Mtg Modern format

How’s your experience with Jace and BBE back been so far? Also, with the spoilers of the new masters set, are there any new decks you’re looking to build that you couldn’t for financial reasons before?

Need to make this gimmick deck more competitive.

tappedout.net/mtg-decks/green-removal-2/

Right now it is not consistent at all. Some times I get a lot of removal no artifact creation, other times I get too much artifact creation and no removal.

Why no arbor elf for the 4 mana utopia sprawl combo?

What should I remove?

>How’s your experience with Jace and BBE back been so far?
BBE has been great in testing for the R/G eldrazi list I'm putting together. As for Jace, he seems fine, though he didn't make the tron matchup any easier for my U/W control opponent; he still got trounced on.

I played Jund at my local FNM last week and absolutely destroyed UW Control, Bogles and some meme budget decks like decks like 8whack and green stompy. Only lost 2-1 to Blue Moon.

To add to the thread question, BBE into KCommand or Lili always feels amazing

I’m working on temur moon, but I’m still short a Jace and 4 tarmagoyfs. Eventually I’ll get them though.

Finally pulling the trigger on the last Ravager I need for affinity, after that I still need the mana base and 3 more mox opals.
Glad I got one when it was just 40$
Fucking a son feels bad having to pay 80 for 3 more.
Glad Chalice will drop in price as of recent printings.
Even if I dont like modern affinity I can just turn it into a legacy affinity deck.

So, I've pulled the trigger and built that mono green control- land destruction deck with plow under.
How badly am I going to get rekt by serious decks? (especially dredge and UW control)

>Fucking a son feels bad having to pay 80 for 3 more.
I need a set of Lilianas ;_;
I'm gonna have to wait a while but that could backfire and I'll have to pay $150 each one day.

I like Jace, been cutting 2 cryptics and an azcanta. A value engine thats also a win condition ends up being pretty sweet. Watching idiots bolt him or kommand him is wonderful. So far I've actually found his worst enemy to be snapcasters.

Why did they only use shit art in the reprints?

all are bad tbtf.
id use the babe elfu in the middle

Cancer
The original art is great

>liking the wiry haired rat elf
>liking the plastic waifu fedora bait
>disliking the art that shows how fucking savage and sexy she can be
Jesus i can't even fathom taste this bad

Objectively wrong, planechase/fnm art is best art.

From mtggoldfish?

deckstats.net/decks/103045/920909-mono-green-control/en

I'm using Deyuil's list which is similar to mtggoldfish's one

>liking nu-mtg cgi art
kys

>liking waifu bait art
kys

Eh, not the worst choice for fnm. All these land destruction decks that aren't actual ponza all have the same issue of not doing much if your dork is killed, and the lack of blood moon means you can't get the occasional free win.

I'd go for r/g desu. Blue is nice, but green has nissas oath and ancient stirrings. Red has shit like ancient grudge, which 2-4-1s your opponent hard. The sideboard cards red runs are also super strong, and you can run bloodbraid if you felt like it.

well the entire deck costs 30$ where I'm from.
I wanted something fun that still has a change to win sometimes

>where im from
Sorry to pry but where?

>if i can't see the brush strokes it's shit
Again, your awful taste is unfathomable.

Italy

Why did they ban Pod?
Why is Splinter twin banned?

>likes generic nu-mtg shit art
>has the nerve to call my taste bad
Lmao

How competitive is GR Ponza?

Too bad the art is so damn dark.

The ideal BBE art would be Argyle's design with Swanland's shot composition,

What are some cute and fun decks?

same

Fairly, just don't run Bloodbraid Elf. Literally a walking talking memecard. People who claim Ponza with BBE is a good deck are people who don't realise how strong the deck is anyway.

dunno, the deck seems inconsistent to me at the moment.

>tfw this fucker probably won't get a reprint
>tfw he will spike in price even more

Let's say I wnat to play lantern (been playing 8-rack but it's a meh deck now)
How much will it take to learn how to pilot it and how much will my opponents hate me over 8-rack?

>these fuckers are going to stay $60 minimum forever

>he

What time of the year do prices normally go down? When is "modern season" over?

Never. Modern prices are usually at their lowest when a big reprint set hit a few staples, and even then, it's only cards that got hit with a reprint.

I just wanna play the game ;_;
>buy proxies
I don't think my lgs allows those

Don't announce it then, nerd

How the fuck am supposed to double sleeve this? Ive tried for almost 20 minutes and only got a couple of cards done correctly. The top always stays put when pushing the card down. I'm extremely frustrated.
Kmc perfect fit and dragon shield matte btw.

Push it like halfway down then stick your thumb into the dragonshield and push from the middle of the card all the way in.

This is the strat.

I typically pinch the very top of the card within the inner sleeve and push it down most of the way, then nudge the last little bit in.

Combining these two methods. Should I be worried about bending the cards slightly? Its affinity and by far my most expensive deck.

Wait for a tcgplayer kickback weekend, and pick up staples that have been reprinted recently. What deck are you interested in?

I don't think a light but firm pinch on the very top of the card for half a second is going to hurt your shit.

Should i build this version of 8-whack (that i saw here)? I have almost everything except for the Signal Pests, Guides and Loyalists.

Introduce the sleeved card into the sleeve

With both hands grab the outer sleeve and flip the card downwards so the yet to sleeve card is upside down.

Grabbing only the outer sleeve put pressure on the inner card witha flat hard surface. This prevents the inner sleeve from coming out.

Then when it's 99% inside introduce a finger further away than the middle section and with the other hand grabbing the outer sleeve gently push inwards for the 1% remaining.

It felt so good to make Jace explode with this bad boy.
But to be honest Gideon and his retarded emblem give me more troble than Jace.

The complete deck btw. It's fun and surprisingly efficient. The main problem is getting the mana right for Sedge Sliver and keeping the mana dorks alive.

I wouldn't play the signal pests, but yeah, you'll need Guides and Loyalists to play 8whack.

jesus christ that is the longest card name for galerider what language is that

Spanish.
"Fragmentado jinete de vendavales"
Becuse why make it easy.

I need Snapcasters and Tarns for GDS.
I barely got started on UW control before Jace got unbanned but I still want to make it. Then my Esper Goryo's deck just needs two more Goryo's and a set of Lilianas. I don't really know what to do, wait or rip the band aid and drop $350-$500 on cards for a deck every week. I should just drop UW control altogether.

Why not? What should i play then?

Here's some ideas:

Oh, forgot the article with the post-mortem.
mtggoldfish.com/articles/much-abrew-8-whack-goblins-modern

8 Rack is great in this meta, but I'll admit that Lantern is better. It will probably take some practice to get sequencing right (and to learn what to get rid of and what to let the draw).
Whether they hate you more is up to who you play against, but probably a lot. 8 Rack is at least a rarer deck so people sometimes are excited to see it, and the feeling of helplessness against Lantern is 10x worse.

I want to brew, what colors should I brew in?

G/R

Thanks, I'll start looking at cards.

I was looking at that mono-blue wizard devotion shitpile and the non-budget version doesn't have Cavern of Souls. Can anyone explain?

This just means you need new perfect sleeves

Because it's not actually a wizard deck, rather a monoU devotion that runs a playset of voidmage.
the fact that harbinger of tides, clique and master of waves are randomly wizards doth not a wizard army make.

Hows this memedeck?

also it's a shitpile, I'd rather go for the DanDans and Shorecrashers tbqf

looks fucking terrible

Does this mean I can play Turbofog?

consider the u/b painland instead of u/w for the dismember, also maybe vault skirge but idk
also this keep up the good memework friend

Weird and bad but fun. Needs work.

>judge's senpai
>not running a singleton legendary thopter commander to further lock people out of casting their sorcery spells

Needs reality smasher. Take out 2 Wretched Gryffs and 2 Cryptic Commands.

You have 2 plans.
A. Out Tempo them with Ninjas and Elder Deep Fiend
B. Out smash them with Eldrazi

What do you think about this budget deck?
mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-ubg-45044#paper

Just a regular BUG deck.

How do we make him good?

mtggoldfish chat is fucking awful. Several tiers below calebs.

well according to the vintage deck he's in, a shit ton of powerful cantrips and free mana rocks

When are we going to get Price of Progress in modern? These greedy manabases must be purged.

Never. Direct damage spells are a no-no in current design philosophy

b-but they printed open fire last year

Someone help me build a meme deck around Fevered Visions!

Needs Black Vise

Runeflare Trap, Spiteful Visions, Kederekt Parasite, Molten Psyche
some sort of grixis control shell

Put a spare card you do not care about behind the innersleved card and have about half and inch if it above the innersleved card. Insert both into the over sleeve. Index finger on back of the two cards and thumb on the pusher card where the tip of your thumb can push the innersleved card into the bottom of the sleeve for a perfect fit. Than just remove the pusher card and repeat.

This card is awesome. How do I play her?

As a semi-meme in mono white taxes.

In a morph-flicker shell.
Play good cards for 3, use cheap flicker effects to flip them.

Are there any other good morph cards so I don't have to play 20 can trips to rely on only her?

scryfall.com/search?q=o:Morph f:modern&order=cmc&dir=desc&as=grid
maelstrom djinn would be neat

Deathmist Raptor

In DnT with funny flicker effects

Thanks for the lead

Isnt available in modern though

throw some ensnaring bridges and dreadbores in too
can't let these fuckers stop your master plan

The Jace is dead. Bury it.

Would WB aristocrats be a decent deck, or should I just play Esper rally because of Bazaar memes.

>$80
>That can't be right
>google it

Holy shit. I'm glad I got mine when they were only twenty.
