Dawn of Rebellion when

In a straight up fist fight, which Imperial Admiral would win?

My money is on either Piett or a Tarkin haymaker

I vaguely remember Motti being almost as jacked as Kylo Ren according to a legends book. Muscle isn't everything, but I'd put money on him.

Motti works out for a bit and makes a big deal about his physical fitness in the Death Star book, yeah.

Nice bait OP faggot.

Good news everyone! I finally found a LGS that does X-wing! Before this, the only two I knew of only did card games and D&D.

Which starter set should I get/what additional packs? I'm an Impfag so Imperial preference.

Pick a starter set and two ships that you like. only ship i can outright tell you to avoid as a first ship is the Lambda.

who here is /oldschool/ when it comes to star wars.
i want Han Solo in a Z-95 headhunter and war robots of Xim.
Tales of the Jedi when?
Basilisk war-droids when?

Still waiting on Lady Luck and Errant Venture for Armada.

my Brubb.

How many ships do you want to fly? (2-7, 3-4 is typical)
Any particular ships or characters seem cool to you?

Punisher is the only truly bad ship in Empire, and the Lambda is...esoteric in how it is best flown to say the least.

Today is the day, user. Do not disappoint your director.

doing it now

the quality will be ass though

As long as it's readable user.

It's gonna be on the level of that vader scan

That is acceptable. You have avoided being beaten to death by my highly trained and skilled men.

When you buy it.

The Defender is my shipfu. Not really sure on # yet.

If a Snowtroopers free shooting action after moving doesn't activate the standby on Fleet Troopers (the rulebook states that free actions are not activations), just what use are Fleet Troopers?

I can't believe people here disliked Krennic.

something something cartoonishly evil le nazi

We call those people, shit taste

He was the perfect Imperial Mid-management Jackass, trying to play office politics with Sith. He then got chocked and killed for it. He was a good character.

>hahah people are excited that this STAR WARS movie set right before STAR WARS EPISODE 4: THE FIRST STAR WARS has elements from STAR WARS in it
I wish I had some of whatever spice Reddit Letter Media is on

Makes him come off as the guy that goes a bit on the treadmill or some light lifts in the corner of his offer once or twice a week and thinks he's hot shit.

Somebody say Lady luck?

>basilisk war droid
I'm still disappointed the only new murder machines we've gotten in the nucanon are the darktrooper rehashes and that metal gear shit that was in the Annie and Obi comic

People will latch onto anything to bitch about, and Krennic being a bit of a bellend is one of them despite being the whole point of it.
Personally I loved him, though being a big fan of Mendelsohn prior helped with that.

My first proper introduction to the EU was reading the Rise and Fall of the Sith Empire.

>Because the PT really cannot stand up to serious scrutiny
TPM is no more disjointed than RotJ. To argue otherwise reeks of bias.

I see the prequel propaganda division is still fully operational.

Various forms of Triple defender or Double defender+stuff are great.

My suggestions are
- Whichever core set you want, probably TFA for the damage deck
- Imperial Veterans for the Defender and titles, bomber isn't terrible
- TIE Defender expansion for even more types of defenders.

So that gives you 2 defenders to work with-

There are 2 ways to outfit a Defender, based on which Title upgrade you take.

The first one is TIE/x7- It makes your defender 2 points cheaper, says you can't take any Missiles or Cannons, and whenever you go fast (Move at speed 3 or higher) it gives you an Evade token.

It makes your defenders INCREDIBLY hard to kill, and cheap, but they become a tad predictable. On the other hand, with the white K-turn, what the fuck is your opponent going to do about it? These things are amazing jousters.

The second title is TIE/D- It says after you shoot a Cannon(any cannon that costs 3 or less- Usually an Ion cannon), you can shoot your main guns immediately after for free. They have difficulty getting modifications on all 6+ of those dice they roll. They also end up costing quite a bit more than a /x7. On the other hand, the control you can have from your cannon and damage output can sting.

You can fit 2 Defenders and (Something else in the 44-28 point range) into a list pretty well, and (Something) could be anywhere from a super-maneuverable ace like a Silencer to a trio of TIE fighters, to a shuttle with Emperor Palpatine onboard to manipulate dice, to a third defender, to a more traditional ace, and still be a very good list.

What kind of 2x Defender+(Stuff) seems interesting to you?

Which type of defender do you want to try?

So many assblasted fanboys, it's really the only reason I still visit the general.

>Waah mommy make them stop posting facts

See?
You have no argument.

>assblasted
Is that what we're calling "noticing even the most remote levels of inane behavior" now, Mike?

...

For anyone who has gotten Dawn of rebellion, mind giving a brief review? Good, bad, are there any modular encounters?

What?

The RRG says standby is triggered by movement, attacking, or performing an action, and it even uses a free action (Vader's Relentless attack) as an example.

Krennic was... fine?

I don't think he really suited the movie.

It should be noted, the wording of Stand-By applies to "free" moves or attacks which aren't an action, like that one Luke command card.

More importantly, Standby can trigger BEFORE the Snowtrooper attack, vis a vis the Relentless example.

Also since Standby is an action in of itself, this can lead to awkward situations if both sides try to overwatch camp.

My mistake, I missed that it specifically mentions the abilities that don't count as activations.

Piett, Thrawn, Tarkin, or Pealleon are my picks.

I'm also relatively new to the game, definitely recommend TFA starter, new damage deck and a few good FO tie pilots.
Personally I've bought and really like the TIE/sf, TIE phantom and TIE/adv prototype. I run whisper, inquisitor and a Seinar specialist aggressor, it's not amazing but It works reasonably.

I also have the upsilon, Imperial Aces and striker but haven't used them yet

Canon Thrawn fistfights with sentry bots based off Dark Troopers for fun, so he's definitely the top pick in that scenario.
Legends brings a lot more to the table.

To expand on the good advice from
TFA Core, Imp Vets, Defender, TIE Striker is a solid starting place for $100 retail. Gunboat, SF, Silencer are also solid. The only one to really avoid is the punisher.

Empire is fun as fuck, you made the right choice.

about the only think I miss after switching to imperial is there's no Sabine/cad bane so I can't make any ship with crew shit out bombs

Eventually, user. We hope.

They just need to figure out the right character and put them in a pack, but there's a shitload of Crew cards the Empire needs.

Thank god. Bombs, especially high-PS aoe or SLAM mines are cancer. Imperials have become a bastion of the core game mechanics.

I disliked him in the movie because yet another Death Star engineer is an overplayed bit from Legends. If he had been the designer of his own project and not forced to interact with Tarkin and Vader together, I feel like he would have been a better villain overall. As it is, we never find out exactly why Galen Erso is so important to the Death Star, and more crucially the whole movie is run like a bad d6 game.

>we never find out exactly why Galen Erso is so important to the Death Star
Leading mind in crystal energy science bullshit.

Pretty much is. Vader chokes him later and he's made extremely aware of how fucking impotent he is in the grand scheme of things.

Oh right the Kyber crystal connection. I freely admit I skip all but the last third of the movie because none of the characters are really interesting. Even then, it's only to wonder at what could have been with regards to a Rogue Squadron movie.

The guy behind the dark troopers who's name I can't spell, no question.
He became legendary for tearing battle droids apart barehanded during the clone wars, and afterwards continued to wreck the most dangerous gladiator, assassin and battle droids he could find barehanded, as a hobby

SLAM mines are pretty dead except a specific use of Miranda.

Nym extra bullshit is being weeded out.

God forbid Punishers actually had a really good, like really good, pilot imps might want to take advantage of the fact that they can also Minefield or Trajectory Simulator.

>have the last Sith Lord in existence trapped in the bumfuckiest of bumfuck nowhere with the only route there known by an obscure data piece thousands of years old
>don't just shoot their ships and go back home, ensuring they'll just die on Tython

>The merest whiff of space-brake clean will take the printing right off yer labels and then yer right hooped.

There's always room for a crazy pirate engineer on Hoth NPC, course the players will have no fucking idea what he's saying when the pixies in their hyperdrive aren't talking to the confuzer because Nemoidian gear from the big rock candy mountain just aint skookum

Are there any dance moves of note in universe?

How would you handle a danceoff from a mechanical standpoint?

youtube.com/watch?v=45-QEbqnI_k

well step one make dance fights a thing
and step two is make sure everybody has zeemas.

Should the Trade Federation March be reused in the future? I think its underrated, one of the best musical pieces from the Prequels.

>we never find out exactly why Galen Erso is so important to the Death Star,

In his voice over, he confirmed that he wasn't, which is why he had to be the one to do it (because they would've found someone else, who wouldn't have sabotaged the project).

Yes. But only for proper good FO Stormtrooper scenes

God I hope so. That horn glissando makes me fucking nut every time

I bet a lot of Legion players will play it if/when they add CIS.

Speaking of which, I was recently pondering how they might balance droid infantry. I'm thinking they should be cheap, but have the worst attack and defense dice, but they should be immune to Suppression. Maybe via like a keyword that they treat Ion tokens like suppression (like a vehicle does) but no matter how much you shoot, shell or spook them they don't have normal fear.

is 100% correct. Bombs are the death of this game.

man we gotta find whatever monkey paw someone used to make bombs good

Does the sequel trilogy have any iconic sound design as of now? Actual question. not b8

Probably BB-8 and the fucking porgs

I need your guys' help /swg/,

My party recently encountered a collective of Force-Sensitive Pirates in our travels. Basically, our ship stumbled upon their home base of operations. We were immediately attacked by the Pirate leader in a capital ship, and our primary ship was disabled in space. We're now in a small group of fighters to make an Anakin & Obi-Wan style landing on the ship.

How would you go about disabling/destroying this ship?

Also, how would you go about infiltrating the ship, and assuming the Pirate Lord is on the bridge, take down the ship from within?

As of right now, there are five fighters against the Capital ship. Long odds, but this is Star Wars after all and stranger things have happened.

Are you also force sensitive and/or have explosives?

If so, land on the ship, jump out and find the reactor/engine room. Apply lightsabers and/or bombs until they stop working, then gtfo. If you want to try and force a surrender, find the environment room and turn off Life Support

How force-sensitive are we talking? Wouldn't they sense you coming on? Also I'm not sure how you would sneak on in the first place since their sensors would pick you up (and if you used the fighters to take out external sensors they would know something is up when you disappear from the battle to board.)
Keep in mind that an Anakin and Obi-Wan style landing involves firing missiles directly at a capital ship before loudly entering and running over several crew members

Do you have magboots or similar? If so, ditch the fighters and fling yourselves across space to land on the ships and cut your way in through the hull - you're (hopefully) too small to be fired upon by their ship-based weapons or scanners, and once you'e on the hull you can walk along the outside (significantly less resistance than inside) to get to where you need to be, then blow or cut open a hole and wreck the place. Your only issue will be getting back, so... maybe make a call so someone else with a ship is waiting nearby. That or just blow open the bridge, let the vacuum of space do the work, and then use their ship to get to a spaceport. Force sensitive or not if your pirates aren't suited up for space, blowing open their hull to let them all be sucked out and suffocated will work fine.

Other than that, if you want to take down, strike key systems - life support is a good shout.

if you weren't already ingaged the answer would be seismic charges, always seismic charges

if you're boarding the ship there's a few ways; go for the magazine, reactor or fuel tanks and threaten to blow it up, go for life support and threaten to vent the ship, or just go straight for the bridge and decapitate the command. bonus style points for EVA breach through the view-port or roof of the bridge

Yes, all Force-Sensitives of various types, save for our droid.
Also yes, All ships have concussion missiles, and one of the fighter has a proton bomb.

That was one of the things I had considered, landing on the ship and trying to cut our way in. The reactor or hyperdrive receive my vote for what we should target.

He's a pretty powerful Pirate, skilled with dark side powers. The party are all very powerful though. The missiles are a good idea, and we definitely have those. The loud landing and crew killing was anticipated.

Only one of us has the magboots, who also happens to be our best pilot in the group, but I like the idea of blowing open the bridge, that's good stuff.

I think the reactor or life support could definitely work. I didn't consider the magazine though, that's a very neat idea.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.

Where is it?

Honestly, i'm wondering what would put the bomb genie in the bottle.

Make dial-reveal bombs get dropped at start of activation, and something about mines activating at Start of Combat so you can't throw them on people's heads?

I am not kidding you right now, scanning this actually caused my scanner to break. got 10 pages in and it's completely kaput

I'm gonna find a new solution

fuck you krennic

you never should've trusted an Australian-made scanner

No worries lil nigga

Phone pics should be readable

kek

user, you have made time an ally of the Rebellion!

Why did Rogue One have such a nice script compared to Disney's flagship new trilogy started by ESB alum Lawrence Kasdan?

That's a question I ask myself regularly. Everything about Disney Wars is disappointing and/or bad, except for Rogue One. Honestly, it must be lightning in a bottle.

youtu.be/W7bmXywWus8
There's a few.

General Rohm Moc then.

it's actually Rom Mohc

I just read the wook entry, guy's a fucking metal gear villain, it's amazing

>Metal Gear villain
Mohc's only the tip of the batshit crazy iceberg, user.

What's the point of these with CR90A Corvettes being just 3 more points? How can they compete with the classic TRC90 setup?

It's probably because it's a nice and tidy thing. No need to worry about sequels when you end a few hours before the next movie

I honestly don't know. I'm brand new to this, so only about half of what you said made sense.

Does anyone know what "SR" refers to in Saga Edition?

>EVA breach through the view-port or roof of the bridge

I have an idea for using this for the finale of a campaign I've been planning, but in reverse.

Plan would be the multistage takedown of an experimental star dreadnought. One group of players/NPCs would go up to the command bridge in TIE pilot gear and use small breaching charges to blow out the viewport. Coincided with another team hacking the backup control bridge. First group would then EVA across the superstructure and re-enter through an escape pod bay.

>guy's a fucking metal gear villain, it's amazing
