A local wizard is asked to assist in the creation of a spooky event for the kids in accordance with a holiday.
What might you expect this wizard to do?

Animate a bunch of jack-o-lanterns together into a friendly golem called the Pumpking, who invites the children to his court to participate in a feast. The feast will have all sorts of spooky decor, and those classic creepy Halloween treats like skinned grapes that look like eyeballs, stuffed peppers that look like brains, and chickens that were murdered so that people could eat their flesh.

Gate to hell. Works every time.

I mean first we gotta ask what kind of holiday and when it's happening. Jack O'Lanterns don't work to well for a holiday happening in march after all, doubly so if it's ment to be a relatively solemn one.

That said if it were the traditional Halloween-style end-of-autumn harvest festival, I'd second this idea and expand upon it. Put on a big elaborate Court of the Pumpkin King, where the kids dress up in costumes to participate in a massive feast inside a spooky ruin. Lots of creepy treats like above, but also sugar skulls and various sweet breads and candies. Have it all served to them by scarecrow waiters and courtiers, and set the place up with all kinds of classically spooky decor. Have shit like a scarecrow-golem that looks like a spider serving drinks, or a talking sugar skull perched on top of the center of the banquet table telling ghost stories.

Then, midway through the evening once everyone's gotten their fill and had a good time, the Pumpking makes a big speech about his bounteous coffers and all the fun they're having, but notes that the other villagers who aren't here are missing out. So he bids to be his vassals for one night and go out into the town, sharing candy and sweets and spooky spirit, and enlisting more to their cause. Try to swing it so it turns into a big old parade, and in case the kids run into danger the scarecrows can protect them.

At the end of the night, the Pumpking gathers everyone together and bids them a fond farewell, and then you make them, the decorations, and the rest of the animate staff vanish in to the night.

>magic circle
>summon greater demon
>planar binding
>greater invisibility
All set!

>Necromancer
Knows this time of year that the barriers between the material world and the after world lessens and begins to inquire with the local spirits of the area and finds the soul of a kindly old man who likes to entertain the kids. Asks him if he'd like to particpate this year and provides a vessel for him to act from (a latern) so he can do spooky things like random light or turn off lights and move stuff around and make noises

>Illusionist
Asks for use of an abandoned stable and goes to work rearranging things inside and makes use of various illusion spells to create different effects like things moving in the shadows and skellies

>Druid
Calls the various animals that live in and around the barn and asks them to help in this particular season so the mice and rats move around in special made pumpkin heads and the cats randomly move around sheets with strings for various effects.

That said, all three probably work together for maximum comfy

Refuse because the "holiday" is actually an act if cultural invasion perpetrated by the Evil Empire

That's pretty damn potentially comfy. The idea of summoning up a kindly ghost grandpa makes me happy.

Don't forget the rest of the party.

>Fighter
Being the strong type he or she is they are playing the roles of one of the monsters. Having been dressed up in rags and chains by the illusionist and the bard they are one of the two monsters that stalk the kids as they are lead through the spooky barn house

>Monk
The other monster that haunts the kids. Drawing inspiration from their home land they get a wig of long black hair and carve an oni mask and leap around the rafters easily while the mice move lamp lights for dramatic effect.

>The Bard
The bard is naturally hamming everything up leading the horse drawn cart with the kids around and waving his sword at the "monsters" to keep them away.

>Rogue
Spends the entire fucking night, and I mean the whole thing, reverse-pickpocketting candy and coins onto the children. Lost half the party's wealth after mistaking the group's funds for those foil-wrapped chocolate coins and just passing out platinum piece after platinum piece.

Fantasy halloween thread?

Carve Rune Of Fear in the empty house's door, put some candy in the attic.

Fantasy Halloween thread.

Cast fear or horror on them.

>warlock

Bargain off some children souls for your patron's favors, get your imp minion to scare them too.

Illusions and conjured treats, mostly.

It makes me sad to know I will never experience this parade.

Phantasmal Killer and a whole shitload of resurrection scrolls

>for the kids
Ghost sounds, Illusionary walls, web. Level 1 summoned badgers they can pet. Keep it simple.

Even... just mirrors. Yeah, kids will get a kick out of these crazy mystical representations of "false life".

...And Geas a random child to get the MOST candy by midnight. Preferably one dressed as a paladin.

That's more like how the cleric celebrates holloween.

SEE CHILDREN! THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR WORSHIPPING PAGAN GODS! A TRIP TO HELL! YOU'RE LUCKY I BROUGHT YOU BACK YOU damn little whippersnappers. Yeah, you better get your ass to church next sunday.

>Druid
Dude would MASTER the spooky wagon-ride.

First off either he or his mount IS the ride. And they go through a spooky forest with ents that jump-scare the kids. And they have chainsaws.

>Necromancer

It's practically a holiday entirely dedicated to this guy. This motherfucker BRINGS the day of the dead.

>you will never get to play a pumpkin headed ent or scarecrow
Why even play?

>Wizards lights some smoke bombs.
>kids unimpressed
>The wizard opens an enchanted bottle containing an ancient spirit.
>spirit goes around making mischief in the town and the party needs to play ghostbuster.

I'd like something spooky but wholesome. Like a Nightmare before Christmas kind of deal, or similarly Luigi's Mansion. Spooky yet harmless, yet also very sinister the longer you think about it (for the more macabre teens and parents who want a good spook). Thaumaturgy, Illusion spells, and lots of low level, non-damage dealing spells or abilities being thrown about. If there's a haunted house, have someone play the role of a Guide who shows the kiddos through safely, while pretending to be scared shitless themselves (ideally a really good Bard). Other than that, have the cooks prepare appropriate food for the spooky holiday and make sure everyone has a good time. Then cast he begins the Cultist Ritual
