No, it's an encounter box. It has models from two factions, so you can split it if you wish.

I told my friends I'd get them a box because they want to start painting and playing malifaux. They went with Leveticus' crew, which, from what I read, most of what's in his box are summons. I assume I should grab some other models for him, what are the ones I should be looking at?

It came, it got played, and it died locally. Wierd release schedules, permanent shortages of some boxes, it all kinda made the game just disappear.

It's heavily played locally, but it doesn't satisfy the lust for shitposting. Listbuilding is incredibly situational. Rules are mostly competent. Prices are mostly accepted as is by the community. The lore just isn't as expansive and memeworthy. It doesn't give as much room to funpost about theoretical converted army ideas you'll never actually pursue. People barely ever post miniatures, tables or battle reports, no matter what game.
Now combine that with an overall smaller community and Veeky Forums being an incredibly mainstream and 40k heavy board, and there's very little traffic generated.

He has a lot of choices with Pariah of Iron. A terracotta warrior wouldn't be bad to swap said upgrade out for Oathkeeper, and Ashes is never bad. You also have rock solid constructs like Joss, Teddies, and Rogue Necromancies to consider as well. For in faction models Sue, Johan, a specialist or a trapper, are often suggested.
