The there a way I can paint my custodes captain to distinguish him from the regular men without breaking the lore? Could I paint his topknot and cape a different color like purple or blue?

technically all Custodes armor are one-off products, customized to their wearer, so you're free to paint your captain differently, and just say that he elected to use different colors.

Speaking of, I wonder what mark pic related would be. MkI is the proteus style thing from way back. MkII was the one for Epic, but it was closer to the later MkIIb kit (enclosed tracks and all). This is like MkIb, retaining the exposed tracks, but introducing armoured sponsons and an assault ramp. Can't tell if it has a hull mounted HBs or not.

We don't *really* know that much about their 30k organization, but we know of at least one sub group that wears black armor. In 40k they have a assload of different colors.

Whil I'd like to get the Armor Penetration and weapon type rules from 8th (plus maybe a removal of the distinction between MC and walker), everything else is better the way it was, in my opinion.

been listening to the audiobook for Path of Heaven and just like Scars, it's making me want to invest in some Scars.

I want to insert my own fluffy brotherhood with a larger than normal composition of Terrans (Scandinavians, Native North/South Americans and some Japanese)that haven't really adopted the Chogorian preference for speedy assault and hit more like a mechanized hammer, rather than a bunch of speeding jetbikes/ground bikes.

Scars was the book that got me into playing WS
Scars are fun, and I've haven't seen anyone else playing them except for a couple of others on here, as well their legion rules are generally useful (parkour cataphractii) but do lean on going fast 24/7.
The shattered legion RoW they have is pretty fun and an alright starting point for them if you already have another army.

Tried to do shoddy fluff to justify legion allies;
Heavily Terran, bitter as ever Iron Warriors follow their primarch into the heresy and end up sort of allying/absorbing also Terran and bitter raven guard who were pretty much just kicked out by Corax like the rest of the Terrans
Thinking of giving it a try for sake of complimentary tactics/an excuse to use units that aren't at all fluffy normally

Well, I mean, a terminator doesn't wear platform heels nor is the marine inside any bigger than a regular marines. Only real difference is the bulk and the torso box that comes over the head.
