Here's the trick: do normal scifi and refer to everything using Egyptian euphemisms/made up phrases. Electricity/power is now Sun's Breath. Computers are Altars of Thoth. Carbon fiber is voidreed. Etc.

Space Egypt, you say?

So it takes three times as long to get anything said, and nobody will understand it.

So, Chronicles of Riddick.

>aesthetics
>in roleplaying
confusion

That sounds awful

Are you players retarded?

So... Stargate, then. Just on Gould controlled planets a lot.

>mfw he calls a menat a "personal energy shield"
>mfw he calls a khepresh a "powered exoskeleton"
>mfw he calls a solar barge a "faster-than-light space craft"
>mfw he calls a hennu boat a "short-range starfighter"
>mfw he calls an ankh a "personal life support module"
>mfw he calls an ushabti a "manual labor robot"
>mfw he calls an obelisk an "interstellar communications tower"
>mfw he calls a Book of Thoth a "solid-state data storage unit"
>mfw he calls a Uraeus a "shipboard laser weapon"
>mfw he calls a Khepri an "automated combat drone"
>mfw he calls Ma'at "the fundamental laws of the universe"
>mfw he calls Nu "the vacuum of space"
>mfw he calls Duat "a parallel reality"

How do your people even communicate? Just call things what they are.

Good post

WE WUZ

Space exploration game where main civilization is egypt. I dig it.

So what 'themes' are typically egyptian and how can we translate then into a cyberpunky space game?

For one, I'd think as the Pharaoh been a divine ruler, he should exist as a mythical, potentially immortal or unusually long live figured, often refered to in near worship but seldomly doing something practical. He lives in a imense temple-Arcology in the capital world, who's only inhabited by his family and the highest ranking of the priesthood, and their personal servants.

And the priesthood being a caste above everyone else, i'd say, should be represented by them having dominion over technology. The only ones instructed to study the sacred texts and devices are those born into the priesthood caste. Each 'god' deals with a sector of technology. Everything about technology is highly esoteric and deliberately obfuscating for those not initiate, so they really think like magic.

Also, of course, slavery or indenture servitude are rampant across the setting. However, the world relies on solar power for near everything, and the enviroment is much better than most scifi settings due to mostly 'clean' energy

OBNOXIOUS SHITPOSTERS

...

I'd imagine parts of Egypt looks like that in the Fifth Element.

Ancient Egyptians weren't black. Even modern one is mostly Arab.

KANGZ

quality post desu

well done

Play as a Necrontry before or during the War in Heaven.

I like you

>tfw you're the guy in charge of defacing your station's old statues and ordering new ones when a new Pharoah ascends to the throne

would space Egyptians listen to Nile while they're blowing up Apophids with the Light of Ra?

sauce? I like aquacolors.

WE

Will be?

Need to fuck off and die, really.

Should the Egyptian gods be actual deities in the setting or just be very powerful rulers with their own areas of interest?

I too enjoy Stargate

Read Lord of Light for inspiration, its hindu instead of Egyptian, but as far as putting ancient culture aesthetics into sci fi nothing does it better.

Sure some part of the EYE universe has that

You could also have the gods of the pantheon be represented by incredibly powerful AIs. Only the priest class is allowed/capable of communicating with them. In order to keep the theme of divine favor being fickle/rare, maybe the God AIs have corrupted data or consume ridiculous amounts of power, so turning them on is risky or costly.

You could do an ancient aliens theme where the discovery of some alien ruins somewhere in the solar system suggests that ancient societies had encountered aliens and based early societies on them. People quickly became obsessed with ancient cultures after the big news and began re-adopting their ancient symbols and customs, and a revival of their religions began to take hold.

Optional grimdark: As per many old societies, slavery becomes commonplace again and slaves toil in the mines, factories, and fields while the elite bask in luxury. Favorable servants perform menial tasks, such as piloting their master's vehicles for them, cleaning, or, if they are exceptionally loyal, are castrated and become eunuch bodyguards, who may or may not be genetically enhanced or given cybernetic implants.

Do the AIs represent the gods, or were the gods always AIs to begin with?

will rock you?
