What's going on in your game?

Talk about your party members, give a summary of what your game's story is about and what's the latest thing that has happened.

Party is on a government-funded space adventure following a cyclic positioning beacon artifact somebody found. Basically taking them from one place to another with no apparent rhyme or reason.

Their latest encounter is trying to help out the 'natives' of an artificial world they stumbled across. Their ancestors uploaded themselves and became linked to various extremely tiny synthetic bodies, in order to escape the notice of the station's somewhat overzealous security.

In the process of trying to help them out, the party finds it necessary to disable the local security node. So to sneak in there, they've jerry-rigged some stasis pods to teleoperate the same nanite constructs as the natives and get the job done.

"I've heard of all sorts of bullshit people do with nanomachines in fiction, but never thought I'd be a faerie made of them." Was the quote of the evening for the start of this mess.

There's a necromancer with ambiguous morals and a shady past involving espionage and multiple secret projects and proxy wars. A simple potato farmer who is a veteran sniper being whispered to by a mysterious magical entity. The party's driver who used to be a cat burglar and is in a contract with an Elf god in return for magical powers. A grumpy, no nonsense fire mage who was a veteran of the same war as the necromancer and the farmer who is connected with an evil witch because of an experimental heart transplant he received. A young and ambitious Duchess who seeks to get glory and power. A soldier from an allied country who is becoming more and more disillusioned with the world but recently got a magical waifu. A young college student thrust into war and broken by the harsh reality of industrialized war. A young bard who is learning the art of healing because of his dead childhood friend. An artificial warrior who is discovering what it means to be human. An exiled mage from the country that the PC's countries are at war with. A magical researcher from the same country as the mage although since she wasn't exiled and joined the party prior to the war, she is caught between conflicting loyalties. Finally a Phoenix who is with the party because the necromancer hijacked his reincarnation and decided to stick with the party after the necromancer severed their contract because he liked the party.

Currently, the world is engulfed in the Great War and the party is returning to the New World to investigate how an enemy colony was able to stay supplied despite a year long siege by Imperial colonial forces and escort a relief flotilla to the starving citizens. They are fresh from fighting a proxy war turned full on total war in a small country to the south of theirs between their empire and DEUS VULT: the country.

Half the country's forests have been burned to a crisp by the DEUS VULT guys to flush out the fae that inhabit the forests, the original prince of the country was framed for an assassination attempt by the party and executed to be replaced by a young kid left in the care of a fae that the party forged an impromptu alliance with. Said fae has shown before that she has no reluctance to use mind magic and other methods to get what she wants. The DEUS VULT guys have been pushed back to their border so for now, by a surprise offensive and the party managed to zombify an angel sent by God. They managed to avoid a Crusade being called and ISIS tier insurgency from happening in the former DEUS VULT territory by clever use of propaganda against any potential insurgents.

Basically pic related.

Party is a combo of demon mercenaries, a human, and a fallen angel working for the minor lord of a Great House in the 9 circles of hell. They have just been tasked with finding his run away half human son.

Party's officially formed a kercenary group and was ordered to work with another group called 3-minute warning, formerly 7. Right now they're escorting a caravan and stopped at a town the older characters have been to before.

After seeing a town fair on, we took part in party games and entertained the locals, before one of the PCs actually asked why the fair was on. We were then informed that it was because a witch was being burned that day. Upon some of the party going off to try and save it, my Chaotic Good Tiefling ran up and Superman Punch'd a guard in the face, which is the exact freeze frame the session ended on.

It was a good session, although it's getting a little hard to do some more character focused stuff, I'm still having fun.

"Blackhawk Down but it's on Mandalore".

tl;dr
The party eagerly awaits the station's newest K9-Unit into the force

Were police officers in a medieval setting. A couple of the party members were afflicted with a poltergeists age increasing fear effect and needed to seek a temple to reverse it. A temporary replacement PC for one of them is coming next session, and one of the party members absolutely hates and is terrified of of their race, which are dog like in appearance. Hilarious Hijinks are to be expected.

May as well actually list the party, forgotten some alignments and subclasses. We're about level 5.

In the original group:
Cassian the Human Druid, often the most level-headed and almost always turns into a Dure Wolf

Braum the alcoholic Mountain Dwarf Cleric, often rides Cassian as a Dire Wolf for sick combos

Azaelthryn the pyromaniac High Elf Wizard, crippling overspecialised but fun to play with

Arterius the Human Paladin, currently has a magic sword which slays undead good, otherwise trying to be more noble by taking on an NPC apprentice, does a lot of sneaking and backstabbing, very high AC

And for 3-Minute Warning, the group formed of the new PCs:

Val the Dragonborn Bard, plays some obscure drum and is terrible with children, often smells like sulfur, former pirate

Killeus the Ancestral Guardian Tiefling, speaks in the third person, basically a fusion of Achilles, The Rock and Chris Benoit

And Max Power the Firbolg Cleric, large and the one really in charge despite what Killeus says

Fights over which edition of D&D to use and how non-D&D games are badwrongfun.

Player 1: "I'm really sensitive about other players being more powerful than me so I can only play D&D4e. Also I will miss 50% of all games and the other half I will be at least an hour late."

Player 2: "I'm a huge Star Wars fan but I refuse to play any Star Wars games, not even if you put in hours to homebrew them to my specifications. Also I want to play a superheroes game but can't stand M&M2e or 3e because someone, somewhere, can break the game."

Player 3: "I'm down to do whatever because I want to have sex with you so believe me if you wanted to play a 'game' of tie me up and whip me I would be down but I got a job out of town so no more games ever." *six months pass* "Ok I live in town again but I'm only free for game on days it is very stupid to have game on, ie Monday and Tuesday."

Player 4: "I am your girlfriend and I love you so I will play whatever game you want. But I will play it badly, and demand special treatment."

Player 5: "I'm a DM in another game so actually I'm your best player but I'm about as tired of this shit as you are and if it doesn't stop I'll disappear."

The party is actually currently completely split. They took a long rest after a hectic night and in the morning they all went off on their own to tackle various errands throughout the city and we all have a mutual dinner date with a crimelord later in the evening which is where we'll reconvene.

The Lore Bard is investigating rumours of an elf in the city whose description matches bad news from his backstory. Haven't got any detail beyond that since the player had to drop temporarily over the summer.

The Kensei went to our current base-of-operations to talk to some NPCs and such. Arrived to find blood everywhere, ran into 3 Shadows, and is most likely dead after he attempted to fight them solo instead of running and finding the rest of the party.

The Beastmaster (me) took a trip to the local police precinct to acquire an open carry permit for his weapons and browse the available bounties to pick up some coin. Is currently running with a police attack dog and plans to use the reward money from his current bounty to purchase it permanently down the line.

The Storm Sorcerer has actually not met the rest of the party yet (new player). Their story began on a merchant vessel bound for the port city the campaign takes place in, when a terrible storm wrecked the ship. The only survivors were herself and the slaver who put her on the ship in the first place, and the two of them are currently engaged in a very tense boat trip toward the harbour on the horizon. Bringing the party together shouldn't be difficult, the Sorcerer's powers are very unstable and since the city doesn't like magic she'll draw attention to herself pretty quickly. If she gets herself arrested i'll run into her at the precinct or maybe i'll be issued a contract to bring her in, who knows. Should be fun.

Game got suspended over the summer (Uni Students) but should be starting up again sometime in the next few weeks. Exciting times ahead.

I don't quite follow the logic of what was done, but the quote amuses me and the game sounds cool.
How many fucking players do you have, dude? Also the DEUS VULT guys did the right thing. You don't want fairies setting up shop where they can subvert and kill your isolated communities.
Evil party?
Sick pitch, yo. Does it live up to it?
>which is the exact freeze frame the session ended on.
I like your style. Arterius sounds cool and the player sounds pretty engaged. I take it these were two games grafted together?
>Chad reeee
Nah I'm kidding. I hope you figure it out soon, dog. Player 1 sounds like a real drag, Player 2 just sounds confused. Hold onto 5 with all your might though.
>over the Summer
Dude it's February. I'm also confused as to how this game is run if you don't really know what's going with other characters. I'm curious.

The 'two adventuring parties working together' thing was just to introduce the new PCs for the people who left behind their old ones. My Lizardfolk Ranger, aka a Fighter with Survival skills, a whip and a crossbow, became a vigilante.

We're using like, the FATE systems compel and invoke with our personality traits for inspiration. We can invoke a trait to use inspiration and gain advantage, and compel traits to have a bad thing happen and gain a point. This is spread across traits, bonds, etc

Killeus' flaw is that he can make rash decisions, which has been EXCELLENT for breaking up super long party debates that really drag on

6 players but some of us play two or three characters. None of this is mentioning the NPCs that frequently join the party either. In any case, it isn't a question of who is right or wrong regarding the fae. The DEUS VULT guys and the PC's Empire are at war and the PCs needed all the help they could get to beat them back to their border, even if it meant getting into an alliance with the fae that gave the fae unprecedented control over the small country. No doubt it's gonna come bite us in the ass later when the war is over.

My players are a party of gunslingers in employ of the newly recognized goblin nation hunting down the inheritance of the goblin president's deceased lawyer brother. Only two are actual goblins - the rest are various criminal elements who fell in together during violent exchanges. They are currently ignoring the job they were hired for to hunt a dragon in the lizardfolk counters deep jungles.

>Dude it's February
Southern Hemisphere.

The party isn't normally so fragmented, it just happened that way during our most recent session as the party had no immediate pressing concerns and everyone had different things that needed doing. The Sorcerer is seperate from the rest of the party because they were literally just brought into the game.

The key to running the split party is making sure that there's an established place and time for them to meet up again. This ensures that the party never remains split for too long (provided you have good players that don't go out of their way to be non-compliant with this plan).

>Don't quite follow the logic
The initial logic for the natives? That's...partially a matter of ancient precursor races being a little loopy. "We're trapped with no resources in the visitor foyer. we need Resources from the rest of the facility. Let's just link our uploads to the service nanites" isn't the soundest logic, no. It's some kinda logic though, I think.

For the party is was more, get in there tiny and sabotage things when they can't be killed by the lesser response to their remote bodies. Or "try to fight a small ringworlds full blown defense grid" which was a non-starter.

I'm just running Tales From the Yawning Portal as a stall tactic while I get my shit together for an original campaign. The characters have been a parade of forgettable gimmicks, but I've been letting the players change characters as much as they want through this run in hopes that they'll get it out of their systems eventually. And also they seem to be having fun with it.

What module are you running? Yawning Portal has some really sweet stuff in it.

A bit of context: it the last few years I've been mostly running narrative storygames, and it was great, but I was itching for something more meaty. I set up a new D&D 4e game, and we managed to clock in a few sessions, and so far it's been a blast. Forgive me for the technicalities.
Current party
>Elf archer - used to be a poacher, now he's on a quest for redemption
>Eladrin paladin of Sehanine - she left her gilded home to take a break from the constraints of being a noble
>Human bladesinger - grew up amongst the eladrin and learned their ways, now wants to find his real folks
>Kenku bard - he's in it for the fun of it
The big theme that emerged during character creation is that they are all fighting for freedom, for themselves but not only. This meshed nicely with my campaign plans.

On their first outing together, the PCs agreed to help a skeevy dwarf merchant, who had been waylaid by goblin raiders. They followed the goblins to an ancient underground ruin, navigated it with success, and confronted the wizard who was behind the goblins. Surprisingly, they decided to capture him and bring him to the authorities of the nearest city (not murderhoboes, yay!). The real reason behind the attack was a strange and slightly magical tarot card, that they are now bringing with them. It is actually a component of the Deck of Many Things, and it's not going to be the only one.
Back in town, the PCs were received by the lord of the city, who asked them to go and take a look at the situation in the nearby Barony of Harken, where something was afoot. After spending a couple of days meeting various colorful people around town, they left for the Barony.

(cont.)

The situation there is dire, because a small army of mercenaries and slavers are trying to take over the region, and are allying with the local tribes of monstrous humanoids to crush the resistance. So far the PCs have travelled the area, met up with a few of their former acquaintances, took contacts with the resistance, and had a couple skirmishes with the mercenaries. We closed the last game (session #3) with the PCs ready to plunge into the lair of a tribe of bullywugs who have been threatening one of the many villages in the area. If they get out alive, the next step they have planned is to try and convince the elves in the forest to lend a hand, but it's not going to be easy, since the archer in the party did not leave in good terms.

Just joined a rather generic Medieval-Fantastic homebrewed campaign of a gm I know. still had a lot of fun, its my very first campaign as a player
For now we are just mercenaries, which is a very prolific profession in the setting, it almost feels like an adventurer guild.
The party is composed of
>A hot headed warrior with a giant sword he is basically Guts who threathened the high priest that gave us a prophecy/mission to go to a foreign archipelago
>A young Dark Elf assassin who wants to discovers the world. She have a certain honor codes to not murders the weak and innocent.
>A wood elf merchant; the party face, quite friendly but he tends to lie and to embelish things a lot when interacting with npc's.
>A old and rusty pyromancer covered in charcoal and ashes, deals the most damage in the party but still tries to find non violent uses for his pyromancy (pic related)

In the first session we had to fight against horse mounted bandit before reaching a monasteries where we received a prophecy to travel to a remote archipelago. There we received a mission to kill giant worms, this led us to killing the Worm queen and make a shitload of money.
The other players are nice, the wood elf player made various drawings of the events of the session and we all had fun

Nothing, cause it was delayed another two weeks.

Goddamnit.

We’re taking a break from our main campaign to pick up another we had going on.
>Tortle Paladin who wants to fight big shit
>Aarakocra Open Hand Monk who is friends with the tortle, traveling to see the world and eat good things
>Wood Elf Hunter Ranger whose family and hunter conclave was wiped out by a dragon and is restless to adventure to seek out and prepare for the target of his revenge. Friends with the next guy who goes with him on tracking and hunting trips.
>Half-orc Ancestral Guardian Barbarian who was orphaned at a young age and fled his adoptive tribe to practice the culinary arts after discovering the orcish god of cooking. Adventuring to raise money to buy the burned remains of his dead family’s restaurant, who have returned from the spirit world to aid him.
>Half-Elf Wild Magic Sorceress who has a serious case of chunni and impulsively spends any cash she gets. Fell in love with a demon and wants to spread his name. Tagging along because the Barbarian’s cooking saves her from her usual near-starvation.
Our party received word of a forward operation in a newly-discovered underwater dead civilization. We signed the contracts and rode a magically-propelled ship into the deep blue. We were attacked by sahuagin on the way down but easily defended our new beneficiaries. After disembarking was he dragon from the Ranger’s backstory revealed itself to have infiltrated the region to cause havoc and flew away, goading us to follow.
Absolutely love our party. We spent like 45 minutes just talking amongst ourselves like the good friends our characters are.
Yo your campaign sounds really fun, wish I could play.
