Maybe, but Coleman was never one of our own. Our own are people like NEA, CA, Muninn, etc.

First for the Invasion Omnis stealing two names each that can never be used for other designs. Goddamn NATO-style reporting names.

First for the Concordat (and Protectorate).

which omnis?

Who is Coleman and why is he disliked?

>I'm pretty sure CA said that there was a balance in the account that the donations went to that he and 3A cannot access; only Muninn had the PW and stuff. Of course if he comes and clears that up I'm more than happy to be corrected; it'd be shit if another of our own turned out to be a dirtbag thief and I'd rather that not be the case.
More or less. As far as I can tell from what I get from the account, it hasn't been touched since a payment to Plog went out last year. So it's basically money we can't touch.

All of them have two names (Stormcrow/Ryoken, Adder/Puma etc.) so neither of those two names can be used for another mech because it could be confused.

Loren Coleman is one of the founders of CGL and a guy who has been involved with BT for decades. He also is the guy who embezzled $800k from CGl and is single-handedly responsible for them being totally unable to do anything at all anymore.

Actually, that gives me an idea for a design challenge;
The Taurians built retrotech Ymirs and Xanthoses during the Jihad, and would therefore presumably have a few kicking around later on
Design Dark Age variants based on those leftover chassis upgraded to modern specs

Except that isnt true. Look at the Gladiator. The Vulture is an omni and a dropship. The Centurion is a mech and an ASF. The Scorpion is a mech and a vehicle.

He did say "can't be used for another 'mech". All of those examples don't have collisions on the same unit type.

The Gladiator does.

Well good to know he didn't take it and run. I hope he's able to get back on the horse one day. Any idea why he vanished?

He embezzled 800k.... wtf

You know what pisses me off? The douche didn't think to try to make amends and put a mortgage on his house or whatever and try to slowly pay off his debts.

It's a personal thing for me because I have had people do some really crappy things and they'd rather push someone over an edge than make up for what they've done. If this twit had at least did something to make Catalyst enough money to more than make up for his behavior, I might forgive him, but until I see compensation + interest, I'm not too happy.

Are you kidding? Randall (who, for the user who's new here, is the other owner of CGL and one of Loren's personal friends) fucking forgave him and said something to the effect of "let bygones be bygones". CGL just wrote it off like nothing happened. Fuck's sake, Coleman still works there in some capacity. You think he's gonna do the right thing and give the money back? Fuck no.

Something like this?

Okay anons, explain to me the supremacy of the wolverine amongst is mediums.

BT 3025: Periphery shenanigan's edition coming in April, Guys.

Jack of all trades but pretty good at all of them too.

It has a good armour slab, a large laser to poke big holes, a 6 rack to crit seek, a pair of medium lasers for when you need to be heat efficient, it jumps, it goes decently fast when not jumping, and it has almost enough heat sinks to do it all.

No other introtech mech even comes close.

I thought you need heavy heavies or assaults to mix things up successfully. Wouldn't the wolvy be gimped? Or do all its stuff range sync up together?

What are some different Greek styles of government? I'm world-building some with a Periphery state rising from the remnants of the Rim Worlds Republic, and it's keeping some of the RWR's old Greek theme.

Ah. So it starts off good, and a successful merc campaigning can retrofit / upgrade it progressively to be even better... Makes sense why you guys keep recommending it.

Oh you do, but for it's size, it can move, punch and take a hit all pretty darn well, some versions better at it than others.

In a pinch esp intro ones with jets can scout, they are great cavalry mechs, can lead a team of bugs or other lights fine, work well with bigger to screen or body guard.

Again, what one exactly may be a touch better suited for some tasks.

The whole thing most meds use is a swiss army knife, the wolverine is one of the fancy ones with a USB stick and toothpicks.

Well if you can read the balance and it's still positive, then that's good. Though, it's less of a good clue re: Muninn's potential health/living status.

Geez, this should be pinned on the OP. Amazing how few people research it.

hackslashmaster.blogspot.ca/2016/08/on-shadow-catalyst-part-i.html

They are always talking about the LL variant; the base Wolverine isn't as good as the Griffin. In fact, the base Wolverine isn't that good at all.

That's because the ac5 is horribad on anything.

On snap, someone added it to the pastebin on the end of the OP. I guess that was the last update or something.

My campaign group has an entire lance of these fuckers. They get work done, and they're tough and fast enough to survive a mistake and get out of there. Like when we found a demolisher that was hiding inside a garage and it opened up with both AC20s on one wolvie that had moved somewhat slow to line up a good shot on a locust that in retrospect was bait for that reason. But that wolvie survived 2 AC20 hits and GTFO out of there and lived to fight another day.

One of our other wolvie pilots knows how to kung fu fight (melee master + melee specialist) and later in that battle ended up punching the Locust that killed our locust in half. All of our wolverine pilots took jumping jack so that we can jump around like mad and still shoot well(5JJ is enough for a +3 movement modifier)

They are pretty much the ideal skirmisher, tough and well gunned enough to win any fight with something in their own weight category, and fast enough to outrun whatever they can't outfight, and enough gun to keep the heavier stuff honest.

Fan stuff? Cool.

I'm new here user I had no idea about all this.

Really? New-new or Official Forum-user new? Just curious.

He was getting burned out on BT at the time (understandable, I guess), but hadn't done much beforehand. So I dunno, he was okay the last time I talked to him, but I told him to have somebody contact us if he couldn't.

I think he means the Battletech video game.

The Spartans had two kings and a ruling council to keep them in check, and the Byzantines had an absolute monarch

No. The HBS vidya, to give you guys a vidya of the tabletop. I already have it, just waiting for release. Stackpoles shorts are also good.

Sounds like I need wolverines in my mech life.

New new. What's going on with the official forums?

true dat

You have the beta, yeah? Same as most of us? Or did you somehow get the full game? If so, why the FUCK have you not shared that shit?

What does everyone think of the new MWO Blood Asp?

I don't normally say this about MWO designs but from the concept art, it needs to be broader in the torso. It just seems too tall and spindly. The Mad Cat MkII had the same issue.

clanscum/10

Also, mwoscum/10

There is something off about it. Maybe it's too tall?

,,,

Here's a for instance. I posted part of an interview with the new Line Developer and bolded the relevant part. Then I got this email;

Hi user,

We appreciate you posting part of the interview with Brent. We do ask that you unbold the text.

Sincerely,
Bosefius

Now, what difference does that make? No fucking point, is there?

...why would you post that post, and not link the interview? WHY, user?

wtf?

just spitballing, but that's what I'd do if someone asked for a citation.

It's a MWO gameplay thing. The hit-boxes on the side torsos and center are a big part of how powerful a 'mech is, if it was as broad as it was in MW4 it would end up being sort of shitty in game.

Nice high mounted hardpoints tho.

The beta, and all the full backer goodies. Including the special shad.

Took about a million screens from the beta. It was so fucking good. DAT fucking mêlée and DFA with a angel of death pilot. Plus the different manufacturers weapons being different.
>victors ac20 vs atlas' vs hunchies'

It has its problems, but more MWO mechs = more 3d assets = more 3d printed TT minatures for me

Fucking cancerboxes and cancerdots

>the fucking pig went and nerf'd the laser vomit hunch.
>they nerf'd the missile hunch
>they nerf'd the twin missile sides hunch.

Fucking pgi.

>something IS isn't totally dogshit? Better nerf it!

Okay wolverine bros, show me an ultimate upgraded wolverine. The tuned to the nth degree uber wolverine. What would you do to turn a good mech into s fuckawesome mech?

>high-mounted hardpoints
Exactly why you punish this thing and make it take cover. Weapon mounts that can peek-a-boo that easily deserve an easily shot-to-shit chassis.

Man, you best set up a production line for that shit son. I'm sick of giving money to Russia.

>Syndrome.jpg

>is of balance tovarisch!
Narrow garde to core out sides AND high mounts are totally fair and balanced. Why look at the roughneck. That's fair. I mean, have four energy mounts periscoped above the cockpit is fair as!

Fucking phone. Auto correct is OFF. FFS. How is garde even a fucking word? I'm missing an En out of that French loan idiom you fucking phone shit!

Hard to core out*

They really do need a lot of cleanup. I started learning 3d tools just for this reason so it's at a rough stage but I'm getting better. Pic is all of the current mechs I'm woriking on. Most are imported but not 3d print ready.

Basic, straightforward, does a bit of everything. No frills. I almost gave it a plain LL but I wanted a bit more range on something besides the MML.

Wrong reply oh well

Don't worry, the sarcasm came across plenty well in the original post.

It's a Big Boy so it's already going to be huge like one of those 5'10" vs 6'0" on Tinder comparison pictures. It would be nice to have an assault that doesn't need a fucktonne of quirks to keep from exploding instantly because it is 10x the size of a 75 tonne mech and has a torso twist like a German tank with a hand-cranked turret.

A weapon to surpass the Metal Gear...

>Not rear mounted re laser.

You can only make the Wolverine so good, or it will destroy other mechs just from being on the board.

There's always the top-secret weapons development program gone rogue version.

I posted the link in the OF thread. I didn't here because then I wouldn't be "user", would I? Go look for it on the OF.

C'mooooooooooooooooooooooooooon just give us a link. We'll pretend your still user ;)

So, we're looking to do weird shit around here again. I could use another few pairs of eyes, please.

SYNOPSIS:
1) This is looking like a, "have more tonnage nearby the 2 control points"-style scenario, on a map setup between 3x2 and 3x3.
2) We are STRICTLY limited on the chassis available, so we're having to provide variety by messing with the variants being used.
3) Available chassis are: Atlas, Highlander, Timber Wolf, Marauder, Archer, Catapult, Mad Dog, Centurion (maybe), Phoenix Hawk, Raven, Locust
4) It's a ~3067 scenario; yes, we know that the PXH-8CS is a 3080 design - there's no other available C3 spotter for the Dracs given the chassis we have available to us. Faction availability of variants isn't strict for this game.
5) Terrain will be be fairly open (think a couple classic CBT maps, and Open Terrain maps, with a few clusters of 2-4 buildings), and will be try very hard not to favor neither side.

Note there's no ECM on the Davion side, before you get up in arms about the C3. We also arbitrarily reduced the C3 link's BV2 cost from +20% of the lance's BV2, to a +15%, because the full 20% is utter bullshit and everybody knows it.

Dracs: (Total BV2 ~21500 before +15% C3 modifier, ~23000 after)
>Command Lance (this lance is C3-active)
Atlas -CM
Highlander 641-X2
Catapult -K5
Phoenix Hawk -8CS

>Fire Lance
Mad Dog Prime
Marauder -9M2
Marauder -9M2
Archer -9K

>Cavalry Lance
Timber Wolf E
Phoenix Hawk -3S
Phoenix Hawk -3S
Phoenix Hawk -3S

Davions: (Total BV2 ~22000)
>Command Lance
Atlas AS7-S
Highlander -694
Mad Dog C
Catapult -C5A

>Battle Lance:
Catapult -C5A
Marauder -5T
Marauder -5T
Archer -6S

>Cavalry Lance
Timber Wolf S
Phoenix Hawk -6D
Phoenix Hawk -6D
Phoenix Hawk -6D

So, understanding BV2 isn't the be-all and end-all of force balancing, does anyone see any glaring issues or problems with these Mech selections given the approximate scenario conditions?

No worries. I'd get a lot of those models printed myself. I live the onion k from mwo especially.

>ac20, 2srm6+a, 4 ml's
>on a 75t IS heavy with the structure and armour of an assault.

I don't see any glaring flaws but I'm a consummate OpFor player, and I would play either of those lances. Things being lopsided in a Battletech scenario doesn't mean something is wrong with it anyway. BV2 is just for PUGs.

>lances
Companies. Yeesh. I need more booze.

God damn is the K5 a total piece of shit. Looks pretty even. Davions got the cruddier Mad Cat and the glass cannon Vulture, but those Phawk 6D's are mean fucks if overpriced. Whole shit ton of TComped mechs in there really. My main issue is I don't see a lot of ECM for either busting up the C3 or ECCM. Probably doesn't matter a lot though as it's only one lance really using it. Though I imagine that's also part of the plan. Get that Snub-hawk to snuggle up close and watch that Catapult make some lemonade.

Looks I am getting a starslayer for an RP campaign. I just wish it wasn't as eye searingly ugly.

It's a damn solid Medium so count your blessings. You could have gotten a Shad 2D.

Does anyone even bother playing if they get a fucking shitowhawk model for their start? Would you not just 'fuck that, new game'

I'd gladly use a base model Shad. Honestly, I'd use a 2D too. But I'd rather not have to.

At a guess?

As a SWAG, the Mods might've thought the bold text was too much in light of -
>• Never quote more than a few lines from any source
- but decided to give user a break, instead of just nuking him.

Sounds tinpot dictator epeen wanking bullshit to me. What's the point if only quoting very tiny parts of rules? With a game as complex as BT, that's tantamount to discussing chess and only being able to talk about half the moves one piece can make.

Just a perfect swiss army knife mech.

Maybe have the lac5 instead of the erllas so you can put a big mml on and more erml's? OR
instead of the lac5 more mml. Keep the llas as a llas and add some ermls? Then maybe a pair of mml? Then any missile ammo you get can get thrown downrage out of them. Keeps the ultimate wolverine as a laser and missile mech. Also syncs the llas and erml's to better complimentary range?

Thanks user.

Honestly I liked the idea of jamming the 6M together with the base model in a sort of "fuck you Shad you have no reason to exist anymore" config that paid homage to both Wolvie models.

Actually the Reaver's energy hardpoints make the mech's side profile fucking gigantic. Those things go pop petty much every match.

Do mine eyes deceive me or is there no canon Griffin variant with an HPPC? I waffled whether I should go for the MML9 or the MML7 and more armor, and went with the 9 because autism (it matches the launcher on the Roundfacer) and because it's meant to play like an OG Griffin and keep back from the thick of things.

Does anyone make up their own factions or is that gay?

pfft this is BTG anyone not a full house unit with a mech is mary sue trash.

We do it all the time. It's just that most anons that do it toddle off to their own game and group after discussing it here briefly to bounce ideas off us, so we rarely hear about it again. We've fiddled as a group with doing it a few times; Spess Poland and the VFR come to mind. I'm sure we'll do it again someday too. If you want to knock around ideas or get some (potentially terse) feedback on your ideas then toss 'em up.

This is fun as heck, good mech to play.

i kitbashed these ideas.

That's why you GI towards to oeek the hill to get your lasers burns in and reverse off. Reavr is really bad for learning to torso twist since its hill humping relies on you not turning away from your target.

Gotta have at least one of those ERMLs in the head man. The "Fwoosh" is probably the better of the two, but the Dakka is more like a "traditional" Wolvie. I also like the deep bins on the "Dakka"; I think that's the one I'd use myself. Assuming one of the ERMLs gets put in the head.

Holy shit I just realized I made it 50 tons instead if 55... the hell is wrong with me?!

Go forwards* to peek*

That extra 5 made all the difference in the world, eh?

I asked mainly out of curiosity so I don't really have any solid ideas. I was thinking of something bigger than a merc unit so maybe a minor periphery state?

True, but then I could die in style

A bit more armor and able to get rid of the FF to lower the cost. Plus it, y'know, matches the Canon base chassis weight now. Kinda important.
