Hey, mega-user - could you post a direct link do faggotkin battletome and path to glory? I think it's a good idea to put it into OP post with the GHB17 etc

2nd for comfy seraphon

just looking at the nurgle tome, does the contagion points summoning cost reinforcement points too? i'm guessing it does since it doesn't explicitly stat that it doesn't.

Post moar

Yes, you are using CP only to summon the ugly tree iirc

i dont see why it would, when you could just summon shit without using contagion points at all

it does, although the trees are free

Stone/moss Seraphon look so good it really makes me wish I had gone that route.

looks good user. either you did some research or randomly chose good stuff.

you could go for a unit of 4 mournfang on that 1k and 1.5 list if you wanted, but as far as purchasing you're right on track.

by the time you've painted and assembled your dudes and gotten used to the mechanics of your army by losing for two months the next ghb will come out and give us the buffs we need to be mid-tier viable instead of toilet paper for non-retarded opponents
r-right?

They do, but I expect it to change in GH2018..I bet Death will have new summoning mechanics too. Summoning is just garbage in Matched.

Newfag here. I'm currently painting a gifted SC! box of FEC, but while I love the lore the models haven't grabbed me. I'm thinking of getting myself the Skeleton Horde box. Is it a safe buy or would it be better to wait for Legions of Nagash to see if that introduces any new boxes or rules that'd change how I would want to organize my guys?

It'll be out in a month. Its unlikely they'll get too many new models, but waiting a short while can't hurt.

I can't imagine skeletons being a bad buy in anticipation for legions of nagash.

Are they really that bad? I mean, sure they're not top tier, but I thought having a bunch really tough, high wound/damage/mortalwound output monsters would make for a pretty decent army.

That's enough painting for tonight. Just metals left to do on the rider and probably some triangle edging on the hood and then the first Mournfang is done.

He looks silly, but it makes me giggle slightly. I think I'm going to enjoy painting up this army. Going to have to make multiple sacks of mushrooms to put on the Thundertusk now.

Should've given him a burning cross

Have you ever put your army on a shelf - doomed to collect dust - because of the rules change or because it turned out to not fit your game-style?

Not an AOS army, but I shelved my Mantis Warrior Space Marine army. I'm currently in the process of selling them, and its kinda painful since I did put quite a bit of effort into them.

As for why, several reasons.

The most prevalent one is that I wanted to start an AOS army to play with my friends, and I already owned Nids, GKs and SMs. I've also given myself a limit of 3 armies at most that I'll collect, otherwise I know I'll never finish painting them or get around to playing with them all.

Furthermore, I started the Marines mainly because I needed an army that could keep up with my WAACfagging friends. And, dont get me wrong, while I love my Mantis Warriors, choosing the army for the wrong reason is always a bad idea.

Also, because of my 3 army limit (and selling my nids or GKs was out of question), my choice was essentially

Mantis Warriors

VS

Bretonnians

Pretty clear choice desu

Technically I did that like ten years ago with WHFB when I bought the starter set of Dwarves vs Night Goblins. None of my friends wanted to play and I didn't see much point in continuing with them beyond that box, so it didn'y really leave the shelf.

4+ save 12 wounds at 380 points isn't exactly tough, and the whole army hitting on 4s means the damage is very unreliable.

not to make a potentially unfair comparison, but for fewer points look at the new GUO vs stonehorn, or even a troggoth hag vs a thundertusk. 30 vulkites are cheaper.

Low army-wound count, low model count, weak to hordes.
thundertusks are meme-tier, very good against 'new to the game' opponents who play wrong with their powerful 5-wound buffing heroes. overcosted and bad against anyone else.

hunter, cats, and yetis suck.

before the nerfs our d6 movement got thundertusks into range to hurt even careful opponents and stonehorns did very reliable damage hitting on 2s and 3s and stone skeleton kept them alive.

currently we're a good fight against dispossessed and mortal khorne, but will lose to any other battletome army of equal skill easily, and many that are running on just ghb17 abilities like gutbusters, wanderers, skryre, free peoples, death are better.

Guys, I got a new GUO.

What loadout is optimal? Most people seem to think a support role with the Bell and Bileblade is best.

What about Rotigus?

Where my Nurglebros at? I want some more opinions before I assemble this fat fuck

Having just started them, that's mildly discouraging to hear, heh.

yep, witch aelves. GW got rid of the only battalion that made them worth fielding.

i think it depends on the rest of your list.

sure the bell is cool but if you dont have a lot of units around it isnt helping much. Same thing for the +1 to cast dagger, if you arent depending on those casts for your army then it seems like a waste.

enjoy an excellent hobby experience while waiting for ghb18 to save us from the storm as it were

I play at 1k, I’d like to take Slimux and two beasts, obviously with mandatory Plaguebearers.

If Slimux doesn’t work out I’ll go with two Heralds and Plague Drones.

Right now I’m leaning towards Rotigus, I think harassing with Beasts plus Rotigus’ Deluge with unlimited range could work pretty well.

What's a good 2000 point list with nagash

>tfw need 3 boxes of infantry to make a 210pt unit
I'm having flashbacks. I want off this ride.

this is what im doing

trees literally everywhere
pirate captain and friends teleport in
GUO and plaguebearers because classic

im sure itll suck balls and lose a lot but I will have fun even if I'm losing.

just think about how much fun those three puppies will be to take turns retreating and charging every turn!

Is there even an eta on when GHB 2018 will come out?

Also as a general question, Ironjaws are pretty good right? If nothing else I can switch up the army to be those and use BCR as support in a general alliance list. Or just get a bunch of Savage Orruks.

as a IG 40k player I do sympathize with you

here you go guys. not only is slaanesh not squatted he/she/it is next up in the release cycle

painting videos = release right?

wtf he glued the rider on before painting

this guy is shit bring back duncan

I'm thinking of starting a seraphon army as my first army, found a box of saurus warriors from when I was a 40k kid, all of it is new to me but I'm enjoying the lore and reading about all the fun you guys are having making your own stories. Gotta ask though, where the hell are the points cost listed?

I would assume around the time the GHB 2017 came out last year.

What you nogs working on?

>SC!
>FE
>SCE!
FUCKING SOYCAST FAGGOT

Also I am Chinese suddenly.

...

Holy shit, that's not a bad idea.

Klan user, what'd'ya think?

Not quite sure I want to go for that angle really.

>paints his Klansmen in white robes and makes a custom converted fat good-ole boy ogre
>afraid to make them carry burning crosses
C'mon, man, you've already gone so far. Just go all the way.

I’m the same man, I’ve never been a power gamer.

I’m trying

Great Unclean One
Horticulous
10x Plaguebearers
10x Plaguebearers
2x Beasts of Nurgle

At 1K I think the trees will be fun.

What do you like for Daemon a Command straits?

I’ll probably take Pestilential Breath - one of my main opponents runs zombie horde.

It’s the Daemonic Boons I cant decide on.

Witherstave seems strong if you keep him near your Plaguebearers on objectives. Make them an even worse tarpit.

I think Bountiful Swarm could be useful for sniping problem weapons in a unit.

>Dixie is represented by obese retards obsessed with eating or green midget walking mushrooms
Appropriate

Goddamn if this thing doesn't make me want to make a Tomb King army.

I never noticed how the sides of his head are buzzcut. Bad ass.

Derp, I'm a retarded bonobo.

kek

>are ironjawz pretty good?

they are mid-tier maybe lower mid, but with casino mechanics. They have a low chance (per hero) of rocketing units across the board and a low chance of charging the opponent during his own charge phase (and maw krushing mortal wounds), so on average you're underwhelming, but 20% of the time you're tag team wrestling and breaking the rules.

No shooting and low magic, but god damn do they rip and tear in combat with their buffs (waagh and warchanter are amazing). smashin and bashin can dominate the activation game in multiple combats, often wiping out several enemy units in a row before they get to attack.

they got problems, of course, but their rules cause them to play in a very orky, fun way.

Yeah, Reaper's got some great skeleton models for playing around with. There's another Colossal Skeleton if you wanna run two Bone Giants, but the real star of the line for me has always been Dragoth. I mean, just look at this cocky piece of shit.

I wanna start sigmar with an army. Not sure what I should start with, ideally not KBB or death. I'd prefer something that likes to play aggressive though and probably something upper mid tier. Any ideas?

So what're the current army/faction tiers in AoS currently? Roughly at any rate.

because all nurgle daemons aren't able to be summoned anymore with the new battletome

>repl.it/Lfm3/2

So does anyone else notice that the free city generator isn't linked to the right place? warhammer-community.com/2017/09/26/make-your-own-free-city-the-easy-way-sep26gw-homepage-post-4/

Anyways, is there any lore about any of the Fyreslayer-specific cities and fortresses? What they're like and what they do? Besides hammer runes into themselves all day and gel their hair?

in no particular order within tiers, let me know if i forgot something

tier 1 aka 'expect nerfs':
KO clowncar
Tzeentch
khorne murderhost
fyreslayers
stormcast vanguard wing

tier 1.5:
mixed order featuring wizards & phoenixes but only when byron plays it
other Tzeentch lists
seraphon
sylvanneth
stormcast aetherstrike
mixed chaos featuring sayl
bonesplitters
wanderers if the TO lets you misinterpret the rules

tier 2 aka 'great or amazing with a downside':
mixed chaos goodstuff
nurgle but now who knows
ironjawz that cheat with dice
skryre
stormcast stardrake
pestilens

tier 3 aka 'viable':
gutbusters
free peoples
slaanesh
wanderers if the TO does not let you misinterpret the rules
death soup
flesh eater courts
ironjawz who use normal dice

shit-tier:
warherd, brayherd, dispossessed, beastclaw raiders, random other ghb-allegiance ability factions

best army in the game according to this one user even though no one plays it competitively whatsoever-tier:
tomb kings

>wanderers if the TO lets you misinterpret the rules
???

stalker of the hidden paths and wending wand technically don't say 'set up more than 9" from enemy units' although the language they use is quite clear they work like the allegiance ability and so have that restriction.

at the masters the TO rolled his eyes and said you can't vanguard-wing with wanderers.
at heat 1 the TO said sure, but specifically wouldn't let it on camera.

>interdasting.png

Holy shit, that's hilarious.

Whats wrong with Beastmen. And Slaves to Darkness.

Looking at starting a Sylvaneth army. I know, it's probs cliche as all get out now, but they do look cool as sin. I'm basing my starting army off of the list posted on 1d4chan, but want to know where I should go from here, or if I should consider changing it up.

(1k pts of Sylvaneth)

Leaders
1x Branchwych
1x Treelord Ancient

Battleline
20x Dryads
5x Tree Revenants

Others
3x Kurnoth Hunters (Bows)
3x Kurnoth Hunters (Swords or Scythes, don't know which I'd rather have.)

I'm just going to be playing friendlies with a buddy of mine, so I'm not looking to be hyper competitive or anything, just curious what you guys would consider solid places to go from here. Thinking of building the Ancient as a Durthu, because...Durthu.

Nothing's wrong with StD. They're perfectly fine. They are to Chaos what Freeguild are to Order. Nothing exceptionally shiny, but not bad, either. You can do just fine with StD without any real worries, though you might not be as competitive as shit like KO.

Beastmen on the other hand are just shit.

Just wondering what is wrong with Beastmen exactly.

Brayherd with Warherd allies are basically the old beastmen army. Whats bad about them?

pic related is the sylvaneth meme

good choice for army, it'll be fun to paint up, it works well on the table, and your list is solid. good work user.

scythes are better than swords statistically. enjoy buying wildwoods and trying to move dryads around inside their fiddly bullshit, their biggest downside.

Skaven make me happy and I'm very glad they survived the End Times the way they did. When are we likely to get a Verminus update?

tiny split up factions with bad warscrolls and few options for balanced lists and no real good tricks who don't accel in an phase. maybe a better answer would be, show me the best beastmen list you can possibly make and I'll tell you why it's disappointing.

Never likely.

More likely we will get a combined Skaven Tome like the upcoming Death one which makes more sense for them.

They just don't really have anything unique or interesting about them. Plus the Great Bray Shaman is built around summoning which while technically offerings your army a fair bit of diversity also ends up sucking dick in matched play because it's basically just a deepstrike that can be unbound.

The Herdstone that Brayherds get doesn't synergize at all with Ambush since they're supposed to be skirmishing but then also only get the Herdstone benefits if they're close by. Plus, Ambush ends up basically just being an inferior version of the Wanderer's similiar ability since all of them are forced to come in during the first movement phase unless you spent a Command trait to allow some wiggle room and you can't ever ambush away unlike Wanderers.

That's 1100 points unfortunately.

Anyone thinking about picking up the new CMON game just for the minis?

Uh Sure whats wrong with this list.

Allegiance: Brayherd

Leaders
Beastlord (80)
- General
- Pair of Man-ripper Axes
- Trait: Malevolent Despoiler
- Artefact: The Festerpelt
Great Bray Shaman (90)
Great Bray Shaman (90)

Battleline
30 x Bestigors (360)
- Brayherd Battleline
40 x Ungor Raiders (360)
- Brayherd Battleline
30 x Gors (210)
- Gor-Blades & Beastshields
30 x Gors (210)
- Gor-Blades & Beastshields

Units
3 x Tuskgor Chariots (180)
3 x Bullgors (180)
- Pairs of Axes
- Allies

Behemoths
Cygor (200)
- Allies

Total: 1960 / 2000
Allies: 380 / 400
Wounds: 189

those look fuckin awful

This is a really bad brayhers list. Not just because they are bad either.

Can you explain why? Rather then just saying it's bad.

>I (((play))) AoS but I get irrationally angry at non legacy models
>playing dispossessed/aelves/lizardmen is a core part of my personality

Is there a good way to run drycha at 1000pts for Sylvaneth? I feel like I never have enough dudes when I do

they look kind of shitty but that thicc bitch with the chains looks almost exactly like the drawing for the slaver career in WHFRP 2e.

What are you bad or something?

>all the tier 1 lists are easy to counter
>mixed order anywhere but trash tier
>no tomb kings
>seraphon not tier 1
>pestilens not in trash tier because slowmeleearmy
>nurgle was tier 2 before the battletome
>mixed chaos with sayl after they changed sayls spell to only effect slaves to darkness
Lots of terrible opinions there my dude.

Yes I am learning. Which is why I want to know whats bad about this list.

>dat sneaky Sam Hyde
What would be the proper army to spread World Peace?

To be fair, if Mixed Order: Frostheart and Wizards Edition wasn't good, why would it have placed 1st two years in a row?

Thanks man, I can't wait to spend all my money on Wildwoods. At least they'll make for good/decent all around terrain for this and other systems.

Good catch, not sure how I missed that one! I can cut back to just 10 Dryads, which puts me at 20 points under. Do you think 10 is enough for holding objectives and such for now, or should I consider dropping from elsewhere to get more bodies on the table?

From the advice I've been getting, you probably don't need more than 3 hunters in 1000 points and the bigger the unit of dryads are, the better they get for staying power. So, maybe drop 3 hunters and boost up to 30 dryads?

That's 950 points then, and also the list I'm considering too. 970 if you swap the 5 Revenants for 10 more dryads, or a full 1000 if you then run them as 2 units of 20.

So if you wanted to play Tomb Kings but really just wanted to play Scary Bone Monsters, how feasible would something like this actually be? I just love idea of playing with Bone Giants and Ushabti with Greatbows and all of a Necrotect's best friends.

Well, couldn't sleep and finished painting him. 3 more and the Thundertusk left to go.

Lmao

Why isn't the rider getting the white hood, too?

I decided to switch to brown hoods, since I don't particularly want the first impression for opponents to be Klansmen to be honest.

Once it was pointed out it was hard to not see.

Do you use an airbrush?

No, just brushes. Wish I had one, would make basecoats a lot faster.

So after putting up a poll on TGA for a bit and chatting with the people there, I may be picking Chaos Dwarfs over regular Dispossessed for my army, and here's why.
>their infantry is fantastic looking, whereas Dispossessed only have two good kits
>it's an army that people rarely see
>chaos allegiance means i get to play around with pretty much everything in their kit
>i get to take daemons, which i've always wanted to but never played chaos
>they kind of play how Dispossessed should if GW cared at all
Plus, all of the army lists that ended up taking the shit I wanted (gyrocopters, steam tanks, hammerers) all ended up looking hella unsatisfying. I even got a couple 'hey that's my list exactly' from some anons in the thread.

No lies, I'm kinda excited for them even if I know little about the lore. The models and their rules are what's selling me, currently.

What say you, Veeky Forums, you think Legion of Azgorh is my calling? You ever see someone play them or have you played against them? How do they do? I think one user once said they were wholly mediocre, comp wise, but I dunno how much faith to put in that.

What a pussy. You're runnin' the literal Klan who fight under the banner of Moonman. Just do it and be unashamed. Besides, you're not going full Stormfront and painting up your squigs ink black with big red lips. Or something, something, fanatic conversions with nooses.

What's your average yearly income?

If cost was part of the issue, I wouldn't play Warhammer, user.

As the user who made the joke, come on my dude, they were bone colored, not the pure white klan hoods. I liked the bone and brown hoods.

No worries, now they're brown and bone instead.

Same, I don't like how generic they look now. Every night gobbo has a blackish lookin hood.

>have no rules
>have to use mixed chaos allegiance rules that you could have spend to build the perfect soup in Age of Soup
>overpriced models
Dumb manlet poster.

Would you play with me if I converted these guys with some weapons to be ironjawz units?
I don't know if they would fit brutes or ardboys more, but I'm leaning more into brutes what do you think?
