To be fair, those were very much modeled after Roman ones, just like the lightning and broken arrow motifs (the latter were probably lightning too - the idea was to say that Jupiter had their backs).

Tamiya paints really need to be thinned with Tamiya X-20 thinner. If you're okay with that, I think it's a little better than the FW equivalent.

If it's 'strong', like 90% alcohol, it should work. Tamiya thinner also has an acrylic retarder though, and it needs it because Tamiya paints dry quickly (and in an odd manner, imo, forming a film on top like curdled milk). So make sure whatever you use has a retarder or add some yourself.

on the right, shadows with tamiya thinned with alcohol (also flawless and durable)

Depends on how you work - it's true that Tamiya paints start to dry on you by congealing on top if you let it sit too long.

Gav Thorpe has some skills. I don't always like his prose but he does long-term setup pretty well.

Dorn has always been shown with and told about his rather plain weapons. He doesn't like fancy shit, he trusts sturdy stuff. Hence a chainsword and a bolter.

An eviscerator is just a big chainsword, and those things can cut up tanks.

Russ had at least two frost blades during the Heresy (chainswords with kraken teeth), but for some reason his model has a regular sword.

The problem is that he shows teeth. Just frowning would have been good but right now, as others said, he looks like he's trying to shit.

And Dorn is probably one of the few Primarch that fit with a static pose. He's a goddamn rock.

His armour looks a bit like Guilliman's.
