Yes and no. When she was burnt to the point of disfigurment she was a nice girl, but became a bitch again as soon as she regenerated.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. It's contradictory, even.
Though I usually favor impossibly-colored eyes along with the dark hair, like Yumeko has.

Ironically they stand out among the sea of rainbow-colored unicorns that are anime girls, so they are the exception instead of the norm. They also usually have a more mature/serious personality, making them more attractive to the non-degenerates who don't sexualise children.

Because usually when a female character has a flamboyant, extravagant appearance, ie colorful hair and eyes or dress, usually have personalities to match, ie loud, energetic, in your face, and they also tend to act in ways that annoy or aggregate the viewer and perform less than intelligent actions. They are, more often than not, solely there for eye candy, rather than being a solid, well founded character.

It also might tie into Japanese self confidence, since anything besides long, black, straight hair and dark eyes are rare in the majority of Japanese society, and thus it might make viewers or readers happier to see a girl resembling an average Japanese female, in most portions of their appearance, being an entertaining character. But that's my opinion.
