As a beginner player, how good are the Eldar for a main army? They don't seem fun to paint but there must be another redeeming quality, right?
Benjamin Brooks
Why don't I see pic related taken very often, compared to their ranged counterpart?
They seem bretty good as a Carnifex/Can Opener equivalent.
Andrew Lewis
The second edge highlight is applied more selectively than the first, meaning the base colour and both edge highlights are clearly visible. The second edge is usually applied on sharper edges and in less quantity than the first, if that helps.
Dominic Perez
A troop of 5x 18" Rapid Fire 1 AP -3 D6 damage.
Ian Gutierrez
I can't decide what CSM army I want to build
I like Thousand Sons, Emperor's Children, Alpha Legion, and Black Legion.
WHAT DO
Camden Scott
Okay. I got not issue with the Custodes but that ponytail sticking out of the top of the armor is just the dumbest.
John Hill
>THey don't seem fun to paint Get an army that you like building and like the look of, you're going to spend way more time hunched over these little minis gluing and painting them then you ever will playing with them. The game changes with editions and supplements, the models don't.
Kevin Kelly
xth for the sick hallucinogenic drugs can be made using the crystallised part of an eldar psyker's brain.
Jace Barnes
Eldar are quite allright as a main army. Painting is fine, but assembly is a little irritating with most of the range being resin.
On the table they're quite fun though. Eldar is an army of specialists, and specialists are more fun to play than jack-of-all-trades
Alexander Gomez
space fags
Tyler Parker
1k Sons if you really like magic, being a scheming jew, and egyptians.
Emperor's Children if you're a memer who likes Slaneesh.
Alpha Legion if you don't want to devote yourself to one god.
Black Legion if you want to devote yourself to all the gods, and are a faggot
Joshua Ross
I asked this a couple threads back, but what chapters of space marines worship the emperor as a god. I would prefer canon chapters for a deathwatch kill team made up of only these chapters.
So far I know of. Black Templars Fire Angels Red Hunters
I would like to get at least 2 more for a 5 man team, but if I can find 7 more that would be even better.
Brayden Taylor
Bandwagoners will not be judged
Cooper Walker
Empy's little girls, user. You dont want your "dudes" to thank you for every blessing and look up at you like their big brother?
Owen Morgan
It's not that bad on the actual model.
It can also be made without the top knot.
Joshua Cox
Take the one you like the look of the most, dumbass. but i also support just because i'm a filthy degenerate as well
Ryder Morales
flamer is just really good. I use those when I want a block of wounds and speed on a budget tho
Ethan Jackson
Make an Iron Warriors army because clearly they are better
Ryder Kelly
The common way it's done is the first edge highlight is on the whole edge and the second is only right on corners. On the pointy tips of the kneepads and facemask on this Emperor's Champion for example.
Jacob Williams
Black legion with Abby is pretty fun but harder to pull off well than you might expect (curse of the marine army), AL is pretty decent but similar to BL. Sometimes I run BL with a Tsons detachment though and that is pretty sweet
Gavin Brown
>They have wrist mounted grenade lauchers Why is that so fucking cool sounds?
Wyatt Brown
So who did it better?
Josiah Davis
I find it to be the best loadout actualy. It's just too good to skip. But lots of people have the flamer version from the starter.
Blake Allen
GKs have stormbolters on their wrists so naturally it had to be 1 upped
Usually OP
Liam Sanders
Plaguespitters are near goddamn perfect for the unit. Fly around freely advancing, charging weak targets for safety from shooting before flying away and shooting somemore, scary to assault because of Overwatch.
I usually pair them with each other though, they do work
Sebastian Torres
FW is btfo. Cataphractii-like shoulder pads just make the GW version so much better.
Isaiah Martinez
user why are you so mad about your GK's being out preformed by custodes?
Hunter Thomas
I've been seeing a bunch of Custodes schemes. Some from FW books I think? Lol, Custodes will end up having a your dudez aspect after all
Juan Ramirez
Painted the test model for my Xenonians. I tried to keep the scheme as simple as I could since I'll have to paint a lot of these. But I'm pretty happy with it. Now for a whole squad, and figuring out how I want to base them.
Blake Morales
gonna stick with GW one, FW is just too much plus their new FW helms look gay
Chase Morgan
I like the body of the GW version better, but i might see if it's possible to use the FW shoulders on it. GW shoulders just feel too cataphractii to me
Austin Harris
Not mad though. I have Custodes and not GKs
Landon Cox
See I feel the opposite, the Cataphractii-like shoulderpads ruin the GW version by clashing with the rest of the design and breaking an otherwise consistent silhouette.
Sebastian Wilson
I will Today buy the Tau Starter Box is There are a Download for the Tau how to paint pdf and the xenos 2 pdf? I am a totally beginner so has anyone Tipps for me in general?
Benjamin Gray
Honestly I think the whole FW Custodes line looks terrible outside of the Dreads. I had zero interest in the army before these new plastic kits.
John Brooks
Looks nice, user. Curious to see what conversions you came up with for the lack of lasguns in the Escher pack.
Jace Gutierrez
It's always been canon that Custodes of different ranks/stations use different coloured armour.
Dylan Brooks
I guess it's the matter of taste. Oh, and GW ones have capes.
Mason Murphy
See i am so worried about edge highlights because i just dont understand to do them on things like Custodes. The Metal on the shield seems strange. It looks like its gold and silver at the same time.
James Watson
Man, this will always be THE iconic piece of 40K artwork for me.
Charles Thompson
Not the poster, but I agree. For sure. This is THE moment in the lore, and here it is, rendered beautifully.
Jack Jones
There's enough actually if you use the autogun and aren't running conscripts were you literally need ten rifles. That said, I did go ahead and order some Victoria Minatures lasrifles as backup.
Jacob Parker
Why would you say that? The FW line looks amazing and was what got me interested in Custodes in the first place. The Sagittarum Guard are probably my favorite unit in the whole range next to the dreadnoughts, aesthetically speaking, if only they had good rules to match.
Nathaniel Roberts
>Cuss-Toad-Es Is that how you pronounce it? I've always said Cuss-Toads
Asher Miller
>it had to be 1 upped wrist grenade launchers have been a thing since rogue trader, though
Jacob Reed
You can just Drybrush to highlight Custodes. Metallic colors are super easy. Especially when it's almost the whole model and it has a lot of detail. Black is where edge highlighting is unavoidable and challenging.
Owen Sanchez
Its either >cuss toad ease Or >cuss toad ayys If you want to sound extra cultured, pronounce it as ayys with a spanish roll from the d to the e, the way antonio banderes would.
Adam Nguyen
It's pseudo latin so it's definitely /kʌs-təʊ-diːz/
Bentley Taylor
Clearly FW has a more consistent aesthetic, befitting of custodes. GW designs are all over the place and makes them look like some pleb marines, not the best of the best.
Jordan Jones
See, I don't like this. But it very well could be the paintjob.
Christian Myers
Cuh-stoads
Gabriel Barnes
This is the opposite of amazing. The tanks and FW bikes are likewise pretty bad. The plastics blow them out of the water.
Brody Sanders
How the fuck do you people believe that it should be pronounced that way?
Thomas Myers
huh why would you go with dry brush for metallics?
I also think the flyer looks awkward, but the tanks have cool and unique aesthetic to them.
It's funny you should say that because I hate the way GW paints Custodes, It's more banana yellow chrome than it is gold.
Bentley Murphy
Yea i know its Cus-toad-Es. I was wondering why people think it is Cuss-toads.
Charles Edwards
>lass cannons >lass guns I wouldnt trust the british with how to pronounce anything, let alone pseudo latin.
Cameron Bailey
Also while I think the riders of the GW bikes look better because of the less static poses and cooler lances, the bikes themselves are much cooler in the FW version.
Ryder Russell
>Literally megas at the top of the thread
Play some small games, get acquainted with how your basic doods function before you start inflating game size and have to remember a billion different things across a dozen different units. Actual read your dex and the core rules so you don't come back here with some asinine question spelled out on page 4. And don't sweat what's meta or isn't until you know the game a decent amount, just try to have fun.
Brayden Diaz
It's very personal. To me these grav tanks look like CIS tanks from Star Wars prequels. I don't like that. And in regards to the paintjob, I feel like FW's paintjobs are always so dirty.
Asher Martinez
This thing is almost as disgusting as the sisters transport
Asher Wood
Can you stack leadership debuffs? Say if a Interrogator Chaplain rolls around with a unit of Reivers do they inflict -2 on morale? Or say add a hero with Eye of the Unseen for -3 morale on units in melee with them?
Ethan Sullivan
I don't get these bike leathers. On GW and FW's both.
Justin Morales
Custodes bikers, admech dragoons and a Knight for a knigtly noble order and mass lance charges. yay/nay?
Gavin Rodriguez
>To me these grav tanks look like CIS tanks from Star Wars prequels. wtf i love custards now
Levi Brooks
Different debuffs stack. Same ones don't unless stated otherwise(like Night Lords)
Christian Hughes
What a nice spread
Sebastian Evans
>It's very personal. To me these grav tanks look like CIS tanks from Star Wars prequels. I don't like that.
Honestly, when I think of those I think of Tau Hammerheads a lot more than the Custodes tanks.
Easton Mitchell
>FW's paintjobs are always so dirty. That's what make them better than GW paintjobs so much worse, the cleanliness doesn't fit the tone of the setting at all.
Dominic Watson
git some taste user
Nathan Rogers
So the chaplain has -1 from Aura of Dread, Reivers -1 from Terror Troops and the dude wearing the Eye of the Unseen is a relic granting the debuff of -1 within 3" of the bearer. So all 3 are different?
Dominic Russell
On something like Krieg or Space Sharks? Absolutely. On golden angels of the Emperor? No. They should be perfect, clad in radiant gold. I really like light gold washed with Reikland Fleshshade.
Landon White
What's wrong with the Repressor? It's a rhino that's been bulked up and with a kickass dozer blade.
Brody King
I bet you like doritos too
Zachary Morgan
It stacks then. But two squads of Reavers won't give you -2, I think.
Camden Hall
It's very common to drybrush metallics. Oftentimes its done as a basecoat over a black undercoat but it works equally well as a highlight when don't lighter. You'll see Duncan do it all the time. In my experience the nature of applying metallic paint over metallic paint often hides the "dustiness" you normally see in drybrushing and makes the effect work even better than on normal colors.
And even so, the more important factor is how dense the detail on a model is. the Denser the detail, the more suitable it is for drybrushing and Custodes are packed. If you're not confident about your edge highlight you should give it a try.
Joseph Foster
he means the kharon acquisitor
>waagh where is my rhinobox GW
Luke Perez
You know damn well what I'm talking about you dildo loving soulless freak.
Jordan Lee
feels bad that all the new art will never reach this level again.
Tyler Bell
>the bikes themselves are much cooler in the FW version. STRONG disagree. Those look terrible.
Lucas Rogers
>GOLDEN WAAAAAGH!!!
Justin Long
How are they expected to hit anything with the lance if it is barely longer than the end of the jetbike when put straight? Dumb gold toads
Tyler Hughes
Bright yello chrome does not look like real gold, the FW ones look like old burnished gold that has withstood the ages and seen aeons. It looks antique which fits with the setting and makes them look distinguished and venerable.
It's for much the same reason I think the FW character looks like a wizened general and the GW character looks like a gay pornstar.
Chase Watson
Oh, Sisters of Silence. Right, my bad.
Wyatt Perry
its pronounced cus-tard
Dominic Cooper
...
Jackson Ortiz
They look slick, aerodynamic, phalic and powerful. The GW version look overly busy (in a non ornate way), chunky and snub nosed.
Liam Gomez
NOPE
Wyatt Barnes
I wonder how expensive they'll be.
Landon Barnes
That's better. Also they must be monstrously swole and mechanically aided to withstand the impact forces upon hitting an armoured enemy at full frontal speed with the lance. Cool.
