Played a game with the mighty Slug Rider that is Horticulous Slimux - he's surprisingly good.

Nth for terminators are good but not optimal enough to make it into tourney lists or netlisting.

Xth for Hanrik did nothing wrong

*blocks your path*

creed did nothing wrong

Which books do I start reading for the nu-Imperium story arc with Guiliman?

...

laughs in superior terran technology

>tfw one player at my store started a new army
>Imperial Fists Terminators lead by Lysander
>just Terminators of different variants, Lysander, and Land Raiders
>the Land Raider has a battery and LED headlights
>all the terminators and Lysander are based on foam painted tiles so they can slot together almost like rank and file
>the fist symbol is hand painted well
He has so much fucking talent
I'm a little jealous, he picked Fists because he likes them, he wishes they had better rules but he does pretty well for himself in LGS Tourneys.

Playing not spiky marines and I want to expand my dreadnought numbers. I have 2 boxnuaghts, an ironclad, and the betrayal at calth contemptor. What else should I get?

*actually blocks your path*

I thought those tanks looked awful, they look pretty good in that pic. think it might be the FW painting style that made me dislike them

POST YOUR GAMES
POST YOUR DUDES
POST WHAT YOURE WORKING ON

Trying to sell my Ad Mech.

People offering me a pittance for them drive me nuts.

look out it's the sexiest Imperial vessel!

>jetpacks over

big fan of cardiff castle are we?

Firestorm Games is cool

How do I use my Tacticals effectively?

>not a Retribution class battleships

sit on objectives and snipe with their lacannon.

What's it like to play guard these days? I have a sizeable army I haven't touched since 6th edition. Is it spam spam spam or do the new regimental tactics and orders really hammer the army out to be a super tactical "your-dudes" army?

scouts or intercessors are better troop choices

...

Its difficult to do because they're a poor unit overall.

Play against bad opponents and blindside them

Plasma + Combiplasma, in an AssCan with a Captain nearby.

For BA at least, Sang Guard take up a lot of the Terminator conceptual space. And then for TH+SS assault terminators, I have to choose between them and vanguard vets. Basically all they've got going for them is the teleport homer, and that's not enough. I have a stratagem for that that requires no forethought or planning.

Came up with this list from what models I have. Thoughts?

Iron Hands Spearhead + Vanguard Detachments 2000/2000pts

Spearhead
HQ:
Techmarine: Power Maul, Power Axe (Axe of Medusa) 62pts

Heavy Support:
Devastators: 4x lascannon 165pts
Land Raider Crusader: Multi Melta 335pts
Relic Leviathan: 2x siege claw with meltagun 308pts

Vanguard
HQ:
Librarian: force sword 96pts

Elite:
Redemptor Dreadnought: Heavy Onslaught, onslaught, 2x storm bolter 206pts
Relic Deredeo: Autocannons, automantic pavaise 237pts
Venerable Dreadnought: Twin lascannon, DCCW with storm bolter 182pts
Venerable Dreadnought: Assault cannon, DCCW with storm bolter 154pts
Assault Terminators: 3x TH/SS, 2x twin lightning claws 255pts

Place in Cover, camp objectives, snipe with whatever special or heavy you brought.
I love tacticals and take them every time I run SM, because it's ultimately what the game should be about.

a mere gondola, trouble me not with such insignificance

I dropped a tree in the center of the table and used it to turn my Plaguebearers into a nightmare (with support from a herald and a scrivener)

Take advantage of terrain, run a combi plas, plasma gun, and plasma cannon. Have a captain near by, and hunt medium threat units

God damn there's a lot of 'invest fuckhuge points into this mediocre unit to make it good' going on in this thread.

>how dare you want to make your dudes be decent

I feel like non-specialized infantry in elite armies are irrelevant this edition with detachments letting you pick the cream of the crop

Oh shit a goddamn AdMech vidya game.

youtube.com/watch?v=9gIMZ0WyY88

Wish there was more info on what kind of game it actually is though. Sounds strat rpg-ish, especially as the devs only other game I see on steam is a hex strategy game with rpg elements.

You can make your dudes decent but you could start with a better unit to start with and get a better ROI.

Forgeworld does have a habit of making models look like Ass with their paint jobs.
See Angelos.

>invest fuckhuge points into a poor unit to make it mediocre
Devastators are always strictly better than tacticals. You take tacticals because you have to fill your slots, you take devastators because you want to kill something with big guns.

Devastators aren't even that good, it's just they're better than the tactical trainwreck.

I have 15 tacticals but the rest of my infantry is entirely made of scouts, but I hate having parts of my army I can't use effectively

Laughs in Tank

Guardian Jetbikes?
Or poorman's Shining Spears?

Correct so why not invest in Scouts who have a meaningful impact on the game by being cheap effective screening units. If you have to fill minimal slots take the best choice you can.

>on the outcome of the mission, in this turn-based tactical game.
>Make tough decisions that will forge the future from your Ark Mechanicus, The Caestus Metalican, and send you towards alternate endings for a truly unique playthrough.
>Upgrade your Tech-Priests limbs with mechanical augments
Sounds like an XCOM style top down strategy game.

Poor shining spears

Just don't take the tacticals.

I'm not one of the people using tacticals. I'm just pointing out you can't make tacticals good, and you can't even make them better.

its being made by a small company that specializes in mobile tier garbage don't hope for too much

Still don't know what skin color I want for the helbrute but I'm glad with how it turned out on the bloat drone.

...

>those conversions

>[Laughs in Flail of The Unforgiven]

They looks good. Considering the GW Shining Spears have aged like a fine egg, and aren't even a proper kit, rather than an upgrade set, you've done pretty good.

Gotcha, then we're on the same page.

Isn't that a DAngle specific unit upgrade? What about all the non-gay terminators?

but I can't not take dudes I put time and effort into painting

...

>What about all the non-gay terminators?
They get fucked by everything and yet Dark Angels are the gay ones

Get a bigger collection, I have close to 4k in Chaos Soup and Eldar just so I've always got the right options.

I want to hope for the best. The idea of an AdMech strat rpg is too good.

Cheers, I'm pretty happy with how they came out.
I think I've gone through about two boxes of Guardians replacing the bodies on all my Jetbike riders, the default ones look like trash

My bikes are too old for me to buy the new ones too. Having a mix of old and new would trigger my ocd

Tacticals are troops, so hold objectives and shoot at other troops. Don't expect them to take down tanks and monsters with bolters

I had 10 tacticals absolutely decimate a unit of ork boyz in melee.
But then again they were all standing within 6'' of Pedro Kantor and a lieutenant, so that probably had a lot to do with it...

Pedro is underrated and absolutely beautiful

They're good for three things:
-Getting a Battalion for extra CP
-Being ablative wounds around a couple of Melta/Plasmaguns
-Sitting on objectives and forcing your opponent to waste shots killing them

What exactly is wrong with tactical?

used armies just aren't valuable. you'll probably get maximum return splitting into units and selling on ebay, but still expect about 50% rrp on the high side

People think they should be able to kill things

Their barely less points efficient that intercessors, therefore garbage in every way shape and form. Or so they say

Best model to use for a Dark Apostle for my World Eaters or for my Thousand Sons army. I dont play AoS so I have no idea if they have any suitable models.

It's great how Kantor turns your gunline units into their own counter-assault support. It's amazing how many people get caught by surprise when their assault units get charged and buried under tons of power armoured punches.

>tfw I'm sticking to 1000 points with my orkz until the codex comes out
I love em and everything, but the only viable thing being boyz boyz and more boyz sounds really boring.
I just hope the codex fixes some of this.

>getting a battalion for extra cp
Scouts do it better
>ablative Wounds for special weapons
Scouts can’t do that, except combi on the Sgt.
>sit on Objectives
Camo scouts do it better.

>No question mark
I guess thats just a statement of confirmation.

They have no damage output, no durability and aren't cheap enough to bulk out.

Too expensive to use as cheap bubblewrap, too little offensive capability to do anything meaningful themselves.

Camo scouts cost more than tacs.

*blocks your path*

go full dread/kan

Tankbustas, Rokkit Buggies, Stormboyz, Big/Mek Gunz, Battering Wagons, Dakkajet...

They aren't killy and because they're so common, and armies are built expecting to face a lot of marines, their toughness isn't helpful either. If you're expecting melee, assault marines/Intercessors are better (and assault marines are garbage), if you take a single heavy weapon, devastators are better. Scouts are cheaper, as shooty, and have additional tactical uses.

Their only role is to fill up slots for CP, and they're pretty bad at that, too.

Golden bois!

And are better.
Don’t do this

The only thing in this list they're actually good for is ablative wounds for special weapons. Scouts are better for cheap CP generation and intercessors are better for sitting on an objective and drawing out either twice the shots or absorbing heavier firepower from another target.

Cost more, only to equal tacs if you're sitting in cover. Don't take camo cloaks.

I feel like its a point in favour of the forgeworld model design team that the mharagal dread fucking unnerves me.
>Thumbs

This guy is correct, if you want to sit on an objective in cover an Intercessor unit is worth the extra 25 points.

Do it

Good counters to Wulfen?
Fought them for the first time in 8th today and they wrecked a squad of Anti-Armor Terminators I had on the field. I eventually just kept them tied up and kept smiting them, but I was wondering if there was a decent hard-counter once they get in close.

Probably a converted slaughterpriest/exalted sorceror respectively. I don't think Apostles are available to a Tson army anymore though.

>I don't think Apostles are available to a Tson army anymore though.

>checks his TS codex
Not in my book.

nothing can spam mortal wounds enough to kill them in an SM army. Nurgle or thousand sons might be able to deal with them but even then probably only the primarch would be able to

Not really, it's pretty difficult to be cost effective at taking them in melee.

Agreed

TSons can demolish Wulfen with shitty ass 7pt Tzaangors.

Raider to carry my wyches.

Tzaangors aren't shitty

Get them tied up in melee with a chaff unit, fall them back in the movement, then apply lascannons and plasma cannons. Or spam bolter and heavy bolter until weight of fire drags them down.
