They're exaggerating the cheekbone width to make the minis look more "asian". That makes everything else look skinnier by comparison.
I've done a tiny bit of sculpting myself, and trying to differentiate minis by ethnicity via sculpting at this scale is really, really, tricky. Easier to do it via paint scheme, IMO.
/also, still better than GW "female" heads, which are just male heads with different haircuts and some blush and lipstick applied

YJ whining has been falling off ever since HSN3, you still occasionally get the old >muh CC tax but it's not what it once was. PanO whining is the new hotness for now, though that seems fit to change if a third of YJ's units are removed from the faction. Yu Jing are the 'heel' of Infinity; a setting where everyone is more or less assholes already. That means that their fluff-pieces are made out to be propaganda (you can't take their word at face value), and their ultimately self-serving actions (though not necessarily more self-serving than anyone else's) are meant to evoke the feeling that they're inconsiderate on principle. The fact that their society is so repressed is meant to put forward the notion that they're entirely unsympathetic.
