It all makes sense now

It all makes sense now...

As neat as that looks one good artillery shell or air support bomb and they are all dead.

That's why there are titans out there.
It also depend on who they're fighting.

Maybe their formation is solid enough to stand up to the artillery? They are like... ultra humans who beat everything ever because reasons, right?

Rogal dorn likes to fist things? Hardly news, or do you mean the bit where he gets his men killed because he "does not think like a mere mortal" aka is retarded.

>high tech future radar detects artillery coming at you
>crab walk in formation out of the way

Why do we need marines then if there're titans on the field?

Titans can't take buildings, only step on and/or replace them with a crater

Why do they need anything to do anything other than occupy when they have a fucking space navy and can easily establish strategic air superiority?

40k has never made sense.

Implying the bomb or shell wouldn't just explode on the top of the formation, leaving the literal superhumans below unharmed.

Why are there titans if there are buildings that need to be taken instead of flattened?

Because there's shit there trying to flatten the buildings that you need a titan to kill?

Because giant warmachines are cool.

If there are titans and titan-grade shit duking it out on one field, why are there Space Marines on the same field field at the same time, and on foot too?

Marines sell very well.

That works well when what you're fighting doesn't also have a space navy equal to yours or ignores your space navy by teleporting directly to wherever you want them not to be.

Marines would be pretty useless if you couldn't even destroy the enemy's navy

>crab walk in formation out of the way
holy shit that was way funnier than i expected from this thread

All that advanced tech and perfect training in service of retarded tactics.
You don't get more 40k than that.

To prevent enemy infantry with AT weapons from sneaking up on them and attacking their joints at point-blank range while they deal with the big shit that Titans are supposed to handle.

Combined arms is a thing for a reason.

But that would require them to not be standing in a big square formation in the middle of a field that isn't even near the titans they're covering.

>1 guy shoots his gun.
>The other 4 dudes behind him don't.

Gits won't.

>To prevent enemy infantry with AT weapons from sneaking up on them and attacking their joints at point-blank range while they deal with the big shit that Titans are supposed to handle.
That's why Secutarii exist.

Space Marines are meant to be a rapid shock-troop orbital strike force raiding from out of their drop pods, not marching across a fucking field of grass in formation.

Wouldn't it be better to put the marines inside some kind of metal box in this situation?

...

That's literally like tossing a hand grenade at Superman, and would have the same effect.

Except that's exactly what would happen if you tried that formation in an actual game.

This is a Boarding Shield, it is not used like this.

they do it, why do you think they do not do it?

Well done gentlemen

They are meant to be used to board space craft which often have narrow cramped corridors and a distinct lack of cover.

The titans are two battles over, you're just getting confused by their scale.

Most artillery airbursts so that could be effective versus shrapnel. Still a silly af idea, worthy of yellow smurfs

If all you want to present is armoured plates with guns sticking out, why not just use tanks instead?

Do they make the Curly "woop woop woop" noise while doing it?

Wouldn't make more sense for this to be an Ultramarine formation? You know, the chapter that is inspired by the Romans?

What's next? Bolt muskets?

>Walks sideways out of the way

fists truly are morons

Are you fucking retarded. Drop a few basilisk shells on a squad of Space Marines and see what happens. Yes, even in the lore.

>If there are titans and titan-grade shit duking it out on one field, why are there Space Marines on the same field field at the same time, and on foot too?
because they're basically the only infantry that can safely and successfully operate in those apocalyptic scenarios?

>Imperial fists

Since a battle cannon shell or its equal would have that effect, it's a very stupid formation. Not to say that its firepower would be very limited.

Dorn confirmed for being the most autistic primarch

>That's literally like tossing a hand grenade at Superman, and would have the same effect.
Why are they using that formation if they can resist artillery shots? Are they afraid of the wind?

it's almost like if 40k was fucking stupid

>NOT planing the next 4 ranks as AA fire.

>mfw someone still posts that

It's like this warm, fuzzy feeling.

>ITT: Grognards nitpick a deviantart image

>Can't get more 40k than that
The chronostrife says hi.

Why do armies in real life need infantry when tanks and bombers exist?
