>General Rules This is NOT /tesg/ minus waifus, so behave properly. Keep the squabbling to a minimum. No waifus/husbandos except the Nightingale of course
It's been awhile so hopefully we have things to discuss.
Morrowind had the potential to be really spooky, but somehow it didn't work.
Luke Turner
The graphics don't really help with that.
Although, it makes me wonder what each Tamriel race/culture finds scary.
Jack Cook
It probably still has the potential to be incredibly spooky. Just make some slight creepier changes to the story/dialogue, audio/music, and allow the game to get darker and you're already pretty much there. Having actual cut scenes for the dream sequences would go a long way as well.
Sebastian Hall
I like to think that the moons and other astronomical signs play a large role in the spooky superstitions of Tamriel's many cultures. The Redguards would almost certainly associate many bad omens with the Serpent constellation.
Joseph Lee
Hey guys, 3 years ago i crated my own pnp-system playing in ElderScrolls Morrowind. Just play it online with friends and different groups.

So uhh... Was Huna an Aylied woman?
Ayden Nelson
heh. Nah
Ryder Peterson
>Altmer Women
Matthew Collins
So, I started playing Morrowind for the first time
Why was Dagoth Ur trying to spread a disease? How's that a blessing?
Did a Dragonbreak happen when Nerevar was murdered?
Magic seems really prevalent in Morrowind, now I can't play Skyrim without thinking why a lot of things like portals aren't available in game
Owen Diaz
I don't get it
David Garcia
Dagoth Ur did nothing wrong he just wanted for everybody to enjoy his sick beats
pelinal is canon gay but that makes Veeky Forums insecure and triggered even though it's an interesting character trait so publishers edited it out of the books and before anyone spergs, him solely being homosexual isn't interesting, it's that we've never seen a badass, specist, cyborg homosexual before. it's interesting
Christian Clark
DagothWave is great
Joseph Watson
>MK is an SJW
this explains things
Benjamin Jenkins
>pelinal is canon gay >publishers edited it out of the books So not canon
Robert Campbell
>it's that we've never seen a badass, specist, cyborg homosexual before. it's interesting
>specist >homosexual >never seen before >t's interesting
YASS PELINAL SLAYY
Dominic Allen
it's never been stated to be uncanon, just removed from the song of pelinal. the writer says he's gay, and since no one has proven other wise, he is.
this is what i meant by insecure
Asher Gray
Well to be frank Pelinal is not 'canon' gay, as you said it was edited out of the books for this exact purpose, it's just that Kirkbride has stated he originally intended for him to be gay. Adding onto this the purpose for him being gay has fuck all to do with it being a quirky character trait or some LGBT pandering bullshit, just to get that out of the way. Kirkbride had made it expressly clear that Pelinal was written as gay to connect him with that classical 'heroic' masculine type of love, a la Heracles or Alexander the Great.
Jonathan Evans
You could argue that it's still there, the implication of a relationship between him and Huna similar to that of Achilles and Patroklos.
John Long
>just removed from the song of pelinal. "just". It's not on the books so it's not a thing
>the writer says he's gay, Not the in-game author, and MK wasn't the only one responsible for the lore, he doesn't even works on TES anymore
>since no one has proven other wise, he is. This is a fallacy, and no one proved he is not Heterosexual either
Adam Baker
>the writer says he's gay, and since no one has proven other wise, he is.
where has the writer said he's gay? The line has been removed, and it's not like he's contesting that removal anywhere, he just said it's no longer there it being removed is more evidence at it being non-canon and you can't say it's canon just because there is nothing proving otherwise - on the contrary, it seems the idea has been scrapped. this happens all the time, if you claim every single scrapped thing is canon than Lyg is the true canon Tamriel
Jordan Bennett
>all this insecurity does it bother you guys that much that your DEUS VULT self insert likes dick? it's manly as fuck
god forbid we get one gay character that's an actual badass and not a tralala homo boy.
Camden Fisher
>I have no arguments so I will call everyone who disagrees with me an insecure man
Sebastian Allen
stop sperging out about insecurity and listen to some drums, n'wah
How the fuck did you even came to this conclusion? What crooked path did your neurons take to think of that?
Samuel Turner
i already made my case, you guys can't disprove he's gay as much as i can't prove he's gay, even though technically i can because the writer straight up said so before the line was removed and no official statement has been said proving otherwise
Isaac Cooper
>Why was Dagoth Ur trying to spread a disease? How's that a blessing? He's sharing the power of the Heart with the inhabitants of Vvardenfell, which he sees as a gift, he's kind of deranged in this way. You see the problem is human bodies and the mind aren't really capable of dealing with that kind of power and so when exposed to it the body just kind of morphs malignantly resulting in a terrifying corprus abomination. But as can be seen the power does have some benefits to the body, making it immune to disease and aging. Where the main purpose of Dagoth's Heart exposure is seen is with his followers, Dagoth shares the power of the Heart with all, but those who follow him, who see his dream and connect their-selves to him don't experience the malignant effects of corprus, rather they are molded and transformed through Dagoth's own vision. Corprus makes of the flesh a magickal mutable substance, people can't handle this and so turn into mutant freaks, but Dagoth Ur knows how to control and to use it to the benefit (really his benefit) of his followers. You understand? >Did a Dragonbreak happen when Nerevar was murdered Not when he was murdered but when Anumidum was activated. Which engulfed the whole War of the First Council period, and seemingly ends with the apotheosis of the Tribunal and eruption of Red Mountain. >why a lot of things like portals aren't available in game Portals always struck me as kind of weird in Morrowind. Not that they exist (they've existed since Arena) but that they are so inexpensive to use. There seems to be no downside, it doesn't make sense why everyone wouldn't just travel by portal.
Christian Jones
You should read about Russell's teapot
David Wilson
i have, except that's not the best comparison given the history of pelinal and his writer
Hudson Butler
That part was removed, it's not official and can't be used as an argument
Gavin Collins
it can be, because no official statement has been made. there's more evidence to suggest he's gay than he's not. we can do this all day, buster
Noah Rodriguez
>there's more evidence to suggest he's gay than he's not. we can do this all day, buster That's the point, you can't say he's gay.
Hudson Murphy
Pelinal was not gay, he was whatever the ancient greeks and romans were. You were manly as long as you are the one sticking your dick into a hole, doesn't matter the hole.
Matthew Sanchez
...
Levi Carter
he was a robot he didn't have a dick and the only feeling he was capable of was rage
Kevin Flores
he was a cyborg, not a robot. he shoved his meat stick into boiholes
Grayson Bennett
So if you follow Dagoth Ur you don't get fucked, got it.
>Which engulfed the whole War of the First Council period Makes sense, it was just that there were multiple versions of what happened to Nerevar and who was responsible
Bentley Ramirez
He was not a robot, he just had a very futuristic armor for the period he was
Nathaniel Harris
nah he was a cyborg, he had a glowing light in his chest cavity and a blaster canon for a hand
Kevin Ross
Kirkbride uses the phrase "collective swarm-foam" so I think the correct answer is pic.
Justin Reyes
re: magic Morrowind has its own gods and it own rules to an extent. For example, Almalexia doesn't allow levitation in Mournhold, while Vvardenfell is Vivec's domain and he's an anything goes kind of guy. (This is mostly a lampshading of engine limitations but I like it.) The events of Oblivion have a lot to do with the absence of teleportation, and by Skyrim's time a lot of lore has also been supressed or just lost. That's my take.
The Blight drives its victims insane, they are part of Dagoth's un-dream now so to them it seems like advancing stages of ascension.
Regarding events at Red Mountain, there are several in-game sources and encountering them and drawing your own conclusions is part of the story. If you've just started playing, it wouldn't seem fair to tell you what I think.
Landon Ortiz
if it was the company that said he was gay and kirkbride said he wasn't? would all you then defend the notion that pelinal was gay because it's canon?
Isaiah Carter
Corprus is his flesh. By warping others into flesh monsters they become part of his body and share his dreams. He wants to be inside everyone and recreate the Sixth House. The blessing is that they become ageless and immune to disease and share the mind of a god but only the best get to be cool monsters, most just end up as zombies.
Luke Johnson
>The events of Oblivion have a lot to do with the absence of teleportation Why there is no Teleportation magic in Oblivion?
Liam James
>So if you follow Dagoth Ur you don't get fucked, got it You still get fucked, losing your mind and individuality in Dagoth's whole apparatus. You just don't turn into pic related.
Eli Garcia
You still play it?
Blake Nguyen
>impling there is even such a thing as canon
Cameron Clark
What's the deal with magic casting in the world of TES, for the purpose of a tabletop game? The games don't really feature any chanting, and the somatic component is not very involved. Would a Pahmar Khajiit be capable of learning schools of magic like Mysticism, Alteration, and Destruction? They're capable of speech, at least according to UESP, but have paws instead of hands. Alfiq are just housecats though, and they are apparently capable of using magic. Someone enlighten me pls!
Ayden Williams
You need hands to cast spells
Ethan Edwards
>what is fast travel
Justin Sanchez
It's about mental focus and imagination. Hence why intelligence and willpower are associated with magic.
Hudson Allen
why do you necessarily need hands though is making arcane gestures that important?
Evan Morgan
holy shit thank you I've been looking for this
Easton Diaz
My guess is he is basing that statement on this particular instance. Though I wouldn't say that it's proof you need hands to use spells, more that magicka is focused through the body. If I had to guess, hands are likely important in the focused release of magicka but it seems rather doubtful to me that they are literally required for use of spells, as magicka is something that innately exists in all things.
Sebastian Long
Just D&D nerds imposing casting components onto Elder Scrolls
Jackson Hughes
I listened to it all, thanks user.
Liam Hill
I was actually reading a pretty good fanfic a while back where Huna was an Aylied woman. It's pretty unlikely, I know, but I also kinda sorta like the idea. Can't find it unfortunately. Sue me.
Aaron Edwards
>Can't find it unfortunately. Sue me. Don't stress yourself, I wouldn't want to read it anyway.
Grayson Gray
>more evidence Evidence that is non-canon.
Liam Bennett
What does that make the translation of Calcelmo's Stone that Kurt posted? It's not in-game. We should disregard it, even if it was what he intended the in-game meaning to be?
Luis Campbell
>people here don't know that pelinal is a gay genocidal android from the future Newfags stop ruining my safe space
Lincoln Morris
Information that simply hasn't been added and information that was outright removed are two different things. That said I still wouldn't consider it explicitly canon.
Jack Ortiz
>Dagoth gUrl Didn't know I wanted this
Zachary Howard
>The reason it was changed was a simple matter of keeping his sexuality ambiguous. Since the player was donning Pelinal's armor, completing a mission that he could not, in a sense becoming him, being so blunt about Pelinal's sexuality was too... definitive (?) in relation to the PC's own. Given the open nature of TES PCs, I felt that it was fine to keep it open to interpretation.
The author's intention is the author's intention. Bethesda never comes into play here. It wasn't removed because it wasn't true.
Henry Cox
What about Dagoth-Urgers?
Jaxon Peterson
>ywn be invited to one of Almalexia's world renowned bukkake parties this life...
Robert Collins

update World Eater Beater
Luke Wilson
Hey, they cosplay is way better than that other one. Neat.
Gabriel Adams
Will it to being by tricking the ‘false reality’ into thinking that you can.
Julian Williams
That's even more in favor of it not being a thing because he's outright saying he prefers it ambiguous.
>why do you necessarily need hands though >is making arcane gestures that important? Have you played any TES game?
Dylan Stewart
>Almalexia's world renowned bukkake parties don't stick your dick in crazy
Landon Powell
Which other one?
Daniel Howard
This one.
Alexander Torres
Ah man I loved that story
Evan Howard
>no yellow skin >no knife ears Really bad cosplay
Anthony Sullivan
Don't you know user, lore talk that's almost exclusively from non-canon sources and conjecture pulled from my ass is ok as long as its not about gays, cause that makes me insecure.
Anthony Martin
For her, it would be worth it.
Josiah Wood

>haven't played Oblivion in years >get the urge to replay it >buy it on sale on Steam >originally played it on console so figure I'd try modding it >spend more time trying to fix it than playing it I didn't have this much trouble modding Morrowind or Skyrim. Why is Oblivion so difficult? I just want to play in a jungle-y Cyrodiil before it got TIBER'D.
John Sullivan
I think you mean >posts the guy who stuck his dick in crazy
>I am afraid... I may have allowed him to come too close. It is impossible that a mortal and a god might meet on equal ground, but... perhaps he had deluded himself
Elijah Phillips
>Almalexia cucked Nerevar Reason enough to kill her Tbh
Henry Richardson
Well, I mean.. He was dead. She also became Vivec's lover.
Dylan Flores
>He was dead Yeah, she killed him and Azura said he would come back
Eli Brooks
>yellow Golden.
Vivec's one half black and one half gold is inspired by the Heruka one half demon and one half buddha thing.
Asher Hughes
>I just want to play in a jungle-y Cyrodiil before it got TIBER'D. Is there an actual good comprehensive mod for this?
Christian Richardson
that's bullshit. the author can say anything they want after the fact but if the text doesn't support it it's no more true than anyone else's interpretation or opinion.
Evan Walker
>Makes sense, it was just that there were multiple versions of what happened to Nerevar and who was responsible Any narration of historical events is going to be unreliable. The Temple wanted to suppress the truth because it wasn't pretty; Dagoth Ur viewed it another way because he was on the receiving end and proceeded to spend centuries scheming vengeance; the Ashlanders had historical records passed down through the generations, definitely of dubious accuracy. All of that is a lot more interesting and substantial and real than just handwaving it all away by saying it's a dragonbreak and I'm glad Kirkbride and the other writers didn't go that route.
Lucas Anderson
...
Julian Sanchez
are you attempting to imply that my disagreement on this is centered on pelinal being gay and not on the notion of authorial intent? because i like the idea of him boning dudes in classical greek hero fashion. it's people championing out-of-source ideas as canon i don't like. because that's not how it works.
Ian Rodriguez
no
Cooper Cruz
It would be really nice and relaxing if it wasn't for the fucking wind. Just like fucking Morrowind.
