Jace pushes a TON of varied wincons out of the format entirely, pushes every single control deck and half the midrange decks towards being the same homogeneous sludge.

The thing is that JtMS has a set power level that doesn't change regardless of what they printz. With SFM whenever they print another super powerful equipment card it could fuck up Modern because of the interaction with SFM. It limits design in a small way so they keep it locked up just in case and so they don't have think twice or a hundred times every time they design a new strong equipment.

I see average price for a single copy at 12 dollars. A playset is worth way more than 35.

While this is technically true, it's very very unlikely they ever print something on the level of Batterskull or Jitte ever again. Equipment are even being phased out now in exchange for vehicles.

They did list M25 as a reason, but Jace really doesn't seem format warping to me.

JTMS doesn't do shit to me, I play Tron. Just seems like a dumb decision to fuck with the format by unbanning a card that has traditionally warped entire formats around it, especially when Modern is the best it's been in years.

To somewhat defend WotC M25 was gonna sell out anyway and it's a limited run set. So this won't actually "boost sales."

However to turn around and give WotC a well-deserved kick in the balls, what it will do is make stores hike up the price of M25 packs and possibly make it harder to actually draft the fucking thing.

It doesn’t completely fuck over players. It’s a way to get more people to buy the set as well as make it so modern babies have to actually think instead of mindlessly windmill slamming their creatures and walkers with no thought of interaction. Jace will make people remember how to play magic properly.

I mean, Jace doesn't limit future design space as much as SFM does. SMF means they have to be really careful with printing equipment in the future, where Jace only really does what his card says he does.

I think unbanning Jace is a mistake either way since modern is in a good place. But who knows, maybe he isnt as bad as people think he could be.

Add in some discard since that's what Black does best. Remove a lot of evasion. Add dual lands/fetches, and bias more towards black since you need only one blue source. Add removal.

Living Weapon has already broken SFM as badly as it's ever going to be broken, user. The reason SFM got stupid in Standard/Extended was because it got Batterskull.

Any other equipment that would "break" SFM in a format would have to be strong enough to break the format in and of itself.

I just can't help but feel like JTMS won't have that big of an effect on the meta. I'm not looking forward to seeing him everywhere though with people trying their best to abuse him but can't.

Most equipment aren't "good" when held up the standard of Swords and Batterskull or god forbid Skullclamp.

Heck Bonesplitter is an almost objectively good equipment aping one of the best cheap Auras ever printed and it still doesn't impress next to those broken pieces of shit.

This. Equipments are unplayable unless their o good they have to be played. Take the mirrodin swords for example which are good but not broken and sees zero play in modern.sfm would actually make equipment playable.

With a second Amulet you can surely get a T1 with Titan, too. Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion and Slayers' Stronghold make for exactly 20.
