New Stormbo- I mean, Garuda.

i dig the new aleph shotgun

I am starting to not like the garuda models. the back pack just overpowers the models head and it make the whole thing look weird.

Oh wait that tube thing ISN'T the models head?
What the hell

It's that tiny creepy black thing beneath it. Easily visible on the right most one, not visible in the others.

Pretty meh, I agree with the other user.

>I think machines should not look alien
spotted the meatbags

It has a tiny Goomba head beneath that giant tube and wings.
The models are goofy as fuck, especially when you add the crazy posing. Garudas looks like a bunch of angles holding a gun.

I think it's veering into AoS type overdesigning.
You have a point though: who says they have to be humanoid? I like Meteors a lot.

Meteors are cool, yeah.
I like ALEPH having humanoid REMs though, they're mostly unique, and unique in the realm of humanity.

The head placement on these garudas is reminding me of something and I can't think of what.
Any ideas? Is it just turtles?

>Is it just turtles?

It's not that. If they wanted to make is less human, why not remove the head altogether? they way they look know is probably geared toward people who want Humanoid robots.

why not have the weapon be a part of the arm or have the weapon be the entire arms? why must they hold it like humans would?

or remove the head and have the "visual sensors" be intergrated with the torso?

>why not have the weapon be a part of the arm or have the weapon be the entire arms? why must they hold it like humans would?
Well, that one is fairly easy: so you don't have to design a new, potentially inferior version of an existing weapon just so it can fit into a robot arm.
Although those already do kinda exist in-universe.

It also gives the bot adaptability. Potentially it can just pick up and use any weapon it can find on the battlefield and you don't need to reprogram and refit them if you want to change their equipment – just give them a different weapon and they're ready to go.

Reposting from archived thread:

Is Ghulam Doctor (on the left) doing some stuff on an invisible holo screen, or is it just "Hey you, I'll be right there, just stay where you are!".

Feeling says it's the latter, but I'm almost decided to make a holo screen as on the right picture.

Looks like she's saying "You must be this tall to ride."

I feel like the weapon of choice against this guy would be a can opener.

Engineers did come with acryle sheets in the olden days, but I don't think doctors ever had them. Then on the other hand, you have some art pointing otherwise.

In the end, do whatever you fancy.

Anyone here have some personal favorite/most fun matchups? For me it was probably JSA with a domaru core (all chain rifles and one spitfire) vs my Corregidor with a Jaguar core. We intentionally set up a really dense table, and throw in McMurrough and a Shikami jumping around everywhere and you've got one hell of a bloody mess.

Aleph vs. Nomads is always thematic.

I like facing PanO no matter which army I'm fielding.

I also have this opponent who plays JSA with whom I like teaching to stop playing gimmicky lists. Guy fields max Oniwabans/character ninjas every game and sweats when he's beaten by a sensor or MSV2. One time he fielded max Aragotos and was pounded to dust with a single BSG Fiday.

vs Avatar + thousands of fans and trying to take it down
sometimes jotum also puts up a fight

I want to get into Infinity. A handful of people around here play. Morats appeal to me. Any pointers on how should I get started?

That robot looks extremely happy to be wielding that shotgun.

You should teach him to quad missile. It's the best JSA gimmick.

the morat starter is an ok start
then combined army support pack
then maybe some hungries for your oznat
from there on whatever you want

I have not played but the models look nice so I am interested. I started watching some basic rules stuff on youtube to get a feel for the system but want to know more. I have talked to a couple people that tried it and from the demo they disliked it. Reason being they were shot more on thier turn then they got to shoot.

Is this an issue with the system or was it a bad demo? How does this compare to other skirmish games in say depth ease of play and models needed?

What do you think of the raicho?

It's become somewhat of an argument starter in these parts, mainly because some people think it's overshadowed by Sogarat and refuse to accept differing opinions.

it's good, don't field it without the mechadron obsidion (medic+engineer) or you'll get owned when your opponents bricks it with a single hacker roll

the opponent gets as many reaction shots as times you peek outside your cover, however most minis only shot once per reaction shot while you have full burst during the active turn
they were probably thinking they could just walk about and soak all the bullets while moving forward
in infinity you sort of have to figure out an efficient way to move to your objective avoiding traps laid by your opponents and facing only the overwatch trooper your currently active piece could beat at whatever range they happen to face each other
game is real nice and very complex and interesting

It's trash. Just run the soggy/gornak link.

If you get shot more than your opponent during your active turn, you either have too little terrain, you play poorly or your list building has gone horribly wrong, probably a combination of all three.

The start can be a bit rocky, even if you don't need that many models to play (well, that's expected for any skirmish game). The core mechanics are simple enough, but it can be a bit of a hassle to learn all the special rules at once. Most are simple enough modifiers in practice (usually +3 or -3 to some roll), but it takes time to learn what they mean in practice. Know how units in your own list work and try to learn the rest by playing the game.

Bad demo. It's entirely possible they weren't using enough terrain, it's extremely important for the game. The opponent can shoot back, but as the active player you get to pick your battles and stack modifiers against your opponent while also rolling more dice, which means you have an innate advantage. You definitely can't prance around the battlefield on your turn however you want like most games though.

The rules are generally intuitive but somewhat frontloaded, they should click within a few games though. Prepare to mess up the little details for a while.

As for models, armies tend to number around 10-16, maybe a little more for Haqq and Ariadna. You'll likely end up with a few that don't fit together in a particular list though.

Thoroughly mediocre, but usable. Always pick the flamer option, it's far better at defending itself at close range than the other one.
Honestly I'd hold off on a TAG this early, if you play against someone who doesn't know how to counter it you'll get overconfident, and if you play against someone who does know how to counter it you'll get slaughtered.

Looking to get into Nomad via Icestorm plus its expansion. I was thinking of picking up a Mobile Brigada for a hacker, or maybe a Spektre. No clue what REMs to get, only that I want some. Any recommendations for a complete newbie looking for his bearings?

On a related note, why do Haqq’s and Nomad’s starter packs lack docs and hackers respectively? It seems weird that starter packs don't show off the faction’s specialties. Is it just for simplicity’s sake?

What do you predict will be in the Invincible Army starter set? I doubt it'll have more than one Zuyong as they're probably releasing a box of them. Maybe Hac Tao ML, Shang Ji, some new stuff and a Yan Huo HMG.

>what REMs to get
get all the REMs

if you are playing vanilla nomads i would get two zeros to play as specialists (hackers or observers), a HMG intruder and a jaguar (or something to proxy a jaguar) so they can be best friends forever (cover the intruder with smoke, fire through smoke with the intruder's MSV 2 visor), morans, because its always neat to leave the middle of the table covered in fucking teddies, either a taskmaster or a kriza borak as your advancing offensive, and some suckers to fill in

troops of the banner, most definitively 3 or those niggers
a single invincible, a tiger soldier, and ????

not ko dali, that's for sure

Is the Kornak+Suryats core viable to build a list around?

Posting Garuda concept art for comparison.

Quad Missile Keisotsu or Haramaki?

I think part of the problem is how much the pose is leaning forward.
And in the middle of that dumb landing pose.

But it still looks like they tightened the gap the head and from the cylinder, which is unfortunate.

Beyond Icestorm gives me Kriza Mk12, so that’s good, and the base gives me one Spektr that could work as an observer.

How accepting is the community of proxies? I’d like to use the Spektr as a hacker since I’ll already have him, but the model is for the standard combi+mines profile rather than the hacker profile. Would this stand-in be an issue at your LGS?

Regardless, thanks for the advice. I’ll see what I can do with it.

I would rather the field Sogarat haris and have either Anyat in a core team to score mission objectives or an Oznat and her puppies

>one Spektr
proxy the spektr as a zero, in my opinion they are just as good as spektrs for button pushing
>How accepting is the community of proxies?
the makers of the game encourage it because not all profiles have minis

>proxy the spektr as a zero
Can do. Will the drop from WIP 14 to 13 not bite me in the ass, or is it just not worth the 12 extra points?
>the makers of the game encourage it
Very good to know, thanks.

A Kornak, Suryat, Raktorak Haris is pretty nice and not too heavy on points/SWC.

Spekters are harder to detect without special equipment (Sensor in active turn, MSV2 and MSV3 during both active and reactive turn), if you plan to use either for objective scoring you should deal with those first since neither of the countermeasures for camo care about the Spektr's kit being more elite, both the Spektr and the Zero can brick TAG using surprise shot and their assault hacker options
the spektr is only slightly better because of its 14 WIP, but 13 is alright, the TO camo is better is your later intend to go and fight support troops on your opponents side of the table rather than just scoring mission objective since TO is better at evading attack than regular camo

For hackers, yeah basically. Hacking rules are often left off initial games since they're easily separated from the main ones.

Every unit in the Haqq starter can be a doctor, the Ghulams don't even need to proxy as different guns.

They could do Zuyong similar to how the ASA starter works, with only 2 combis and special weapons packed in. Other than that I'd say Shang Ji and a new thing.

Haramaki. Keisotsu are undeserving.

I don't think I've ever used that spektr as anything other than an assault hacker

Never really got the Spetkr hate. They can't be that different to Malignos and Croc Men, and those fuckers are great. HD allows you to set hacking traps and stops them being easily hunted if you go second, but even going first being able to clean out the competition more easily is very nice. Though no mines on the AHD admittedly sucks when there's no d-charges to compensate.

they are not bad, but if you want a camo unit to score objectives the Zeros do almost as well costing a fraction of what the Spektrs do
you might also field your two Zeros as FOs and then a Spektr hacker for the actual cyber warfare, if you anticipate killer hackers on the other side of the table it really doesn't hurt to support your Spektr with a Lightning Interventor and a repeater network

I love the spektr assault hacker, but I live in a little bit of a pain train meta, so he can really shine in about half of my games with his hacking ambushes

Hidden deployment is hilarious fun though.

Planning to get into the game, after a little research I'm trying to decide between Haqqislam and Nomads. Anyone willing to redpill me on either one?

Thanks for the input

Does anyone have any fluff regarding Earth?

I believe it's turned into a tourist trap as most of the human population left due to the abundant opportunities on the other worlds.

Uh...very roughly:
Haqqislam is slightly bent towards biowarfare (viral weaponry, pheromones), light infantry (mobile, low armor) and impersonation ("I'm actually one of you!" -> stabs) focused. They're sort of golden-age reformed Islam with their own hassassin force for silent murder, or the Qapu Khalqi when you need a more forceful touch.

Nomads are more MI (more heavily armored, slower) and hacking/shenanigans focused. They have a scary-mobile heavy flamethrower bot, one of the best hackers, one of the best offensive-snipers, the most accurately-landing paratroopers (with repeaters, to help you hack more) They're a bunch of prisoners, rebels, punks, and castoffs that live in a few giant spaceships and oppose ALEPH, the "big brother" AI.

These are not hard mechanical bent - Haqqislam has plenty of heavier infantry, they have a giant scorpion mecha, etc, and the Nomads have werewolf-esque things that charge up the map or their own heavy infantry with HMGs and stuff. Most factions can do most things, they just do it a bit differently. Very much try to favor what is aesthetically interesting to you.

The RPG's got a section on it and the rest of the Sol system.

A lot of people left it to go to space. It's still an important industrial base, but it being splintered between dozens of powers instead of dominated by one means that the big guys don't want to put too much stock in it. PanO and YJ are right next door to each other in Asia and there's also lesser powers like Nigeria, Russia and the old USA to contend with, so it's not very politically relevant anymore. PanO/YJ cities tend to be ghost towns, since billions of people just up and left over the years.

Haqq likes fuckery. They have holoprojectors to disguise troops or make targeting them difficult, lots of disposable cheap shitters who can trade hits with more expensive dudes opponents, fancy viral ammo that hits BTS instead of ARM, extremely common and reliable doctors, and near-unique unit type called impersonators that start in the opponent's DZ and can wreak havoc.

Nomads also enjoy fuckery, but of a different type. They're more interested in locking down the board with extremely nasty ARO turrets, walking mines, and the best hacking network in the game. They also get a bit more tech than Haqq, and like their weirder units to be more about support and objective work rather than just being supremely annoying.

I never asked for this.

haqq are stupid broken, play them and buy ghazi

that's literally all you need to do

Just reset, CC them, or shoot them. LOL.

muh orders

Also previewed, and not to the mention of others in the last thread, an Irmandinho.

Stealth mode, nigga.

just get both. it's where you'll end up eventually, might as well get a head start.

Is this what happens when memes become reality?

I was one of the first people to start bitching about Ghazi getting smoke and it's still bullshit, but they don't make the entire faction broken. Even Posthumans don't break their faction, aside from the internal balance side of things. To break an entire faction you'd have to do something truly crazy, like remove the primary downside of their fancy unhackable HI and give them a ridiculous one-use super shield, maybe even introduce a highly powerful and point efficient HMG and ML that laughs in the face of what was originally supposed to be a weakness in long range combat. All fucking lettuceheads must fucking hang.

I think it's that the wings and drum assembly is tilted up for landing.

...

How will they fix the Securitate? Odd links like the Brawlers get?

>will they fix the Securitate? Odd links like the Brawlers get?

I think there's several options: the first would be to reimagine them as LI line troops, by changing the unit profile completely. The second would be to make them a second Haris option (alongside what we can safely assume the Grenzers will have), still altering their kit slightly, giving them a few interesting profiles like an Engineer to differentiate them from other similar units. The third option is to keep them mostly as is and to throw them into mixed links, perhaps with Grenzers or with whatever the Tunguska grunts will be.

Turn them into real line troops. Relegate repeater to one or two specific profiles, drop the light shotguns, give SSL2 to an entirely new (unlinkable) unit and restructure weapons around shorter range encounters to take better advantage of that repeater.

I love that image

How does this Acon list look?

Anyone tried the RPG yet, and if so thoughts?

It looks quite complicated to me on first impression, but then so did Infinity itself.

Pic (mostly) unrelated

that is a really nice crocman and kanren model. no idea what to do with the muslce dude or the nomad though.

With the reduced combat groups rule this season, is the number of combat groups open information?
Lets say I have a second group with one model that's in hidden deployment Seems a bit odd telling my opponent I have an empty combat group.

I've been out of the game for a while, but I'm hoping to start playing again soon. However I'm quite rusty on the rules. Are there any tutorial videos or similar things which are good for reacquainting yourself with how things work? While I do read rulebooks, I often find listening someone to explain things helps solidify it in my mind, or remind me how it works if it's been a while.

Just hit infinity learning in YouTube.

>muscle dude(female)
>what could senor massacre posiibly proxy as in nomads

user, are you okay? Also they are a different scale than infinity unfortunately.

There's a lot of different options though, I was curious if any were recommended or to be avoided.

The ones with Carlos are fine, he's the owner of CB I think.

Nope, he is just a small cog on the machinery o corvus belli.

Yes its open info. If you print out the courtesy list itll show a blank second group. Its like going full camo lists and just handing over a blank page.

If the female Janissary took off her helmet, what kind of hair will she have underneath?

Shaved. She's a slave, after all.

ok did not know this was a female.looked male to me with all those muscles. Still don't know who could use it, the model is too big for a vulver. Counts as fem McMurder, or something like that.

I know that senior is a nomad model, the thing is he already has one, and no is going to buy a model they already have.

did not know about the scale either. But then again my croc fem is really small, and asians tend not to be huge dudes either. so maybe they will fit anyway.

>my croc fem is really small
IIRC Aristeia models are larger than Infinity ones.

They are much bigger. Maximus is the size of a TAG, his Jotum shield hilariously dwarfs the actual Jotum shields.

Not the owner, he's a different person (I don't recall the name correctly). Carlos Lauger/Bostria is more of a spokesperson.

>Maximus is the size of a TAG
have you ever seen a TAG

Some kind of helmet hair going on

Either add 3-5 points and give them ODD or Mimetism, give them exotic equipment (like a perimeter weapon) and Haris linking ability with a fancy unit or two (anywhere from a simple remote to a Kriza Borac), or simply remove the light shotguns and sixth sense to reduce their points significantly.

Shaved, short hair, or a really right braid.
