Why are human kings so petty and insignificant?

Why are human kings so petty and insignificant?

/a/ please go, your isekai shit is lame.

I want to FUCK the queen of the forest folk!

king of the spirits is my waifu

Like roaches, we reproduce fast, survive and live shortly.

If this board had flags, yours have moon on it.

Why are elven queens always race mixers?

...

She's gay, as all elves are.

In my country cheap fantasy and fiction is oversaturated with isekai bullshit, we even have special slang term for it, which now became and actual denomination of this genre.
It is the lowest possible point, even worse than those drama novels for housewives.

Awesome posts, well thought out, almost gave a (You).

What country are you from? There's some really good isekai out there senpai. The Wizard Knight. Three Hearts and Three Lions. Harold Shea.

Elf and Dragon don't loot too thrilled with their positions

all isekai is weeb "A Kid in King Arthur's Court"
it's fucking terrible

It's okay, it's not rape if it's an elf. And it's the queen of the elves, so it's extra not rape.

Have you read any of those things I listed?

I hate isakai shit so god damn much, I want to choke out every soypilled fagget who likes this shit. Normally people's opinions make me sad not mad but every single time I see an isakai thread on /a/ I lose my shit.

I remember forcing myself through shield hero and It's just so fucking cringey jesus christ. Everytime the main character us not on screan all the other characters are going "isn't main character so great? Here are my personal problems but wait this is how it all comes back to main character! By the way where is main character? I'm away from him for 1 fucking second and all I can do is talk about main character". I myself am a huge fucking nerd and loser irl, and i cant stand reading 5 pages of this shit. God damn, what kind of freak of nature can read this trash and enjoy self inserting in these perpetual ego stroking machines? Who fucking needs THIS level of escapism?

>>Who fucking needs THIS level of escapism?

You clearly know nothing about japanese society.

Try reading Natsunokumo.

>every single time I see an isakai thread on /a/ I lose my shit
And this board claims to be elite of sorts. Yet they have daily isekai generals.

>start date 2008
I can already tell this won't be THAT bad, this new wave iasaki only really became popular after 2011. But I'm not into "mmo" Mangas so I won't give it a read unless you absolutely recommend it.

I absolutely recommend it. It's not a typical MMO manga either.

/thread

Just watched Bahamut- Virgin Soul. The King of Man was pretty bad ass. Btfo angels demons and dragons.

Ok

>lion motif on helmet
Dare I say this is just Alexander the Great?

...

>I met a traveler from an antique land
>Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
>Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
>Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
>And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
>Tell that its sculptor well those passions read,
>Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
>The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed,
>And on the pedestal these words appear:
>"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:
>Look upon my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
>Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
>Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
>The lone and level sands stretch far away.

It might have been unintentional but the message I got watching Grimgar is that if you're a loser IRL you'll probably be a loser in fantasy too.

I liked that one.

What is a Isekai, and why do people seem to hate it so much? And please explain it in a way that sound reasonable. Thanks to anyone for answering the question.

It's a term for stuff like John Carter of Mars.
Basically normal dude gets dumped in a fantastic setting. Usually for little or no reason, they're a badass despite only being a normal dude ala John Carter being super strong in Mars gravity.

it's a genre convention of "stuck in another world" (think shit like Digimon, Alice in Wonderland or Wizard of Oz, but done in the worst manner possible)

basically new isekai is anime ego stroking fodder where the MC dies by getting hit by a truck, awakens in a new world and is given overpowered lvl 20 abilities by a goddess, he then fucks around for an hour and acquires a harem of 10 beautiful babes, some of them monster girls, who lap up his cock and cum

People hate it because the worldbuilding and writing is usually very cliche and tropy, since we are talking webnovel written by 20s here.

You might like this little piece of trivia then: There’s a light novel writing contest in japan that’s kind of like NaNoWriMo but with major publishers attached and prizes of sorts. Last year they banned isekai stories from entry.

People on /co/ say that Veeky Forums hates K6BD.

Veeky Forums generally loves K6BD, but there are one or two very loud faggots that always start screaming SHIIIIILLLLL in every thread, even those about the K6BD RPG.

Unlike /co/ we’re not all one person with one opinion.

Veeky Forums generally hates K6BD, but there are one or two very loud faggots that always start screaming WE AREN'T SHIIIIIILLLS in every thread, even those not at all about K6BD.

Veeky Forums generally has no strong opinion on K6BD one way or the other, but there are always one or two very loud faggots that always start screaming in every thread, even those not at all about K6BD.

>humans are short lived and breed quickly compared to other races
>despite being the weakest individually they conquer the land with superior numbers with superior technology
>swarming over the ill defended lands of the other races like an endless swarm of vermin
I hate this trope but I can’t get get it out of my head. It’s such a worst of both worlds kind of situation.
>born weak in worthless in a world of demi-gods you join together to rage against the machine
>tfw destined to defile and destroy that which you envy and desire for yourself

This.
Neat art + shitty story telling. Meh. Maybe Meh+ on a good day.

Turns out, she's actually the Queen(male) of the elves.
inb4 that's not a problem posts

>banned isekai stories from entry
jeez fucking louise that's awesome.

Russia.
Maybe there is some good stuff in this genre, it is unwise to generalize things in such manner after all. But this "the other world" concept is so ripe for power fantasy, self-insertion and wish fulfilment. It is full on "loser to hero" trope, which powercreeps the main dude in an instant by simply introducing him to the new setting, while this setting can be shaped in the most fetishy way possible. Conceptually, it is such a cheap form of escapism, no wonder some no-good writers exploit it. This guy also gets it.
And there are also LitRPGs...

>Veeky Forums generally has no strong opinion on one way or the other, but there are always one or two very loud faggots that always start screaming in every thread, even those not at all about .

The biggest problem with isekai is that the MC always starts off with some super overpowered ability that no one else in the story has and that makes him the strongest without really having to do anything

The second biggest problem is that every isekai world seems to operate on videogame rules

Seriously user, just check out The Wizard Knight. I promise you it's good shit.

Not just videogame-rules. ONE PARTICULAR TYPE of videogame-rules: fucking Dragon Quest.

The game is like 50 years old, fuck's sakes Japan, come up with new shit. It's like if every fantasy setting was Conan.

It's not like all fantasy manga published are isekai.

Of course. It's just that it's fucking rare to find those. Goblin Slayer and Dungeon Meshi are "the good ones" as far as I'm concerned.

Oversaturation. While the classic Isekai concept is very old, in the last years there has been a gigantic surge of shitty isekai japanese light novel, many of which got adapted into manga and animes.

Like, think about the huge amount of shitty Harry Potter fanfics that came out after the books. Now imagine if those for some reason got published and oversaturated the books and animation market. So just by switchin on the tv looking for a new series you had the very consistent risk of running into My Immortal tier shit.

Notice the intense quotes around the words "the good ones"
>"the good ones"
and then come back to me.

>every isekai world seems to operate on videogame rules
A lot of non isekai fantasy ones do too. Or work based on dnd.

If you think Goblin Slayer and Dungeon Meshi are the only good fantasy manga, then you're under-read. If you don't see the huge similarities between power fantasy isekai and Goblin Slayer, then you're stupid.

I'm aware that it suffers from plenty of trappings, like the waifus and the adventurer's guild.

Also don't call me under-read just because I don't know of many good fantasy manga. Just recommend me some and I'll pick them up, I'm a hobo hungry for meat and you're some posh fucking asshole dining at the restaurant looking down while wiping your ass with some fillet mignon, jerk.

This still poses no problem for me.

Ok, that was pretty funny.
Am I right in liking the first glance at Broken Worlds' mechanics (mainly the classes) or am I simply deceived by my sympathy to the comic?

You didn't mention Berserk or Dorohedoro or Nausicaa or even Full Metal Alchemist, which is kind of nuts to me.

But if you want other recs: Mushishi, Spirit Circle, Sengoko Youko, Made in Abyss, Totsukuni no Shoujo, Ran and the Gray World, Stravaganza - Isai no Hime, Witches, Ancient Magus' Bride. There's a lot of good 'historical' stuff too: Vinland Saga, Jin, Takemitsu Zamurai, Blade of the Immortal, Historie, Shut Hell.

>Berserk
If the author doesn't care because he's too busy playing Idolmaster, then same
>Nausicaa
I mean, the movie was better.
>FMA
didn't get into it

I'll see about looking up some of these later. I was just telling you to be careful when you start flinging shit at someone who's clearly into the same shit you are though. It makes both of us look like idiots.

>>FMA
>didn't get into it
Manga is bad. Anime is ok. Anime is ok.

I'm of the opinion that the Apocalypse World system is a serviceable one, so long as you have competent players and GMs, so you're not necessarily wrong for liking it. I played two sessions with some friends about a month or so ago when we got our hands on a release version PDF and it was plenty of fun. Personally I feel like a class based system for a KSBD RPG is very silly though.

Do you remember the main plotline of your campaign?
Also when I read the PDF, classes seemed more like roles in a story rather than professions (a la DnD), which is fitting to the setting IMO, but I may be horribly wrong.

Nigga you have goddamn terrible taste.

Inspired by Alexander. Gaiseric from Berserk. I believe Skull Knight was Gaiseric in his mortal life if i recall.

We talking Brotherhood? If not then get out of here with that gay shit.

>Quoting Ecclesiastes
Fuck yes. That's the only book in the bible that I find tolerable.

The only one I liked was Konosuba because it in no way takes itself seriously and the MC is a total loser.

I'm not your nigga, bro.

Everyone should know by now that that is simply a meme, right? By the tribal stage mega fauna and the more specialized, and thus superior, sentient species would have extinguished humans.

Well it's I good thing he didn't say "my" anywhere in that post isn't it?

Power fantasy bullshit will always be present in one way or another, sadly.
If it's not Isekai, it's shit like Twilight, Sword of Truth, Eragon or Kingkiller.

But the real problem is the sycophantic cocksuckers that prop this shit up and infest review sites. If I'm looking for new fantasy material, I have to wade through about fifteen fucking sites to get any sort of gauge for it.
I'd have no problem with it if it was just inoffensive crap.

How do you feel about Hosea?

>2 When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea,
>“Go, take for yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of
>whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the Lord.”
>3 So he went and took Gomer daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and
>bore him a son.
>
>4 And the Lord said to him, “Name him God Sows; for in a little while
>I will punish the house of Jehu for the blood of God Sows, and I will
>put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel. 5 On that day I will
>break the bow of Israel in the valley of God Sows.”
>
>6 She conceived again and bore a daughter. Then the Lord said to him,
>“Name her Not Pitied, for I will no longer have pity on the house of
>Israel or forgive them. 7 But I will have pity on the house of Judah,
>and I will save them by the Lord their God; I will not save them by
>bow, or by sword, or by war, or by horses, or by horsemen.”
>
>8 When she had weaned Not Pitied, she conceived and bore a son. 9 Then
>the Lord said, “Name him Not My People, for you are not my people and
>I am not yours.”

As an atheist I recognize how much of it is immoral but I can appreciate a lot of the passion behind it.

Maybe because humanity in general are petty and insignificant beings. Just look at today and how people are attacking one another for differences in belief\though process instead of actually talking it out.

>Kingkiller
I can't even agree with this, since the running theme of the entire series is "Arrogant fuckwit cucks himself, repeatedly and without doubt".
The main character has natural talent, yes, but he is constantly the source of his own downfall, and it's actually refreshing to see a protag who isn't ultimately successful at everything he does, or even heroic.

Kek

I like the videogame rules. I've read good fictions that makes great use of it: Ore no Jinsei Hell Mode (俺の人生ヘルモード), Summoner-san ga Iku (サモナーさんが行く) and Goblin no Oukoku (ゴブリンの王国).

Reminds me of this really good free japanese game called Ruina. The first human emperor in the world was tutored by the elven king, when said emperor rebelled against all the non-human races, eventually leading to human supremacy, he took the elven king as concubine instead of killing him.

No it's more like.
>Veeky Forums generally agrees with me on , but there are always one or two very loud faggots that always start screaming their disagreement with me in every thread, even those not at all about .

If this is the one I think it is powerful wizard bought every spellbook in the world, secluded himself in histower, came out centuries later to get more books, found that magic had backslid super far then it's not even isekai. Still trash though.

>good
>free
>jap
Pick two except one combination is invalid, guess which

...

Yeah Japan is ten years too late to the popadanez genre.

>every kind of being has one centralized ruler

one page and I can already tell this is the lowest effort fanservice isekai worldbuilding garbage
