Self bumping
What i meant as very dangerous, is that there are only legends of a single person defeating them, most of the time they need the help of armies or other stuff
Well, there's Middle-earth for starters. But if you're doing that right your party will never even encounter a dragon.
>Is there a low fantasy setting where dragons and other monsters exist
No
why?
Yes, there are. Almost all low fantasy settings have mystical creatures.
And I’m talking about both actual low fantasy and the way the term is used casually for “low magic.”
There are very few of them ever mentioned, and the ones that are were promptly killed by someone else
just make your own
I want to see one :(
You already have a picture in your head.
Hackmaster and Rolemaster are two generic systems that come close to that. There's several Call of Cthulhu supplements that are about the middles ages and Roman period that fit what you are looking for to a "T." Combine that with some of the compatible BRP supplements and you are playing with fire. Also, Ars Magic and Pendragon come close to that description as well.
There's Harn, which I know nothing about. There's also Fighting Fantasy's Allansia, which is low to mid-fantasy, I'd say. Warhammer does not count, but there are huge gaps in power level between the battle game and the RP game, so it is easy to get *that feel* you describe. Those are the ones I can remember.
>Cthulhu Invictus - A Sourcebook for Ancient Rome
>BRP - Magic World (Revised)
>BRP - Magic World - Advanced Sorcery
>BRP - Enlightened Magic
>Basic Roleplaying - Mythic Iceland
All good suggestions.
Best used in conjunction with each other. Use the Mythos monsters, the magic from the source book, the legal and magic rune magic from Iceland, and any additional martial/combat maneuvers you can find. Rome for its awesome societal breakdown.

>Fixed
Would you say magic world is better than Mythras classic fantasy?
Totally different system even though it uses a D100. Significantly more crunchy with a lot of modifiers. The BRP stuff is relatively simple by comparison and all the books I listed are compatible with each other. Magic World is a lot like Stormbringer (Elric) with the serial numbers filed off, however it has more options than Stormbringer did as it's generic fantasy module. As to which one is better, that's a matter of personal taste.
Does it have hit locations?
Arthurian? I dunno what Pendragon is actually like as a system though.
Yes
First edition DnD?
Disregard what I just wrote. I thought you were talking about something completely different. BRP is compatible with Mythras and it looks like the system has a hit point/wound system or hit location as optional rule selections.
Non that come to mind, but just take X setting and use X system and tell your players they can't use ballics classes and cripple their stats, either use a low point point bye system or just roll 3d6, or even 4d6 but remove the highest number (instead of removing the Lowest).
Then let your players fight monsters just above their CR or give the monsters a slight buff. +2 to attack/dmg/ac/ect will be more than enough (adjust depending on your desired outcome.)
Do you know where i can find this pdfs?
To further to that. The hit point system with wounds is the one presented as default for Storm Bringer, Cthulhu Invictus, Magic World, etc. That's why I was confused. I'm not terribly familiar with Mythras other than knowing about its complexity.
Yes, but I won't list the information here because I don't want the archive to get damaged as its a very high quality one. So, instead I'll post a link to temp email address that you can email with any email account you own, and then I'll send the link to your account with mine after getting your address from the temp address. Or to make it simpler, you can just publicly post a disposable account here (yahoo is a good choice) and I'll send the link to that address. Just remember, don't share the link on any public sight or forum post. Both to prevent piracy and destruction of the rich archive. If you don't' feel like messing with all that, just try your luck with google.
If its a zip full of dolphin porn someone is going to be very mad.
I'm being serious. It's my favorite archive so I'm hesitant to do even this much. Don't spill the beans as it's precious.
The email address is going to destroy itself in 10 minutes. I'm not keeping it open forever, so good luck. If you don't make it in time, oh well.
Fuuu i was taking a shit, sending the mail now
Done
Enjoy your Dolphin porn. Again, don't share it through any unsecured forum. That archive is gold.
Will never share this link, i know how valuable this stuff is, thank you very much, i love dolphin porn.
Also, the usual, check your spam folder. It's an email only containing a single link and some providers don't like that.
Already received it, thanks!
No problem. As you can see, the archivist has extremely good taste. The best selection of games imaginable, nearly product line complete, and all high quality. This archive is technically on the PDF archive list, but it's somewhat hard to find (there's only one link and it doesn't mention anything else outside of one game line!), which is a shame because it's one of the better ones. Also, the PDFs are all direct downloads with no bullshit. Even better than Megaupload. There is one thing you should keep in mind. It's the list on the left doesn't have everything listed (the PRG line for instance) so you need to click on the top most left folder to see the true list, and there's a lot of additional systems hidden within other systems. So don't be fooled, it's much larger than it appears at first.
>the PRG line for instance
Sorry, meant BRP.
Fug I missed it.
It's in the main PDF archive, but you'll have to find it. It's called Remuz's archive, but I don't remember what game or link its under, sorry.
I searched for it and nothing, the archives are too vast.
Pendragon player here, the system is a harsh mistress and highly lethal at times (critical hits).
Fantasy creatures require you to test your valorous personality trait to even face them.
Knights on horseback are murder machines and cut down footmen by the dozens (exception: pikemen).
The default setting is decent enough, but to play it 'serious' you will have to read thousands of pages of supplements that deal with your neighbourhood alone.
If you're playing a d100-game dragons and other monsters will be very dangerous by default, regardless of setting. Mythras' own Monster Island, Thennla and that anonymous "Realm" of theirs fit. Pirates and Dragons for Renaissance and the Cthulhu Invictus/Dark Ages might be up your alley.
Do you consider the Warhammer-world to be low fantasy? Same with Middle Earth and the Mythic Europe as presented in Ars Magica.
And if you want close-to-no-fantasy there is Mythic Britain, full of blood and mud. Only dragons there are spirit dagons. Pray you never meet one.
Search its name (what I posted earlier) on google in conjunction with the word A R C H I V E. It should be the first result. Remember, never fully repeat it or list it on a public forum. I'm tempting fate myself right now.
Oh, I tought you mean the pdf share archive. Now I feel a bit silly and thankful (found already) thanks bro.
No need, I already have what I want. Some things I'll gladly pay for.
I did, but the name is distinctive enough to bring it up on google, which makes me reemphasize my early warning. I've said too much as it is. Hopefully the wrong pair of eyes doesn't read this thread. We should be safe from crawlers at least.
>Some things I'll gladly pay for.
Good. That's the point of the archive. To promote and preserve, not to share endlessly.
I'm still surprised no one has adopted Dark Souls or Monster Hunter to BRP. The Rolling and side step are only greater versions of dodge and fits the settings and system fit.
Fucking Captcha.
Lord of the Rings would do, specially in the early Gondor and Anor eras.
mmm cuthulu invictus sounds nice.
