RIX Spoilers

Wait, is that a feathered dinosaur?
Science finally broke through the thick dam of cliches? Dinosaurs will finally look like they are supposed to?

Google 'ixalan dinosaurs,' they all look like that, not for design decisions but for aesthetic choices.

all dinos in ixalan are feathered. However not all dinosaurs in reality were feathered.

Gonna have to run a joyous little Gishath dinosaur tribal EDH once it's out.
I know I can make one now but I'd rather have my full dinosaur options available.

Turbodepths BTFO

good merfolk card?

Reprints already? running low on ideas WotC?

Of course dinosaurs and merfolk got all the good cards.

On a distant plane, Doran the Siege Tower smiles

I love it. Really good lategame in limited for denying topdecks and pushing through.

...

>merfolk

Fuck are you talking about son? Dino got all the good shit. Pirates and Vamps have some nice stuff. Merfolk are still lost. It irritates me Dino got so many mythic slots for this set

2Cute

more reprints from last set

>what are they doin' reprinting dinosaurs in the only block that will have dinosaurs for a decade probably

>Merfolk didnt get anything
Dude, Modern is creaming their jeans at this set.

...

>ANOTHER 2 mana lord
>silvergill reprint
>2 drop that puts counters on merfolk when a merfolk enters the battlefield
>sweet mythic rare for casual or commander
>merfolk that draws cards when merfolk deal damage
>2 explores

The very next set is on a plane with Dinosaurs. (and Vampires and Merfolk and quite possibly a few pirates)

They also have Core sets

...

The 1 drop Merfolk needed?

Power creep is real!

...

How long till this gets keyworded?>Being a Merfolk is worth 1 tou

...

They did release better red creature removal.

If you are using dinos...

Dominaria had dinosaurs thousands of years ago. We haven't seen it for like 150 years in-universe, in the middle of an apocalypse. They can do whatever the hell they want with it now.

...

Ramanup can use this past turn 2 pretty effectively.

...

This is a smart reprint though, as otherwise nobody would pick this card in Pack 3.

Is Cage of Hands too strong for standard now? What the hell happened for that to come about?

...

...

True. But remember that was a literal time quake.

They could reprint say Fungusaur if they wanted.

...

Bad Pacifisms gave been being printed for a while.

Maybe they noticed it was too efficient removal for white even with the "downside"

A literally worse Coercion. Why Wizards of the Coast?

...

maybe its just me, but hasnt there been really low amounts of enchantment removal in the past few sets?

Especially when looking at limited?

...

That's one angry flower.

...

Why did they print this instead of using the dinosaur that did the same thing from the walker decks?

4 mana Murder that is a sorcery speed. Literally, what were they thinking?

...

This is going to be annoying in limited

...

>there's a creature with the same effect that's the same cost
What the fuck?

...

No we aren't, it's all a bunch of garbage.

So why is Shatter talked more than Smelt? Smelt costs 1 mana while Shatter is 2.

Weve been getting 5+ upside murders at common, this was the natural conclusion.

Murder warps limited at common.

What I would like to see is a black lava flow to take up the "4+ sorcery speed land kill" slot.

New card design methodology, targetted discard can't hit lands now. Although to be honest I think if this could hit lands you'd only do so less than 5% of the time.

That it's still a solid removal spell for Limited and it'll still get picked highly? Let's be honest, commons aren't really meant for Constructed play these days.

...

Smelt has one printing. Shatter has many.

...

> implying 12 lords.dec is a bad thing.

XLN block lets merfolk viablly not need anything past a 3 drop. Thats HUGE.

Smelt was aberrant in power, much like Flame Slash.

more reprints from the previous set

Tell that to Attune with Aether or Thraben Inspector

...

I believe there was only one enchantment removal in all of Amonkhet Block Forsake the Worldly, not counting Nissa’s Defeat which only took care of green enchantments.

Kaladesh Block had Creeping Mold, Decommission, and Appetite for the Unnatural.

Ixalan had Crushinf Canopy, Erase, and Slice in Twain.
So yeah, not a lot going on.

Pirates will play it on stormtamers and freebooters.

...

what the fuck. is this the first time a card was reprinted in the set immediately after the original printing? in the same block nonetheless.

...

Nice, brainstorm merfolk
inb4 this was the merfolk intended for legacy

quite a bit of cards like that in this set

What is Fragmentize?

Tron is happy about blood sun though

...

...

For what reason tho?

A card I forgot.

...

He can board me anytime~

no idea

...

>implying the new """lord""" is better than merrow
>implying that forcing the deck into a strict mana base with fetches/shocks is good (and it has already been proven by u/g merfolk how shit shocks are in the deck)
>for a """lord""" without islandwalk
>making u/g merfolk even worse against blood moon decks

And on top of that, it has not slots, it's not better than either silvegill adept or merfolk branchwalker.

It's a good card for standard, terrible for modern.

...

...

FOR.WHAT.PURPOSE

...

you forgot green dino, and blue pirate

...

What an absolute shitshow of a set

So like a Shiba Inu?
