Topic for the day: Which one do you prefer: Lot's of smaller terrain pieces or fewer big ones?
Bentley Cooper
Lots of smaller. More versatile and has more potential to make more lanes of attack and allow more dynamic play.
Henry Lewis
I have a preference for several smaller terrain pieces, but I'd like to have the option of a few big ones.
Evan Sanchez
One or two big ones, with a good chunk of smaller
Benjamin Campbell
Both? They're hardly mutually exclusive, and work best together.
Adam Howard
my favorite games have all been on american-terrain-meme tier tables
Liam Flores
Somehow moving my hobby space ive lost BOTH Lasiqs open handed arms. Looked everywhere, cant find them, bizzare.
Whats the best way to fix this? Do any spec ops kits come with spare arms? Would it be that hard to use a thin piece of wire and greenstuff sculpt a new arm on both?
Dominic Johnson
obligatory
Dominic Morgan
I prefer a mix. I like having a largish/taller building in the center to break up rooftop LoF, but I also like having 1-2 long lanes that can stretch most of the table so snipers/missiles can have an ideal place to set up. I tend to like diagonal set ups as well.
Personally the thing I like least about terrain is movement within buildings. It's just awkward from a practicality standpoint. I don't like using my big meat hands to carefully lift up roofs and slide models around.
Around here we play that you can shoot into and out of buildings but not through. But you still have to be touching the wall to get cover. More often that not it makes moving through a building more trouble than it is worth.
I think I would prefer some sort of system where buildings are treated as area terrain or zones and could have streamlined movement rules like 2 short moves to move through per floor or something.
Dominic Russell
>40k players complain that Americans put too little terrain on the field >Infinity players complain that Americans put too much terrain on the field Strange, isn't it
Connor Wood
40k and Warmachine seem to have terrain density issues.
I don't get the chance to play infinity often but I see it played a lot, I'm always impressed by the tables.
Dominic Ross
any good first steps for army-building if i think yu jing sounds cool?
Juan Cruz
A tedious brief scenery.
Andrew Lopez
How much of the map do you guys think a DZ-sniper should even be able to feasibly target?
Luis Cooper
Red veil starter set and the expansion. Its a good all round view.
Jason Nelson
To be worthwhile? At least 60%. The ideally-placed snipier can cover avenue leading out of the enemy's DZ, save through buildings.
It solves the time crunch problem playing Infinity if your opponent loses half their force on the first turn.
Sebastian Scott
That's if you don't mind splitting a box with a friend (or potentially collecting two armies)
There are rumors of a new Kuang Shi box coming out in the next two months which are fancy but useful light infantry every other army is jealous of, that would be a decent first step buy-in besides the current box, as they serve for Yu Jing (Generic) or ISS).
Yan Huo and/or the Zuyong HMG are also pretty decent first buys as they take the classic Yu Jing HI Lt with the style that makes new players want to play and paint them.
Also decent first buys are Tiger Soldiers (the spitfire mostly), Kanren, and Karakuri (see if you can find the single blister). But absolute musts are the Yaokong and Yaoxie remotes boxes. I'd also suggest the JSA support pack (on the sheer virtue that I like the looks better than the vanilla support pack).
Joseph Gutierrez
It's like deep frying shit
It's bad for you and you love it and you know it and we know that you know it
Landon Collins
Any good lore from the RPG Ariadna book?
Dominic Gray
Analogy utilizing food. Definitely a Clapistani.
Charles Gomez
Smaller, duh. You can usually clump/stack them up to make a bigger one.
Charles Rodriguez
>tfw still no Delphyne mini
Carter Parker

Julian Lopez
So everyone ? What would they be saying on infinity Veeky Forums?
Ryder Edwards
ALEPH purged chans off Mayanet when it took over. Veeky Forums is only extant in Nomad, Haqqislam, and Ariadnan territories.
Cooper Davis
>look at those shitty heels 0/10 would not fight with. bet she falls over all the damn time >Joan getting into front-line combat >nice historical accuracy faggot computer >I want to fuck a Morat/Tohaa/Antipode/Umbra/the EI!
Sebastian Sullivan
What the fuck is that?
Hunter White
An ALEPH construct.
Landon Cooper
Special Sophotect model for rescuing children. Some backer's shitpost character that CB actually signed off on.
Asher Clark
One of the most creative ones frankly. Most are just "me but a Nomad xDDD"
Blake Parker
Jesus fucking christ...is this a joke?
Is that chris-chan as an interventor?
Jason Baker
Check the RPG Corebook for yourself.
The Chris-chan character reads like autism:
>A luxurious mane of curly ginger hair frames a slightly pudgy face. Advertisements for the latest movies scroll across his neon-noir clothes.
>Turns every interaction into a competition >Easily bored with regular work… and reality >Self-absorbed and overconfident in his own abilities
>Sometimes being good is a curse. If that’s true, Ell Redmane is truly cursed. Born to a rich family on Tunguska, he wanted for nothing in his childhood, but also didn´t care for much either. Little caught his interest and everything came easy to him.
Cooper Adams
CB signed off on it, which means that they're happy it doesn't violate lore. It's just what happens when you give ALEPH access to the whole run of Barney and then tell it to make a lhost for rescuing children from war zones.
Lucas Young
KS backer content is almost always shit. The stuff that isn't is scarce enough to make searching not worth it.
John Perry
OK now it's my turn to ask if serious. I thought someone drew as a "Nomads weaponized autism" joke.
Austin James
There's a unit of Kazak bikers called the Rodina Dynamos, which will probably end up in the main game at some point.
It's worse than that desu. It's often "me but a Nomad military unit from Infinity", which doesn't leave much wriggle room for long term interesting interactions. None of them are even spec ops agents iirc, which boggles the mind since that would both allow for more natural integration into campaigns and would make your shitty self-insert coolguy even cooler.
The purple dinosaur is one of the best of the lot by an order of magnitude. It's at the point where "mysterious posthuman secret agent", "bog-standard Imperial Agent" and "lone mercenary TAG pilot" are all solidly above the norm in terms of actual in-game potential.
Jacob Smith
When you've got the 'tism real bad, 250 quid is nothing.
Isaac Sullivan
I'm trying to shill my brother into JuYing, how would a cheap, bud decent list look like, possibly with a Guija or an OYoroi?
Ian Price
Wait for the JSA starter resculpt and go JSA
Kevin Taylor
Do we have any news on when it will come out?
Chase Ross
>There are rumors of a new Kuang Shi box coming out in the next two months Not the user you're replying to, but: When can one expect to have clarity on that issue or at least know what the models will look like? Also new drunk Su Jian when?
Michael White
Reposting from a couple threas back:
Next month is - Kuang Shi - Al Hawwa (probably repack) - Spektrs - Bit and Kiss - Garuda Tacbot with Boarding Shotgun - Hospital Knights - Irmandinhos
Landon Young
...fuck. Should I be worried that it looks a little like a chubbier, autistic version of me? :(
Luis Wright
No, I'm not a dimension-travelling version of you, stop asking!
John Gray
When did this autistic shit happen? Is this legit CB artwork? Also, who the fuck makes their self insert character fat with glasses? You could have MSV perfect eyes, but you have shitty glasses, 170 years in to the future.
James Thomas
Hey anons, relatively new player here, I'm going to be playing a game later this week and I'm anticipating facing an Avatar, currently I have Haqqislam and Druze sectorial at my disposal. How the fuck do I put that thing down?
Brandon Brown
Saito Togan would probably work ok. That and cheap flamethrowers to deal with the ODD, then attack with AP weaponry.
Dylan Williams
It's in the RPG. If you pledged enough, you got a chance to insert your autistic self into the game as a statted up NPC. The lack of imagination is most evident in that most of those character share the name with the backers. E.g. Olen "Gravel" Emmer, submitted by one Olen Grevel.
Some are interesting to run as NPCs though, like an ALEPH Post-Human that favours scarred bodies named the Leper.
How about a game: you pledged enough to get an NPC into the Core book, but you don't want it to just be "me as an Infinity unit" and you want that character to have use for a GM. What would that be?
Noah Martinez
It's the RPG kickstarter, that was one of the high tier rewards. You got your own special character in the book.
Don't worry, there is absolutely more to this autism gold mine. >Revic’s personality is based on an obscure Silicon Valley engineer who worked at a company called Atari in the 1970s and somehow got stuck in the craw of the psychogenesis matrix >Peppers his conversation with weird trivia from 20th century video games
And glasses end up basically becoming part of you after a while, shit's weird without them. If I was the kind of fucking criminal who blatantly self inserted like that I'd probably keep mine.
Hunter Turner
...why would you wanna do this shit? I mean, if you can make your own character for this why not make a character than self insert?
Ayden Moore
But nobody would know it's ME!
Nicholas Carter
Because 1. most people aren't very creative 2. they submitted character ideas to an RPG they knew very little of (probably why so many Hellcats and similar, but no crimelords, space ship pilots etc. they just knew the units from the miniatures game) and 3. they really wanted to show off to their buddies "look it's my face in the manual!"
Noah Harris
Yeah, I'm just thinking that if I'd tossed that much money out I'd have loved to have had one of my PC ideas put out there rather than my doofy looking face in the book.
Eli Diaz
I bet I can guess what character would Veeky Forums make into an NPC.
Anthony Stewart
Hahahah, nah. If I'd done it there would likely be an ALEPH Engineer/Face (Rescue/Infrastructure repair) designed to be good PR by helping out with natural disasters/rebuilding civilian infrastructure that got damaged. Sorta like a lot of the Royal Australian Engineers have taken part in relief after Tropical Cyclone Winston.
I'd love to see more about ALEPH stuff when it's not doing the secret black ops stuff that ALEPH would never, ever do and you can't prove they did. Rather than everything being about military units.
Jacob Fisher
>Jack the ripper Aleph recreation - Initially designed for to sow terror in enemy cities by functioning as a serial killer. His personality was unstable and he escaped before Aleph could dispose of him. Jack is murdering people in cities across the human sphere at random. Aleph is hunting him, but he is incredibly elusive and his kill count is only getting higher.
Yeah, I know right, another Aleph creation. Donut steel. Wouldn't be surprised if this idea has been done before. I don't know much about the Infinity lore, I am pretty new.
Liam Davis
Addendum: One that doesn't look like Barney.
Asher Wood
>nomad OC pass
one of the musclewaifus would be a better choice
Bentley Sullivan
Cheap as in money wise? Dunno, something like this? YJ Starter + Guija + JSA Support pack + Spec Ops for the Celestial Guard. I'd advise against going straight for TAGs right off the bat for a new player.
Joseph Price
I could see a Jack the Ripper made for the opposite reason. To help catch other serial killers by creating an ALEPH spin off to reduce the chance of contamination to ALEPH as a whole by having it emulate those sort of mental patterns.
Austin Foster
>How about a game: you pledged enough to get an NPC into the Core book, but you don't want it to just be "me as an Infinity unit" and you want that character to have use for a GM. What would that be Fat Jimmy, shitty black marketeer >"Hey, guys, whoa, let's not be hasty with those triggers! You bought those guns from me, remember?" Fat Jimmy can get you anything your heart desires. Probably. You know, within reason. I mean, you don't need it -right now- right now, yeah? Some of his merchandise even comes with extra special features, like free radioactive power or an easy-disassemble system. And it's all at a very reasonable price.
Hook: Jimmy's willingness to buy and sell just about anything, regardless of condition, sometimes bites him in the ass. Such things may include >a half-destroyed security tape not meant to be seen by anybody with less than the highest of Yu Jing security clearances >plans for something that could be a strange weapon of some sort. Jimmy privately suspects they're actually for a high-pressure version of an ADHL. >a mostly gutted interplanetary freighter with some non-standard enhancements >a storage device. Jimmy has no idea what's on it, but attacks on his person are up 300% since he got the thing, so he's much more interested in getting rid of it
Parker Flores

Christian Gonzalez
The Leper is alright. Very vague, but vague is better than shittily detailed and there's potential in the bodyswapping robot assassin who favours a particular trait. I could see player paranoia going crazy with that one.
>you pledged enough to get an NPC into the Core book, but you don't want it to just be "me as an Infinity unit" and you want that character to have use for a GM. What would that be? Cowardly sleazeball information broker who tries his/her best to butter up everyone and tells the truth only when paid to do so. As GM I find playing those sorts of delightfully scummy NPCs a lot of fun, and players seem to either really like or absolutely fucking despise them depending on the details and context.
Not gonna lie, he'd be far better than most of them. Spec ops with a side order of seduction would make him far more versatile for a GM than some random Hellcat who's really good at being a Hellcat.
Isaiah Gray
>How about a game: you pledged enough to get an NPC into the Core book, but you don't want it to just be "me as an Infinity unit" and you want that character to have use for a GM. What would that be?
Some kind of mercenary space pilot with ties or deals with Yuan Yuan. Someone the PCs can hire regularly if they need to travel but don't have their own space craft. His own craft is of dubious quality though and he may want to lay low every time they dock to a circular under YJ's surveillance. But they can rely on him to provide dust off if things get out of hand in combat. Basically a Han Solo archetype.
Logan Gonzalez
because I don't care for the nomad catperson meme
Aaron Stewart
ok, Thank you, Guess I'll need to get him painted up this week, lol. What about Druze with the E/M Grenade launchers. Their WIP isn't great but in a 5 man fire team getting B2 with it should help, right?
Justin Robinson
Sure, E/M, Hacking, FUCKING GHAZI, any kind of dirty trick up your sleeve. My vote would go to Ghazi, they're Cubeless (immune to Sepsitor), cheap, equipped with Smoke grenades and Jammers don't need LoF. Not to mention the sheer trolling of crippling a 137pts model with a 5pts one.
Andrew Green
Just a quick idea. A kuang shi that thinks they beat the reeducation, keeping their personality and bides their time to make their escape at an opertune time. Goes back to their underworld contacts to hide away/etc. All this time however he is infact a sleeper agent waiting for the command signal to flip everything over to the ISS.
Ayden Watson
I'd be worried that between the WIP 17 and the 9BTS that, unless I crited I doubt the FUCKING GHAZI would do much. The potential makes me want to try it though...
Christopher Robinson
So, who will stat him first for the RPG?
Benjamin Bennett
Assault hacking is a good one. WIP17 and BTS9 is great, but great can only get you so far against carbonite (or icebreaker if you've got a Barid). After immobilization you go in with CC, d-charges, fire ammo, a Djan HMG or a big nasty AP weapon.
Alternatively there's also cutting off its order pool so it can't do much damage and then ignoring it to press buttons.
Julian Sullivan
I have really fond memories of tagging an avatar with an adhesive launcher and just having my engineer wander up and blow it up.
John Brown
Then where do post-humans do their shitposting, huh?! Check mate scrub!
Landon Jones
One of the few times i used Carlotta I did that too. TAGs cant dodge for shit. Tomcat ends up being my anti-TO/ODD sonofabitch way too often.
On infinity reddit of course.
Chase Walker
>One of the few times i used Carlotta I did that too. TAGs cant dodge for shit. Tomcat ends up being my anti-TO/ODD sonofabitch way too often.
>I AM THE MIGHTY EI! I CANNOT BE STOPPED IN ACHIEVING MY DESTIN...IS THAT A GLUE GUN? RUN AWAY!
Grayson Phillips
I don't understand how Carbonite would be useful, assuming I win the WIP roll (assuming I'm out of LoF and he resets) the Avatar only needs to roll 5's to pass his BTS. So there's a chance (the same as the FUCKING GHAZI jamming it) but I wouldn't think that it should be something I bank on, unless I'm missing something about the hacking which is entirely possible
. That sounds absolutely beautiful.
Camden Cruz
I cant help but hear that in monty python voices and then it degenerating into benny hill. This pleases me greatly.
Ethan Jenkins
>That sounds absolutely beautiful.
It's starting to get really funny at this point just how many things my Sophotech has destroyed in melee by either shooting them in the face with her dinky little pistol or blowing them up with demo charges. There is likely some sort of war crime to put a demo charge on an Immobilised Heavy Infantry.
Brandon Collins
He needs to roll up to four 5s. Overall you've got about one in three chance to immobilize, but it's enough if you're prepared to take advantage with a Naffatun or D-charge platform. It's better odds than most people have to take it on in a conventional firefight. Consider that Ghazi with jammers are closer to a one in ten chance, really more of a defensive weapon to slow it down than something to rely upon. And speaking of defensive weapons, forcing an active turn reset is another wonderful thing assault hackers can do. The limited access CA has to killer hackers means that you can basically just shit repeaters everywhere if you like, and those can really annoy the Avatar, especially if you've got multiple hackers hitting through them
Luke Gutierrez
of course, when I get 2 boxs of kuang chi, CB makes a new box. great.

Carter Flores
Here's a frustrating thing with the RPG: it is explained that an Infinity die has an effect on a 6. But in many cases it is not explained what the Effect is for a particular roll. E.g. when you gain 1 Inf Die Morale Soak through spending Momentum in an Action Scene. What happens if someone rolls a 6? Similarly, there's no explanation for Infinity Die Effects on Earnings. The only Effects described in the Assets sections are Tariffs when rolling for Costs.
That whole Infinity die thing is just goddamn confusing. The only part where it is clear is with damage, as that is tied to weapon Qualities.
Luke Cruz
A robot built to look like a cheap knockoff of a Sesame Street character, that evacuates children from battlefields, actually sounds like an interesting concept. I think the purple whatsit could stand to look LESS like a living thing though.
Parker Peterson
ALEPH uses Bio synthetics.
Gabriel Collins
I think he is just saying it would look better if it was more like a robit, not that Aleph can only make robits.
David Flores
>mfw one of my dudes with a heavy flamer straight up killed a full health TAG in one shot Man the dice did not like that TAG
Ryan Baker
What have been your best/worst dicerolls in Infinity Veeky Forums? At my club we have a Tohaa player who managed to roll 3 1's for saves on his Gorgos, despite only needing 3's.
Myself, I have had my Riot Grrl link manage to miss every one of 5 shots from a Spitfire despite needing 16's to hit (17, 17, 19, 20, 20)
Balancing that out though (and to be fair, every other bad roll ever) is mr 'critomatitic' my Sineater who happily shrugged a infiltrating heavy flamethrower whilst filling the obnoxious pyromaniac with enough lead to convert him into a ALEPH unit. (13, 13, 13, 17 - 3 crits and a miss), shot up Scarface (a crit, then another crit, then 2 more on the poor man when he bailed) and basically locked down an entire board through pure fear factor (NOTHING should get that many crits) over three different games.
Jack Lewis
Best rolls would probably when my grunt sniper made like 5 armor saves in a row vs an camo'd shotgun infiltrator and then actually won the engagement with a pistol.
I can't think of the worst, but I have really bad luck with shotguns
Jordan Foster
Not really my rolls, but I had a maghriba get shot by the Yu-Jing fuckboy with the Hyper-Magnetic-bullshit-cannon and the fucker got 4 crits on me, while I was in cover, in suppressive fire. It fucking sucked.
