I'm not sure why, but this feels like an appropriate response.
Normally I avoid this kind of campaign premise like the plague, too likely to start a real-world political debate, but I'd probably bite like the idiot I am.
That's a ladyknight, right?
Else they're an extreme manlet.
Sauce?
It's a ladyknight.
There are sensical people here you can have a real discussion. But these threads are /pol/ bait threads.
>the accusing women are stoned to death
>mfw middle ages
I guess, but it feels like the catalog is just getting crappier by the day with the same threads over and over. Granted, every thread that I've started in the past four months has gotten responses that really helped me, but all of those were over within 14 hours before another bait thread came along.
>actors
Who believes an /actor/? They lie for a living! They're notoriously slutty! They stole my goat and fondled my wife.
Hang them all. The rest, keep.
Hang the lawyers too! They've probably fondled somebody.
Will the attractive victims of these improprieties come to bed with us after we nobly stand up for them?
Fear not, we are here to help
Hey man, my god says I am cool, so fuck you.
>let's reward the victims of inappropriate behavior with even more inappropriate behavior, tis only just
Ah, I see. It's not worth bothering ourselves with such matters and making influential enemies for nothing. Now if any of you want to settle the score with perpetrators you are free to act.
Oh no. Whatever will we do?
>Byrd’s diary is a rap sheet of absolutely galling sexual misconduct. He wrote about having “committed uncleanness with the maid because the mistress was not at home.” Offensive enough. But then: “when the mistress came, I rogered her.” He referred to “a dark angel”—likely a slave—who “struggled just enough to make her Admirer more eager.” Admitting to his “wicked inclinations” toward the wives of other men, Byrd, on at least one occasion, overstepped the bounds of his inclinations, kissing a woman “on the bed until she was angry and my wife was also uneasy about it, and cried as soon as the company was gone.” It happens so often it almost becomes boring.
Aside from name a bunch of parks after him. And this in the 1700s! en.wikipedia.org
Any discussion of sexual miscouduct that doesn't include William Byrd II is anemic at best.
You ser, are no knight. Have at thee!
>and so they went to war.
This is an awesome concept for a campaign. You have easy villains and a noble cause with still room for a couple of twists.
Stop making terrible threads.
Real talk. It's an awesome idea for a campaign.
Unfortunately, this is true.
Accusing women are accused of being witches trying to defame noble lords and quickly burned at stakes.
Knights trying to defend them are accused of being heretics and satanic servants.
Actually now it does seem kinda interesting.
...
There is a lot of design space for grand heroics and dark grittiness.
> Most of the concerned knights are actually sexual perpetrators themselves
> All sluts in a famous brothel, half noble ladies, including the strongest ladyknight, an ugly fat half-troll lady from a local circus, a few nuns including the sacred virgin vestal, confess they have been raped by some of the richest nobles of the country.
> King Donnel the Lucky Card says he has grabbed a few ladies in inappropriate ways, but he dhes not care.
> Peasants of duchess Illaria of Cliffcastle rebel against king Donnel, the duchess herself calls him a heretic.
Eh, too edgy.
Would be pretty fun as long as you know you’re players' political and social views enough that they won’t be weird about it
A thread died for this.
What if the party is comprised only of guys, are not nobles, bards, clergymen, actors, writers OR knights?
It doesn't impact them at all, why would they care if something like this happened at all?
Captain Contrarian here to contribute absolutely nothing!
Don't assume the worst: it's a legitimate question.
Then the party is roped into things because a knight turns out to be an old acquaintance of one of the character or maybe an ex-employer who asks them to help in the investigations.
Or one of the accused noblemen asks the party to investigate and find out who is spreading all these rumors and put a stop to it before his reputation sinks even more.
They are guilty because every man in the kingdom has been a part of it. Even if they were unaware and didn't touch a woman since they left their mothers' wombs.
You contradict the OP
No I don't! Also:
> Great Red Witch says all men in the world must be beheaded for what the nobles have done
> Agnetta from Sarcasson mountains says sailors and male monasteries are to blame because they don't allow women on teams.
> A large group of women protests wizard guild's project to produce entertainment golems for hermits and travelling knights.
I find it incredibly heretical for there to be a physical manifestation of the Stanley Parable voice.
>Famous lords, bards, clergy, actors, and writers
>every man in the kingdom has been a part of it
It's contradictory. Not every man is a lord, actor, writer, bardor part of the clergy.
Depends on setting.
...
Depending on the impetus behind the accusations, that may not be an issue.
>Famous lords, bards, clergy, actors, and writers are suddenly being accused of inappropriate sexual behavior towards women in the kingdom
Powerful men are accused of everything imagineable all the time. It is only reasonable, let alone chivalrous, to leave these men untarnished in both physique as well as reputation until a proper investigation has yielded undeniable proof. Those guilty will be punished severely, but false accusators will be punished as if they were guilty of the crime they accused others of.
Doesn't change the fact that not every man is a lord, bard, cleric/priest, actor or writer. And even then, they are not Famous.
Why would anyone care if a low born woman accuses a priest that no one has heard about of rape?
You cannot make this matter encompass all men, because it targets specific groups of men, as OP has clearly stated.
Only correct answer in a fair-but-kind-of-modern-leaning-cultural setting.
Innocent, until proven guilty.
Bah, kill them out and God will know his own. They have heirs and such so their line shall live on.
sexist
>Actors
>Bards
>Writers
>Famous
Ahahah u wot?
Also:
>Lords
>Clergy
>Accused by women
We arrest them. And by them, I mean the Women, who are impugning the honor of these goodly men of God.
I vouch for the words of the women as do the majority of the lords in the kingdom. The pope himself has provided me a writ that has given me his blessing along with those of all his cardinals, save for the four accused.
Too bad WE'RE ALL ANGLICAN YOU PAPIST DOGS! HAHA! GUARDS, ARREST THEM!
Found the witch.
>using real world religions in your fantasy setting
Yeah, I'm done with this game.
>Pope
>Authority in this Godly Kingdom
LaughingProtestants.jpg
t. Butthurt Papist
Don't use Pope then.
Call him the "Great Father" or "Most Holy Mortal" or something. Pope has actual IRL meaning.
you're the one who referenced the Pope and Cardinals, you Nicean hambeast
>Protestants
>Use long, generic phrases that have to power to them
Yeah, sounds like a lame as fuck setting.
Yeah, because they are one word and snappy. It also gives the reader a sense of organization and hierarchy without needing to get into all the nitty gritty of Catholicism.
How about "The Head", with lower rankings being other parts of the body?
Evokes the image of Faith whilst keeping a simple, straightforward hierarchy.
If you want to use Pope, do so.
But don't be surprised at players evoking similar aesthetics and you being accused of being creatively bankrupt.
>It's not worth bothering ourselves with such matters and making influential enemies for nothing
>Dispensing justice
>Gratitude of the people
>A reputation for good deeds
>Non-sexual rewards or payment
>Restitution from the perpetrators
>Any of those worth nothing if you cannot bed the victim
You are no knight. You're taking advantage of the victim. Take it too far and you're almost as bad as the original criminals
>accused of being witches
But user witches don't exist and believing in them is herresy.
Make the campaign the investigation.
Find out if there has been covering up and obstruction of justice by these powerful men.
They might be wrongfully accused, but there might also be a huge cover up with many, man and woman alike, turning blind eyes for various reasons. Most likely to protect themselves.
And what of the accusers? Most likely they will need protection in the wake of their statements.
You can't claim "innocent until proven guilty" yet stand by as the accusers are subject to threats and harm by others.
>you can't protect all parties
But you can, and you should.
Until truth has been found, accusers should be protected from retribution and the accused should be protected from harm. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, even if you don't like the accused.
>Reputations take a lifetime to build and a second to lose
If these are false accusations, their livelihood is likely severely damaged, if not ruined, already. All parties should be protected to the best of everyone's ability until the truth is found.
An investigative campaign sounds fun though.
TRIGGERED!!!
>The Head
Yeah, that sounds sexy. Body metaphor, really thinking outside the box on that one. 10/10
Also, yeah, I would be shocked if in the setting I say the church of Pelor has a pope and cardinals and my players protest over there not being literal Protestants and Anglicans complete with all the rivalries of Christianity.
>you can't protect all parties
Huh? Where did I say that? Protecting all parties is the entire premise. That's why there's even an investigation instead of a lynch mob.
-The accused lord hires you to clear his name
-A sympathetic patron takes up the victim's cause
-You're a Robin Hood-like team that regularly investigates such matters, acting pro bono and getting payment from guilty lords (twist: one agency member actually feeds investigation info to the accused for money)
-A rogueish version that investigates or frames then blackmails powerful elite
-Fantasy SVU
>Reputations take a lifetime to build and a second to lose
Right, but who is in a better position to recover after such an event?
A wealthy lord who, even if reputation soiled, still has money and land?
Compare that with a victim who probably isn't as wealthy or powerful (most likely poor, forcing them into an exploitable situation) and at risk of retribution by the accused party should no one believe them
Wealthy royalty/clergy/celebrities/corporations can do so much worse
They can hire assassins and mafia. Beatings. Overt threats. Arson. They can put your family into so much debt you become slaves. They can excommunicate and exile you. And their powerful friends will help them
Wouldn't those be interesting challenges in a campaign?
Depends on setting.
What trap card?
Creature effect, actually: Man-Eater Bug.
Milo Stewart - legendary creature/trap.
Y-yeah it was my friend who accused them haha.
from now you shall be know by all as the coward knight, fearful of songwriters and other rakes.
I wanna play medieval Law & Order now
Consider adding that other powerful individuals use this as a pretext to conquest. Claiming to take up the cause, but really just seeking to take lands, titles, and wealth.
Were the accusers plants? Were the accusers lying for their own profit? Were they truthful the entire time?
Consider how quickly you could have things truly go to hell, players in the middle of it. Twist at the end all you like.
>If these are false accusations, their livelihood is likely severely damaged, if not ruined, already
Pretty much. I'd say that as a man it's better to be raped than to be accused of rape, unless the rape results in pregnancy of the culprit.
>They form two new knightly orders.
>The Order of Metoo and the Order of Yesallmen
>Collectively they become known as the White Kights
The only option is to punish those women and teach them to keep their tongues if they know what's good for them before the kingdom's culture degenerates into woman-worship.
Schopenhauer wasn't even wrong though.
>implying I wasn't serious
>hehe what if, like, we pretend to be the kind of faggots we hate? Won't that be fun
To be honest, strawmanning people you hate is pretty fun. Why do you think children always repeat whatever teachers/other people they don't like say in funny voices? Because it's fun.
Oh wait, this is Veeky Forums and "fun" is a buzzword.
>"Lay with me tonight and thou shall gain riches beyond imagination!"
>"Yes my lord!"
>10 years later, writing while sitting on a chair made of gold and decorated with precious stones from far away lands, inside the palace the old lord gave her
>"He humiliated me! I demand justice!"
I feel like /pol/ is a natural match for a roleplaying board like Veeky Forums, since these retards already inhabit a make-believe world of their own making.
that looks like a building of excessive size
The size of that building combined with the rant on /pol/ it was combined with makes me believe this is supposed to be the inside of the planned Reichstag of Welthauptstad Germania, the new capital Hitler had planned for his thousand year reich. Hitler was really buttmad about Parisian monuments and a really big fan of big buildings. He wanted a Paris that's biggerer and betterer.
It is. It’s from some mad Frenchman of the 1700’s.
Oh, guess I was wrong then.
I saw it come up in a previous thread, with the context of ‘Man the reichstag was shit!’
Is this a real historical painting? I can draw fucking dice better than that.
>all accusations take place in the same city, one famous for it's theatres and art
>knights fight with other knights when they have very different conclusions to the same case
>knights has to work together to compare their evidence to find the truth
Like L.A noire but with swords and magic
>guy who thinks women have no artistic sense whatsoever
The guy is objectively retarded
