Infinity General: Two Hander Edition

Well yeah, that's just a waste. Those guns aren't actually that good when you take away their high burst, coordinated orders are where low burst guns like missiles, rockets and snipers can shine. Not to mention shotguns, direct templates, utility weapons (ADHLs, E/Mitters, etc.) or even grenades for short range. The spearhead can benefit from having a good ol' HMG since most burst 3 weapons have limited range, but the rest of the coord crew having them just risks your non-coordinated attack pieces unnecessarily.

It was more about moving several threats upfield at once. I haven't fully grasped how to use coordinated orders effectively yet.

Probably should have gone more conventional and just fielded a damn TAG. That's what you get for trying to be creative in PanO.

Coordinated orders are still worth using and investigating. Not the best for every situation, but still a valuable tool to have. And PanO may lack the equipment for proper fake outs and mindgames, but that just makes the unconventional shit you are capable of extra important.

Coordinated supp fire is nice and reliable though, even if you're not confident in using coorders for attacks they're highly valuable for setting up a defensive base.

how do you play durning the day when it is just you. now am as socially adapt as any other autist, but even I know, that if you start playing vs yourself or talk to yourself, people may do many things, but starting to be interested in what you are doing is not one of those things.

On Infinity RPG, who are the PCs and what/who are they generally working for?

I think by default they're O-12 operatives defusing critical situations, but you can make the group around anything you fancy, like mercenaries etc.

By default they're Bureau Noir agents, but there's nothing stopping you making them all Black Hand or Hexahedron or Treitak agents, or even a gang of Atek street rats or something.

Can you deploy AD troopers via coordinated orders?

Technically yes, but the only purpose it serves is to fuck with AROs. Orders of undeployed AD troops are only usable for deploying them, so you have to spend a command token and an order from the pool and the orders from the AD units are nullified.
It's a shame, it stops you from using those ridiculous AVA values that AD troops tend to get.

There's the Dogfaces, who are the children of pregnant women who were bitten by Antipodes, and their infertile halfbreed kids the Wulvers. They might count.

Beyond that there's hardcore genetic manipulation going on with the Nomads, but that's done on a person-by-person basis. Examples there are the Morlocks and Uberfallkommandos. Everyone else has similar things going on, but it's much more low-key and more about making super soldiers than a new subspecies.

It isn't really desu. Just put it in the list, that sexy MULTI rifle profile isn't exactly lacking in uses. Camo roasting, doorkicking, deadly midfield supp fire, it's a damn fine toolbox to start so far up the board. The big 50 point HI I can see being hard to fit in, but some 30 point dude is pretty easy to build around.

The Ava on CB unfortunately isn't 10. Maybe for the next edition they will fix this.

Also considered getting into Infinity since its a smaller budget to deal with than Warhammer and my friend isnt looking to spend alot to play alongside me. Any tips for someone who has no fucking clue what this game is?

Thats an hassassin Ayyar. Part of space islam and one of the more optimized units in the game. I suggest looking at the corvus belli youtube channel for the bare bones basics and then check out some battle reports; the links in the op are pretty good for that.

The rules are free, army builder is free, so all you need are minis and terrain. There are 2 starter sets for 2 players, operation icestorm and operation red veil. Ice is nomads vs pano; mexicans and Veeky Forums vs australia and india. Red veil is haqqislam vs yu jing; space islam vs space china. Both sets have cardboard terrain though rv is a bit better as it is newer. Both sets take you thru very basic game rounds to ease you into the game by introducing new abilities and concepts.

The game is very well balanced. Every army is quite flexible (outdated ones not so much, but they're getting a facelift later this year) so just play what you like, esthetically and playstyle wise

There's Nomad biomodded troops (Morlocks and Uberfallkommando), ALEPH's artificial humans (including one mind controlling up to 3 bodies trooper), Ariadna's Dog-Faces and Wulvers and Tarik 'Big Dick' Mansuri who is basically Captain Islam type super-soldier. Khawarij are also super-soldiers, but not to the same extent as Tarik.

About how much is one looking to spend on average to start a squad up of something that isn't in a starter set? I've always heard about 100-120 bucks but that's just off-handed info

If you like Ayyar and want to play with a friend, convince him to split Operation: Red Veil with him and take the Haqqislam part. This set is a two-player tutorial.

It's a very dynamic skirmish game in which it's always "your turn", as basically everyone is always on overwatch. So stuff like flanking, using smoke screens etc. is important, as well as managing range bands (like sneaking a camo trooper with a shotgun close to a sniper to get a +6 mod while he gets -3 and the like).

They sell tournament-ready lists (300 points) for around 80€

Army mixing is pretty unheard of with rare exceptions.

Some armies have models from other factions (especially certain sectorials). The new Mercenary faction even more so, although you can't freely mix every army and availability differs in every faction

Feels bad man. I've been able to play seriously just once. My friends tried it and decided it's too complex and expensive. I basically had to provide minis for everyone. Spent at least $200. Now I have no one to play with.

Tried that. Everyone lives closer to Detroit and plays there. Even asked about people in my city, no responses besides someone mentioning an intro game in Battle Creek that I did end up going to. But all the players came from further away and there were only three people.

Good advice though, two people playing could at least draw in some people. Specially if the models look nice.

Man it must be awesome. I have a 300 nomad army, a 450 steel phalanx one and redveil+beyond. And no one to play with. What is stranger, I suck at painting so its not like I have all of this, because I like the models.

Well, shoot. I haven't played yet but I have had fun with the character creator.

Favorite so far is a guy named Faux. He's a Yu Jing born hacker whose past 8 years have been an Bureau Toth Agent after his gheist transformed into, apparently, an Aspect of ALEPH (I've yet to actually learn what this means). I had also rolled that he is constantly being followed by something. I'd like to see it be something rather funny like his waifu. I'd like to think that he learned 'hacking' as more of a game modder/pirate, which maybe caught the attention of ALEPH. I don't know haha. Do what you want.

He's also a pretty good marksman and a decent pilot. Growing up poor, he had to be scrappy and got a knack for vehicles like bikes, if that helps.

When infiltrating with a unit, what should I be trying to do? Make life awkward for my opponent? (i.e. cover lanes with the heavy flamer he has?)

There is some cross faction polination of a few units but they are very specific. Pano/yujing get a few aleph units in their subfactions known as sectorials. A sectorial of hockeyslam, qapukalqi or wtf ever its spelled gets some nomad mercenaries. Thats about it so far and pretty much what to expect in the future. PO/YJ are joined at the hip to ALEPH(apparently very wide hips since the hyperpowers havent glassed each other into the stone age). Nomads and Haqq are cool with each other and as a big fuck you to the big boys were able to get space UN to make ariadna recognized as a real government. The tohaa are artichoke aliens and just invent new allies while the combined army had a backlog of species it can bring around if it needs to, discounting bit&kiss who are a highschool girl/robo duo that were awarded to the big bad aliens because of a big tournament winner.

Yeah that was my situation for quite a while. I ended up getting my brother in law into the game and for a long time it was just the two of us. Then I moved and got two other people into the game, then we found out there were like 3 other people that played at the game store near us that we're just always there on different days than us. We're still a small community, but that's all I really ask for.

Depends on the infiltrator. With the HFT Grunt it pays to take a few of them since inferior infiltration is a coin flip at best, but setting them up somewhere awkward where they're hard to outrange is always smart. Flamers don't really have the range to cover a lane, but inside a building or around a tight corner they're the most obnoxious fucks around. When some inevitably fail their infiltration roll you can just use them as backline defence, they're good at that too.

they usually have 6 minis and are balanced around 150 points, or you can just hog it up and buy a 300 pts starter
whatever army you wanna buy the 6 mini, 150 pts starter is usually good, after that you might only need to pick your faction-specific support pack, a specialist pack, and some REMs to be able to play 300 pts (and you will be able to climb from 150 to 200 as you go along, if your LGS's has a brain he/she/it will make sure low point games are available to bring and keep new players as their armies get swole)

also, there are those weirdos with the names of historic character who are kind of like synth clones or replicants or some shit, created by Aleph as goodwill ambassadors towards other factions

a coordinated order of chain rifles and shotguns (say, Kuang Shis, jaguars, volunteers, krakots) is actually pretty nasty shit
