pick a main colour for the model then work out a good second colour then decide where to add the second colour for the best impact, usually get inspiration by looking at existing schemes)

What's the optimal loadout for Tartaros Termies? I'm guessing all LCs or all shooty with the autocannon? I know they are pretty bad but I like their look.

GK babies complain they can't field 20 Terminators VS 150 troopers and win.

I'd call it 'a dreadful loss' personally. And probably use other Dreads. I'll see if I can find pics of a battle-damaged Dread or a wreck for the last pannel

No Idea how it would work on custodes, but my recipe for gold is:

>Agrax Earthshade
>Auric Armour Gold highlight
>Runefang Steel very fine highlight on the most visible edges

New GUO with bell seems memes. On a 4+ each turn, add a model to a Nurgle Daemon unit. This means beasts, drones and potentially Death Guard Blight Haulers.

I'm going to enter a tournament with this list and you can't stop me.

Retributor>reikland>Auric layer>runefang highlight is the WHTV way. Close to yours
I find Agrax over Retributor yields a nice warm gold
I've also tried seraphim>nuln>seraphim
Next maybe replace the wash with a glaze mix using light blue

That was the 2 builds I was contemplating as well. Seems like they'll be better than LC Assault Termies with the melee build (better movement and a ranged attack on the sarge with the harness), while they wouldn't be so different from classic Termies in the ranged build (the plasma blaster being the difference, and I'm not sure if the gun is worth its price yet)

Whirlwinds are actually mint in this edition mate. Is there a pesky blobs of Orks sitting on an objective out of sight across the table? Unleash 2D6 S6 shots on its ass every turn until it's fucking gone. Bring two or three at once, they're only 100pts each and they provide some serious harassment ability.

6 units of sky-slashers with spinemaws, to fill the army allowing the big bugs to deep strike, for optimum annoyance, and for grabbing objectives while your opponent deals with the 1600 points of bugs at his doorstep. Your opponent blow them away first turn? Good for them, they killed some bees.

I think this would be very fun to play and potentially ruin some friendships.

Why would I bother running Cataphractii armor or Tartaros armor in a Deathwing list?

Honest answer would be that SM can't do anything that IG won't do more efficiently.

Having read all three I like tyranids the most but the CSM codex is pretty good.
There was a really good story from the perspective of a chaos cultist explaining why they’re so willing to be meat shields.

It's not really about either of your factions. It's about melee being shit this edition in general. If blood angels can't dominate the game with all tools they got, nothing will save melee.
Nids don't have that problem since they have tons of shooty options.

Do Guard have a lot of deepstriking, fast units?
I would use jump pack HQs and Vanguard Veterans, and maybe an anti-tank unit in a drop-pod/flyer if you really want to commit with this theme.

Guard have scions, which are cheaper and can be taken as troops to get lots of CP. They also have their own strong flyers and more efficient vehicles.
Only thing SM have that's not covered are terminators and those aren't great this edition.

Scout sentinels fucked my plans up in my last game. They took out my 2 forward geanstealer nodes on turn one, keeping them out of combat long enough to get blasted off the board.

Who says you have to pay points, this is adding models to those who have lost one.

It's why we end up with CSM and AM having very similar send in the next wave mechanics but it being free for Chaos since you use it on a still living unit.

Russes are fucked by melee units. Dreads can hit back at things like carnies.

They now reroll charges and are also getting extra hits on 6's. That plus Deepstrike them for 2CP makes me really happy I have 3 of them.
Plus big axe dude now has 2nd weapon profile with double the attacks.
Plus relic for 4++ and deny.
