First for non-salty Tau bros

nth for bow to Sla'anesh, motherfuckers...

Third for DARK ELDAR Codex

oh shit i'm sorry

#
My dark Gue'la.

Had the idea of an Outrider Detachment with two units of Pathfinders and two units of drones with Marker Drones mixed in. All led by a Fireblade.

Fireblade uses Sa'cea strat to blanket Markerlight, then plinks on his own with a free reroll and uses the generic strat that adds D3. Rest of the marker units follow suit. Bunch of rerolls for next to nothing.

All but confirmed to be the last of the current release trio.

So what's the star side nexus?

Well he did say third

I didn't expect any less, we are always an after-thought.

>Guy plays 7 commanders against my Necrons
>Codex coming
>Orders 4 Broadsides

We know how to fix T''''au. How do we fix T'au players tho?

Broadsides still seem a bit mediocre for something that costs 300 points

Honestly, that's still way ahead of where I expected we'd be.
I figured we'd be last, with the exception of maybe Inquisition or Orks.

How do you play harlequins? With DE/Craftworlds/ or just clowns alone?

>Guy finds out he can't field the models he own
>Orders new ones
Fucking people amirite

well due to not getting to use 4 of them now he might need to make points up somewhere.
but yeah these guys have points

>300 points
For 2. The missileside dropped to roughly 150 and the railside is even cheaper.

Buenos días comrades

Is there any reason my dedicated transports need to have the same faction tags as the unit they deploy with (the ones in < > brackets)?

Simple; Don't play games against them.

>a nice user already posted a World Eaters, CC focused list proposal in another thread, but I don't feel too confident going CC focused - seems like a bad idea to me >no offense

Alright Veeky Forums, I need your help. We're having a friendly 1500p game on Sunday with a friend (he plays Orks), but I've played a total of like 10 games of 40k my entire life and need some help building a list.

Here's what I have available to me:

Daemon Prince
Lord on foot
Lord in termie
Lord on bike

5 Termies
10 Berserkers
9 Noise Marines (2 w/ Blastmasters)
5 Bikers (2 w/ Meltas)
3 Obliterators + 1 Token Oblit

Rhino
Rhino/Predator
Heldrake
2 Hellbrutes

10 Cultists
10/2x5 Plague Marines (2 w/ Special Weapons)

~20 shitty (ugly/unpainted) Marines

Any tips on what to include? What detachments to go with? Don't really know where to start.

>pic related, not everything included

Something that allows them to communicate with the tau in the north who survived crudely anti-matter exploding the expansion fleet through the warp.

It's a shame said northern tau are supposed to be hyper xenophobic though, peeps like me were hoping they'd be a place of eccentricts and the my-guys zone, instead they're zealous fundamentalists.

I don't own one as of now, but should I give in to the dark side and obtain a riptide given the codex buff, making them great anti-tank?

Oh look, it´s Che Gue'vesa'la

Imagine being the Etherial who decided broadsides weren't allowed to mount missile pods on their shoulder mount for perfect synergy

>Vior'la infantry rush
>Bork'an mechanized assault
>Dal'yth stealth cadres
I'm so hyped right now, too bad they didnt leak the new unit profiles

Our local has a fuckwit like this too (also Spammander faggot). Simple way to fix the problem, is to never play against them. Every now and then, they will get an unsuspecting victim, but after a while their army just sits on a shelf while everyone else has fun.

Hopefully your Codex kicks the shit out of the new Tau one. That would be the perfect revenge.

Question about rules regarding the following stratagem for thousand sons Ö

Chaos Familiar (1CP): Use at the start of your Psychic Phase; a THOUSAND SONS PSYKER can swap one power known for another from the Dark Hereticus, Tzeentch, or change disciplines.

Wouldnt this mean that you could, for example, swap one power of a exalted sorcerer for one of the tzeentch discplines, even though he would usually not be able to pick one of those powers as one of his start powers?

haven't touched the game in forever

so are orks a "putmodelsbackintoyourboxhammer 40k" like in last edition or are they playable

They are still "okay" tier, depending on sept you might be better off with broadsides

they p good now

The good riptide is the burst cannon one. Ion cannon has a weaker gun that costs more.

Depends

You're not going to win any tournaments by any accounts, but you should be fine for friendly, casual games. Taking big swarms of boyz/mek guns/killa kans should help.

kek

Eldar ranger models are gay. Any good alternative ones?

...

They had a huge drop in cost...

Nice.
Mephrit looks pretty good in particular.

Isn't the ion one similar to a lascannon?
I fight IG and SW, so an abundance of T8, currently relying on 2-3 railheads from the index and it hurts. Dissapointed that from what we've seen they've been left to rot.

Yeah. I can see a lot of people who've painted their armies as Thokt using it too, given Thokt doesn't seem to have a trait of its own (at least on leaks so far).

Whats up with every chaos player looking and acting like somebodies stepdad

Chad dynasty coming through.

Begone THOKT

>Dont purge me or my wifes son ever again

When will we get a 40k army based around ants? I want to field ant models that look actual size

I'm not sure why people are suddenly acting like being a stepdad is pathetic unless the woman got pregnant whilst dating you.

>tyranids

Which is Better to get anons, Hellblasters, Agressors or Intercessors?

So Ramirez is shit now right?

They're good but a bit monobuild.

hellblasters are outclassed hardcore by plasma devestators

intercessors are worse than scouts but better than tacticals

aggressors are amazing if you are ravenguard and ultramarines, still decentish as others

Hellblasters
You can never have enough Hellblasters

How about O'reilly?

Sorry for what?
Daddy taught us not to be ashamed of our legions

Anyone? Can I take venoms with kabalites in them, but make them units?

How many games did said Commander spammers actually win?

Inceptors are decent because two heavy Bolters on a fast platform.

cucks reeee /r9k/ stuff

rymr is trash tier, ralai can technically be an ok warlord by sniping in thge backlines, but he doesnt really do much else

God forbid someone replaces models they can't field anymore with others that do a similar job.

I said ants, not dinobugs.

thanks anons and here is picture of Sister of Battle Hugging Cat

They're all pretty neat, though you really want some deep strike shenagins for Aggressors to earn their points back

Did you mean Intercessors or Inceptors? Because Inceptors are pretty damn good, mechanically they're like jetbikes with twin heavy bolters.

>Spammed unit is nerfed
>Goes out to buy four of the new hotness
Nobody cares that he's replacing his commanders, it's that he's replacing them with another spammed unit.

>Ramirez
>O'reilly

You're a loose cannon R'myr, but you're a damn good Commander. I'm partnering you with R'alai until you straighten out.

>Those Necron traits

Yeah, I'm glad I'm going to be offloading mine after the escalation league.
I'm not a huge fan of the playstyle and I don't think that's going to change.

galaxy shall be united by the power of song
youtube.com/watch?v=__GHpmdmJu0&t=0s

is it better to run Dangles hellblasters or devastators?

Dear god, four fucking heavy support choices? What spam!
Tell me, what would you suggest instead? Broadsides aren't even overpowered, they're just a decent unit now.

Literally anything as long as it isn't spammed.

no

I'm going to start modelling my remaining 3 Wraiths as scorpions now.

devastators put out on average 10 shots at 36" range turn 1, 4 of which dont overheat

this costs less than 5 hellblasters, who put out 5 shots until they get in range

so you pay more for 1 wound (in a game where 2 damage weapons are spammed) and an extra ap on the weapon (where most things have access to invulns anyway, or are already on a 6+ save after -3 ap)

DA buffs both of these equally, so devestators are still the optimal choice for a unit that specialises in dealing damage from long range

for DA, in my opinion from a tourneyfag perspective, is devestators > black knights >>> hell blasters

They placed 2nd and 3rd at the recent Grand Tournament

They have two builds that are strong, over all their codex is slightly below average.
In general, 8th is pretty balanced.
Only Deathwatch and Grey Knights are fucked right now.

Wrath and Glory when? I want to GM a new campaign set in 40k, already!

>their codex
Which comes out somewhere in june?

>Only Deathwatch and Grey Knights are fucked right now.

deathwatch and necrons, grey knights are very powerful in soup as a patrol detatchment, but they are kinda limited against hordes if they are pure gk

Ok, lad

...

>hellblasters are outclassed hardcore by plasma devestators
Disagree, their roles barely overlap.

If you run an actual Marine Tournament list, you'll want a shooty castly with Devastators and Guilliman.

However, if you're running semi-casual, Hellblasters are great for advancing up the field along a Captain or Dreadnought, which Devs can not.

>Still looking for suggestions on how to fix tau players.

>grey knights are very powerful in soup as a patrol detatchment

GK never should have been an army of their own to begin with

I think you wanted the /40krpg/ thread, but August-ish is the tentative answer.

Get Hellblasters if you want mobile firepower

Get Aggressors if you play RG and need something for a turn 1 alpha strike

Get Inceptors if you want a Land Speeder without fielding a Land Speeder

Get Intercessors if you already have ten scouts and need another Troop unit for your backkfield

Thanks! Sorry, will lurk in the catalog to find it.

Where would be a good place to put a mydudes Tau sept that's a bit isolated from the rest of the empire, still willing to use human auxilliaries and sits aside a smattering of Imperium planets that aren't important enough to trigger a retributional crusade if fucked around with.

Or given that the first three expansion spheres are just a blob do I just come up with a planet name and leave it vague? Would there be any imperium planets on the far east fringes near that Hadex anomaly?

What are some of the best Start Collecting boxes?

The Eldar one looks pretty neat, if obviously Iyanden-centric

to be fair outside of the global problem of terminators being shit, GK only need a few tweaks to where i would play them pure and consider myself not 100% gimped in a competitive setting

1: a relic for CP return
2: a relic or banner/aura that lets me reroll charges that ISNT a warlord trait, or something that increases charge range, like a 3d6 or a +2 or 3"
3: make psilencers s5 or make normal psycannons damage 2

Index, sorry

True, but Necrons are literally getting a Codex next so that is barely relevant.

>grey knights are very powerful in soup as a patrol detatchment
How so?
From what I can see there's nothing something else can't do more effectively.

There is no way that game can be balanced. Also looks incredibly simplistic

I'm playing about with the new codex, trying to make a nice combined arms force that includes a variety of different units for fun

Will be going up against Eldar flyer/walker list, also a fairly new player. I'm trying to use stuff I already own mostly.

How does this 1000pt list look comrades?

COMBINED ARMS
BATTALION
BORK'AN

- Ethereal on Hover Drone
-- Honour Blade
--1x Shield Drone

- Cadre Fireblade
-- Pulse rifle/ML

- Fire Warriors x7
-- 1x Shield Drone
-- 1x Missile Pod Turret

- Fire Warriors x7
-- 1x Shield Drone
-- 1x Missile Pod Turret

- Breacher Team x7
-- Pulse Blasters

- Devilfish
-- Burst Cannon
-- 2x Gun Drone

- Crisis Suits x3
-- 3x Cyclic Ion Blasters
-- 2x Fusion Blasters
-- 3x Target Locks
-- 1x Velocity Tracker
-- 3x Shield Drone

- Pathfinders x10
-- Carbines/Markerlights
-- Recon Drone
-- Grav Inhibitor Drone
-- Pulse Accelerator Drone

- Broadside x1
-- HY Missile Pods
-- Smart Missile Systems
-- Seeker Missile
-- Velocity Tracker
-- Missile Drone x2

Opponent will probably run a Fire Prism, Wraithguard, Wraithlord, War Walker, Jetbikes and Farseer on jetbike, plus something else I don't know he has yet.

Pathfinders light up the Fire Prism turn 1, Broadside and Crisis focus fire on it. Hopefully delet it first turn. Then they use their S7 guns to take on the walkers.

Fire Warriors, Ethereal and Fireblade stay together to focus fire on the walkers, or split off to take objectives.

Breachers in Devilfish are a little under-strengthed, would prefer a bigger unit, but I didn't have any more points. They'll harass something early doors and try to distract my opponent away from my missileside/crisis suits when he sees a tank fly right towards his dudes (seriously he's the type of guy this could work on)

Mostly though I wanted it to look good with some infantry, a few suits, a tank, and a grorious reader ethereal.

Comments/crits appreciated!

Oh damn, I just realized how big of a faggot I am.

>Disagree, their roles barely overlap.

damage dealing at long range vs damage dealing at medium range for twice the price per shot

>If you run an actual Marine Tournament list, you'll want a shooty castly with Devastators and Guilliman.

if you run a tournament list you want to maximise your firepower with your damage dealing units turn 1, not have footslogging expensive units that will do half the shots and will still die in the enemies turn

>However, if you're running semi-casual, Hellblasters are great for advancing up the field along a Captain or Dreadnought, which Devs can not.

sure i agree with this

>obviously Iyanden-centric
Funny thing about the Iyanden trait is that it does nothing for Wraithguard. Those boys look like Alaitoc to me.

Alternatively, check the homebrew section for Genesys. Somebody already did a pretty comprehensive conversion for Dark Heresy using the Genesys rules.

nice try pretending to be me fag

>devilfish
>odd squad numbers
Whats up with that?

>all these namefags
Is it time for everyone to use name or trip? Are we reddit now?

>Taking big swarms of boyz/mek guns/killa kans should help.
Tell me about this. I find killa kans and deff dreads sexy as fuck. Can I run spearhead detachment with kans, dreads and lootas and don't get stomped on t1?

>grey knights are very powerful in soup as a patrol detatchment, but they are kinda limited against hordes if they are pure gk
Since I wanted to add some Grey Knights to my Marines anyway, what units of them are actually good?

Their troops seem even more overpriced and useless than regular Marines and they're not even smiting normally.

What do you take as a GK Patrol?
