Previously on /5eg/: Have you ever had a character fall, and then actually be redeemed?

delet

>No shitty fetish picture
>No advertising in the opening post

You're doing God's work, friend.

Post good homebrew

...

>That moment when you haven't made a thread on Veeky Forums in years so you forget to put /5eg/ into the title of a thread like a fucking retard
Have you ever played a character with an INT score below 8?

Delete the thread and start again

Doesn't matter. Keep 5eg thread spam as low as possible and just keep bumping this thread.

The other one will die eventually.

...

I had a Paladin in my party try to drag by himself and redeem the warlock, rogue and wizard, who had a huge beef around the latter getting powermad and killing civilians, killed each other a few times and were all revivified by the Pally. It ended up with the wizard pretty much killing everyone with an Incendiary Cloud, while they all knew BBEG was following them and probably was in the next room.

Don't worry, we expect this of 5efags.

>Have you ever played a character with an INT score below 8?
No, even when rolling stats I rarely get below 8 or 9, and when I do they're more likely to go into CHA.
Sometimes I kind of wish we had a pointbuy option that could go as high as 18 and as low as 6, with 18s being so expensive that you could only get one even if you put 6s in all other stats. I'm tired of not being able to roleplay a complete idiot or an invalid in good faith because even at their worst they're only ever so slightly worse than a regular person.

I'm trying to buff martials

Here you go.

Are the 1/3 casters any fun, or is there no point to playing them? Or do you have to multiclass with Wizard to make them interesting?

Thoughts?

>Fun
>Interesting
You're going to have to define what those terms mean to you. Personally I've had fun playing most of them, however that means somewhere between Jack and shit on if you'll find it fun.

...

They're plenty fun, it's literally just throwing a few more options on top of their regular classes. The only people that complain are the gishfags who want 1/3 casters to be 1/2 casters that are better than Paladins.

Barbarians don't need combat buffs, they need a reason to not pull out your phone during noncombat scenes.

Okay but what about Fighters. Indomidable is a Fighter feature.

martials are plenty combat strong, add noncombat features if you're gonna do something

I play an EK in a long term campaign and it feels so freaking badass to do a Misty Step + 3 Attacks + Action Surge to do 3 more attacks, and then tell monsters to suck it with Shield. It's top fun.
Wife also played an AT in my campaign and just couldn't get enough of illusion and Mage Hand shenanigans, while also dealing dem sneak attacks left and right.

Just make it into legendary resistance, it won't break anything.

You must be funny at parties

You're joking right? Fighters get punked on by pretty much every other class in damage output until they run out of spell slots, unless the Fighter is a McCree Fighter. And he's only comparable to the rest until he runs out of superiority die.

I still want to play a not!TonyStark

>Just make it into legendary resistance, it won't break anything.
This

same. Utility, not combat.

What is this, two threads? The other one was made earlier. Explain this faggotry.

...

Oh neat. I'm actually playing a Cleric/Wizard that I'm flavoring as a Knight of Mystic Fire. Cool paladin archetype though, I dig it.

I think their utility should be coming from their archetype, not the core class.

It's shadman, faggotry is all he can do.

Broken for a feat less game

You would've made the other one even if this one was first faggot

Shad shilling shit is not an actual /5eg/

you would be wrong. Both core and archetype should offer utility.

ignore that one, obnoxious dude pushing loli hentai. Can't believe he isn't banned yet.

The other is somebody trying to move his shitty porn site.

Some poster is trying to start fights and shitpost by including shadman into the thread, everyone who actually wants to talk about 5e is ignoring him.
I'd tell you to report him for spamming threads but I already know that there's no mod on Veeky Forums, so we'll just have to deal with it.

>running a featless game
Are you fucking retarded?

Perhaps. But I struggle to think of a decent way to tie utility into the Fighter.
But here's my Purple Dragon Knight rework which gives a pretty flavorful Fighter since we're on that topic.

Considering axing the spells learned and giving a secondary 3rd level feature to give the PDK himself a boost or buff of some kind though.

Funny thing, he did get one of his threads deleted, then made the one with the red headed elf, so they might show up.

>Lich that likes to fuck around with adventurers
>Pours his fucking phylactery in a potion bottle and dumps it in a random chest
>Adventurer comes along, sees a red potion
>"Oh it's a potion of healing, of course", drinks it
>It's a fucking phylactery, the soul of the lich gets transferred to this significantly younger, more agile, stronger adventurer
>Adventurer gets his soul dumped in a fucking dust-covered skeleton
>Lichventurer and his new party go and murder their former friend at the end of the dungeon then go on their merry way until the lich gets bored and decides to murder them too

y/n

No

I'm just the only sane person itt

...

Martials are worthless without feats and you're a bad DM if you don't use Feats. Plain and simple.

That's not how phylacteries work, user

Okay, I'll bite.

Special mention for The Perfect Chord, Storm Lord, and Wild Huntsman. I like the flavor for all of these.

Have you ever seen a phylactery in real life?

Phylacteries aren't liquids, dumbass. a lich can invest their soul into a bottle but not a fucking potion.

>nonspecific martial not using any class features with 2 attacks, PAM and GWM does 2d10+1d4+15+30 per turn without expending any resources or their reaction
>punked on
ok

No, but I've seen a reasonable explanation of how it works in the MM
>Rejuvenation. If it has a phylactery, a destroyed lich gains a new body in 1d10 days, regaining all its hit points and becoming active again. The new body appears within 5 feet of the phylactery.

Phylactery is not a fucking Magic Jar spell.

>fighter with two feats has +5 in strength

Fuck off retard.

...

Yeah the important thing to remember is any other character can do the exact same thing, except probably -1 STR from less ASI's.

So they're exactly the same except the Fighter gets +1 STR, and the other character gets a whole fuck load of class features. Fighters are pretty fucked in this edition compared to Paladins, Paladin's improved smite even out damages Fighter's third attack if built right.

i have never seen a fighter without a +5 in their primary stat after an ASI or two

Should I go Greatsword or Sword and Board on a STR Ranger?

Th-they're liquids in Dragon Age.

Don't bully me.

The Fighter doesn't even do that much damage. Because he's taking a -5 to hit from GWM, he's probably going to miss at least one, probably even two attacks regularly.
Also if you go GWM you're losing out on AC. You probably took GWF since you're going balls to the wall offense. You don't have Dex because you're a GWM, so your saving throws against the most common damage spells are dogshit.

Also if you took two feats you didn't take two ASI, you have +3 to hit from strength, maybe +4 if you have a third ASI.

Doing a power attack gives you a -5 to hit, so you actually have +3 or +4 to hit. Enemies at 7-10th level frequently have very high AC's, so your hit rate while power attacking is going to be around 60%. Your AC is at most 19 if you took Defense and are wearing plate. You are not a great grappler unlike someone taking Shield Master, have lower AC, have worse saving throws, your entire control relies around killing enemies for your backline rather than being a CC king and shield bashing motherfuckers.

All of this to the same damage a Wizard can do to a group of enemies, but to a single enemy, or 1/3rd that damage to 3 different enemies. Also, your damage can be 0 for a round, a Wizard always does at least half his damage.
And people cry when someone wants to buff martials.

Then you have retarded DMs. Max stat at 1st level is 17, so +3. With 3 ASI you can have at most 19 Str unless you take a feat that's not PAM or GWM which gives you a +1 to Str.

The exception is rolling, which is rare as fuck and a statistical outlier.

...

Behold the less than spoken about Cheese Wiz homebrew.

Sword and Board. You don't get access to Two-handed style and Hunter abilities work on any weapon (so negligible damage difference), you don't have access to heavy armor (so you're either MAD or have low AC, and as a STR Ranger you definitely are MAD).

But user, D&D is not your fucking Dragon Age. Either you tell explicitly that you adapt shit, or you don't ask stupid questions.

Oh to say nothing of the fact that the Fighter has hands down the worst Archetypes of any of the classes. Only Battlemaster and XGE Cavalier are what I would call good. Eldritch Knight is suboptimal as fuck, Samurai is just mediocre, Champion is both boring and third worst archetype in the game, and Purple Dragon Knight is hands down the worst archetype in the entire game.
Fighters are in a horrible state compared to other classes.

Either works, greatsword is only better if you have ASIs to spare on GWM

Yes and in that they are sealed and once it is broken out pops a revenant. So if anything breaking the seal should be what releases a lich of you're running off that logic

Dragon Age phylacteries don't even function the same way as in D&D, they just happen to share the name

Yes.

I'm going Horizion Walker and have Heavy Armour from my Human feat.

I'd really rather use a Polearm for style but my bonus action is needed for class features so PAM isn't really worth the +1 damage it'd give me. And d10 damage is on average 5.5... worse then a Longsword with Dueling.

Only issue is my DM removed all that drop casting shit so while I sword and board I can't really cast anything but verbal spells.

>/pol/

>Unearthed Arcana: Three Subclasses

I like the core idea of a character who casts spells (semi) randomly. Is there anything that can be done with this to make something usable?

... Fucking read up on monsters that you want to do some weird shit with before proposing it. Also what the fuck did dragon age do? The iconic phylactery is a black box of some sort although random bits of jewelry or magic items are common.

Actually not /pol/ posting.

That box on his head is a phylactery. It's full of little scrolls.

You can use your shield as a divine focus

>being ignorant

Ask him for a Ruby of The War Mage from XGE, a common magical item, that allows your weapon to be the spellcasting focus.

If anything, the continued association of a Jewish religious practice with evil is /pol/, but don't let reality intrude on your social justice crusade.

Racist much? Learn culture.

In Dragon Age I'm pretty sure it's blood extracted from mages. The Templars can then use the blood to track them down if they go rouge.

Rangers don't get a focus at all, they have to use component pouches.

He's not gonna allow it, he's really not a fan of mixing casting and martial.

No. Random spells don't mesh with finite spell slots, it's bad enough when enemies make saves, but to waste a spell slot on a potentially useless result before rolls are even made? That's just introducing an extra point of failure.

not the same thing though though is it? i was referring to it being a bit off comparing jews to liches as a joke

Well, they were more common in earlier editions of D&D. 1st and 2nd edition had two magical phylacteries (one slowed ageing, and the other let your priest know if they were going to do something that violated alignment or would piss off their god) and one cursed one (which attracted the attention of monsters of the opposite alignment.)

Well, the only other options are to either get War Caster feat or not to draw attention to the rule and just cast your spells.

>Rangers don't get a focus at all, they have to use component pouches.
WotC really hate Rangers...

>Max stat at 1st level is 17

No it's 20.

you're a ranger, the only spell you really need is Hunter's Mark, anything else is just gravy. Though if you're paranoid monster hunter, then consider taking Alarm asone of your first level spells, handy for camping.

Are you retarded?

You asked, have you ever seen a Phylactery in real life.
He said yes and posted a real life Phylactery. That's where Phylacteries come from. They're Semitic holy boxes.

If you roll and get extremely lucky. Which is irrelevant to this discussion because I could just as easily bring up Fighter that have 12 in all stats.

That's the origin of the word, difference is Jews put scripture in, Liches put their soul in it.

>max stats at level 1 is 17 except when it isn't but that doesn't matter

damn retard

True, it's probably not a tefillin, but just uses the word phylactery due to it's meaning. (Because it protects the lich's soul)

On the other hand, that picture could count as depicting a Phylactery of Monstrous Attention)

This is one of my favorites. He gave a invocation that allows for a unique weapon for all Pacts, which makes the Hexblade less insane in comparison and the flavor of Storm Lord is neat.

Honestly I think I might just go for polearm and defence fighting style, or ask for GWF anyway. Warcaster would delay my STR and WIS so I can't see it being worth it.

Pretty much.

Eh not really? Hunter's Mark is +7 average damage at best and chews concentration and a spell slot. Horizon Walkers get +4.5-+9 average damage, without using their concentration or a spell slot with their bonus action. I'm not touching less damage for the cost of a spell slot with a 10ft. pole.

Also at level 9 I get Haste, a much better use of concentration.

Rangers can still use spell focuses in place of component pouches, they just don't start the game with either because they don't have spells at level 1.

How long does a campaign like ToA or SKT or COS usually take to finish?

...

i'm not an idiot, i just thought comparing the litch phylactery to the jew phylactery was bad taste. carry on i guess

>all fighters have 20 str and 2 feats
>no they don't most people don't roll and the ones that do usually don't get an 18
>hurr durr hurr durr hurr

Fuck
off
retard

2d10+1d4+9+30 then, still doesn't that bad, though really it's likely to be 2d10+1d4+12+30, for a variant human at level 6 Bonus feat, 15+1 in strength, PAM at level 4, +2Str at 6th level)
