How would you run a game set in the world of devilman?

how would you run a game set in the world of devilman?

Bake sure that the players are enjoying themselves for the first few sessions then do everything in your power to ensure they're as miserable as possible.

Describe sex and violence like an edgy, hormonal asshole of a teenager.

I wouldn't because the setting really isn't the appeal of the show

I wouldn't have it be the shitty Crybaby version, that is for sure. Watch the three movies from the 90s-Y2K like a damn adult that knows and respects the source material, for fuck's sake.

It's called Nightspawn by Palladium.

Just read the manga. All the adaptations are shitty to varying degrees. Some might not be as shitty but they're still shit.

my father died!

Well, obviously. Those movies were without doubt the best adaptations, though. The new series is seriously straight up trash, and the OP only wants to hamfist Devilman into something because it's the latest Netflix trend; afterall, the setting isn't even what makes Devilman good, or caused it to have such a cultural impact.

It's actually really simple. The players are all Devilmen, and they're finding their way to the final battle. In fact, some of the side-stories already have this set-up: A boy band (i.e. a perfect PC party) of Devilmen must conceal their identities while fighting as henshin heroes.

If you want to be really gutsy, start at the final battle. Then rewind to see how the heroes got here. If I recall correctly, the conflict took like twenty years to resolve. There was a lot of sound and fury, even though the outcome never really was in doubt.

>the manga isn't shitty too

Spend an inordinate amount of time describing Satan's waist, hips and tiddies, then kick everyone who hasn't left.

The first step before creating something good is being able to distinguish good from bad, so the first thing I would do is develop good tate. After i did that, i wouldn't be interested in running a shit animegame so I'd stop.

Well you better go develop that taste before you imagine what you'll do after

I didn't really like devilman at all but I'd play this

oh look, an actually decent and helpful reply. I thought those were already extinct in these woods

Play as Tiger Mask, ask a friend to play Casshern and aks the GM if we can go to Japari Park.

is this porn?

But what would be the point of that? The ending would be "And you splatter yourself all over Satan and die. You don't even ruffle his feathers."

What's the point of literally anything? Your characters don't know how the story is going to end. Besides, the whole point is that even if it's hopeless, people still strive to survive. More, it doesn't mean you can't win some kind of symbolic victory. Like, maybe the entire party wants to kill that one demon that slaughtered their family, or they wanted to protect those they care for until the very last moment.

Sure, everyone dies at the end, but everyone dies anyway. It's the journey, not the destination.

Wasn't there a devilman rpg book that started your campaigns like this and the rest of the sessions were flashbacks?

I liked Crybaby a lot. It was a beautifull love story
