I lurk around when the the general isn't overrun by powerwanking and some times post Geist related stuff. On a side note I do find it funny, if a bit goofy that the new edition is introducing a new antagonists in Reapers (Shinigami), which may or may not be "Mask wearing ghosts" that Travis Stout mentioned in a teaser.

Well, it seems one of the writers liked Bleach a little too much.

I'm kind of suspect of some of the changes for Geist 2e, like Sin-Eaters being dead. Kind of turns them into oWoD Risen except even less dead.

It had some neat ideas, but the series peaked very early in its life span. Hopefully it's not much more than just a few cheeky references and what may or may not be Hollow.

I feel like Sin-Eaters being dead in the new addition kind of makes sense. First edition was pretty ambiguous and didn't really delve into whether or not they were, but it seems with the new clarity of it, it is basically like you died and as your ghost was leaving your body a geist approached you and gives you the bargain and if you accept it basically shoves your ghost back into your body and acts as the glue keeping you together. Probably to also enforce the Geist's presence more in the new edition since if you resolve their anchors it can pass on and you will die or pass on as well. I'm sure it could probably be used as an threat a Geist can use towards a bound. "Do this or I'll leave you, getting rid of your second chance on this earth"
It does match up with previous soul/ghost differentiation mentioned in other books where one's ghost isn't their soul and a person could theoretically leave a ghost behind without knowing it and still be alive. Ghosts in world of darkness essentially just being an echo of your memories and personality up until the point where it is created. So Sin-Eaters are just Ghosts with with a Geist glued to it to make a psuedo soul.

I'm interested in how Geists function without a soul. There is either some major drawback to the bargain we don't know about yet or something else screwy with the template.

I think the dev said people without a soul are still people. That being said, I think there is definitely something that hasn't been revealed yet about the template and the bargain and it probably has to do with Synergy/Psyche since it has changed drastically from first edition apparently.

Sounds like it could be a pretty neat idea. Admittedly I wrote up an antagonist krewe that was a cartel ran by not!Danny Trejo. The krewe symbolized themselves heavily on the sugar skull and dia de los muertos themes and had sugar skull masks.

Weird shit happens to normal people without a soul. From what we know of Geist so far that's not the case which is really interesting considering what Promeatans go through trying to claim a soul. I'm hoping their will be developer post in the future that goes more into the nature of soullessness.

Vampires have no insight into the world of geists. If they saw a sin eater, they'd probably just think he was a mage and stay very far away.

Not sure, Geist 2e might cover it. Dark Eras 2 has a joint era between Geist and Mummy that might be interesting for that. I believe there's also a variant of Mummy from one of the supplements that fairly similar to the bound.

I assume Sin-Eaters generally don't get along very well with Vampires, who might leave behind a trail of ghosts. Likewise I don't think Vampires want to tolerate someone enforcing the wrath of the dead or will just stay away.

Specifically, they hired Zak Smith, aka Zak Sabbath, a twitter troll noted for shitty artwork (portraits of porn starlets that are only recognisable from tattoos) and passionless porn (seriously, you get better acting from a Sybian), to write a mobile game entitled "We Eat Blood", which involved neither his shitty art or his terrible fucking. The game is awful, made worse by the thinly veiled bullying Zak hid in it against actual, real world people he doesn't like that just "happen" to have the same name as characters in the game. The game is colloquially known as "We Eat Ass" because of a senseless rim job scene, followed by the PC discovering the severed vampire ass in the corner of the same room later that night.

Zak's only other claim to fame was a cancelled vodcast of him running D&D sessions with porn stars. Cancelled because if we want to watch porn stars do anything, rolling dice isn't it. Anyone who asked what the point was was immediately brigaded by Zak and his cocksucking companions for being "prudes who hate sex".

White Wolf obviously have no interest in hiring Zak to write anything else - partly due to backlash from hiring a twitter troll so obnoxious not even @TheRealDonald would retweet him, partly due to the lukewarm reception of the game and partly due to him getting so fucking butthurt about people threatening a product boycott. He later showed up on Reddit, demanding answers from White Wolf fans - he asked something like "why do you even want more White Wolf products? Is it just suckling at the corporate teat or is it something else?" and any reason he was given he responded with "that's a financial reason", regardless of what that reason was.

Mummies control and restructure ghosts of any power level (even ghost mages, which they can explicitly create) however they like, meaning the Underworld is their play pen.

Mummy powers are usually as rigid and inflexible as the mummies themselves, but their ghost stuff is totally wild, versatile and open ended.

I am insanely juiced about geist 2e because I think disembodied geists will be very fancy and it'll cover higher tier ghosts etc. in greater detail, which will also be awesome for Moroi and Mummies.

My sincere hope is that a disembodied Geist gets most of the benefits (powers etc) of a Sin Eater and that we can wind up featuring mummies served by hordes of Geists.

Exarchs have a very flimsy rule that is imperiled by stuff like "people becoming too sad, tipping fedoras too much or not enough, too just about anything anything" with 1,001 special exceptions. These guys are served by quadrillions of archmage ephemera but people not having their feelings hurt enough can cripple them.

Think of how the Unnamed in owod had his feelings nearly hurt to death by Satan worship.

I envision Cofd as primarily centering around themes of, beyond conspiracy theories often being real, of seriously debilitating forms of mental illness sometimes being such as of your whole family really being impostors.

Everything pertaining to fetches and demon covers, just for starters, reminds me of certain really sad and tragic forms of mental illness that probably shouldn't be made fun of... but I can't resist.

Raziel is very obviously a Geist with very interesting influences, or of course he could be a Spectre, depending on which non vampire gameline you prefer. Likewise, the Elder God works as an Exarch of Death, a Supernal God of Death, as the Underworld analogs to such, etc. as you prefer.

If you enjoy the Raziel/Kain dynamic, a low humanity Hollow Mekhet whose goal is to try to get his Ka to drink from a river of the dead and become a Geist, thus freeing his other half from its suffering. Ghosts have Influence (their anchor), so the reconciled Ka would be a powerful ally.

In nwod you can blatantly use Lost Lineage to make a clan with whatever disciplines you want. Celerity and Protean are the most frequently used Kain disciplines, but other vampires barely ever use Celerity, so YMMV. I would use Celerity, Protean, Praestantia (for rapid, devastating attacks) for Kain and Vigor, Resilience, and Protean for most other vamps.

LoK vampire weaknesses work fine as Banes. Covenant is blatantly Ordo Dracul, as Kain and his vampires were all about series of evolutions and transcendence etc. Any powers vampires lack fit neatly as CoZ stuff.

Defiance era Hylden fit *exactly* as Strix, and the Clan Weakness of all of Kain's childer fits exactly as the 2e Julii weakness. The Mass is basically the God Machine or C&C infrastructure thereof, and pre Defiance Hylden work as angels or somesuch (more alien abductors that work as infrastructure than the Defiance era strix types).

Since in Requiem the role of the Prince has responsibilities as well (making sure everyone has blood for starters), one could argue its not that great. I firmly expect there are more Princes that are subversions of the archetype (such as either with pitifully small groups of subjects or a Prince who is just a tabula rasa of Dominate etc effects, like the Prima Invicta's King) rather than played straight.
