bit of research prior to posting but I was wondering, do anyone know of a program where you can simulate the hacking process for a hacker? I recall finding such program around the end of the 90s beginning of 00s but I never could find it back. The graphic were basic but you could design a network, add firewall and put the stat in of your hacker so he actually had to play around in a graphic interface to do his job.

If anyone recall that program or know of something that do the same thing, please let me know.

have extra pair of arms with each one having a cybergun arm

no, I do not have that.
I have this though.

What's dumbfucky about that? Makes complete sense to me.

OY VEY RELEASE THE HOUNDS OF WAR

It would make sense in a world of Oceans Eleven or such

It makes abso-fucking-lutely no sense in a world where human resources are just numbers and you have a gazillion people just lining up to take the low-pay jobs that just got vacant. If they killed some high-profile scientists, sure, this could maybe rustle some corp-jimmies enough to warrant the expenditure of additional Nu-Shekels.

Some fucking pencilpusher?
Nobody of relevance and influence cares, its fucking cyberpunk.
Don't even need to communicate his death.
He is gone and somebody else is there, end of story.
Typical CGL dumbfuckery of people who want magic mirrorshades fairyshit instead of dystopian Cyberpunk and try to enforce their favourite playstyle with a rocket powered osmium mace against all ingame history and logic.

What does CGL Mean?

>Catalyst gaming labs, the fucknuts behind SR5 and most of 4

I'm new to SR and I started at 5, how much better were the older editions by comparison?

Oh fuck off you mad af murderhobo. Cgl may suck but not for those reasons. Killing off employees looks bad for business and lowers productivity of the entire building knowing shadowrunners can break in and kill employees without fear of repercussion.

they were always full of handwave shit like essence, but at one point the writers actually communicated with each other.

Nigger it's a fucking cyberpunk setting. Life doesn't have value.

I agree with your sentiment, but you are confused.
It is in real world idealism that life doesn't have value.
In cyberpunk, life is not worth much specifically because it DOES have a value. Down to the cent. You can price a person out per pound.

Shadowrun hasn't been full cyberpunk since 3e first of all. Magic is more important than ever, wireless matrix and enhanced focus on supernatural conspiracies add to it.

I'm operatorfagging as fuck you nigger, due to my runners having a moral conscience.

Just because i don't kill randoms for moral reasons doesn't mean it should and would have consequences in a cyberpunk setting

Idiot

>Killing off employees looks bad for business
You know what looks even worse?

Letting runners sod of with super expensive shit unharmed.
Yet its regularily done, for the same reason that will let you walk away without consequences if you kill some random schmock.

Sunk cost concept.
You don't throw money at negative-revenue projects to make them look less bad.
You cut your losses and call it a day.

Joe Schmuck gets replaced by Jack Schmuck, his widow gets a reminder that she can't talk about her husbands death because that would cut her off from the compensation she gets and everything is fine.

>You can price a person out per pound.

We already do this IRL.
Down to the cent and regularily updated.

Just because its Cyberpunk+X doesn't negate the inherent concepts of the settings.
Life is only worth as much as the nuyen it generates.

You don't send multi-millions worth of HTR fuckers after a bunch of killers that could potentially frag a few of them for the sake of a handful of nobodies who can replaced without any relevant business impact.

Actually I might.
That sort of thing is exactly why I have those dudes.
Especially because shadowrunners are exactly the kind of people who will open the locks on the bug spirits I'm keeping in the basement.

>That sort of thing is exactly why I have those dudes

>I'm putting my multimillion Assets at risk and off their normal job to waste time on avenging some random schmock, but not when my business is actually threatened by something relevant like them stealing prototypes, extracting high value targets and whatnot

Your post is stupid, both from an ingame and outgame perspective and a perfect example of powertripping GMs shoving their pet peeves into settings where it doesn't have any place

GM of the original issue here, they didn’t steal billions worth of shit, they brought down the equivalent of a UPS hub. Like, collapsed half the facility.

So building AI street sam and need check up on the rules
Step 1 is rising Depth to 6
Step 2: Pilot Origins 2 and Designer
Step 3: Get Direktionssekretar
Using the sekretar as home devices and optimization the pilot rating is boosted to 6 and it takes 1 slot to load myself on leaving 2 slots for autosofts.
Questions are:
Everything right so far?
Can the AI learn and use cyberprograms/autosofts on its own?
If the Pilot rating of the drone is already getting boosted to 6 and thus increasing the device rating is there a point to raising Depth to 6?

The Pilot rating is equal to your Depth.

Yo Chummers, quick question: From a fluff perspective what does Matrix infrastructure look like? If it's all wifi these days presumably it's all broadcast, and scattered around various cities one could find matrix aerials kind of like cell phone towers irl?

If you wanted to knock out communications to a given area for a short period of time would it be as simple as hitting one big piece of infrastructure, or is it more distributed and redundant?

I know this could come under GM fiat, but I was wondering what the background material has to say, if anything.

This.

Don't forget to put Agility Boosts into your Arms.
One of your software slots should be spend on the equivalent of Smartlink

>Can the AI learn and use cyberprograms/autosofts on its own?

The text is a bit wonky and ambigous.
It calls for AIs weaving their own advanced programs and paying them with Karma.

Undisputable Fact: There is no rulestext on how to handle software with levels (that is, normal software).
I interpret it that you have to "weave" your advanced programs and pay them with Karma, but you can buy normal ones just fine with Nuyen.

The other AI-Sam user here is reading it as "you have to also weave the normal progs and pay them with Karma, but get them at a level equal to your depth".
I'm not following his train of reason, but your milleage may vary. IMHO the first approach requires less handling of the rules (pure RAW its sadly contradicting itself, so you sorta need to talk to your GM anyways), but mechanically speaking, both options have their merits.

Another thing you need to talk with your GM is if you have to spend one complex action per combat round on a "pilot vehicle" action or not.

Also do not forget to hardwire a Multidemensional Coprocessor to your Drone so you get another D6 for matrix Actions (which rigging is).

meant for
This would be something that COULD be worth the risk of tracking down the runners. At least if the UPS Hub wasn't properly insured and something of high worth disappeared.
On the other hand its a neat way of covering up a theft by the players, albeit a bit brutal.

>From a fluff perspective what does Matrix infrastructure look like?
It's poorly realized. Sometimes it's like networked computing, sometimes it's a grid, sometimes it's literally magic with machine-spirits running around in there. The writers have no idea what they're doing.

Go to data trails, read about the foundation, have the usual aneurysm trying to make sense of it, realize that you could write better matrix lore, then write your own matrix lore for your own game.

Boku no pico.

Thanks
Also any way to boost survivability?
Armor Jacket + Mask + PPP gets me to 16 armor which will ignore small arms fire but i'm worried about AR and APDS
Also 5 INT + 6 Reaction(Assuming Reaction= Device Raiting) doesn't make great dodge pool
Wonder about dropping Pilot Origins a level to have enough space for Agile Defender and always go on Full Defense

>Agile Defender
Could be an option, but 6 additional Dice is still not great.
A thing you could do would be grabbing a shield (maybe the Ares Briefcase one or the flashshield if your STR allows, for additional negative modifiers for your enemies) and a one-handed weapon. If your GM allows SMGs one handed, there are a few good choices there, else go for a tricked-out Savalette for burst fire.
Longbarrel, electronic firing, gas vent, the advanced smartgun thing that reduces range categories by one, extended magazines and a reloading rail.
Also liberal use of smoke grenades

Speaking of, I suppose it'd be a great thread topic and I might as well hijack it to this one.

>What's your matrix look like?
>What's the infrastructure like?
>What's it look like from the inside?
>What, if any, houserules do you apply?
Is it a wired network that looks like a Gibsonian geometric city when you're cracking ICE? Are there floating wireless hubs visible in the skies of your Sprawls providing access to the wireless network and making a helluvah target to physically tamper with?

>What, if any, houserules do you apply?
EotM

Would you like to share with the class, or just spit out four cryptic letters?

End of the Matrix, some housrules made for 4e by Trollmann, one of the Grognards at Dumpshock

t. another Chummer

Ends of the Matrix, houserules made by a former freelancer at CGL (who also made customizable cyberlimbs)
tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=48836

Yeah that figures what with CGL being a big sack of dildos.
I'll go take a peek at data trails and work from there, thanks!

Jesus, that's intensive. What's the tl;dr?

Even though it was made for 4E, figure it'd still work for 5E? Looks like it's a complete set of replacement rules to be slotted into the game in place the standard ones rather than hotfixes, so I reckon that given the mild differences between 4 and 5, it ought to be relatively system agnostic?

You roll LOG+Skill to use programs, Program rating limits hits. For skills you roll one of (Computer, Data Search, Cybercombat, Hacking, EWAR), depending on program category. With a LOG+Software roll you can improve your program rating temporarily.

Response is how fast your commlink is, adds to your VR initiative and limits how much you can improve programs
System is how stable it is, Limits your program rating and determines your Matrix CM
Signal is how far you can send coherent signals
Firewall is how well you can defend yourself.
Background reduces your signal.

AR initiative is INT+REA with 1IP, VR initiative is INT+REA+RESP with 3 IP
Programs are in one of 5 categories that determine which Skill you use, have a Time (from SA up), Range(they in your signal range/you in theirs/both/both and connected/through the Matrix) and Type(affect Biological systems, matrix systems or both).
Most things can be done in multiple ways and with different programs, so read through their descriptions.
There is some equipment (~15 items).

For TMs: They have three extra skills, one extra attribute, roll RES+Skill, instead of programs they use Complex forms (but each normal program has a CF), their Attributes determine matrix Attributes, can affect all things in Signal range as if they were connected, can summon matrix beings and have some special CFs.

That's the crunch part at least

also there's this pdf form for it

>idk, i only read about it, never used it.
Trollmann struck me as to much of an assblasted grognard to bother because frankly the matrix in Shadowrun is alright as it is.

If you want a quick and dirty fix for SR5:

You can hack devices by going over a simple success threshold, which is the same as the Device level of the thing you want to hack.

You are beyond fucked in the head

>t. CGL

Butthurt Grognards detected

Go play some 4e and grab a free comlink on the way out

Is there some way I can attach a rigger control interface to a smart firing platform? I want to have an assault cannon turret controlled by a rigger, but it's too big to fit as a weapon mount on anything less than a huge drone.

>frankly the matrix in Shadowrun is alright as it is.

the matrix is as fine as the bindings on the books

I have krautbooks, my binding is excellent and i pay half the price you do while getting additional content

ヽ(´ー`)ノ

>I have krautbooks, my binding is excellent and i pay half the price you do while getting additional content
>ヽ(´ー`)ノ

you pay half of ¥0?
ヽ(´ー`)ノ

(not him but)

>10 bucks for softcover
>20 for larger hardcover
>CGL not responsible for printing, it's pegasus
>more and up-to-date content

I wouldn't have bought an actual hardcover copy of the books but it's just a bargain at this point. The version of the core I hold in my hand right now was printed this year and has all errata + more fixes already build in.

4e Question!

I'm building a Mage, and for reasons, I have ended up getting a .1 essence ding in chargen. Since I'm already down a magic point, I figure I might as well get some 'ware to drop myself down to the next full essence point.

What's good for a mage? Cyber-eyes are the classic for spell-sniping, and I was thinking of a sleep regulator, but what else is a decent pickup?
