Epic 30k & 40k General

1st and only rule: don't post caster/recaster information or material.

>Where do I get the rules?
Net Epic Armageddon rules and the updated army lists can be found at:
tp.net-armageddon.org/
It's based off of the Epic Armageddon rule set, otherwise known as Epic 4th Ed, with some minor changes and new army lists.

>Well that's 40k, what about the cool 30k stuff I see?
The Horus Heresy supplement can be found here.
epicau.com/mw/index.php/Main_Page

>Where do I get those fan made minis that show up everywhere?
You go on any of the Facebook groups for Epic and lurk. If you can you should try and get your own epic army and post updates and ask for ideas about how to paint them. Eventually after you've gained some trust on there you could try and either PM someone you know has forumware or post and ask about it. You could also try posting on the Tactical Command forum. Asking outright as your first message in any of these places will get you ignored.

>Where else can I get miniatures?
There is a lot of old epic stuff on Ebay and some manufacturers produce good proxies, like vanguardminiatures.co.uk/ and www.onslaughtminis.com.

>What's the game like?
Players alternate using parts of their armies called formations rather than moving and fighting with their entire force. Morale and fatigue is represented by giving “Blast Markers” to a formation when something bad happens to it, which gradually makes it less effective and stops more and more units in the formation from acting until they rally. The scale makes units with longer range weapons or high movement speed stand out more, makes maneuvering more important and allows for the use of many units that are super heavy or above in Warhammer 40k such as Baneblades, Stompas, Titans and even Mega Gargants. While still keeping regular tanks and infantry relevant and effective. The new 30k stuff is also great, though development is apparently dead.

Bump

Don't you fags have your little sekrit club fag forum to fuck off to?

And why would you bump after 1 minute?

Typical; the best game GW ever made and you scorn it.

You people chose to segregate yourself. Don't come crawling back.

>MFW I cant tell if this is low quality bait, or some autist throwing a fit

>possibly both

>You guys can't come to MY board and make your own thread to discuss your hobby

I don't care one way or another for Epic but it's cool they want to talk about it. I've never really seen it discussed here.

Kill yourself.

getting some time in tonight before big hospice stuff tomorrow, cranking out half my infantry

Looking good user, I'm waiting for my bases to get here before I even start painting them.

How do I paint night lord infantry

simply kantor blue, leadbelcher, and red for any cloth

...

do all epic minis look this bad close up or am I just shit?

It's such a small scale that perfection isn't what people usually strive for with it. Since usually you will be looking at them as tiny dots on the table. I think yours look good though user. Just make sure you base them, that's the more important thing as it will make the white and blue stand out.

was gonna base em on a martian iron earth base to mach the red sand of istvaan III

Eldar Falcon

6mm figures are hard, but also very, very easy. You aren't going for detail, you are going to bold colours in the "right places" to make it look detailed from a distance.

How's the balance between infantry, tanks and bigger war machines? Are you forced to take 1/3rd of each in your army to win or can you go full peon/tank company/titan legion without suffering too much?

Is there any guide about making terrain in 6mm?

We don't segregate; the only thing we don't do is share the recasters openly because spergs like you have a habit of spamming GW Legal with their contact details and getting them shut down.

You want to play Epic? Either buy the stuff on ebay, use a proxy or if you want a modern recaster, prove that you're not just in it to fanboy to GW and send them info.

Infantry will absolutely murder vehicles in Assault since you’ll typically outnumber them and have a better CC stat. I’m no expert on tactics in Epic but I don’t think you need 1/3 of each to be competitive. As long as you decide which Objectives you’re going to go after and don’t throw away too many Victory Points if the objectives don’t get taken you should be fine.

I think Studio Dropship had a pretty decent blog post on how he did his 6mm ruins. Granted you’ll need the plastic ruin sprues from Epic GW put out a while ago.

Took all of two posts for the buttmad autists to barge in and be assmad about a game that got support cut before they were born.

Reminder that if you want to play Epic, buy stuff of ebay and buy third party. It doesn't take much to show you are not a snitch and then you'll be swimming in forumware and recasts.

But the best game GW ever made was Oi! Dat's My Leg!

user the tipical game board in 6mm is 90*100?

my newest idea for when I get my other force for playing with my friends is trying to translate HH special deployments like Blood In The Void and Zone Mortalis to the 6mm level

Any rumours regarding when it's expected that the revival of Epic will be released?

nothing this open day sadly, theyre never beinging back epic, just titanicus. just bougut some truescake recasts so im not hungry for titan models so much as I am a huge rule set for them. it better be deep too, like a fucking legio furean titan deactivating its shields for a turn to get a boost in power it can use to increase it's speed. also have some centurions of the worls eaters

FW said repeatedly they’ve got no interested in bringing back Epic. Maybe a couple standalone games (Battle of Tallarn Tank Battles) at a smaller scale but that’s it. Honestly, GW will probably bring back LOTR’s Battle of the Five Armies first before bringing back Epic.

This.

In a just world we'd have Epic back, since it's not like GW/Forgeworld can't afford to support another full game. It's just supporting whole armies is not anywhere near as much of a cash-cow that endless Titan releases could be.

At this point, I wouldn’t want GW/FW touching Epic. The NE:A rules are pretty solid and other than a slew of lists in development limbo it’s got good variety armywise. GW would just change scale and slow drip releases like they’re doing with BB and Necromunda.

We should mass email FW telling them we want epic.

Why are you so fucking buttblasted?

>At this point, I wouldn’t want GW/FW touching Epic.

Seconded.

I ain't gonna go begging for a company to give me a reason to give them money.

>I wouldn’t want GW/FW touching Epic.

This 100% to be honest.

I just want FW to bring back the Hydra/Basilisk batteries so I've something to base my flyers with.

>GW would just change scale and slow drip releases like they’re doing with BB and Necromunda.
I would not mind a 10 or even 15mm Epic scale, but yeah, it would take 4+ years for any other army than Imperium to get a full release.

I havent found anything in the rules but i assume that infantry always comes in groups of 5, and that characters are kinda just upgrades to a pre-existing squad and not an extra model, right?

This game looks really cool!

Infantry come on stand, which have to have a minimum of 3 and a max of 7 actual models on it.

And depends on the character, but usually they just join one of the stands or vehicles in the formation and give them extra attacks + special rules. You are supposed to represent them either with a special model on the stand or a banner. But mainly this is just so you know which stand they are.

Rate my night lords so far

I haven't added the lightning yet

IMA ASK AGAIN ABOUT THE BLUE/BLACK CAMO MY DUDE THEY 10/10

oh cool, that really clears that up, thanks!

the NetEA black legion says that a reutine is "8 chaos space marines", which really threw me off, but 8 /stands/ of chaos marines makes a whole lot more sense

*retinue, dammit

Wish I could find a recaster. But apparently the only way to find one is to already play the game until people trust me? Noone around here sells this shit anymore so I'd be paying well over a thousand dollars for an army to be delivered overseas.

Shame it looks fun.

>... until people trust me?

This is the key bit, user. Not that you need to play the games, but that you're invested in their community enough to not go trailing off and ratting them out.

You could likely achieve that by starting a painting blog with some stuff you found off eBay and sharing it in one of their e-clubhouses for like a year with regular monthly updates.

the discord chat has whats called i think a "Savant" online system and an user who makes marker/ stand in stands of models to play over the computer if youd be into that

Other way in, if your l337 is to do up some of your own recasts and post about them in the same clubhouses. I know a guy who broke in to their underground that way.

It's Ultramarine Blue Army Painter as the base, with Leadbelcher for the metal bits and tracks. Then it's washed to hell with Nuln Oil. Hope that clears it up user.

Or should I say Internetflexing?

Are there any bfg communities still kicking about?

I want that generic space warrior's gun.

Epic is fun. This is the only tabletop wargame I even play.

Throw a wash on them and they’ll go from average to good. Detail work is kind of wasted at gaming distances.

EpiComp (painting competition, IP-legal minis only) is in the voting stage for TacComms members:
tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/viewforum.php?f=19&sid=e3acda8e2ff84c52e66ea9b1177e0b47

Trolls Under the Bridge is practically a recaster and they’re on eBay, though they can only help with Imperial Guard and a couple of Necron units.

They do marine tanks, too. Though bulk GW is actually cheaper. However, those are OG designs, whereas Trolls are based on modern designs.

a few. the specialist games forum is still going.

Example of the joy washes bring in this scale.

I thought it was common knowledge that you slather Devlan Mud on everything? Ancient Chinese Secret.

To be honest buying a handful of miniatures off ebay and casting your own is probably the cheapest and easiest way to make an Epic army anyway, other than making an IG army out of historicals.

It really is, but most people don't learn that when they first start out. And I personally prefer Nuln Oil and Agrax

Also anyone ever ran a successful Epic campaign? With or without battlefleet gothic added in.

>Also anyone ever ran a successful Epic campaign? With or without battlefleet gothic added in.

I'm planning on doing this with Planetary Empire tiles once my local group gets their stuff painted. So far I've got 3-4 players but only my Iron Hands and my friend's Ultramarines are fully painted. Honestly, I might see if some of the other players are willing to paint both a Loyalist and Traitor force since we seem to be all playing Loyalist armies at the moment. I'm thinking of doing an Iron Warriors army of mostly tacticals and artillery batteries. Pic is of my Iron Hands force.

Which recasters do Warmaster?

Literally people in their garages with casting equipment. If you don't already know them you probably won't be able to get them since they're such a small operation that they only cater to their gaming friends.

Besides, there are a ton of 3rd Party companies that sell 10mm specifically for Warmaster now.

You should be able to do a couple trial games by borrowing armies.
Heck, for my first tournament I asked them if they would allow cardboard cutouts since my army hadn't been delivered, and they lended me one.
Read the rules, don't be a sperg, and people will trust you.

In the end they teased me so much about it that I made rhinos and tacticals out of plastic card for joke games.

what model is this

You don't need recasters to start out. Plenty of good stuff on ebay and overground third party.

mfw washed arent that great on my world eaters because i have to heavily dry brush white back on leaving little to know shadow and flat white

hey were all friends here, no need to namefag lol

>Based vehicles

DIE, HERETIC!

>57320173
base your vehicles user

BASE THEM

Learn to post ref, newfriendo.

its from an older post I was going to make, but it checks out

The only times my vehicles get pointless bases are when I'm playing SiegeMasters and the dug out's included in the unit cost. Then I deploy my guns in a base. ;)

>tfw the shitty LGS in your city has a bunch of neat stuff but at completely ludicrous prices
I'm not going to pay 10 eurobucks for four eldar infantry stands or two jetbikes, or 30 for a shitty looking Ork gargant, especially not if some of it is broken and most of it is slathered in paint. Fuck that noise.
